The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club. This is the player's label, broadcasting live from Dallas Cowboys World headquarters at the Star. Now your hosts Buried Church, Danny McCrae and new He scrugs, it's that time on a Tuesday with lunging here at the start. I knew, he scrugs, he's buried Church. That is the lsu by you bingle. Tigers are the Tigers and rolling they rolled down. Now, okay, here we go
like when you started. I mean every week we went. We need so so okay, yes, so we'll get to the Cowboys. This is his herd unlike you know, your college isn't your heart, it's Berry. You know, Barry, you love the Rockets like this man bleeds and he said his high school one. It was Monday night, Hills. You know, we'll get to the bottom of that. The bottom I've always wondered about this run off the junior College or the or the Hills. Bring popcorn for that episode down
one of these days. Yes, we definitely need a lot of a lot of foolery, I'll tell you that much. Here's my thing about LSU and the head coach at who I'm a fan of, by the way, should have got the USC y'all. Don't you think they wish they had given it to him? Now? I'm glad um gotta stay off TV man because now they beat Alabama and everybody wants to inter be the coach and like, man, you gotta gotta gotta gotta turn that that go coaching team. Man,
let's w the players get out. I'm just saying he's coaching. He made for TV. No, no, no, no, no no, no, he's great. Now. Look look when I national radio show, I loved getting him on the dabble sween him the two dudes who loved the airtime is Dabbo And listen, if you if you want to get all the recruits right, you need to be in front of the camera. Look at what Jim Harborough one not done and got all the rappers and everything he did in the camera that
and it's no food. He's going to follow suit and do the same. If you were playing at the Mercedes being super dumb for the National Championship, you're gonna get all the recruits anyway. I gotta do his call. Ale, You's always gotten you still battling. All right, we're still battling. Is a section down there in the Southwest Texas, Louisiana. George all that we're still battling, and can call you
from his office. He doesn't have to go on. But if I see him with swag on TV as an eighteen year old coming out of high school, I'm like, that's the dude I want to talk to. I got a point face up to the name. I'm good that's coach. Oh yeah, well I saw your TV. I mean, if I coach, you really wanted impress him due the old Barry switcher, pull out the cell phone call from the sideline. Hey, you know we just gave we just gave saving network. I just want you to know we're thinking about you. Yeah.
Year anyway, have a good day. Yeah. And then Danny mccraig getting Pope those off new Waies boys and we ain't gonna get noos. I'm gonna put them on something new. Man. I want man got to come out of the gate fire bear and I'm ready. I'm ready. You saw the picture I sent you on Friday, I'm ready. I'm waiting. Whatever we sent me on Friday. It was a popa those coaster They'll let you know where I was at. Hey.
Look now, in case you are new to the player's lounge, Danny mccraig and I have a bet about Joe Burrow winning the high School Trophy. If Joe wins and I don't see how he wanted this point in time, he breaks his hip. Um oh he'll He'll be the be the husband winner, husband winner, and I'll have to take him to Papadose with a limited budget, na limited budget. Yeah, yeah, we're gonna go to the one off Frankfurt. No, no, we're not. I'm paying for you. I take brother bro
bro whatever you got, whatever you got. The uber is alive. I'm fine. I'm doing because I'm good. I'm think making this swamp thing. Don't drink a drop. This is true. True. You're gonna get sweet tea untweet tea. That's not swamp thing that We've already gone five minutes too long because this is about the cowboy. Oh last lsu thing. I just meant Eddie Kennison on the way over by the way, good guy, great guys. What I'm talking about? He introduced himself to someone else he met, Kenny says d Eddie
Kennison ls you. Eddie Kennison got up, shook his hand and I can play man. That's why, that's why your tone changed about papados. Now you're ready to go? All right. Cowboys defeat Detroit thirty five, twenty seven. Vegas said the Cowboys were winning by eight. They won by eight. Now their Cowboy fans conflicted. Certain Cowboy fans are like, hey, great, we won. Love seeing dack full forty four and they
love the way the receiving going. Now you ain't got A certain section of people were saying, hey, look this was a backup quarterback in Jeff Driscoll. His both Scarborough who ran from war Yards, and Zeki Elliot. They were both tracked the same, so so you know, and then they're looking at the defense saying, what do we have as players? How do you see this victory? His former player.
