The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club. Cowboys. This ship is the Player's Lounge, broadcasting live from Dallas Cowboys World headquarters at the Star. Now your hosts, Barry Church, Danny mccraig, HECKM Harrison, and NEWI scrugs Players Lounge. That's right, Yeah, HECKM Harrison is here. Danny mccraig is coaching the kids Dallas Cowboys. You camps are going on, so he will miss the next two days getting young kids ready to go.

Barry Churches here though, so gentleman, gentleman, let's get to it. It is a lot of stuff going on here. Um, Cowboys, Philadelphia Saturday. I gotta get ready for Saturday night football. Um. And I gotta start with DQ because I was. I went to the yesterday. Was McCarthy, then Dan Quinn, Kellen Moore, and then John Fossil and a lot of folks. John Fossil, I felt like I should stay, you know, because a

bunch of people bugged out the sport. But boy, he came up with a bunch of scenarios about what happens in the game. He's like, Okay, so vander Esh goes down. Who moves up in in certain spots? Then he's like, okay, I need to move, you know, I need to move with Kuamu over here and do this. There was a lot of things about who's on these coverage units and how you have to get this guy up here? That guy there? Does he go over here? He's like, it depends,

you know. Now I got to decide what kind of calls I make, and it just made It was a very good education about how tough it is to be a special teams coordinator as you deal with injuries of a game. Who do you replace? Does this person know what to do? Oh? Boy? Whole bunch of stuff? Man, whole bunch of stuff. Man. Yeah, it's tough. It's tough.

And you know, when I was starting, once I graduated from the special teams class over there, I used to always keep an eye on those guys because I was about, you know, second or third string when it came to special teams. Once I started on defense, and I would always look at one of those wing defenders went down or something like that. Then you would have to have

a starter input in there. And I was one of the guys that had to go in there on special teams, and that makes your job a heck of a lot easier because you're going straight from punt blocking, you know, big defensive ends spritting down the field forty fifty yards. Then you got to reset and go straight into the defense. And not to me, it's one of the hardest things about you know, playing special teams and defense. If Danny was there, he could attest to it. When you do that,

it takes a lot out of your game. I mean, it gets you extremely exhausted out there. The mental fatigue is real. So when you're juggling those guys around and some people take injuries, it takes a toll not only on special teams, but defense and offensive starters as well. So heck, like Armstrong goes down to the game. Yeah, I mean, here's a guy who's you know, on your on your punt block unit, in your field goal block. I mean he's gone. So that's that whole thing. I

didn't think about it. Okay, So you know who goes here and he came back. But when he comes back, as he got it up to play specials or he's just playing, d Wilson goes out of the game. I mean, it was just it was just very fascinating to hear John go through all the stuff that he has to deal with during I heard a little bit of before, but just as he was talking about what was going on, I'm like, it's a smart mancause just trying to figure all that stuff out there. So that is pretty cool there.

Um dan Quinn the Bad Scientists, I asked him, I asked him, is Calvin Joseph going to start for you this week? Can you confirm that? And he was like, we're working a lot of guys in the group, so right now they Kensel got a whole bunch of folks. Folks got opportunities to play this week on the opposite side of Terrence Steel. So that was some bad film. That's a bad film. That's a bad to go back. Can look at some of the technical issues that he's having and I'm sure that during the week Al Harris

is not coaching that. I don't know where the disconnect is with with Kelvin Joseph and what's what's happening with him getting beat on the double moving man. And as you know, as the former safety, you know one thing you can't do is get caught with your eyes in the backfield. You know you're uncover two. You cannot line up inside dog. These are just rules of the games that do not change. You know, feeball is feetball, bro. You gotta you can't cheat this game that way, you know.

And it's not just happening to him. We saw it happened to Anthony Brown, and as much as we miss him, a lot of the fan base as soon as the guy goes down, all of a sudden, now he's value. He has value because he's not there anymore. But some of those same mistakes we've seen this secondary be plagued by it. You talked about this last year about Treyvon Diggs and how he's getting beat on the double move.

