The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club. Cowboys. This is the player's loud broadcasting live from Dallas Cowboys World headquarters at the Star. No. Your hosts Barry Church, Danny mccraig, and Nui Scrugs. Here we are everybody's Monday. He is loud right here. You muted. Damn my boy, late boy, late boy? Muted? Man, what's going on out here? Make sure it's not red? Okay, make sure it's not red. There. There we go. Boy,

we come from San Fa. We had a red eye red eye last night. No no, no, no, no, no, got the future. I'll tell you what. Now. We we were here last night watching watching Luca Gett dunked on. Yeah, we're here. We were here real quick man, and that boy got post rash. That was that was uther. I ain't I thought this was gonna call a file. They did call it. I'm saying no and keep it. Nothing to do. I'm just saying, you dunk on me, and you and you hit me with an elbow like that. Look.

I just seen Jordan. I seen Jordan dunk on posts. I see a lot of people get dumped on and they all even had to you know what I'm saying. Any he hit them with, he hit what he hit the too much you do it. But you know it's a poster. That was a poster. That was a poster for show h Yeah that was that was three Curson, it was. It was what it was. But yes, three in the series. So it's over. It's yeah and told now it's just doesn't matter. Can you just get it

to five? You played game four the Mars or Pride games. By the way, this is the players that he's dan't even crazy. I'mnwa scrugs. Yeahs out all three in the Western convers finals. But I will simply say this, and I've been saying that since the Utah's heres, everything's gravy. Didn't expect him to be that, didn't. I just didn't did not expect them to get this far. There's a

whole lot of learning going on. Sitting there in Game two in San Francisco when they were up nineteen, and I tweeted it out at halftime because a bunch of Math fans getting all giddy and people around me, I said, third quarters coming, this is when they do their damage. Why can't they figure out this boxing one whatever, this zone that they running in The minute I see Golden State hopping in the zone, I'm like, oh, we got nothing.

They they gonna track, looking's gonna give it up and then they just gonna We're gonna go next and they just don't do it. They don't take it. They don't try to get the basketball, nothing, drive it. Okay, that was on the run. Steve Kirby like, run the zone, double him. I ain't gonna do Look and uh's Finney smith Man. They couldn't hit the bride side of a barn. Yes, any went like like that. It was terrible. It was bad. I do love how NFL players loved the NBA. I mean,

that's that's their jam. I'm we wish, at least myself. I wish I was a hooper, Like I wish I had those skills to go on the court. Man, what you don't get your helmet on, you get all the visuals you I mean, you're like a rock stars. The pay is way better. I wish I was a church invited me to La Fitness one time and I saw his hooper skills and I was dropping. Don't let this man confusing. We got ran off the court. People was going against the shortest dude over there. It was about

six four, so we ran off. I dropped some buckets too, though, you know I had I had about four. You know, you go about one's playing a twelve. I had about four, so I translate to eight. But yeah, I'm telling you, man, I wish I had skills. I wish I wish I had them skills. I said, man, it is it is. You saw them home since the game yesterday. So I mean,

football players love the game, man. And then a lot of guys, and it's very interesting as you talked to players a lot um we're basketball players deep into their high school careers, and then they just kind of all right, did you get the growth is good? Stopped? We were

talking to Sean Lee. We had Sean Leon and Sean leetom I was a basketball he was the real deals got to that point where okay, this is it Tony Roll people forget Tony Rosa basketball was All State in Wisconsin and was on the All State team with Karon Butler and and Karon Butler was in his district and Karen was on the Maverick twenty eleven NBA Championship team. But yeah, Tony six two and a half, I mean, boom,

he stops. People get shocked all. Had a lady in the airport San Francisco tell me, yeah, Steph Curry so small, I said, he's sixty three. I just looks short on the court of the guys. He's tall. Dude though, like if you stay in that he's over. That's what makes the like Nate Robinson like those guys. But well when you see them be able to do what they were doing against dudes that this seven feet tall Nate Robinson with dunking on dude six five six six. Look at

Chris Paul. Chris Paul like six even. But Chris Paul, he ain't even six foot. He's still out there. I've stood next to Chris and hey, they they the heights are pumped up. Speaking of hey man, my man got the shot off from big Dog Shack the kid the shock this you ain't saying see that what you say? Knew he saved his life and everything. Man, wait, wait, hold on, hold on, train did all that saved shock life and then he gave him a shout out saying hey to his daughter. Man, I'm telling it was when

he happened, it was nice. Please please let us know about this man, what was going on? I tried in San Francisco and I get done with my lives. Shop a boy walking to the locker room and I see skill. He I said, my daughter doesn't really think I know you. I said, let's let's take a picture. What's her name, Sophie, Sophie a wash And then he cut a video as though that kind of video the kind of pay mccrazy to do. Yeah, boy kind, they pay mc cray mc money to do. Who's who you beat from with y'all

don't like no interviews or something? I think you get a video from t o then we player. This was from this from my child. I don't want the player. I don't need the player for my child. Five. She knows the shacts. She knows the Shactus and Barkley. That's all she knows. So and we were I was, we will get to the cowboys. We will get to the cowboys. So I was thanking the pr staff that helped me

with a story on Reggie Bullock that we did. And he was casually talking to the guys and T and T's like, yeah, we got him a horse, so we're good. I was like a horse. He says, yeah, they wanted a horse for the pregame show. Barkley, Charles Barkley rode in on a horse outside female An Airline centers. Not he wrote, on a horse first, how you get up there? Look it up? They got them stairs. Yeah, tried to get on the Cowboys. You know, they got the stairs.

Getting getting fun to watching Charles get on that was that was a lot of fun. And it what hit me him tying it back to the Cowboys. This is the second San Francisco team that's ending up playoff. Bye bye bye down space team here, so supporting nine. He's got the Cowboys Warriors about to get the Mavericks here. And and I had someone asked me Matt Dog Radio said, hey, have the Mavericks overtaking the Cowboys and turns of fantasis. I said, uh no, it'll and it won't never happen.

