The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club. This is the Player's Labe broadcasting line from Dallas Cowboys World headquarters at the Star. No, your hosts Barry Church, Danny mccraig, and Knew He scrugs to day your favorite trio back in the mix. No, man, we were going away. We don't want to today's episode goes. We don't want to point any fingers while we weren't on the air last week. But all I can say
is it wasn't me. It wasn't either way. To start out with the Orlando Skendrick tape was nice, reading straight from New Orlando Scandrick screen was actually okay, thought he was too okay, O cas see a kind of team were running. Hey Louis, welcome back. Hey yeah, it's good to be back. Okay. So so fine, let's start off the Players Lounge with an explanation here. So last week we didn't have a show because my flight didn't get
back from New Jersey until four o'clock. Now, I couldn't change the flight without a severe financial penalty, because you know how the airlines were, so couldn't do that. The flight was booked this summer before the show had even been created. All sounds sounds. So my first thought and talking to Big Boss man, can we do it Wednesday? But you two had a golf outing, so we didn't do it Wednesday. I suggested Thursday, I or anything. So that was when it moved to next week. So that's
what did you try to like push that on too? No, no, no, no, no, I giving you, I giving you. Happen wednesday? We were busy, so no, no, these were what we were doing. That one Airlines false just you know how it is, changing the plane ticket, it's a little price, it's a car, especially coming out when you're trying to change it on after a cowboy game. So anyway, Bytom mind, that's what happened. I couldn't get on an earlier flight either, So it was what it was. It was what it was. So
we're back now, We welcome back. Happy to just Scandrick knife down here. We got it is about to get heated here right now. Come on, man, you for Pittsfurn and I ain't going back North. I think I ain't. That's the reason I ain't going back. It's the same dude that they say it's too hot in Texas and he wanted to move. Hey, I gotta be right in the middle. They gotta do it alright in the middle. All right, two former Cowboys safeties here for an hour, and we've got a lot to get into. We've got
our football phrase the day. We will dive into that. I do want to get into this combination. We'll do it later on the show of Dak Prescott to Amari Cooper and comparing it to uh one, you guys played with Tony Romo to Dez Bryant. So we want to get into there. Um the tight end situation. Blake Jarwin having another game there where we're seeing him make a play, hits playing time increase, will get into the college football Playoff.
Ohio State was ranked number one. They have another unveiling tonight. Should Ohio State stay number one? Should there be a change based on what we saw in the SEC this week? We have a food debate here sugar and grits. It's a must sugar and grits. Some people think the sugar should go and grits and some people leave that it shouldn't. So we will debate that here on the show today. But let us start with this loss that we saw an NBC by Sunday Night Football. Here the Vikings came
out and played well. And if you really think about it, what we thought about this game too evenly matched teams, and we saw how it ended up turning out. Cowboys lose the game twenty eight twenty four. They fall to five and four. Now they are in a first place type of Philadelphia. They own the type breaker because they
beat Philly on Sunday Night Football last month. But as a player, how do you get past another loss where you can sit here start counting on your fingers mistakes that you made as a Cowboy player that prevented you from winning. How do you get past this? As you get towards and you have to look towards a road game against the Lions coming up on Sunday, which the lines are no slous man. I mean staffords out here if he, if he does play, there are no slouch
out there. But I mean, you just gotta break down that film. I know, defensively, I mean there was a lot of mistackles out there. You know, a lot of bad angles taken cook just looked like different type of running. May just explosives, some of that, some of that gap responsibility that we talked to them. Saw a lot of peaking in gaps, and that's why you saw. I mean they were running through holes that looked ghenormous, but I mean some guys were peeking in and out. They got
on They got on woods so quick. I know, he was in his back pedal a few times and it was like, I'm still BACKFEDO, how to cook? Get up here so fast? The play calling from the Minnesota side, I thought it was excellent. I mean, the way they used the aggression from you know, the front four and used that against them, used that speed against them by hitting them with screen passes, slowing that down, and that gave Kirk Cousins a little bit more time to kind
of dissect this defense. I mean, I know we talked about it earlier. You don't want to give enough credit, but I thought he played a pretty good game against this defense. He did. I think they played the game that we planned on playing against them, make them stop the run, and they said they would do the same thing us, and we didn't stop the run. Run and screen and cook and cook and cook, And then that just opened it up for kirk Cousins. Okay, stay right there, now,
this is just me. You guys played I didn't, So help me understand. Just my my eyes, my eyes are telling me that Gary Kubiak and company went and saw the film. Here's what the Colts did last year where they beat the Cowboys. Here's what Sean mcbah and the Rams did in the playoffs. This is what the Green Bay Packers did. Now we're gonna figure out how we can run it on these guys and and and they won't make any changes, and we're just gonna keep on going.