Guys are just gambling because they numbers chasing. They're trying to be that guy that playing hero ball and not playing within the system. In deep playing deep fense, you play to the strength of your defense, So you got to realize where the weak parts are. Kelvin Joseph Man to me, it's it's not it's just the undisciplined play. And so when I hear Dan Quinn say this is gonna be a competition happening all week, I asked myself. I'm like, well, okay, that should have been happening anyway.

We should have been doing that anyway. But also, BC, I don't know how much of this development for players. How do you develop these guys during the week, because that to me, you're sitting there in film study and I know you as a player. Man, you know, a coach, the last thing you want to hear your coach say three words, find me somebody that's the worst, that's the worst. Find me somebody they don't get beat three times on this same thing. And that, that to me is technique,

that's coaching, that's developed. Hell yeah, it hurts when you that guy they're looking, Yeah, find me somebody that don't get beat like this. And so man, that's that's you know. So you got Kelvin, Joseph Nashan, right, McKinsey, Alexander Kendall, Sheffield and Trey von mullin. So they're all basically he's like giving everybody work, right, it's a competition, and that's why you always hear coaches say, you know, one of the best characteristics all this athletic says. I'm like, can

you be coachable? Can you be a guy that can go out there and take the coaching, put it in your in your membrane, whatever it is, and apply it onto the field. Because I know our heirs and I know Joe wod Junior are coaching these guys all right. You don't go from being a suspect team in twenty twenty to having one of the better secondaries in the league in twenty twenty one and twenty twenty two without good coaching behind it. So I know they're coaching these

guys throughout the week. Is it that Calvin Joseph just isn't applying that coaching to the field, because when he got beat on that double move, you're off. He's off about ten yards, like you should be able to see what's going on, like you know you got something underneath. Help.

Why are you jumping up on a curl route? To me, it makes no sense and it just goes to show that I could be wrong, But I feel like this guy's even and off as athleticism, like he's just been out athleting these guys throughout college and he thought, you know, the same thing that happened in the league. No, these guys are good in the league. They get paid as well. So you gotta take that coaching and combine it with

your athleticism out there. Very That's that's why the bigger question for me when I'm sitting there watching, I'm saying, where's the development for these young guys? And that's one of the things that I think is lacking in football period, player development. You know, seeing guys make the same technical mistakes over and over again, to me is an insult to the game because that statement that you just made

is a guy coachable. That's saying to me that this guy is from high school to college has been living off of what you just said. His athleticism. Oh, Kelvin Joseph can go out here and play you in man, because he can. He can smother you. And guess what, he has the speed to make up when he gets burned. Like you said, at this level, you can't get away

with that. And so when you see defensive lineman, when you see linebackers, when you see receivers making those same mistakes over and over again, to me, I questioned the coaching staff, come on, dog, you gotta be getting coached up on these things, because man, when I played like things that changed to me these days is offensive linemen. Offensive linemen are not the way that they used to be. Now. Guys used to line block, beat you down the field.

Now this is a new day. You go on the high school field, there's no more ten mans to five man slids anymore line block and they just don't do that anymore. So the whole offensive line development is thrown off. Defensive line development is thrown off. Guys are going to these ghol rules, the Manny Weathers, the foot doctor, the different guys that teach you know, teach this in the

off season. I'm just saying that the guys that are specialists that are getting these guys right in the off season, I know I'm not seeing these guys be developed like this through the season. And Calvin Joseph to me, is the main culpra that's struggling right now. He's not the only one on that double move play that black discipline, because if we look at it, Dante follows on the outside.

You do a spin move to go on the inside, thinking I don't know that's gonna spin off this guy and get to the quarterback that game, Lawrence the extra time to roll around and find that double move. D You gotta be disciplined in this defense. It'll expose you did that in Philly too. He did it in Philly as well. Hell like you guys taking the easiest route

to the ball, play within the system. Keep that leverage out there, force him to come inside and maybe he overthrows it, or maybe some of your guys from the inside come and help you out. But when you take that easiest pass to the quarterback, he goes around, breaks, contain touchdowns happen. I mean, you gotta be disciplined in this type of defense. So I liked it, Dan Quinn. He basically said everything you said without saying it about Kelvina.