They can go out there and win two back to back finals and this will still be a Cowboys base DFW area metroplex. It's just how this is. This is everything. And we were talking about us who was it? The mayor was talking about bringing another team in here. I'm like, man, ain't they ain't no way that's gonna happen. It ain't. No wait, somebody he made because they didn't put the stadiums in Dallas and all the other stuff. And I don't know the history behind it, but I'm sure reason

for why. I'm sure they tried, and it did. Jerry looked down at their fair park. The mayor at the time, um Laura. I can't remember her last name, but anyway, she basically said, you want it, you pay for it, trying to help, you know, Laura, Laura Miller, We're not We're not paying for stadiums here. Now. She was a conservative, and conservative principles if you apply them, tell you you know what, We're not using public funds to pay for your stadium. You're the cowboys, you're the NFL. You pay

for it. Arlington, on the other hand, said, hey, we got half million dollars and they had people vote on it. And I was living in Arlington at the time, and Bill Parcels was here. They had Parcels out there pitching the stadium. I mean, they had me pushing it, are I mean? And that was Jerry's that he got it built. So half million dollars went to Jerry Jones, and taxpayer have a billion million gonna do that. I'm talking about, thank thank you, thirty five hundred million dollars. And so

that's how how it got built. So that's so Dallas had an opportunity but did not take advantage of it. And he's mad at the hockey team. He mad at the baseball. Hockey team may leave too. Okay, first saw was it twenty twenty two. Five years, you may not have any team playing in that venue five years, Mark marks lead. Mark's gonna build his across the way. They already got some they already been working on land. So he's gonna build a new arena across the way because

all these all these you want your own building. Have your own building, then you can do other events outside of just owned. So that's where everybody's trying to make it an entertainment venue. Everybody's looking at what Jerry's done, and they're trying to do in. The Angels are trying to do it for baseball. They're out of town here, mean they got no grass. You know, seth fakes up. So when they leave, this tractor pools its concours as everything.

It's whatever they can get in there to make money. So Mark's gonna go build his own stadium and have that over there, and then the Stars Starts may leave too. Stars could end up going to Arlington, Starts getting to go to First I mean, there's going to be options. So I wouldn't be surprised. Eric johnsonby ain't nobody in town. Man, ain't gonna have no sports teams well outside of Mark Marcos stay in Dallas. So Marcols just go across the way thirty. You have Mark, but the hockey team who knows?

Who knows? Maybe so much. Having a stadium downtown bring so much business in there, like all those boards and restaurants that are trying to be right around that way. It's look, man, everybody's traded to the art in fair Park. It would have been a state of the art facility up there in Fair Park. You know, you wouldn't have had players living all the way out of Firstco. There would have been more people coming into Dallas. Man. Yeah, they would have been pracing somewhere in the city. I

swear them. That's where for football, that's where the money's made. The practice facility because you guys knows where guys don't live around it. And to me, I go back to for Arlington, you had Jerry build, you know, Jerry World right over there where Texas where the Texas Rangers are Texas lie but across the way where they used to have the old six Flags Mall. The other side where they had the old six Flags mall, they had all them strip clubs and used car lots, all that over there.

That's what they should have gave Jerry some more money and land to go have the practice. Put that over there, and then you'd have had the practice facility right over there by the stadium, and then you could have got players and more money within right over there. What has done to Frisco. I mean, it's just so we would all we've all been driving up to Arlington. Thank you for not giving him. Okay, I'm enjoying my time Frisco.

But actually, what would have happened for for you know, those with money like Barry west Lake the same way they are irving, that would have been much of a difference you'd have had You'd have had the rookie free ain't living out in an artics in an eight eight and a couple of cats, no trouble, which right like lake Ford, That's how Chicago was out there in lake Forest and were nothing out there in Lake Forced, they would have had more Arlanston than lake Forest because it

literally wasn't nothing out there in lake Forest and sat place. They're moving to Arlington Heights, so that's gonna be where they're gonna where that racetrack was. They're gonna build the stadium with the racetrack. And once again they're all trying

to They're all trying to copy Jerry. How can we go out here and make a facility a whole you know, we want we want sports for our football team, other things and retail and shops, and so what we see with Stan Cronky has done that's all built off a racetrack as well well Hollywood Park and everything that he's building out there. It's gonna be a phenomenal, you know, facility. But everyone is copying Jerry Jones. There's really two owners I think of that really have trans formed the way

people see um venues and sports teams. Jerry West I means Jerry Buss, who had to buy for sixty two million. I was being told yesterday by Ray Ritter, who used to work for the Lakers now works for the Wars. He bought the Kings, the Lakers and the Forum for sixty sixty two sixty two million dollars, and then Jerry Jones bought Texas Stating and the Cowboys for like a

buck eighty nine turned it into five points something billion. Right, Okay, let's not act like sixty two and a buck eighty nine ain't a lot of That's a lot, time, Yeah, a lot. Yeah, that's a lot right now. Just amazing investments of all time, Amazing investments of all time. All right, Um, Cowboys, that was Cowboys. Not another team coming in here to try to split time with the Cowboys and not gonna

have a hard time people in the building too. Jerry, it happened, guarantee that I did not hear one thing about the forty nine ers when I was in San Francisco, not one thing, not one. I wonder, why don't they just had a nice run? I mean, you would think the city would still be a buzz. And that's kind of the difference between that town in this town. We're still talking about the Cowboys and Cowboys or front and center.

I saw one Niners jacket and I saw one T shirt. Well, now, okay, because Golden State went through a town where they were on the way to being a dynasty, all right, so a lot of people were transforming into Golden State fans. Oh yeah, absolutely, it started to becoming a basketball city. And then now they're rolling how they're rolling down. This is the total opposite of what we got going on here in Dallas. Well and the baseball state of the Giants.

Have you never been the best ball park in the country I've ever been to, But they've won they starting in two thousand and ten. They ended up winning three World Series and they basically won two thousand and ten, two, two thout fourteen, and then you look at the Warriors run. They started winning in the twenty fifteen one three championships. Then, so you've got two of the franchises in town that, if not just one, put up three championships and start play.