And except for they had that great ability as you talked about the screen game, Oh you think it's a run nine now, and that that for me was just I was just trying to It was tough to watch because right now, there's a blueprint. It seems to beat the Cowboys. Run the football, go up front, go out physical, and you can win a game. There's a there's a blueprint print. Defensively, I think I thought we played pretty well on offense. I think the way that they yeah, yeah, defensively,
that is the brue blueprint. Make us stop the run, and we haven't been able to. And that's the way you lose the game. Yeah, I mean, it's gonna be hard to stop any offense in the league when you can make them balanced, or you don't make them choose which way, which way to go. Like if I was, you know, if I was playing for the Cops at that time, I would have wanted, you know, Kirk Cousins trying to beat us with his arm. But it's it's hard when you got to go, man, we gotta try
to figure out a way to stop Cook. We gotta start found a way to stop these screens and Kirk Cousins is throwing the digs a little bit. It's hard, man, when you keep it the defense off balance like that, it's tough. Hundred fifty three yards of rushing on the grand Man and the Madison kid, the Alexander Madison, he looked just as good. I mean, they didn't drop off. We weren't stopping the run against anybody that game. It
just like I said, it didn't look good. It look like we got a little bit off physical on the defensive line, a little bit on our front. Their line was better than I than I had expected to them to be, and they lost two people during the game, and they didn't play like it at all. I mean, it was runs where Cook wasn't getting touched five yards it was. And on the other side of the ball, I think Zimmer did a great job of just saying, look,
we're gonna make y'all beat us through the air. He left his corners out the drive, I mean, and they did get abused, dig get abuse, but he said, look, Zeke's not y'all can keep running them into the wall if y'all want to. But but but the thing is, we've played against teams that have said the same thing, and we've produced against them. So like we go into the game knowing, ay, they're gonna try to stop Zeke, and we've been able to still get Zeke going to get
them some yards and then anybody stop. They didn't have limball, So it's confusing missing Adam feeling. You know, another receiver, Stefan Diggs really had one good catch up the sideline, and that's that's that's kind of the maddening thing when you started to look at some of the things that happened in this football game, where um, the Cowboys had every opportunity, this thing was designed for them at home to get to get a win and it gets away.
But defensively, that's the thing for me right now is if you know how to run the football, you're gonna do it now. Detroit doesn't have a running back that can can produce like Cook. But you know, Matt Patricia, being in former New England Page's assistant, it's going to come do say we're stopping twenty one the next the next two games and stop twenty one right and uh yeah, they got a corner out catch up. And as we say every week before we go into these games, it's
the Lions. They may not have Mats Stafford, you know, blah blah blah. Do not sleep on the Lions. They're not a bad team. They're they're a competitive team, and they have that quarterback. They're pretty good. After the Jets, I don't think get to say this, you think so, yeah, I don't. After look, I mean, you're the next seven teams that the Cowboys play have a combined record to thirty two, thirty and one. But when when I say sleep, I'm also talking about what you tweeted about. I believe
yesterday or today that this is a real issue. You said, this is a real issue of us coming out sleepwalkings on these games. If it's a real issue, then is it? Is it the mindset of the player? Are we really when we come out here on the field and then we wake up at halftime? I don't know, Like you said, you can't keep you can't keep battling back every every game. Great point you made, and I've got to I've got
to pull it up here. Bob's Storm of the Athletic wrote about in the in the Cowboys four losses in the first half, Um, I think the numbers except they were outscore seventy five to nine, which is the first half. That's nuts. So so this this is not you know, it's not some theory. It's not just fans saying you're not. No, they're coming out with slow starts here and you know you're thirty and one to three or something the green. I mean, you're just you're getting it handed to you.
And I wonder what could it be, because it's like as a player, I mean, you're not just gonna come out there sleeping, like you're not even gonna come out and be like, I don't feel like playing this week. That's why I go back to I don't think it's the pregame speech. Yea is it? Is it the way
that the players are being called at the beginning. Is it trying to establish something that that they're stopping, or like like, I'm must stablished the run, So my first five or six players are gonna be X, Y, Z or whatever. And now we go through and out of a couple times, and it's our slow starts versus running the stuff that you would run at halftime when you
come out of halftime. So so right out of the gate, a fifty seven yard field goal attempt is I don't understand now one, well, a little about the sword by the sword that's gonna say, Man, this thing just went left right out of the game, had no shot. So now we talk about sudden change here, so boom, hey,
they've got the ball to forty seven yardline. So this is a situation that we are becoming too comfortable with, right, Let it mire her to attempt to kick a fifty or sixty yard field goal and feeling comfortable about it.
Think it's not thinking about the consequence of Yeah, this dude, he could be fifty percent from from sixty plus, but when he misses sudden change, do you think it's like players thinking, you know, we'll battle out of it, we'll come back from It's the same thing is that you think can attribute to slow stars or like, I don't understands. I'm not a lot now. I think it's honestly a way that we're calling the game offensively. Defensively, I don't know.
It's not that many defensive different defenses that you can run. Because the ball marched down the field on you first drive, you like, yeah, we're in for a long yeah see. But defensively, sometimes that happened comes out they having some schemed up special players and all that stuff. Our special players don't seem to be in get getting called at the beginning of the game. I'll tell you what was disrespectful.