He did talk about the double move that he didn't like that, but he kind of went through enough that you could read. So so if we put HECCK up there, it's like, okay, translate what DQ said. It's what heck to find me somebody with a little laser. This ain't he's opened this week. Guys, who's gonna get who's gonna get? So so they they have acknowledged, all right, number one, you've been allowed to fail. We're not going to keep allow you to keep failing. Um, they're gonna look for

for some solutions out there. So so Calvin Joseph is a he's to have a good week of practice. But other guys, you know, so that's that's what they're gonna and know the only thing that make me makes me nervous about that is when you look at the other players that you have at the position. I think Nay shunt right, he's a he's a tall, rangy guy. So to me, he's more of a zone corner because he

can play an area specifically. I mean it's a loan like like exactly, you know, got them he Honda's he gonna put them hands on you, you know, and he's gonna slow you up. A guy that you have to help over the top more. Even the guys that they brought in, um that that that they targeted. I think the other guy McKenzie, he's he's a nickel guy. So how does he fit into that plan? Still there's still are big question marks because I think now when you

talk about if you jeron curse. In his interview, he talked about how guys are teams are now looking at some of their failings. There's a chink in the armor and they know, oh it's on the other side. So that's either worst thing somebody like when your old teammates is like, right, they've pointed out. It's like if we can see it, just like we look at film, we

see what these guys are doing. People are looking at us and saying, Okay, that's the weak spot right there, So we're gonna pin the tail on the donkey on the other side. But that was also going into that Jacksonville game, like, man, you've lost your you lost your nickel. Yeah, you lost your other corner. That's in this league. That's major. That's that's that's that's tough to overcome. And they have

overcome it. But you get and you know, almost won the game, you know, but you know they I thought defense did enough at the end and try and get done. But but just yeah, man, they're gonna figure it out. And it took Trevor Lawrence until the third quarter to figure out number one go get him. Um and you know what I mean, Aaron Rodgers, I mean, you think about it, that's what happened up there in Green Bay because you know that was when Anthony brad got hurt.

Oh him. It took them a minute and so DQ you can only put so much duct tape or that flex all on that spot flex all all of a sudden, the boat started, the ship be thinking and they've they've got fixed, you know, so you got that, then you're losing, you know, Hankins up front lose lve. Here's Armstrong go out in the game, here's Wilson going down. There's a lot going up. Still almost had they were in a position to win the game despite all that. But that's

a lot. You think about the last three weeks, what they've dealt with, Um, it's tough. Then you hear the ESPN talking heads, you know, and they just whooping them up crazy like they're sorryest group around, but without going and looking at the context. No, And that's and that's what they get paid not to do. It's contextualize the nuances and those specific things that happened. And I think that's what came down to the attrition in the game.

We talk about them looking tired, think about their roletion, how it was affected and how it has been affected with guys going out. Even though Wilson was able to come back, Armstrong was able to come back, how effective were they after that? You know, U LVEE he hasn't been always been a fan favorite. But you see sometimes, man, in that running game, they started to take hits. That's when I think third down becomes even less effective. When LV goes out, man, I do not look, I'm not

gonna the guy Anthony Barr. I think he's good at what he does, but I think he's sometimes playing out of position as well. I mean this, there's a lot about this. This that last game in Jacksonville. The man Clark he comes in. He's not a guy I think that's even ready to go fools for an entire game. He had to play the whole game. And that was kind of my thing on Bar. They spoke about it at trade. They only wanted to give him so much. You know, we're gonna give you basically basketball. He was

six man here, we're gonna get your couple. You know that big bass guy, he's a full three bass guy. You don't want to put him in space. And that's what Jacksonville did. Had eleven personnel come out, force Anthony Barr to play in space, be that linebacker that has to cover tight ends and running backs. And that's not a specialty anymore. That's not it. It's it's tough, and it's and I don't want to I want to be

fair about this. I don't think fans realize what drop offs are in the National Football League when you start going to backups or you put a guy like Peters and bar out there where guys that you want and hey, there's only so much gas. And to take that check injin lightning came on there because it dude, but out there too long? What about the cliche next man up,