They got guys to take take you out of looking at who the football team is. You're looking at Deebo Samue and Jimmy Garoppolo versus Clay and stuff. People are they gravitating toward clans? And look at the national commercials I mean, you know Clay and you got three those and Buffalo stuff got all these commercials Jimmy Jimmy Garoppolos and a subway commercial. Oh he died. He just everybody got a subway that what's going on. They picked up

everybody that they passed. But they also have Steph Curry. I bet Steph Curry commercial logan. It runs a lot, it runs more. It runs a lot, it runs a lot more. And I just it was just very interesting just thinking about looking at their football team out there. And by the way, during that run from twenty ten, when the Giants started winning in in the Warriors, the Niners played in the Super Bowl twice, just didn't win them, just just did not win them. But nor Harball took

them and they ended up losing to the Ravens. And then then you had Kyle Shanahan take the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. But it just wasn't on the radars, and I just kind of found interesting because you know, Cowboys still on the radar. I mean I found myself out there doing talking about the Cowboys, like you know, Mark Cubans, only the team's just two thousands. Is a

fourth trip to the Western Conference Finals. During that time, the Cowboys have yet to play in the NFC Championship game at all to get to the final four and their sport. And yeah, it still comes back to the Cowboys, because this is a Cowboys towns. The first professional team here in Dallas Fort Worth in nineteen sixty That's when the Cowboys got here. Rangers get here in nineteen seventy two, Mavericks get here in nineteen ninety Stars in nineteen ninety three.

So this they've had the head start they've won. I mean, you think about it. By the time the Rangers got here, the Cowboys had won their first World championship nineteen seventy one. So this town is always going to be about the Dallas Cowboys, the football towns, the football state. It's just ingrain and what people do from the time they grow up, just football, and it matters. Maverick's winning is good any football season, Hey, football season. We got OTA's coming up

this week, you know. So we're going to get right back into the Cowboys and we'll take a break. And I want to ask this question, who, in your mind has the best opportunity to be Dak Prescott's number two target outside of c d Land to start the season, because they've already said Michael Gallup right, Michael Gallup's expected to miss two maybe three games to start the season. So let's hit our first break here on the Players Lounge and talk about that number two targets that Cowboys

We're brought to you by Hotels dot com. He is buried Church Danny McCray. Undrafted free agent Saintings for the Cowboys. They are now here doing their thing. I'm new, he scrugs. OTAs coming up this week? What advice would you give the undrafted rookies about how they should go about their jobs this week?

Let me tell you something, undrafted rookies. What you should do is go find coast fossil. You make sure that you are in his ear and you're asking him what you need to do to make the squad, because most likely you're going to have to be a special teams contributor, probably playing at least four of them core game. So you got to be a core special teamer unless you're just some special talent to where they automatically gonna make

you're a starter. And if you're thinking that way, you're probably ain't gonna be one, all right, So make sure you find out what you need to do to make the team and contribute on special teams and go out there and give it everything you got. Get in your playbook. Don't be one of those guys who goes out there and doesn't know what the assignment was the night before.

Right when you get out there, and make sure you're able to make your checks, make your calls and uh and fulfill your responsibility on offense or defense, because what you don't want is to get in that film room and they say this, dude, this is a guy who cannot pick up offense or defense, so we cannot depend or trust him to put them in the game without

a doubt. You one hundred percent right. And what these undrafted guys gotta understand is you know, when you're drafted, they're gonna get they're gonna make excuses, especially if you're in the top three rounds, they're gonna make excuses for why you you didn't show up or you didn't you know, play to your best of your abilities. When you're undrafted, you don't get those excuses. You don't. It's either you can play or you can't play. So mccrai is one

hundred percent right. You gotta go find your special teams coach. That's what me and him did. We went to Dicon Milliss even though we felt like we were playing good on defense, we went to Dicon. Millisson was like, man, what can we do to further our you know, career basically with Dallas Cowboys, and he's become a core special teamer. And that's what we did. We took it to heart and ended up proving, um, you know, dividends for us. But as an undrafted guy, you've got to make friends

with that special teams coordinator. You gotta make him his best friend, and you gotta go out there and not saying that defense is second string or secondary, but you gotta make special teams a priority because that's the way

you're gonna get on the football field. I mean, there's only one guy I know of that was undrafted who didn't play special teams but made the team, and that was Cole Beasley and he and he actually quit in training camp like that, quit and trading camp, came back still made the team, didn't play any special teams and that was only one instance. So you gotta know who your special teams coordinator is. And you also got to read the room. Look at the guys that you know

that won't lead you astray, all right. You like, you gotta make sure you stay away for those type of guys that'll lead you into the deep water. Joseph I was one of those guys too that hey, I'll lead you after the team real quick. But you just you gotta make sure you follow the right guys and you get you know, best friends with just secal team Cornator. That'll be the eagiest way you make the team. We had, We had some guys in our defensive back room that

you lead you astraight real quick. If you didn't know how to be responsible for yourself and your own actions, following them dudes would get you into some issues because they had already been there. They had the experience, they got a handalysts of like zero Sensi ball and Orlando Scandrid great leaders on the field, but they were events. So you can't hang with the big dogs. Don't do it. I ain't getting playbook. And you know, for the weekend comes, you don't just relax. I know it's a new city.

You want to go check it out. All what's Dallas? You know all this hoopler. Just relax, man, you know, focus on what you gotta do, OTAs because you get the weekend off and OTAs mini camp. You gotta do some things. But ots you got the weekend off. Just you know, focus and stay stay where. Yeah, yeah, you got all this ju live broll your let's focus there in June and then you know in July you go ahead, had you some fun, yeah, but not too much fun? Yeah, exactly.

Don't go to be there. So you guys both ended up signing with the Cowboys. It's undrafted free agent. Who else called you and you almost went to before deciding on Dallas? Thenny nobody like Dallas was my first call and my agent told me straight up, Hey, I think this is the best situation for you yeah, and I was done. I didn't. I didn't expect to get me any more calls anyways. But the fact that Dallas was the one who called, I live in Houston. I've always so.