When they went down. I think it was a nine played drive coming out of half that it might have been, but in seven of them are runs. Yeah, and they literally marched the ball. This caller imposing your will you just stop the run, we are going to run it. They literally just back bobbing, then shamed the ball. They
got us, They got us. Yeah, man, it was it was rough to watch, just no one knowing the players that we have on defensive linebackers that we have the defensive line, that we have safeties, we got corners that the tackle and worked every run of that word. And he looked amazing previous in previous games. It wasn't like it wasn't he knew he's the number one running back, number one Russia coming into this thing. Take lords. He said, no,
not this week, That's what he said, Not this week, lady. Unfortunately, that that that what happened. I said, I feel for the food. The foods go from last week they stopped say Kuan yeah right, yeah, they stopped saying good on Devin Cook. And then the next week, say Quan says, next team and he has thirteen rustlings from White one yard And I was like, oh, that's that's what it was killing. So it wasn't that's what happens in football too, right,
So it wasn't less really being great. They just weren't really that good at running the ball. And if you think about it defensively, I think the last week it gets the Giants of Giants World one to five and the Reds Minnesota was I think three for five. Yeah, you opened the door. Let me just go ahead and walk through the second play. Well, actually when Dalvin Cook.
All right on the fourth down, fourth alcohol, Rudolph blocks Vanderash And I'm looking at that and I'm saying that that just to look like last year's Lake Vanderash, that that Kyle Rudolph can block. He's not known for Listen, thank you, important part of the body when you're playing football playing And that's that's what I'm getting this. We're not seeing the fifty five we saw last year. And he's had the injury, and he's saying after the football game,
I'm okay, I'm okay. You guys know better than me. He didn't look the same. So if he's not looking to say and I also knew this because I was around Terence Newman as a round de Marcus where these guys didn't want to talk about the injuries. That it was like, nope, we're not gonna do it, not gonna
use excuses. But I'm just sitting here watching this. What I'm saying, I've got to believe something's not right with this young man because he doesn't look the same and Kyle Rudolph blocking him on it just just him right there, and I know he had an edge, but still, yeah, he did look right man, someone could be wronging him. But like you said, I mean, as a player, you just you're just not going to bring that even up
as an excuse. You're not even just gonna black. I mean, you might be hailing from something and it really really bothers you, but he just can't have this excuse because then you're gonna get a stigma. I think I think we have the responsibility to understand as being here knowing that the guy has a knack injury, that there will probably be a little little, a little fall off on
his play, and we saw it. You cannot play football without having the upper body, and especially as a linebacker and a guy that needs to hit and extend, you know, shock and create contact and separation, and he's not able to do that. He might be able to get away with that at corner, but that linebacker or some players, right if you if you chase it down the screen or something that you might have not had an issue. But when you man the man, you know you got
a shot separation. NA. Yeah, that's rough. All right, Players lounge right here on Dallas Cowboys Radio dot com. We'll get into the play calling here, but before we do that, Barry give everybody your social media info, Danny, same thing at Barry Church forty two. That's both Twitter and Instagram. At Danny d mc forty four on Twitter, Danny Underscore mccraig forty on Instagram. All right, find me on Twitter at NEWI Scrugs, It's n E w Y Scruggs. It's
n E W Y Scruggs. On Twitter, Facebook, it's newis scrug Sports. So despite everything that happened here, Dak Prescott is balling. Dak Prescott, Zimber said, twenty one won't beat us four? Show us if you can beat us four is doing his part. They go down the field, they get to the eleven yard line and yeah, everybody's playing
armchair quarterback. Everybody looking back saying I don't understand it, um and Bury something that you wanted to talk about, Yeah, I mean to me, I just you know, the whole sequence of events that happened, starting from the from the punt return, you know, from the tape on Austin back there, from TV, from the TV prospective, because that's why I was watching the game, and from the television it looked like he had twelve or fifteen yards of free grass.
You know to run at least set up something twenty twenty plus. My man was telling me so for him to just you know, fair catch that, and it looked like and he's an experienced returner, he's not like a rookie out there just you know, I don't know what I'm doing. Some of the fair casters. Somebody had to say, you know, you know, fair casters for the team or whatever. Something had to happen like that because I don't think an experienced punt return like that's gonna see that much
green grass, that much time left on the clock. And there he goes like, yeahs if you rewind this, I know, I look at the coach, he looks at somebody like, man, you sure that was the right card. Ever, everybody's going over this, so I would just like to rewind to the beginning. And this is how you can tell what was what was coach to the guys that are going to block, and there's a difference between that and the
guy that's catching the ball. These guys are given one hundred percent effort and holding up not blocking the thirty seven, and the guy next to him are coming out to be the wall with the lead blockers for Tava and Austin on this right. So they're setting up. They're not taking the playoff. They're not expecting the fair catch, because if they were, they will just all be jogging down not doing much. So the communication from that front line, those guys who are working, working their butts off to
go and block these guys and hold them up. It's different from the communication than the return of gout. That's obvious. And as soon as he catches it, that man, you can see him, he looks dead at the you know, the side. It's no question that there was a there was bad communication or it's not miscommunication, like what you're looking at me for. Yeah, I'm doing what I was told. That's what it seemed like to me. Look cheetoh, look all these guys are coming out setting up this wall
