at the Superdome on Thursday night. It is the only game on Thursday night, So back to back Thursdays for the Cowboys. They lost Thanksgiving Day. They kind of need to win this game. New Orleans may be in a free fall, but do not think about them being in a free fall because Cowboys aren't good enough to overlook anybody. Taysom Hill is going to be the starting quarterback for the Saints. They're making the change from Trevor Simeon. So we will see the gadget guy, young gadget. That's a

paid gadget guy. Right, listen to the man and started the game and one now, all right, listen to So we can't sleep on anybody. We can't sleep on anybody. And we know that when you come into a game late quarterback change, so I mean the whole scheme for

him is probably going to change. And it's something that you haven't really been able to prepare for because we own three games in twelve days, so you're not really being able to run your full practice like you usually do, where you put the full pads on and you're going through the real run reads. Because that's gonna be a big part of this game, figuring out how to stop a quarterback power any type of trickery that they're doing.

Oh it is Alvin Kamara playing like you got a lot of You got a lot of stuff that you got to figure out. Yeah, that's the huge variable right there. It's Kamara playing or not. Now, if he is, that opens up a whole new can for this defense, because, like you said, I'm not really worried about Taysom Hill throwing the ball. He's throwing eight passes so far this entire season, so I'm not really worried about that. And if I'm dan quinning his defense, I'm stacking the box

I'm making I'm getting everybody up in there. Maybe have one safety deep Casey patrolling the deep end in the corners. Y'all gonna have to lock up on the outside. But I'm packing a box because we know that's tasting the

Hills train. It's running the football, whether he's in pistol, whether he's in shotgun, and if he has Kamara with them, that presents a little bit of a problem for these linebackers because we're gonna get the law back and you know, I think they'll start off with Doran's armstrong on the outside, so that may put Parsons back at that linebacker spot, and he's gonna have to diagnose you know, running play action or that RPO reads and all that other stuff.

So it presents a little bit of a problem. But if I'm dan Quinn, I'm stacking a box against this dude. Man, make him force him to beat you with his arm instead of his legs. And if he beat you with his arm, he just got chocolate up. Hey, man, we ain't think yo, no, no no. If we beat us with his arm, we I was wrong. If we can beat by Taystom Hill with his arm, there's no way I was wrong, I can say. So here's going to

be the interesting thing that I want to watch. How are they going to judge the hits on Hill because he's going to be out here run way different. When does he become a running back? Ye? Basically do you get does he get the cam tree? He gonna get killed. People are gonna be able to hit him. You're gonna have another guy coming on the edge getting ready to get his licks in as well. It's like, you know, the running quarterback for some reason in this league gets

treated a lot different. Like if Tom Brady, on one of his five scrambles that he's done in his career, would have gotten a hard hit, whether it be legal or not, they throw on the flag regardless. I mean, it's it's it's just crazy to me. How you know stationary quarterbacks, pocket quarterbacks get so much protection, but Lamar Jackson, Cam Newton, guys like that, they get blind side of hit just like the other people. But they just chock

it up. All You're tough. You're a runner out there, so you can go a lot to you as a defender. You know, I'm like good because when you have those those guys who are running, you don't know if they're gonna slide. Like arg three was a guy. He was like, I don't know if this dude gonna slide. He's gonna try to run out of back. I'm not sure what he's gonna do. And you know they's shake you yeah, and you're looking at the rev like, man, well, like I thought you donna give me a late hit? Makes

no sense. What's really interesting going to be interest thing to see on Thursday is how are the Saints going to play this game? In my mind, I think they're going to play at how we should have been playing our previous two games. Lean on the run, control the clock, keep the ball out of our hands and play good defense. So Jerry Jones says he expects Zeke to have a heavy load. Tet that on one or five three to

fan on his radio show. So I think that's a little bit of just like, let me throw this out there because a man looked like he was he was hobbling that last game. Hey, look, maybe he's throwing it out. I don't know. All I know is just can you run the ball? Well? If you give it to twenty that's thank you. Can we see twenty five carries thirty carries police. I think Zeke is fine. But I'll tell you this. This is not the first person to say that we should be leaning on the run game. Mike