I lived in Houston. I played at LSU, so I've always been in that area. It was a no brainer for me. So if anybody else did call, what have they wouldn't have gotten for me. It came down to it was a Dallas Um Panthers and in Houston. And you know, as an undrafted free agent, you get like ten minutes to decide you know where you want to go as soon as the draft is over. So I'm first of all, I pissed off I didn't get drafted. I seen punters and kickers going. I'm like, man, this

is some bull. And then my agent call like, hey man, these three teams is going. I was like, all right, well, let me sleep on it. Nah, you ain't got a tax about fifteen minutes, ten minute na and then luckily Um Maxie had called me. Brent Maxie, who was our second safety coach at the time, called me said, hey man, Dicon millis our special teams coach loves you. He thinks you can do some great things. I think you can do some great things on defense. You know, let's make

this happen. And you know ended up, you know, making a decision end up being a good one for myself. But yeah, you gotta it's it's tough. You got about

ten minutes. Yeah, you gotta have You gotta have an agent that's good enough or there's in tune enough to be able to look at that roster that quick and say, hey man, this is how many safeties they got, this how many guys they have on long term contracts, and this is how many guys they have where you could probably overtake them because they may be old a lot of money if they make the roster, and they may be trying to go younger. So you gotta be able

to know that. And I think at that time, Dallas, it must have had some guys because if we had it Ball you think about Ellen Ball was moving from corner to safety at that time. But you had Mike Hamlin. Mike Hamlin who he was, He was a late round draft picked walking walking. Yeah, so we had we had, you know, we had some guys to where it was like we could make it a real competition to make the squad, so it worked out for us. Quassi was hurt.

Hurt when we got drafted. Were the only ones in rookie mini camp, Like we were the only two safety so like we got all the reps, all the shine, like they made sure they like we got every damn It was hard as all hell, but I mean we got every rep and I think that really helped us out going into training camp. How much does it help that the Cowboys in the last decade have not been a team that spent high draft capital or big free agent dollars at the safety position. I think it hurt

him a little bit. I think it did hurt him a little bit because I actually say, if you're a free agent, if you're undrafted, they're calling you right now, that you just look at the fact that hey, look they don't this is it's an opportunity. Yeah, I would say it's an opportunity, especially here because both of the safeties, Um Hooker and Curse. You know, Curse had a heck of a season last year, but they didn't put you know,

a great amount of you know money into There's no earl. Yeah, there's no Yeah, It's not like he's you know, guaranteed to have that for good forever. So I think if you're an undrafted guy, you gotta look at the Cowboys as an opportunity for not only to make the team, but to maybe sprinkling some defensive snaps. Um you got that opportunity here in our dolls, I believe. I'll say this.

I think they should have kept Church. But yeah, yeah, yeah, to the people that the fans wanted, which started off with Earl Thomas and then moved on, moved on to my guy from LSU, Jamal Adams. You know, like fans, this could have been us. This could have been us overpaying for some guys who aren't going to be that type of difference maker on the field, and then we

were in the hole, all right. So I think they've made some decent choices when it comes to like bringing in some guys who can play for one two years and then if they have to and they move on. But they should have they should have get very six mass with Jacksonville, because I meant it was just you knew it every year too, and every year was some guy coming on ave never weddo came and I'm like, man, just gonna have man howd started like two years I

just man, just walking in the hallways. I'm like, that's what that's how we're doing. And I knew it was me the coming from me because the next dude was what I think, Byron Jones. I'm like, I didn't get rid of buying. They just got him in the first round. So I'm like, man, these dudes, JJ, it all worked out every year. It was always somebody come come take my work. You almost did twenty minutes. It wasn't ten three three minutes, three minutes away. And I got Brady. Man,

you know we got Brady that. Yeah, So you got a great memory. You've got it. You've got a great memory. All right. Question I asked right before the break, let's dive into it. Who's the number two target that you're thinking about four? Dak Prescott after Cedde Lamb, Michael Gallup, who they signed to a multi year contract in the offseason, not expected to be ready for the first two to three football games. So right now, as we get ready to go to these OTAs, who do you think is

the number two target for number four? That's easy. Dalton Shoultz, Dalton Schultz is going to be he may be the number one target, just depending on what we saw last year and how he's become that Jason Winton type guy that that safety valve for Dak Prescott. Dak Prescott is often looking for Dalton shots. So I know that Cede Lamb is going to get those down the field and

try to make those big time plays. But Dalton Schultz is going to get a lot of targets because one, he's probably gonna be running shorter routes and then you know they're probably gonna be playing off of them a little bit and and trying to hold him from getting that first down. But last year he got I don't know how many kids, you got, eighty some catches and this is back to back. Yeah, so he's I see him getting the number two target of spot this year

as well. I'm with you on that. Now. I think Schultz He's gonna end up being that number two target, which scares me a little bit because you know, you know Schultz, he's a he's a he's a good tight end, very solid tight end. But I don't think he's dynamic enough to be that pass catcher, that option that you need to have. I'm running out of options. I can see if you want them for five yards, you know, six yards here and there and a little seven yards

you're on the goal line. Red zone threat. I can see that, But I just don't think he's dynamic enough to beat. If the defenders was like look zone, maybe he can sit down on his zone. He's a smart guy. He can be quarterback friendly, but man to man guys are focusing. I don't know if he got that dynamic wiggle to be able to do that. I don't know. You don't say you don't even root for Schultz. They want. I'm just saying they're gonna double CD and then they're

gonna put something on on shot that. I don't know. If he's dynamic enough, I don't know. I will say this. I did watch the Pittsburgh still is enough to say that I believe that if my man, James Washington can hold onto the ball, I think that he will be at least the number three getter for targets. But he has to be able to catch the ball. He got some talot bro, and he has some talent. He's curtched the fielding Pittsburgh got some talent bro because he can't

catch the ball. But That's why I said, you know this, if I've seen guys who've had who had problems catching the ball at one location, that one true, and then they moved to a different spot and they realized that, hey, this is my shot, and if I missed this one up, then I'm gonna have an issue. And they'd be sitting on the drugs for twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, and they come out here and they find a way to catch the ball. Also, coming from