on the up. He rolling, He's like, yeah, that's what I'm supposed Yeah, you mean, I don't you know? So who told him? Who told him? What? You know? I don't know. I'm not I'm not in the locker room. Somebody said, somebody said something wrong. I know. I know we have some other stuff that's going on with with with some sources and all that. I don't have any I'm gonna do my best to find out what happened. We're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna find out because it's
you know, it's leaks and cracks in there. Somebody's gonna say something the streets and style, and I don't I don't see somebody like Tavon falling on the sword for something that he didn't do, especially with all all the attention that is getting. And they were gonna go further on into the to the sequence of events that happened. I believe they got down to the eleven yard line I think it was, and it was what second and I want to say second and four, maybe second and two,
something like that. Well, the point was that that was that was going into the last seconds where they got the ball all the way down to the alist we thought out, oh yeah, okay, it which ended in the fourth It was it was run z twice twice and then throw up and then on the fourth down I was running. Yeah, he was catching. You remember you had two honey yard receivers and we threw the balls and man, my man that had the high he was driving him the whole way down. And you know, that was it
was great it was. I mean, I can see I can see switching it up here and there just to get a run in, just to keep the defense unbalanced or whatever. But they decided to run an east west like you got it. You got one of the best one of the backs that go on north south when he gets his pass square to the line of scrimmage going north and south, he got one of the best
one of the backs in the league. And to run, you know, an east west run like that to give the defensive about, you know, opportunity to penetrate and create a tackle for laws like that, that just blows my mind. Right there went from third and two to a fourth and five, which I mean, that's that's a huge difference. One go on to the east west. I think it's like the third time we've seen that. It hasn't always
been Zeke. I think that. And I know how Jason Garrett thinks about running the ball and how seriously is about it, and how much effort they put into it. They I know they believe it's a man on man when you get into those situations, our guys are better than yours, and running east east west, that show the trust I'm expected to see even if you get hit at the line of crimage. Yeah, these are losses. The losses and if and then Frederick right there getting not
getting the ball. Look for I'm I'm in the end zone because I'm getting ready to do the TV show by my TV show, So I'm in the end zone watching this, and I'm simply saying to myself, dance with what brung you. That was Dak throwing the ball down the field. You get to the eleven and you decide to ditch what was was working. They committed to stop twenty one. They stopped twenty one. You had how many
more minutes before to get this game out? I mean it was almost fifty You haven't done in fifty eight minutes, But the last two minutes you're gonna get it. That was the thing to show when Press Scott was playing so well, and for me, I'm thinking I want him throwing it, but also knowing his ability to act like I'm gonna throw it and then just keep going. We
saw so Wilson last night. I'm money and football. I mean, when you've got a quarterback that can can use his legs and in a smart way like Dak, I just that was what I was looking at and questioning just to myself, say, man, this seems like you didn't put the ball in the best player's hands that you had that So who does that go on? Though? Like which decision maker that this is killing Moore's fault. He's calling the players, this is killing the five yard out route,
the quick out that's on killing Moore. You telling me that you believe JJ said, hey, line him up being empty, put Zeke at one. What I'm on the quick out? On it, not having it? Not having you don't run a pick route. We got the option kiing the Hall of Fame option king. We have two one on the yard receivers, and somehow we hit Zeke on a quick out. Didn't to give a chance to read against against Kendricks,
one of the best couple of live babies. Can't. I'm looking like you gotta be come on, man, he was gonna turn the corner. He was gonna turn the corner to take over cold easily and run these routes across the middle of shake cross. And we came up with a let's line up an empty and they said they're gonna stop Zeke. Nah, I'm gonna wrong. We ain't gonna let h run, he gonna diving. We got him with this thought. He had a call their parents on and be like, oh, that was a bad play call, but
he saved us. But that it just it just didn't give it didn't let Dak do what he had been doing best pretty much this whole season. Mind receiver, make the throw, make something happen. And it just wasn't feel like it was a bad decision. All right, players lounge, We've got more to get to about this game, and ultimately we'll dive into one of the Cowboys playoff chances.
We'll do that. But up next, a culinary debate that Danny McCray and I had will bring you into a church because I really feel like this is this is offensive with Danny's trying to do it's offensive. Will die no official than this life conversation we had give us was disrespectful. Next right here, I'm Jay Nobachek, former tight end for the Dallas Cowboys. Back in the day. Um, I knew he's always on the other side. He's always scaredy you guys setting the players, the media gonna be right here all along. I bet you I went to talk to special teams after. I bet they didn't go find him.
They went, I'm ahead, take up myself. Okay, after the game, I didn't go in the lit room because I had to come right on the field because the game was on NBC, So right after the game, I'm right there. So I didn't go in the locker rooms, right there on the field, um doing my things. I didn't get you having to make the decision. I didn't have to go in the locker room. Got be that guy, you know what after a game like that? Yeah, I just got was like, Pat, don't you good to go in there?