McCarthy said the same thing a few weeks ago. All right, if then now Jerry is saying it. So I'm wondering if this is one of those things that like, all right, McCarthy said it didn't really listen Najerry saying it is that like, hey, I'm letting you know, all right, we need to be leaning on the ring game, and if we don't this week, then I don't know what the control of process is in the in the building, Because you're telling this guy repeatedly, Hey man, we need to

run the ball. This is something that is affecting us, and this is how we get out of the slump. And you're still not gonna do it. Go to the book of ourselves at some point. It's not a suggestion, and that's what Jerry needs to go do. Hey, buddy, it's not a suggestion. Here better, I gotta check our role For ninety million dollars, I need to see some return on the investment. But also, what have we seen

pretty much all season long? The defense has been good and there are times where the offense really didn't help the defense win some winnable games, the Kansas City games out it comes to mind, okay, and give you nineteen points at Kansas City. You gotta win that football, so help your defense. This is where the money is on the offensive side of the ball. This is where it's supposedly all the expertise with your head coaching offense. Do your jam do you think it? Do you have to

do your job or protect the defense? Run the ball? Do you think it has anything to do with you know, Prescott having that ability to check out the calls at the line of scrimmage, that's what Kellen said. But I mean at some point, as an offensive coordinator, you have

to say, hey man, this is a run play. The only thing you can switch it to is for run right to run left, like at some point because if not, like it's like we've been talking about, the team is going to dictate to you what player you're gonna run because if they know every time you stack the box you're gonna check to a run I mean a pass play, then they're just gonna put eight in the box or disguise it like Tyron Matthew did, and they just gonna

look like it's eight in the box. They're gonna back out, and then you're gonna throw it and you you're not gonna be able to get nothing done. At some point in time, you gotta figure, like, little offensive line is better than your defensive line. Look what Indianapolis did. You know they went away from Jonathan Taylor for the most part of that game. They got themselves in a slump, and they say, you know what, who cares about Tampa Bay's defense. They got eight, nine guys in the box.

Whatever the case may be, We're still gonna run it. Our guys are better than yours, and we see what happened. They were able to drive all the way down the field and get a touch rapped up sixty yards up. Eventually, I think they got to look at it like, I don't care what the look is. It may it may tell us to check out of a pass, but we gotta go at least keep them honest, because if they make us one dimensional, that's when this offense becomes poor.

That's when it doesn't become to the height of its powers when they're one dimensional. And so far in this losing streak, that's what defense has been able to do. I remember when I went to the Bears. I remember mil Tucker. I always remember this. He was said, I mean, the reason why I love football is because there's a zero sum game. All right, somebody wins, somebody losing. At some point. Your running game is that or we get in our blocks. If we are we're winning all right.

If we're not, and we still maybe as far as from the defensive perspective, if it's a stellway the defense wins. Can we move these guys, Let's see what type of guts we have, see what type of strength we have on the offensive line, because and all. Honestly, we're gonna need it. But we need Cooper, we need his uh, we need him in the in the game in the worst way.

But I'm telling you this, I'm about to start putting them Mark Cooper in the same category as I put Tyron Smith in anybody else who is not consistently available. Now, he not as bad as McCaffrey has been, because they said over thirty three games or something, he'd been even played

team since he got paid. He's been coming. One of those guys were not even It's not just like not being unavailable, but like not being one. Like he's been able to get out there on the field. But you're never really sure if this dude is one hundred percent, if he's healthy, if he's not. And that's that's it's kind of an issue. It's an issue. Even if he got to COVID, no, no, no, before that, he'll like it. It's literally been something every year. It's literally been something

every year. And yeah, you got you did get COVID this year, and that happens. But he did have to missing extending a period of time because he's unvaccinated. Uh ability to be available. Jerry Jones talked about this, but if you continue to do this throughout the year, yes, you are going to be putting the same boat as

the other guys who you like. Man, when you go into the season, you have to be aware in your mind that you're gonna be missing this guy for one or two or going into some part of the season. He's not gonna be a one hundred percent healthy You put Odell Beckham Junior in that kind of category. The reason that yeah, I I do, I do. But I will say this, I'll say this with Odell's When you look at Odell's injuries and the ones that he suffered, those are like those injuries that you cannot avoid. You

know what I'm saying. It's not like you know, Sean Lee was injury prone like it was always you'll see O'Dell get chopped at the knees and and mess up with ac you know which is which is little different. I bring that up because when I think of Cooper and I think of Odell Beckham Junior, you'll you'll deal with guys who are talented and when they are available, can help you win games. That's how I look at like, Okay, you know what, Yeah, I know he's got these issues,

but if he can give me something. You know, seventy five percent of Odell Beckham Junior and Amari Cooper is gonna better than one hundred percent of the most person. Absolutely so, So I'll deal with it because when they make an impact. I mean remember remember last year they came to town, which about trade Nodell Odell Beckham, Oh no, man, can't get no more. I ain't put on a show and a half. And it was just okay, what we