Dak Prescott's arm may be different than coming from being Roethlisberger's. Like, I don't know how to this is. I don't play receiver, but I think that if he's able to hold on to the ball, he has the ability to be a big time playmaker. He just has to. You know, he got got minimize as a reporter. That's the guy I'm focused on Day's washing because is he gonna see the field? Well, yes, I mean you got y CD gonna get the rookie,

the young Tolbert. But first off, I mean, and you guys know this, how much does he understand the playbook? How many different places? Because I asked Kellen, you know, you know you have him concentrated on one spot. You have to play, so you know, so he's gonna have to learn. But if you're Washington, you think of this. This is your second this is your second opportunity. You know,

do or do not? There is no more try. I mean, if you can't, if you can't make it here not, I don't know how many more stops in the desert you're gonna get. Des Bryant tweeted about how he really thinks Dallas got themselves a real good receiver. Let's see what he can do here. The issue for him in Pittsburgh is kind of like the Cowboys know how to draft offensive line in the first round and how to find them. The Steelers know how to find and hey man,

you're slipping here. Next thing, you know what, what's a boy's name that m Claypool. Yes, Claypool passed him right there and he got the trust of Ben. But right now, to me, the opportunity for James Washington to step in here and be a viable number two target is here. You you you know, we'll see, we'll see, we'll see. But this is your opportunity. Went to Oklahoma State. Let's see what you're gonna do. I'm really looking forward to

seeing what he can do that don't match. Just makes me nervous, man, because if you look at it, we look right, it's the office we're gonna try out there. CD. James Washington maybe told her if he can pick up the system and adult shots. I mean those they're a good player. But I'm like, is that is that a dynamic enough offense to go out there and win you some games? I know we got a good defense, you know, but kill them are in the offense. Man, it's a

scheme offense. You looking for guys to just be winning one on one matchups all the time, right, You're looking for guys who can run the rocks and get open and that press. I got to hit the right guy. Do we have a guy out there like DeVante Adams to where it's it's third and six, third and seven and you know that that guy is getting the ball. Do we have that guy out there? Can CD be that guy? Maybe? But it's Kelly Moore going to allow

him the opportunity to be that guy. What we saw last year was he did not allow Mark Cooper to be that guy. So let's unless that changes who we tried out there. Really, as long as they can catch the ball and run the right route, I think that is the most important part. But if you're looking for guys who can beat guys one on one and Keller Moore is gonna allow you to do that, then then it's a different story. Is this receiving core? Is it is it? Would you say it's an upgrade over last

year or would you say it's it's a downgrade? What would you say that right now? I'm just say it's even, it's even. But what we got out of a Mark Cooper last year and for what and what you know, the plays they didn't know did call from whoever? Whoever's fault? It was whatever we got from a Mark Cooper last year, I think we can get that from other guys on the roster. And and and Noah Brown, you know, he's you want opportunity, it's here, so let's see what they

do with it. And that's that for me, That's what I'm gonna be looking at. Is they going to OTAs and going to training camp. There are opportunities here. Who's going to step forward and take advantage of those opportunities? You know what? I also have a feeling that Unfortunately for my man Zeke that Tony Poler is gonna get a lot of third down opportunities this season. I think he's gonna be getting a lot of out of the backfield opportunities, like Alvin Kamar some of those guys who

who get a lot of shots on third down. So here's a question, what about putting them both out there on the field the same time? If you have issues in terms of, hey, we don't know about another receiver. We know Tony can catch the football. Why not put both guys out there? Mean Kellen Moore's is I ain't okay the guru put something that you put a twenty person up, but then you could take Sholtalk. I'm not I'm not lying when I'm not lying in Tony poled

up at receiver. And then if I do put them in the backfield, then where am I gonna put Zeke And I'm not gonna line up in twenty personality entire again? Like that? That that limits you and what you're able to do. Like you said, Shultz has to be out or if Shoultz is out at the slot and then all of a sudden, now you gotta missmake to the slot. Because you got a corner on should so I don't see them both being on the field at the same time.

Somebody's gonna have to lose a little bit, and I could see them trusting Tony Pollard to give them more opportunities in that big playability on third day. This will be the perfect setup to just dominate in the runk game. Yeah, we got nobody on the outside. This will be the perfect setup that play action. I was reading Peter King's Monday Morning Football Comedy does over There or Football Morning in America. He's changed it too, but he came out with his power rankings that's Cowboys fifteen fifteen, and I look at it and I get it. In this media world where they want constant content, because if it's one thing we know about the NFL is you're basing it all off last year. It's like stock returns,

you're based it off all last year. Because nobody had the Bengals in the playoffs, much less winning their division, or maybe one or two blocked people away from winning the whole thing. I mean it's a big one. Yeah, yeah, really really uh And and I had I did an interview over Mad Dog Sports Radio and say, hey, what are the Cowboys winning East this year? They should win the East? I said, don't say that. I said, that's

I said all. I said, that's a little arrogant to just think that they're gonna win it because the division has been bad so many years in a row. I said, they played a first play schedule. And when we talk about it, Danny, we look at this thing and I I keep telling people, and I think people would just think I'm I'm stupid or something. But these are some real good quarterbacks on this list, and this is a

quarterback league. We start, I mean, we won. You got two dudes who played a Super Bowl, you know, Tom Brady who's won six of them, then seven. Then you got you got Joe Joe Burrow who had the football, what opportunity to win the dog on thing and his offensive line got him killed. Um that's no joke, man. But you got Matt Stafford out here. Um, you've got Aaron Rodgers. You got to go to Minnesota. And if Kirk Cousins decides how to throw the ball away, you

know he may. We've seen him put up nervous. He's beating the Cowboys before Matt Ryan and Houston are gonna come. I mean, Matt Ryan Indianapolis are coming to town. Here. Um, who knows maybe Ryan Tannehill by December twenty eight, who knows him at the backup? Who knows nobody? But but at the end of the day, just just keep going back into This is not easy. And for some reason, people tend to think that you can base your team off last year's returns and this is going to be