He was our first and only guess so far the show. Yeah, man, you know all right, So grits and a staple of the American southern diet. You're from Pittsburgh, it's a must. And I was heavy with the gritz. You're from Pittsburgh, so I wasn't sure your your grit experience or not. But Danny and I, being guys who who were South dirty South grits, were on there. So I can't remember who brought it up. I just saw you tweeted. It might have been my boy Xavier Pope or jes Holly,
I can't remember. It wasn't Jesse, okay. And he said he likes sugar and grits, and I said, that's a no, like just outright, no, I'm not putting sugar. It's not cream of wheat. Okay, sugar and the grit you mix it up. I'm gonna give I'm gonna give you my go His Hop grits recipe. All right, it's a grit recipe. Just get you some regular grits first, all right. You get that, you put it in the bowl. Get you some syrup. Put that in there, a little dad with
sugar and some grape jelly. Stir all that up. You got you. You got you a nice mix. And do you dip your toes in the Okay? None? None, that's not grits, man, that's crear. What's the first thing I said that I have never ever heard ever but grit and sugar ever grit, sugar and butter. Yeah, okay, now now this is okay, good black you told me you so, this is don't forget the dip your toast and it has to be toasted. Toast I'm trying to get. I'm rolling with a biscuit. Listen, put it on the biscuits.
Put the eggs on that, a little bacon. Make your sandwich. Now. Butter and grits just playing not my thing. That's how my dad did it for a long long time. Like, I don't want these grits. I want these gris. Then I found cheese, cheese grits. That's so so, some butter, some cheese. I'm good. Give yourself some options though. I found bacon. Oh oh yeah, some bacon, some cheese, and bam, that's it. But I know I don't put sugar in them.
I don't want them sweet. That's cream and wheat. If I want cream and wheat, cream wheat, I'm not putting it in grit You're just sitting in sugar grits. You're serving up Hello, my favorite Halloween. Can't he want to ask about grits. I pull this lit from the side, sugar and everything. How much did you put your back in the day about serving up talking about that. That's the same house we put sugar rice. If they had rice, I put sugar now everything. Look, I am the sugar freak. Okay,
when you don't, I don't. I don't smoke, I don't drink my vice in life and probably sugar. Me and sugar. We didn't sugar freak when we've been too friendly. But I don't do it in the grand Try to recipe, man, Try to get a spoonful. You'll be all right, man to try. You try. If you try, you tell me it's nasty. You just don't like. I don't know about the jelly, but the srub. I'm gonna let Church try first after we work out tomorrow. So you're going, Danny, sugar,
a few grits, not a lot of grits. Syrup and grape jelly, yeah, yeah, grape grape is grape is good with toast. And I also I got my eggs and stuff on there. So at the end of the at the end of the middle, I just started all together. I put it on top of toast, so it was like the bargest boards in the boat. I got the bowl. Yeah, yeah, it's a boat. It's one of those big bowls, you know, the cereal boats. Country crock. Uh, it's a country crock.
It's not a real bowl. It's a left over from the butter that you had the last time you got as a bowl. So let me ask this because because this is how it works. Sound who first made this for you? My big sister. She put sugar on everything. If we don't have grits, then she made rice. That's how I got the sugar rice sugar, right, yeah, I've never heard that sugar sugar. You know you haven't lived rights you making rice, putting everything, got a little got
a little bit rice never heard you know what. He don't want it because he think he gonna get he gonna get it. Come. That was in the Giants game, the Cowboy Giants game they have they had rice footing. You know. That's that's I'm not putting in. You guys going over to a pandix fress putting sugar on your rice. I don't know. It was a substitute for the grits. So it also goes for breakfast. Pandis preson for breakfast. We didn't have grits in the pantry, so we had rice.
It was minute rice too, so you get a quick bottle water boos, let us. I put butter in the rice, got butter and rice. We got to him yet. Knock. That's a Houston thing. That's he just said from the bird way up north. Okay, we're gonna get you. I'm good, I'm good, I will Yeah, I ain't coming to your house with brunch. So you kids prepared to be disappointed. Sugar and everything. Kids on the back. Do you know what? My kid knocked my head phone out? All right, no,
stop stop stop that fine. Let me let me continue, Let me continue, as gonna say, let me continue to make Danny Danny's day here. Um. Ohio State is currently number one to college footballer. I spoke with Devin that Smith to the locker room last week with Clarence Hill and and and Jack Taylor. We discussed whether or not
Ohio State should have been number one. I hope your discussion came out as no. Well, I wanted to get his opinions as the Buckey wanted to get his opinion, and he felt that they should have been and um My, my thing was simply, it'll be a one week deal. Whoever Bama, whoever won the Alabama Las Who game, was gonna go elevate themselves. And so they've got the College Football Playoff ranking tonight and then you know they do it over in grape Vine. So that's where the College
Football Playoff is headquartered, right there, Great Vine across the street. Yeah, the Big twelve is on on one side of the street. Big Twelve headquarters on the other side of the street. So where they have the college for I know where to go if we not number one to night, yeah, all right, yeah, and the final and the final ranking, they'll do the final ranking over at the Gaylor Word Hotel. But you never really answered that. You said it's a
one week thing, so you try to stay neutral. Should Ohio State have been number one, I wouldn't have put in there, thank you. Yeah. But at the same time, you know, I'll freely admit I'll have the sec bias there. Um, I just think it's the gauntlet that you go through is tougher than it is in the Big Ten. But I also I am of this has always been my
opinion with this thing. I believe they throw some of this stuff out here for TV purposes and to go ahead and get people debating and talking and to throw it off the center. Well, we don't want to hear that say it's sec BI. So we're gonna put Ohio State number one. The winner of the Alabama LSU game is LSU should be number one tonight and Ohio State will fall that it didn't. Thus more debate. Will should Ohio State be knocked down? They didn't. They put the