hold on, next man up? Man? Please? The reason why you check his pols, you know, don't apply to everything and everybody sat they're not the same dude everything, you know, And and even for the fourth you know, for the guys like Anthony Brown, people were complaining about, um, now you start to see those guys good football player. Yeah he wasn't some pro bowler, but not many people are. It's hard and despite everything that was happening, losing guys Jacksonville,

you know, getting on the defense came with two stops. Hey, my opportunity that should have been won by the offense. And they've got they've got work to do this week, and uh, let's get into what could could be a break for the Cowboys concerning the Philadelphia Eagles and a quarterback Jay Hurts. I believe so is that really it's really eight bucks a month or something like that to get to have

a blue check. I don't pay anything. That's just the station had kind of gone through and got everybody verified a couple of years ago. But I don't know, I don't I haven't really checked it like that. And uh, um, that's wow. It is. It's a wild platform, bro, It's a wild platform right now. Man. But you look at all for the comments, well you get a lot, then you get your entertainment daily. Since since Elon Musk is taken over, um, hate speech has gone up fifty something percent. Um. Yeah,

strange world. We live in a lot of you know, a lot of anti you know a lot of homophobic slurs. That that's gone up. Um. The the hate speech for blacks is up. I mean this this. They have unleashed foods on the platform and then some of the folks who used to work there to cut that stuff down, you know, those people who be gone. So it's like

the wild West out here. People just come on here and say any old, crazy old thing until um yeah, man, it's it's it is Uh, somebody smart is gonna come along and figure out a whole different type of platform and move along over there. We'll see but uh, you hate to see it. Hate to see it, you do, But at the same time, you don't want to keep seeing some of the stuff you're seeing now. And then you know other accounts that are being made of other people.

You know, somebody go ahead, get your account and next thing you know, they're using your name, your face, the whole thing, and change one little letter whatnot, and they can start spewing any kind of crazy stuff and people believe it. You know, that's that part of itself. As far as by Bluecha, I don't know if I'm still verified, but no, there's no but no eight dollars come out of my pocket. You know, no money has come out of my pocket. But I'm still on it and using it.

And you know that's why how I get so much communication from just you know, we followed, you know, we followed people here. You know, we follow Kylie Omens and Nick Eatman and Derek Gigleton, You follow John Mature and Calvin Walks, you follow all these Claire till to get their stuff for him. Um, Tom Bella Sero. You know, we got guys in the NFL network, and we follow these people because we want to know what else is going around the league. Yesterday, that's how I found out

about Jalen Hurts separated shoulder. Yeah, and you know my fantasy team is and we're in dire straight tracks. Man, nobody caring out my fantasy team. Man, how you gonna break up and find the way? Fin the way? It was only about the time we should have turned the time old out the way. So so hackn has never

been here. When I when you, when you and Danny had dragged me about my fancy team, it was dark times back okay, So so during during COVID, During COVID dark times, I still had the fantasy trophy behind me. I hadn't given it to the winter. Oh I had one the year before and in the winter he won many months later. It was COVID. I was supposed to give it to him. You know, I just kind of kept it added on the back shelf. And the back shelf, man, I paid dearly for us take it. COVID was over,

I dropped it off. Take it. At least she got a chance, man, I'm out take it so um, but Jay hurt the MVP. Hopefully people do not knock this against him. He's done everything you could ask him to do right now, but with a spring shoulder, they're saying he most likely will not playing that Gardner Minshew will be the quarterback here. I would hope Philadelphia didn't play him this week. Nah, it's a short week. Okay, it's

a short week. I hope they don't play. The line went up for the Cowboys, by the way the line went up, so the Cowboys are expected to win this football game. Gardner Minshew is the backup quarterback, so must win. Huh after last week? I mean you you okay in the locker room, what you're talking about, got so what you're talking about. You gotta get this done. You got to And it can't just be a dub where you're like, man,

we scraped by by the skin of our team. You gotta put it on these boys a little bit, especially on the defensive side of the football. Man, you first of all your defensive cata and you got not the cat of your guy that leads everything, the big Bazook of the big briefcase. He's already gone on record talking about the gay as just a system guy. So you already got shots fired in that regard. You gotta come out here and you gotta put it down on the Eagles.

