Episode description

This week on The Pod Charles Cinecast, presented by The Prince Charles Cinema, our hosts Jonathan Foster and Fil Freitas hit the courthouse for the final time, to sit in on a divorce case where it turns out one of the scummy lawyers can't tell a lie because of a birthday wish his son made.

It's the last week of Courtroom section of our BREAKING THE LAW, BREAKING THE LAW arc, and we are talking the 1997 Jim Carrey courtroom comedy, LIAR LIAR. With baseball and wrestling references, Cary Elwes channelling James Marsden, Jennifer Tilly being amazing as always, magical wishes that make no sense and bad dad Jim Carrey not slowing down for 90-minutes – this film has everything. It is probably one of the more slept on Jim Carrey comedies from the 90s, with tons of memorable quotes and physical comedy that you just don't see any more.

Join us, stroll down memory lane with this film that is likely better than you remember. Yeah, maybe it isn't the greatest courtroom film, but who doesn't want to see Jim Carrey kick his own ass for our viewing pleasure?

“The color of the pen that I HOLD in my hand is rrrrr-rrroyal blue.”