whooping on on Maryland. They did their part. Watch. I do think a lot of this is theatrical. Where does Obama go? They got to be out of the top four, they lost, so they lost by five. What does Bama go? Because you got one spot love now? So who I'm trying to ask? You got Oklahoma and Bailey playing this week, so put them out? What you got? How state right now? Or last state? Penn State lost right and sold to Alabama, So Penn State, Penn State might not even be in
the top ten. And see, here's an interesting thing. Because Minnesota State is undefeated and Penn State lost on the road, Alabama lost at home. How do you factor that in? Does that matter? Or is it the fact that LSU, in my opinion, is the better football team. You lost, you lost at home, but you lost to a football team that has an argument to be the number one team in the country. Penn State did not lose to a team that that that has that So I mean,
there's that. That's the once again, it's the beauty of the TV show of what they want to put out there and how how you throw it out there. I am of the opinion, having watched that football game, that these are two evenly matched football team teams and LSU was better that day. Yeah, this is an Alabama football team. We're gonna talk about the four best teams in the country. I think Alabama is one of the four best teams
in the country. Would agree, And I think last week we saw the two best you know, arguably two of the four best teams, if not two of the best three teams in the country. Do you put Clemson in there, put in the top They'll be there based on being undefeatable. Hold on, We did all this as the LSU Tigers just for y'all to come out here and say that Alabama and LSU are equal. If we just went in the house and beat them. We had a twenty point lead on this team. We are the better team. Not
that night. We are the better team. We not evenly match. We have the better quarterback, we have the better group of receivers running backs maybe equal, maybe equal, but we are not even our receiver. Our group, our group they have they have, they have two. We have three tight running back And then you and brought us in helmet need to go do that little podcast play. Hey, you
watched it, you watched at you. I didn't get to watch most of he gonna come ahead and give some real insight about I was getting ready to have your backs. Where are you? Listen? They were about twenty radio points and I got to hear everybody talking about all the fumbles and listen that people fumbled as part it's part of the games, part of the part. The game went into the house while they was ranking number three, and
we beat them, unless you wam were defeated. They Now we gotta hub, we gotta Hugsbar from runner our team who just what he proved I told you going through all the what I told you say they were number one? You did okay, huh, yes I did. And then and then after that he said yeah, but Alabama it's just as good. They just wanted as good as them. That day, as I said, Joe Burrow that jumped over to He proved it. We talked about this earlier. They would go against each other and one of them we out build
each other, and Joe Burrow did it. Joe Burrow for Husman. Popados. We on our way, baby, We on a way to Popados. We will see. Was I right by these? I will tell you this. I'll tell you this. I'll tell you Texas, by Alabama, Ohio Stateman, all you got all right there together? Better we travel, Our stadium is better. Everything is better about the way. Who was who was the young man? It was crying. The coach was holding him and the best what's his name? Video? Right side the video? What
do then? Ojaran was crying? Just shows you that's what I mean when you beat, when you beat the man, when you beat the standard, you know, that's how much it means to you had to crying on the so he watched the clip. You well, you know what the dude was crying for because he got passed up on by all of the schools that he's played against, and he got a chance to prove them wrong, and he had the biggest game of his life. As I said, Barry, that's what happens when it it means that much more.
When you beat saving, you you beat standard, means more if they go back to who you got, if they have to, if they have to rematch who you got l okay, let's you and the rematches within. So then that did a better team. Yeah, you can't say even, but it was better that day. But but on a different day, maybe Alabama win. Let's see it, right, Let's take a break. Let's take a break, and when we come back, we'll get back into the Dallas count playoff chances.

It was technically by league because I couldn't get the plane. So let's let's talk about the Cowboys playoff chances. There are seven games left in the season. Cowboys are the five and full record, tie with the Eagles first place. The record of these teams is thirty two. Thirty and one starts Sunday in Detroit. We don't know if Detroit will have quarterback Matthew Stafford and then after that is
a road game against the New England Patriots. They end the month of November with this game Thanksgiving their game at home against the Buffalo Bills. All Right, gentlemen, Cowboys playoff chances? What you got I'm thinking if we're going to percentage wise, I'm I'm gonna say the percentages. I'm gonna give them seventy five. Let's let's go this way. What you want to do? Seven games left? Ye? Last year, second half of the season, Cowboys is fantastic. The lost
one game starts. They had to get backed up against the wall in order to come out and play that. So they're sitting here at five and four. Where do you think their record ends up being? I called ten and six to start to see so that was what I had called. Um So that just means if they're gonna go ten and six down to stretch here where we got seven games left, I mean they got five and two. They gotta go five and two to make me look like no newstradamis I'm ten to six. You
ten and six? Still? So you got five and two? Man? Yeah, based off what I've seen, Church, Yeah, I'm gonna have to go I'll go ten and six with y'all. Is he the tennis six? You say nine seven, go Ahead's okay, so I might go nine to seven just just because it's new year in church. I got eleven in five, all right, So we got ten and six and nine and seven. Put me down for eleven and five. It's on paper now eleven. Don't lose one Patriots. Listen. Huh listen, yeah, listen.