You can't let Gardener mints. You, I know he's surrounded back talent to players, but you cannot let the Gardener mens. You go out here and challenge this defense. You gotta put it down early, and you gotta put it down often. And we gotta get back to getting pressure on the quarterback. I mean, it's been two weeks now, what is it one second? Two weeks, I believe, So it's been unfortunate.

It's been it's been unfortunate, and you gotta get pressure on them, especially what we've just talked about in that secondary to earlier segment, how they're how they're waning a little bit right now, wining. So I think it's a must win, especially when you talk about your confidence. You gotta get this dub against Philly, and I think the comment that he made on von Miller's podcast, it may be something to come back to bite him also because it's the brock Purty effect for me. You know, you

think at what he's doing in San Francisco. They are having success because the system works for quarterbacks. He doesn't have to do a whole lot. He just needs to do a little. Let your playmakers do what they do. They still have a great offensive line, they still have great skills positions. Oh and by the way, they have a damn good defense also, so you don't have to be much. This is one of those times where you could just be a bus driver and if Gardener, miss

you could come in and be a bus driver. This this game still has the same ramifications on it. Hey, guess what. They didn't show us no mercy when we went up there with Cooper Rush, so they're not gonna get any quarter coming here with Gardner miss you. I don't want to hear none of that. Yeah, no, no, no no, no, no. It's the same rules applied. I got Yeah, same thing apply. It ain't nothing different. No no, Now, I don't care nothing about the Vegas line. I don't care none about that.

What did happen? There is an opportunity because I don't know. Look, I don't know, man, I supples my shoulder and dog. You know that is if you've ever done it, that's a hard thing to have to play with and at least trying to figure out your way out and how

to make tackles. I don't know how you play as a quarterback with your shoulder like that shoulder right right, and so and when I heard Mike McCarthy talk about Aaron Rodgers yesterday in the way that was wild, I mean, that was a great story about how you know, look, he was limited in his thrown ability, and you're talking about somebody that has a cannon for arm. And so Jalen Hurts, if this is going to a yetta, think about how hard he had to work to get to

where he is right now as a thrown quarterback. You know, I gotta give him credit for that. He's worked his butt off because essentially, nobody has ever been scared of Jalen Hurts as a thrown quarterback. It's always been his legs. I mean, that's that's just Jamal Hollyway. He's Jamal holloway Man. He is a running quarterback. He is a guy that you fear outside of the pocket. But he's worked on that aspect of his of his game. And so if he's compromised just a percentage, I think that changes who

he is as a quarterback. And so for Philly. That's and hey, he finished it. I watched the tape. He finished the game after that, and then like he went out. That'll show you how tough this dude is. And maybe he does come in and late this week because Philly is fighting to have home field advantage. I don't care what nobody say. Winning the East is important, but they want to keep their number one seeding. They don't want to give that up. And for the Cowboys, the door,

the window of opportunity just opened that much. A smidget, that's a smidget. I'm out of this dinner, out of this dinner bed, just by light that that much talk about fantasy. I'm like, it's a it's a quick week. Yeah, it's a fast turnaround. And if I'm if I'm the Eagles, I arrest him to what end um next week We'll see where we're at. But I just think off a short week, I would not want to want him out there and see what you can do with minsh you

and basically say, all right, let's run the football. Okay, they're a good running football team. You got a good offensive line, has been healthy mostly, let's run the football. Let's see if Number one is out there he's gonna be out there because it's a short week. Like I said, So you know AJ Brown Smith, somebody gonna find him. Let's see what y'all can do. You know, is this a week where you gotta travel digs like? Because I'm just like I want I want no no, like A J.