can win? This is week twelve? How many How many of those games says a Mark who would played this year this year? Probably about nine? I think no, no, no, no no, those type of games where about two of them were talking about okay, yeah he go out there and doing what he's supposed to do. He kissed the rock. He runs some good routes. he's gonna come out here short this year. And he had one of those games and he was like, okay, that's the Mark Cooper. And since then, what, I don't think he's topped the hunting and what twice this year? Yeah? So so when you start naming top tens again next time, and you make sure you make sure you don't disrespec Adam DeLand. Oh god, Now when we did that, I said, it wasn't say but you put Theland in the book and you put him above theealing. He was like, oh

the Eland up there. We we even compared to stats, it was like Theland was hurt. Still had more touchdowns than the Mark Cooper. Then that year. It ain't even close right now, not even close, no one it is. It looks like it's a change of the guard. Man might be when it comes to these wide receivers. What did I tell y'all the beginning the season, who's gonna be the number one guy? High young CD. That's what

I said. Debate me if you want to. But availability is one of those things, yo, because because you can't help. But the other dude has been healthy and he's been making plays. He got the COVID he got, he's still been unhealthy. Man, put Lattimore on Lamb. They might just you know what I see, they might see him as a number one and put Latimer. We'll see, we'll see less. I hope he's healthy. When he is, he is what he is. When Amari Cooper is healthy, he's a top

ten receiver. Yeah, he has not been consistently healthy, and he's now he's not available, So that knocks you down a little bit, all right, Church. He has had two one hundred yard games, Yeah, Tampa, he had the thirteen forty three or something like that, one thirty ninety two. His next hundred yard game was against the Vikings. That was eight uh eight eight eight grabs, one twenty two and a touchdown. And I was it, man. And when I start to look at the targets, it's pretty interesting

because he has I've been team targets against Tampa. You only had five targets against the Chargers, four targets against Philly, three targets against Carolina, six targets against the Giants, eight targets against New England, thirteen targets against Minnesota, five targets against Denver, and four targets against Atlanta. That's crazy, man, nor Brown to be company didn't getting more targets of that.

And if you noticed those games where he had high targets, I mean, I think da Prescott throw the ball like fifty somethings. That we went away from the river. They decided that we wouldn't be able to run about, especially Tampa. It was like we wouldn't, we wouldn't. And the only game where you look and you say, okay, man he had he had high target numbers and didn't really give you much would have been New England where he had eight targets for five catches fifty five yards and no touchdowns.

And that was away. Man. You remember, I say it, man, I'm away. Minnesota's away, Minnesota was away, Tampa Bay was away. He's gotten better with that. You know last year was was it last year or two years ago? It was like, man, if it isn' away games, whatever, he's got five. He's got five touchdowns this year, so so how many things like that they got nine. I'm just saying, Okay, I

want the man to be healthy. But when you're looking at twenty million dollars and the guy who's gonna be your number one receiver, you need him to be available. I'll say the same thing I won't say about DeAndre Hobkins now, but he has been out for a while. But this is not a thing that's consistent with his with his career. Just you just look, he's you know, missed the last two games, but before that, you know

he was He's played play like games. Can he play some games we talk about We talk about the twenty million dollars receiver, bro, And that's the same thing Tank Laura's gonna have to answer when he come back. Million knowledge. that done. I think this is a good hire. I think he can be the fourth straight coach at LSU to come in the program and win a national championship. And I think they're going to win an national championship. Brian Kelly, I think, Brian Kelly, they're guys at Notre Dame that and I remember Tyron Willingham talking about, like, man, there's guys I'm recruiting, but I can't get him in.

Next thing, you know, I'm watching him with Michigan and they're sitting here beating us and he had that same misue because there they have not relax a lot of the tough academic standards that they have there. He's gonna go to LSU and he's not gonna have this issue trying to get kids in here. He's going to be smart enough to recruit right there in the state. if Notre Dame promotes defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman. Brian Kelly did an interview last year said that he was going to be the next head coach. Um. If Marcus Freeman gets that job, man, Um, the players love him. I'd love to see it. Is he gonna be the interim while they do. But it sounds like you don't think he gonna win on Natty though, because obviously Brian Kelly was getting the telly he is watching the kids go up to Michigan and go to other places. Notre Dame

But I'd love to see Marcus Freeman get an opportunity and then maybe this time, h he gets the full four years to do the job that a guy like Tyrone Willingham didn't have when he got his opportunity.