I have not been wrong since I've been on the players loud. That's about the football. Let's don't sleep on the Jets. There was the previous one before that one. I said, you said that was on your on your can we can we double up? No no, no, no, no no no no no. The Tigers was at two different times. Okay, So the Hidian race stays the same. So okay, all right, So having in five, I didn't say it was gonna lose to the Patriots. I tear
you got one lost in there. Yeah, so they're gonna be the last game is the one that's gonna lo because because they already So you got you got eleven and five, what we put got wheel, I'm about I'm losing this, Okay, to lose something. Episode I'm trying not to go to that restaurant, trying. I'm trying to get out of I see, I see a window. I can run through here Church. So it's not a bet I wanted to make. And five got you. Yeah, no, I think, uh, I think we're really about to get roller. That is
playing amazing. So we got we got to Detroit and one you got six one Buffalo to Detroit. But Detroit, I know you got Philly somewhere in there. Buffalo. Then
it's Chicago, and then Philly, Philly. That's the isn't the I think it's the Ram, the Rams of the Fifteenthmber RAMSI twenty seconds Philly, Philly's Washington, Washington washing the game that we lose, okay on purpose, not on purpose, but you know some people, that's I mean, that's a tough like I'm saying, nine to seven, you got this happens when you look at that schedule. Name one of those
teams literally, because the Patriots just got embarrassed. One of those teams who have not been beaten, and we don't who we really don't have a chance to beat that. We don't have a beat anybody, no I anybody, So none of those are for sure loss. Right, we can go ahead and we can and we can pick up which one do you believe is a sure loss? New England? Why they just they just got embarrassed to leap running quarterbacks in the game. That's something about Jerry saying he
wanted no Lamar Jackson. What he said, want to us is us legs song out dueling. Bill Belichick his team, his team. We would say that about Harbor, I'll do, but he did Ring. He's got a ring Detroit. If Stafford don't play, if Staffor don't hit detroits terrible Detroit, we man, well, you can put them off. Then you know, it's about the trans I hate to say that, but it's really about us and how we come out of Detroit. Was in that game against the Bear. I mean, he's risky.
Come on, so I'm just saying. I'm just saying, you know who's who Detroit was the kid from Florida thing right, drift School. Come on, he's not gonna You're not gonna do that. New No, You're not gonna do that. All you come which two games do they lose? I'm gonna say what two games they're gonna You know you got three games. You got three. I did go, so pick pick three more, pick three of them teams on there. You think they canna lose to the Patriots. I hope
they don't. You so right now Patriots, Okay, I think Philly gonna get him and the next go around because at Philly's and then um it's gonna be a shocker. But but can't sleep on Buffalo, man, Buffalo's coming here though, ruh, yes, yeah, so then you can't sleep on Buffalo. They got good defense. Cod Beasley revenge game. Actually, Cole Beasley's been playing what you go, like six TD you've been playing well, what here we go? Just wrote down man that needs some tea.
He's been playing well yeah, okay, I mean he has like six to receiving they got six tons. Yeah, no, he's in the red zone. He's like okay, So I said, Washington, you have Buffalo, New England and the Rams not Rams on. I don't like Buffalo in New England, Philly, Philly. I think Phillly gonna get him in the next goal you listen, pick too, now, don't go don't go neutral Rams New England. You got the Rams is raised the Ram or here
in la he is here, Uncle were coming? Hey until until once again we're talking about when I look at New England and also look at the Rams. These are two teams who can run the football. And what do we know with the Cowboys? Can you stop their run? And they can match up on the outside, they could put eight in the box. As been running the ball well offensively, the Ram tra offensively right now. It looks to me right now with the way Jared Golf is playing,
I'm trying to figure everything. I can stop the run. But all I know is through the years, even when the Rams were good, remember back, remember that time, pac Man Jones, it's the Rams, dude. Next thing you know, they've had issues with the Rams through the years. This is true. I don't think the Rams gonna run the ball on the way Phillips Way felt Wait wait still salty, you know, wait still. I got one loss, Ski mask Golf, I got one loss on now I think it's gonna
be the last one. Could possibly be New England possibly, I mean they match up well. Actually they go to Chicago on twelve five. It's Thursday game in Chicago. Socks out there, Chicago or washing at the end, MVP Mitch getting it done. No, it's not Mitch. The defense Ye you young Khalil, That's what I'm talking about. Took that man. They took Bisky third. I still can't wrap my head around, now, will you? Then they trade up to two trade over two quarterbacks. I do got a question though, speaking of
the Cowboys playoffs opportunities. Do you think this this defense can go only go as far as that linebacker trio can take them? You think that's that's the heartbeat, that's the glue. I don't want to put it just on them. I think it's it's they can't be weak at any level because it all affects, you know, everything affects you know it all it's all right there. I mean they're
not this This isn't see the eighty five Bears. I mean this is you know, if the d line's not playing well, it's gonna be a propt the linebackers play. If the dbs, I mean, it's they've got to be a complete you gotta be true. They have to be a true When did they play their basket when they played together as a as a true unit. So they can't afford anyone, anyone slip. We didn't get our football phrase the day, so I want to make sure we
get that before we run out of here. So in that situational football, that's the football football, situational football, and and this came up uh in Church touched on it a little bit earlier with the fair catch right situational football. Right, there are two situations that you focus on in that UH In that particular instance, one, you have five six seconds left. You want to get a chance to get
to hell Mary. You think that the punt will give you wherever it lands at you will have that quarterback has enough arm to get it to the end zone. So you tell them automatically fair catches, so we have some time to run this last hell Mary play. Second situation is you run a hold up like you did there, and you assume that with was it thirteen seventeen seconds stuff that you can get a return, get some yards, get out of mounds, and then maybe you run a
play and then talk to the ten end zone. Situational football. These are things that we go over in practice and in training camp all throughout the year for when these when these things come up, we're prepared for it. It's not like everybody's shot. Same thing with going forward on fourth down and two point versions in situational football. I guarantee you that throughout training camp and OTAs they stop practice.