This is not easy. Hello, if you based it off last year's return you should not be assuming it's gonna be easy anyway, all right, because the thumps that we got from the physical teams, if that's something that we take into this year, the record you gave me, that's gonna be being graceful, all right, because it's gonna get a lot worse than that. I can just keep going back into my mind. First, you have to go through San Francisco because we're going back. San Francisco got out

there and they outphysical us, all right. They ran the ball down our throat, they stopped the some offense. And then you can go all the way back to what happened after we played Denver. Denver put a blueprint out there for teams to say, this is what we're going to do, and we saw that for the rest of the season. The rest of the season, we saw that, and we finished off with you know, the Eagle team who didn't play many of these players and stuff, and

everybody took that seriously, put up fifty up. They weren't playing the record. Yeah, of course he put five out this preseason. Yeah, undefeated in the division last year, scoring forty for averaging forty a game that gond happened this year, No, no, no, no happened one. Like I said, the final game of the Philly they didn't play any of they started right, what wasn't even competitive, all right? The Giants were who they were, Washington didn't have their foot, their quarterback who

they depended on. This is going to be a totally different year, totally different totally different teams, totally different years. So absolutely not. We need we need to become a different team anyway, what a doubt this is gonna be a different division. I mean, you know, Carson Wentz isn't the greatest quarterback, but I believe he's better than Taylor Haneke. Uh you know New York they brought that they ball live. I'm gonna say he's hold onto the ball, holding on

in the first snap it threw. And keep in mind that was that was their backup quarterback. They attached all there there. Oh yeah, it's it's magic. It was a lot of people trying to trade on digs though, you know, they were trying to gotta had that mean. But like, I think I think they looking the chops Carson Wentz around. Yeah, I mean, you know, it's still gonna be bad. I think they're gonna be better, try to make the problem still get better because they still got they still got

scared tear, they still got a running game. I think they're defense will play better because they're gonna I think they believe now that they got something right. And and it sucks on defense when you like when you go out there, you're like, man, an offense ain't gonna do nothing, but we'll be back out there. It is a horrible thing for you to go out there on defense and feel that way. So I think the Washington the Commanders are going to be a totally different team than they

were last Are they gonna be good? I don't know, but they'll be They'll be very better. Let's see who the owner is over the weekend. Jared Bell at that story in USA Today, saying that they they are tired of Daniel Snyder and they're they're taking their taking votes right now to see whether or not he gets shown the door. It's gonna be Diddy and jay Z. You know, they go Flo Floyd money team. They're gonna put their

money together. Man, They're gonna buy one one one vote to Daniel Snyder will having his favors gonna be Jerry. Jerry's loved him through the years, and UH had a buddy of mine say, hey, you think it's really gonna happen. I said, I hope not. I said, Jerry's not for it. That's the first thing. Jerry's not for it. I said. Secondly, you know, and he's he's watching man. I said, yeah, no, I hope say. I felt that terribly. Keep running that thing the dirt you did, now become the Vanderbilt to

the NFC. That whole stands thing that they had, I mean, the bench thing that they had, Like, this is what your team is. You were broke on the stadium or something poop coming down on fans. This is what this is. This is what your organism. This is representing what your organization is. That is just it's not good. It's about too. I was right before the pandem but the last time I went up there, it rained, and it was raining in the press box with Kraine was coming through statement.

I was like, man, that's the trip I get. I like when they're playing this. January said, I will not be going. You ain't messing with it. I only want to go to Lay. I'm not going. I'm not going to La. I'm not going to La. The you already been to Colley so it falls on a school week. I won't go to Green May November thirteen. We know you don't want to go to that. Yeah, the Minnesota Minnesota Green Bay November thirteen and twenty. Yeah, those two

Green Yeah, I want to hit that. Jacksonville though little warm down Therember so it look look man, but that's southing Georgia. So it could be real cold right then, so I just don't anticipate myself doing many trips this year. I hate going to Philly, so I might the Giants Monday Night. Maybe maybe I could. I don't enjoy going to New Jersey that I want no parts of Philadelphia, but they may I may. I may have to go to Philly. So yeah, I might be about one of

two trips this sy There's not many on here. I see Philly, so we expect to see you pretty much the whole season right here on the play Monday's Baby, I'm right back here on don't let the team same for myself across that rope and to get so Peter King as the Cowboys. It's fifteen right now. Is power rankings, which is basically uh and then the middle of the pack,

and you know that's fine. People are looking to the NFC East teams are just saying they don't think they're much there, though there are some who are saying, hey, the Eagles are going to be better, and then they're picking the Eagles, and see what they're saying. I keep saying, show me what the second year coach does, you know, can he be better? I think too many times people don't talk enough about coaching. You could put all this talent here, but does the coach have the ability to

get what he needs to out of the town. I thought they improved during the year, But that's one of those collaborative type organizations. I hate those things. Collaborative type. He made them tirs. We was clown. They done, they done, They did get better, but that whole whole when the owner wants to be involved, then the GM wants to be involved, and the analytical department, everybody wants to get together.