Brown on Calvin Joe. I don't want any parts of that, any parts of that like the Slim Reaper. You know Demante Smith all right, he got a little bit of sides when he could do it. A J. Brown knows, I want no party. You gotta travel digs? Man? Am I crazy for that? Like? You got no? And when I look around the NFL, I look at what the Rams do with Ramsey. Ramsey's one of those one man He's so good at what I mean, people talk about

him in this game. But Ramsey is a guy that allows the Rams to play man on one side zone and you know those those are just little things that you can do when you have a special talent. And I don't think that the Cowboys have been able to tap into that with Treyvonne. And if Trayvonne is what if he's uying for for that upper echelon top top dog in the game. He's got to be able to do that, being able like you, I've heard you talk about this, how tough it is for a guy to

go from playing inside to being outside. Well, it's other guys in the league. Jalen Ramsey do it, do it all the time. He do it all the time. Special I would. I mean, I'm not arguing this, but I think we all believe that Trayvon D's is special. He's leading to the special. And that's why you're saying, Okay, look, man, we got to travel this guy with AJ and then put everybody else in position to do what they do. It's come to that, because man, if we're talking about

right now, look Kelvin Joseph, time, consistency and proof. Can't trust, can't I right, you cringe at the thought. Even you're saying, man, devote Smith, that's all I'm like, yeah, I mean, that's not a good look. If every time this man touched the field, now, is there facts every time that man touched the field, he's giving up a touchdown, He is giving up a touch like that's that's a fact. And I don't I just I mean, you've heard it time

proof because I mean, the guy's consistently being beaten. I've talked to you know, my boy Josh Brent Beismo. He's in a scounting department here with the Cowboys, and he he's of the belief that, no, you gotta keep him in there, let him take his lumps, you know, for the future. We ain't planning for the future right now. We got an opportunity to do something big with this this team that they have right now. That's constructive. God, So ring is closest to the team. So that's what

are you doing to me? Oh no, I'm taking lumps. I'm like, no, it's like the defensive lind draft. So DQ spoke about looking at these combinations and that he wasn't just looking at this games, looking beyond. not to buy Toasting Too's boy Boy so um. Jerry Jones what if I threw the fans said quote, we were a little bit stunned that we lost that ball game. We have several things we need to work on and improve m several seven. It's no doubt still not stopping the run man. That's been all year Kelvin Joseph's spot. I said before the game, I'm worried time I see that, Captain, Dude, I'm worried. And so I'm sitting in the press box and having right in front of me, I'm right on

the sidelight. You just saw. It's like, oh, oh, well, so that's Those are things like if you can see it, like I said, they could see it also on film. But I think the other part about this that's lacking is that pass rush. You think about when we start at the beginning of the season, all the way through six games, we talked so heavy about this defense. We

were talking about giving them a nickname. We were talking about how special they were, the company that they were in, the kind of numbers that they were getting, those kinds of what they were doing with getting pressure on the quarterback changed the way that you looked at this secondary made life so much easier for Brown and did or our safeties. All right, guys didn't have to cover as long, you know, as a safety dog. When you got that kind when you know that guy ain't got that kind

of time, you can take those kind of chances. Bro, you ain't got long, Okay, you ain't long. But now when you go up against Jacksonville and you think that you have an opportunity versus Trevor Lawrence, who's gonna you look at them sixty six. He's a statue in the pocket. But he had quick releases. He was getting off the ball quick. Michael Parsons was talking about that. But in those double move opportunities and those three touchdowns that they

routed off, those were special drives. And when Doug Peterson sees, Okay, y'all are five players down, I'm gonna start with some misdirection. Why I'm gonna start with misdirection. I'm gonna start doing that because I know I'm gonna tire y'all out, and then I'm gonna set you. I'm anaware you're out, and I'm gonna set you up for the kill. So guess what you're calling up against? Seri y Sirianni's gonna do the same thing because he has that same kind of speed.

I am wondering, where is our pass rush guys like Tank Lawrence, where you've been Michael Parsons. Look, I talk about player of development, I'm looking at Michael and all of his moves. I'm not calling him a one trick pony. But I'm saying, where's the spin, move bro? When you know, where's the dipping rip, where's the you know what? All the band that I'm looking for? Do you have a club?