Jason Garrett sut got them all on the huddle and he said, hey, the situation here is we need fourth and two with this mini seconds stuff, and we need to figure out how to get it done right. So this is something that goes on throughout training camp through our OTAs. So when you see this type of stuff come up and you say, hey, man, the coaches, this is all on JG. This is on this person whatever.
Most of the time, you would hope that they've been in this situation and they've repped it and repped in and repped it, so they know what to do in this in this moment. And unfortunately, in the play that we saw earlier, situational football was just it was not up to par. I mean we saw it. I mean they practice it every Friday, every every fast Friday. It's a two minute, it's a hail Mary situation, it's a fair catch. It's some situations that we used to go
over that you'd be like, we do no mis. So we have a situation called no miss right, So you have one minute left in the game and you're down by six. I'm sorry, you're down by one, whatever, whatever it is. You're down by certain a certain amount of time the opposing you're on defense, the offense can run out the rest of the clock. Going back to what you talked about with the punt, So just just pulled it up here, twenty three seconds left, twenty three when
when when they ended up making the punt. So the Cowboys had the ball first and ten at the forty six with twenty four seconds left, and he's kind of going back to what you were saying, trying to save some time versus by by making the fair catch versus running there. So maybe if he runs, takes what maybe seven maybe seven or the way that was set up, probably ten because he's running an end zone. But yeah,
I got you at least to the thirty. Yeah, yeah, but so you you would have I would look, the yard's gonna say, it's it's yeah, it's what do you want to trade? Do you want to trade time or you want to trade yards? And clearly from what you're saying, having been a special team's guy, there was a lot of yards to gain right there. Which would have been worth the time because you were already trying to get
that back once you got the football. Anyway, Well, because what happens is if you listen honestly, if you're gonna call fair catch, if you're gonna tell the return of the call fair catch, then you run a punt block, not a hold up. Right, So now you're like defeating the purpose of even having that situation going. If I'm telling a table to call fair catch, then I'm rushing everybody. We're trying to go block the punt. There's no point. You're just wasting He just way seen your ute your
guys on that communication. Listen, it made no sense. Situational football, which also involves communication, was just not up the bar and out. You gotta find out what happened, Yeah, you gotta get you no names. I'll try to find out what actually happened, but there will be no names or a finger from my friends on the other side of that building. Let me, let's spend the last two minutes
you're talking about. First of all, we know Prescott and Cooper were sensational in the game day, with three hundred and ninety seven yards passing through three Touchdownsmari Cooper caught one of those touchdowns and in the game eleven catches one hundred forty seven yards better Combo DAKAMRII or Tony Romodas Bryant guys, you I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go. Dass. Tony just offer a simple fact that the touchdowns, I mean they're they're in the record book of the connection
they had together. I mean, he's a had of her. I think like seventy some touchdowns with with Rome not over time. Maybe if they get them both signed here again for the future, they can take that over. But just off of history, alan STA's a loan, that connection was historical. Yeah, I'm going U Dans and Romo for those reasons and the chemistry that they had. It was more of less of them having to run the right
routes and do all that stuff. It was he saw Da Davis knew he was learn the ball and it was so many of those instances where it was jump ball for Daz and Romo could put it right. Basketball players and they you know they because of their height, they went to football, but they're both basketball play. Tony all state basketball guy in Wisconsin. We know des basketball ability, it seemed at times, and that's what they were doing, just kind of like looking at each other on the
basketball court. Nowhere to go. But I'll say this, with these two guys both being free agents, I expect them to be cowboys. Talking about Cooper and Dak. They're both young. You put this, you put these guys together here for another seven or eight years, and they should be able to make some challenges to those numbers because they have a chemistry. I mean, he got I think that nineteen
touchdowns or something. He's going crazy. But I mean, and that's to me, that's like team and scheme and all that just with them, with Daz and Romos, and that was like they had a connection. He knew and he was gonna it was every time you got that Alabama receiver right there, business Rollo took rolling out here like Oldell Beckham junior with all these issues and everything. All right, that is the players show. That's wait wait wait wait wait,
you have something.