I just think collaborations don't work. No, with that collaborating in in La Sean McVay and him and less when this is what we're gonna do. When they went out, they ain't did it and they got it done. Um in Tampa Bay was Bruce figured out this is what Tom want to do and okay, okay, Tom, fine, it got done. You know, force Bruce about it. Belicheck Belichick not collaborate. I mean, just just whold collaboration. Everybody get a little take No, everybody. Everybody doesn't need to have

a say in things. In my opinion, I agree with you. I would agree with you on that one head coach, you make the decisions. Because I think we got some collaboration going on in here. But I still think Mike mccarthur should be calling a place, but especially this year. And if you want to hot seat this year, and now, if I was on the hot I'm going down throwing my own punches. I'm not going down because this man can't decide to run the football or not. Look if

it's me, man, we're calling this, We're calling that. I'm forcing them upstairs and say you know you can't do this or you can't do that. I mean you gotta go down swear. You just can't lose your job off for somebody else. That's what Bill Parcels ended up doing after his first year with the Giant. He's like, man, they give me another shot, We'll come back. Do it in my ways. Like if I'm gonna get fired, I

will be fired doing it my way. And he would essentially say that to other young coaches and again, hey man, you know, if they're gonna get you, don't don't don't get got doing it their way. Do it your way, and then you can live with yourself other than the whole collaboration and everybody's sitting there and telling you what to do. Do you think he's allowed to call plays? Like? Once again, if you're gonna get fired at this point in time, you might as well be fired doing it

all your way. And there are ways that you can make suggestions. You'd run a ball, you run a ball here. I mean, there's ways he can get not called the plays. But but you know, be heavily involved in it. I've seen other coaches do that in their own way. So or you know what, during the year, how many times have we seen Champagne. Champagne had his play calling duties listed from him when he was at the Giants and

Jim Fossil took over. So and if people forget when Sean got here, his name was kind of damaged in the league and Bill Parcel's helped rebuild it. Yeah, I just can't say that enough here right If I'm gonna get fired, you know that big old place sheet will sit more going up and down right here. If you're going if you're going to be a running team, all right, When you're going to be a running team, it starts now, though,

you know what I'm saying. When you're in OTAs, when you're going through a mini camp and that you move into training camp. That's when you need to start working on your run game, all right. Because as much as we want to say you could just snatch the playbook and be like, we're gonna call a run, it don't work like that for your team. So they need to

they need to be working on their schemes. If guys are gonna be pulling, they need to be pulling while they're in training camp and mini camp because that ain't something you could just all of a sudden be like, all right, this is what we're gonna start calling, because it ain't that easy. The dudes on the other side get paid well to be able to know how to take on pulling guards and how to how to backside them and you know what I'm saying and disrupt those

type of plays. So if you're not working on it now up through the season, you can't just turn into a running team, which is what we saw last year. We weren't a running team against Tampa, and we tried to become well, we never tried to become one, but they started saying, well, we didin't getting no yards because you ain't work on it. Yeah, do you think it. Do you think it has anything to do with you know, look, man, we paid Dag all this money. We want him to

be the reason that this team is successful. This team,

this team can offensively do damage. I had a former defensive coordinator tell me one of his problems, and actually one of his problems, but he also said one of the great things about, uh, you know, going against thirt teams, said, man, when I when I had these head coaches who were offensive guys, and these four and these quarterbacks who were now calling the place, he said, he just knew what they were going to do and what what when in trouble?

Where were they leaning to the past? Yeah? Throw the ball um. That was one of my frustrations. It's just okay, you're down, you know, you're down ten points, and all of a sudden, the city and it's like what then that's when on the defensive just looking the other there, like, man, we're back on the field again. You make a big play, you get a turnover, then all of a sudden, offense goes out there and go three three and out, are

four and out. There's some situations where they go for the fourth you can't get it, and the defense is back out there again. That is deflating. Man. You see hands down, guys can't even finish their water. That's the play because a lot of times you're giving them, dude the ball back at the fifty. Hey, what they're saying punt red? Like, ain't like that? We've gotta side like what I want? Like we no, ain't no way? They better pick up this third down. I'm like, can we

go calling the fake? Ain't no way we punt? Come on, especially if you all in the punt teams at the wing position, which I played at the wing. You got big, But that's that was Jason Taylor was coming off the edge. I had somebody else coming off the edge. I'm like, because you're gonna be a punt stay so you know what I'm defend. Man. I had Jared Ellen. I said, man, how you were supposed to block? I ain't blocked? The man sins literally, how am I supposed I'm not the

fast bro? You come hard, I'm gonna cut you. I'm never cool after you want to keep saying defense, but come on, I'm gonna I'm gonna ta your knees out. I'm just like, you know, I wasn't gonna do it. I just I just wanted them to not not before get out here, want to get your thoughts. James brad Berry ends up signing with the Philadelphia Eagles as a corner. I thought it was a good move. I think brad Berry. I mean, I know he he takes the football the way well as a corner. I think he had four

picks last year. He gave up a lot of yards last year. But that whole situation in New York last year was it was just under turmoil. So you know, I think he's an extremely solid corner. And you put him, you pair him with Darius Slay out there. You got a nice one two combo out there. You got a real nice one too, combo with a d line that can get after the quarterback and make him throw the ball quick. You were you working with some grease out there. Yeah.

I thought it was a good signing. The Eagles are making some they making some moves. They continue to say, hey man, we're going to make these robster moves to make us a better a better squad. And they went into the went into the last year they knowing where their deficiencies were, and they're like, listen, we can get better by getting Bradbury, and I think they did get better. Like what you want to do is be able to cover.

So they're looking around a division, they're looking around the NFC, and they're saying, what we need to do to be able to win is cover some guys because there are some good quarterbacks that we're going to have to face. And I think I think they got better with that movie. Solid Corner. You know what, one more thing? Okay, shout out to you know, prins up to what's what's my man? That just ruptured his achilles and workout video and North Carolina Anti man, I heard, like I watched it. You

can't hear hear that pop? Man. I didn't watch it. I purposely said I did not want to watch. And then it sounds because he was a free agent, so it wasn't like he was working out at the facility and so he has to go get his own you know, treatment and stuff. But man, you could and with the achilles this fluke, it's I hat it's fluke. Like I was just backpedaling with the plant, go forward, nothing crazy,

and it just pops. Man. It was sad because you can hear him too, He's like, no, not like this, and it's one live at the moment, so at this point you can't even hide it. Like everybody had already seen it. You know. It's just like, man, that's rough

and that's part of the game, man. But that sucks because he just came off of the year before he tores ACL, so he was getting back, getting ready to you know, trying to sign with a team, and then boom and he just like you said, you could just see it in his face and he was just like, nah, man, Nah,

it's just tough, man, it's tough. Clay Thompson kind of went through those State Warriors and this is his first year back, and even during these playoffs you can see where he has moments where he's old Clay, but it's still just trying to get back, and then certain people are trying to you know, he's not what he used to be. And I just kind of say to myself, Um, clearly,