Do you have any of these other things? Because I know when Chucky comes in the building, you know, when Charles comes in the building, Charles are teaching all of that. But who else is teaching this man? Because dog, we have to develop. If he's our special player, we gotta give him more. He's just so raw athletically, and we're just saying, okay, get out there and do what you do, Michael, And you can't do that against the rest of the league. People are gonna figure you out if some kind of way.

Teams are figured out how to scheme up eleven, run at him, get him tired, they run a screen right behind him. They're gonna do everything all season long to scheme him up. Mantil he figures it out, he's gonna have to deal with this. And he spoke about being worn down, playing a lot of end, taking a social for all those folks leaving it end. Okay, he's played a lot of end and the car wreck is getting

to him versus being being being off the ball. I remember the sack numbers they had for Derek Thomas Scott rest assault Man, one of my favorite linebackers of all time. That in Kansas City the numbers for him standing up sack numbers much higher than when he had him um playing down. Remember Greg Ellis did not want to play for Parcels. Did not because Greg was you know, four three gout headed. I didn't want to stay, didn't want any parts of it. Made a Pro Bowl by standing up.

It's different. And so MICA's spoken about, you know, just all right, it's taking a toll on the body. And in the fourth quarter at the end, just watching Mica with his hands on his hips right there near the end of regulation, you could just use something. It's wearing him down. It's getting to him. And that's not an excuse. This is a second year player who's playing a little bit out of position because they wanted playing they of Russia. It's a challenge, man, and people are just like you

talked about where's eleven. Yeah, they're given him that and he's that were that worried me more than anything of any comment that he made on Von Miller's show. That's the one comment that he made that worried me because if I'm an offensive lineman. Oh, you don't like in touch where he put his weight on. Oh, he admitted that he don't like to get touched. He nothing moving the Bronx tail. It's a great movie, man, It's Mafia movie. Man. You have watched a Bronx tail. But he asked the question,

would you rather be feared of love? And the guy said, I'd rather be feared because fear lasts longer. People are not scared of Mica no more. And that's when people line up against Bossa. They scared. They scared a Bossa. They fear Bosa. They fear everything about him and what he's doing. You know what I'm saying. And who came up with the first really good game playing and neutralizing this year, Philly, Philly man. They slowed him down. Yeah, so there you go. By the way, Jerry Jones that

he was, he thought Dak was outstanding against Jacksonville. I say the first half he was like first half. I thought Dak played some of the best football all year long. He was extremely efficient. You saw the dimes he was dropping out there towards that second half. I mean, I know the interceptions were there, but it just felt he was pressing a little bit. And I don't know why he would feel that way when you're up, you know, twenty seven to ten, But I felt like he was

pressing a little bit out there. And I couldn't be completely wrong with this. I mean both interceptions he got hit in the back for the overthrow and then the one he placed it perfectly to Noah Brown who popped it up in the air. So I could be wrong with that, but that that second half, I don't know that connection between those receivers. He just didn't seem like the same guy that we saw in the first half. Jerry's quote outstanding. We can win with him playing like that.

He wasn't playing against chopped liver out there. Sons of Jerry Jones had to say about this quarterback. There's two things about every quarterback that you look for, and that's accuracy and decision making. That's just it. The third intangient maybe leadership, you know, but accuracy and decision making. And I think we talk about Dak in his beginning of his career about him being a great decision maker. The

accuracy hadn't always been that. He had to work on his game, just like Jalen Hurst has worked on his game. And that throw that he made against Houston on that out route to Noah Brown his first year in the league. He couldn't make that throw to save his life. But that just shows how much time he's put into it to better his game. Right now. It look, I can't

talk about the haters. I won't address the haters, but I think what Jerry's if he wasn't wrong, because if you have a better effort from your defense and you're able to maintain that lead, you win that game. You walk out of there and you say, hey, look man, we dodged some bullets. We already know interceptions. You don't want him, but it's a part of the game. Balls get dep It's gonna happen, all right. But at the end of the day, Dak has to be better in

the second half. He has to be aware in that situation. That's that's why they're talking so cerebral. He's so smart. He's one of those guys you know, because he's like, look, what do you want us to throw this long path? No, no no, no, no, I'm gonna turn around. I'm gonna kill kill. I know that's what oh man, Because there are there are those times where you recognize that you need your quarterback to do that one thing, to make that one play, and he's just not seen in that lens.

People are refusing to see him that way because he hadn't done it yet. And that's the only thing that's lacking in this game. Man, He's got to be that people don't even care about how he played in the first half. They're not even talking about the first ass true, Jimmy Johnson needs to have this quote. It's not about the place you make, it's about the mistakes you don't make. And and unfortunately for Dak we look at those two two overtime lost a Green Bay and and uh Jacksonville.

The interceptions that he's suffered we can debate about, you know, players in the wrong places bought all that, but the bottom line is all of those interceptions led to touchdowns by the other team that basically, you know, the Cowboys hit help to help the other team out. And I

said before, they're not good enough to do that. And so the challenge against Philadelphia is, you know that there's a lot of ways where you look at whether the Cowboys are not playing up to part Philadelphia's playing a little bit better and so we'll see what they can do. Gardner minshew, I expect him to start. I do expect

them to start. And I wanted to ask the question though, as a defensive guys are safety now that Jaylor Hurst is out, that whole element of having that running quarterback is gone now, so your weekly preparation changes because now you're not gonna have to spy. You're not gonna have to take this guy and relegate him to just spy

in the quarterback? How did mean for you as if you're doing that film study, are you saying to yourself I like this, Are you saying, oh, hell, you know, I ain't gonna be I hated it, really, because when you're gonna come to that film, that's whole. That's whole, You're your whole preparation, all right. This guy loves to go here, This guy loves to do this on third down. This is this is just how they're rolling with it.

When you get a new guy out there, you don't have a lot of film on them, you know, you don't, You don't lo you don't know his tendencies, You don't know his strengths and weaknesses, and that can come back to bite you in the button. Look at the guy was his ain't purdy out there in San Francisco. They didn't have the tape on him. That guy went out there and lit things up. You know, that's the defense preparing for one guy and you see a completely other

guy that you have no tape on. So you don't know what this guy can do, strengths and weaknesses, where he likes to go with the ball. Is he a gun slinger? Is this a guy that's just gonna take what the defense gives him. You go out there and kind of raw in that regard. So I hated not having the film because that's that's my game was predicated. I wasn't the fastest guy out there, wasn't a you know, the strongest, but I was a big film study guy, and I always in the right place at the right time.

So when you got a guy that you don't have any film study on, you're kind of guessing. You're kind of guessing at least to the first two quarters. All right, when the third quarter come around, all right, this is what this guy loves to do. He loves to takes shots in this down and distance. But those first two quarters, those first scripted downs, you're kind of guessing, we don't have any film on the guy. Cowboys are not lost

back to back games all year long. Only two teams in the league or can say that, that would be the Cowboys in the Eagles. They're going to run the ball because we know this heavy dose know this. You know they're going to run the ball because the Cowboys are They're deficient in that area right now. So, um, but they are favorite Vegas just got the Cowboys. You know, they build a lot of nice buildings Las Vegas. They do it for a reason. But now in the tailpipe

right here, they know something. They know something here. So in the line went up, which tells you they know something here. Um, and just I just think that this this is it's got to be a pride factor that comes out of the Cowboys here. It has to be. I mean, this is We saw it after the Green Bay game. You know, we saw it after the Green Bay game with the Minnesota played a good football game. So let's see what they do here. But they know

they've got things to work on they've acknowledged it. And the beauty is, you know, first time getting better than admit admit where the problem is. They've admit where the problem is. And we'll see, we'll talk about it tomorrow and we'll get more into t Y Hilton. I think he's gotta play this, so he's gotta play this week. So we'll dive more into that with heck Ma Harrison, Barry Church, Danny McCray. The day off, he'll be off tomorrow's. He's out there working with the kids at and T City.

I'm new, he scrugs. This is the play as line about You by Tostito's on Dallas Cowboys dot Com Radio. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