you guys don't understand athletics at this level. To go through an ACL and Achilles back to back, just to be out here doing what he's doing is it's pretty phenomenal. It's about you're you're You're in the Western Conference finals. I mean, this is you're in the final four. Um, you gotta be pretty good to get this far here, and and he's done. He's done a nice job, but he's still not back to where he needs to be. And he had he had two big dumps and then the one that I that I can remember, and I

was like, okay, Clay getting right. He put the clamps on Luca at the end of the game, flipping the

hips and not. I was like, okay, all right, this is this is that all defensive team that Clay was making when he when he rolls up on that, I see it right there where I was, oh, yeah, okay, okay, and actually said those spurts of moments where you could just see where he was getting back to himself and boy, it ain't terrorize him in the Clay and the good thing about Clay his game is you know, more about shooting. It's not he doesn't. He's not a high flyer. He doesn't.

But Terco and his game was all about speed, all about speed. And when you got an acl and Achilles, that takes a step from you man, saw like you said, prayers up. Hopefully he can get a full recovery with with him being a yeah, not on the squad or not like that's that's just rough man. It sucks for that to happen to him. Football's tough sport. I tell all my friends who who talk about, Oh, these guys

get paid a lot of moneys. I said, you know what, I don't know anybody who leaves this who leaves the game without some type of lifelong injured something. Oh yeah, so you're taking this this game. You left something. If you got the pension, you gave something to the game. What's your body part like? And can't know next to the bus how to put what body parts? You left the game? Because when you go there and you see those, you see those, you see those old timers man, and

you just see, man, it's tough cats. And yeah, I had my hip the other day and knees and stuff. I mean it's it's uh, you leave something, man. I got a call from me and Joe Green on Monday, who the legend himself. Let me tell you something, man, that's you talk about some joys you have in life and you just look up there and I called mister Green, hello from the Green Legend. Yes, yes, the greatest steel

of all time. Um, he called me. He was that it was an event and he was trying to get some help with and I said, sure, you know, we'll figure out what we can do. But you know, man, it's this year i've seen him. You know, does he really mean? I never met him? You know the game? The mean Joe Green is he was he really like on the field, man, he was. He was that dude that he was due. He was on the field. He played, he flipped switch, he hated to lose. Man brought that

Texas nastiness with him. Um. But but yeah, yeah, he was. He was that kind of guy. But you can see, man, you see Joe and these other guys and you just see it. Man, they walked slow and um he's at Earl Campbelletti's events and you know, Earl's in a wheelchair

and damn, and these guys have given it. The one thing that will kind of surprise you if you've never met him is that he's not that big when you think about today's at Yeah, he's not that big, which just tells you about the quickness and how good he was. But football, they didn't you know, they didn't have three hundred pounds respect you know, the game. The game has changed five back then, right, so so the game has changed. But just he lives up in Flower Mound, and you know,

he's he's he is very into the Cowboys. You know, he follows the Cowboys very much. So he's he loves but he loves all sports. That's the thing. He's just a true sports. But he's asking about Reggie Bullock. He's like, why does he wear his hair like that? And I ended up doing a story on it on that Friday. He asked me that on Monday and Friday I turned a story on it about that that flip being swished.

Anybody that you played with that man, it was the nicest dude, But as soon as you got on that football field, it was like, man, who is this what a name? Y'all might know, it might not, but if you remember Eric Frampton, Yeah, yeah, team don't curse, don't drink, don't do none of none of that nicest dudes you

could meet when you walking through the hallways nic all that. Yeah, did he get on the field and even special teams guy totally different, special team total, totally different on the field and it was like this, ain't you ain't the same guy? You know it was out. I'm talking about talking trash all night. He don't curse though, but he's you know, he's doing that Philip, Yeah, the Philip Rivers

trash talking. But yeah, I mean that that's the first guy that comes to mind because he was the first guy and I was like, is that you're talking the young team? Arrol Spence is like that. Oscar dela Oyer like that too, just real nice guy, you know, the softest hand one of the softest handshakes ever had was Oscar de Lloyd. But put them in the ring. They're getting you many, but they're they're giving you that work.

They are giving you that work. But the outside just nicest guys, just kind of calm guy that you just wouldn't think that these are you know, trained, trained folks who really put them hands on you man. But speaking y'all, see y'all see maybe the hit buddy with that with that left hook to the body and dropped him this weekend swing on. Yeah, man, it was just one of his old sparring partners. He did a little exhibition with it.

Would have left to the body dropped them. Since we're talking about Oscar, I didn't watch it, but you just talk about just you know, there's another just just you know, there's certain guys, there's great, and then there's just next level man. Floyd is one of those. He's one in the in his sports. His next level I mean just what he could do in the ring. Man just just sensational. There was you guys were young, but there's Dude Lenk,

Sweet Pete Whittaker and Sweet Pea was really good. But then I think about Floyd, like Man and Sweeper world champion, but Floyd was that next level guy. Man truly one of the greatest of all time. Man, but help watch it. I'll never understand why casts man, I gave it to Floyd. I'm two thirty. I'm two forty, little guy, and hey, you bunched like I was gonna see a Florida exerbission just because you want to be able to say, man, I at least got to see one of the greatest

of all times like I would. I would loved to see how leave box. I would love to go to a Jordan game like that. Like those are the type of things that you you don't want to miss. I can say, you know, I played against Tom Brady, I've seen him play so I'm still in that category. But there there are certain people who you don't want to miss in action doing what they what they knew how to do best. I'll say this. You know he fights

over here all the time. Errol Spitz Junior. Get out there and watch that young man while you can, because he is a he's a heck of town. Heck of town. All right, we're out of time here for Chris being big, will Jazz, everybody who helps this thing go. Danny McCray, Barry Church knew he scrubbs players lounge. We're back with you on Tuesday to take Memorial Day off. Here you go, I'll be back lack back on Monday. So yeah, I'll be back y'all. Y'all here the first one, the first