If I'm on the team, I'm like, we won games in the National Football League no matter who's playing quarterback, running back, receiver, who's coaching, it's hard to win games. And if any team has learned that, the Cowboys have learned that this year. So as a right now, if I'm in that locker, room, like we gotta win. Let's start stringing those together. But where we're sitting at right now, I'm sitting there saying, hey man, y'alla gave up seven
explosives to Jeff driscoll led offense. I mean, they didn't even had a boy who the Mats staff. He wasn't out there. Jeff Driscoll was out there producing arms, legs. He was using it all. I mean, I think he had two runs over twenty yards right there. So and then he let like you said, both Scarbro. He averaged over four yards a carry on these boys, and they signed him that week. They got him off the street
that week. So I mean as a defense, I mean they were able to make plays to to you know, keep him in the game or whatever win the game at the end. But as a defense, you gotta you gotta look back and sit there and say, hey man, you know we got tightened up. What would you rather have a potent offense that can come back from any deficit or a great defense? A great defense? I'm not
I learned my lesson. I hate the reference to LSU again, but if I if I, if I have an offense they can feel I feel I can get me back into any game. I'm twenty sixteen the house Green Bay Packers shout out to the twenty eight point League. But I mean we we came all the way back. We stilling lost the game, offense was rolling. I'd rather have a great defense right there in the offense that can score in that situations in you asked the question, I
asked it. I'd rather have a great defense right getting there. Jerry Jones was asked on one O five three The Fan FM, the official radio home of the Cowboys. He does this show every Tuesday at eight thirty. He was asked about Dak's contract, what are we waiting on? When does it go? And he said, basically, we're trying to figure out how we can pay everybody. So that's the stance that they're they're going with right now, is that
we want you, we want you here. We're just trying to figure out how to pay everyone, trying to figure out how much of that pods left. And for me, when I see Dak Prescott with four hundred and forty four yards three touchdowns another game where he's just carrying, because it's very clear Matt Patricia said, twenty one is not beating us number four. Let's see what you can do. Mike Zimmer said the same thing, and he's more than
showing you he could play. Then that night I ended up watching Sunday Night Football between Mitchell Trubisky of the Bears and Jared Goff of the Rams and looking at both of these players who were all, you know, both first round picks. Mitch number two overall in his class, Jared Goff number one in his class twenty sixteen in which Dat was taking the fourth round and golf, and I'm not hating on him, you know, to get what you can. It's got a record, no over one hundred
million dollars record. I think maybe one thirteen we won tene Well, he's got the most guaranteed. At the end of the day, you're gonna have to give Dak Prescott Jared Goff buddy, And I know Jared Goff went to a super Bowl. But right now, if you ask any talent evaluator, you got a choice Goff Dak who you take it. So that's a big deal of how Jerry Jones gets this thing done, because you've got to sign Dak and you've got to get a People are talking
enough about Amari Cooper. Amari Cooper is a special player. Roll tize there is there a chance that Dak gets a franchise. I think there's I think there's a chance. I think there's a at least I would say forty five percent change. That's I here's a problem with that. That's if he's franchised, Cooper's free. They can't go both of his franchise. You can't franchise in both. I don't have enough to me. I don't want Cooper out on the free market. No, I don't want I don't want
him to have to make a decision. So who do you prioritize, Cooper or Dak? It's me, nui the GM. I'm franchising Cooper, Cooper signing that. Yeah, here's well, I'm franchising him, and well Dak will be because at this point time, Dak's gonna be free. But this is just my thinking. We know Dak is a smart guy, and he's got a ton of endorsements. Sleep number beads seven to eleven, Pepsi tostitos, got at all Oi goes yogurt. That's what I can count off the top of my head.
Not one of those companies is gonna want him to be in a Dolphins uniform or Bengals uniform. Teams that could pay him. The money is with the quarterback who plays three times on Sunday Night Football. Because at the maximum Monday night Football national game Thursday Night Football, which is gonna be on in Chicago. Then you've got a Thanksgiving game. That's that's six right there. If if the Eagles and the Cowboys keep you know, staying right there
that game maybe, so that's seven. I mean the ability. And then of course, you guys know from playing the Cowboys don't play very many noon games because they're using the prime time. I mean, the Cowboys Jets game was the CBS National Game of the Year and the Jets hadn't want anything, but people want the Cowboys. So Jack knows the star for him means a lot of money off the field. Well, and then you also got to take take it to the count that if it's a
guy that I don't won't hold him out. It's that right, cool, don't show up. We'll be all right, you know, we we we and all that stuff. That nah, we need you of OTAs that leadership man. He can't we need you we did you of all that, So take care of him. Man. Now I say this at the end of the day. And this is just a fact because I did a national radio show for a guy the other day. I said, name me the guy that Jerry Jones truly wanted that he let get away. I said,
you can't. He's never let a player that he truly truly wanted to get away. And he's never lost a quarterback. He's not losing this guy ain't. And but but Cooper is the one I worry about. I could get away right because I can't read him. You talked to him, he wont to roll time. It's like he just, hey, look, I take this away. Nothing affects him. He's a guy would not want to play cards with because he can't read. You can't read him. And when I say I can't remember,
I can't read. He gives me what he wants to give me. But I don't know if that's how he really feels, because I'm gonna just give you this for like everything's calculated. When he taught everything has you know, it's like saban And taught him too much? How much? But as you just said, though, Jerry is not gonna let guys that he wants get away. This is true, that's the case. He wouldn't have been paying some of the guys that he paid earlier this year and then
figuring out how to divide that time. I'm just I'm just huge. So we're just saying the defense. As far as like paying those guys that ain't ain't even that ain't gonna happen. Well, it depends on who's talking about he Malie Collins. Look that last talking about you, hadn't he mentioned the guy that needs that you gotta keep. It's Quinn. He might price himself out the guy that man to me, I'm I ain't going to start with the pastor Yeah, he's definitely a must. That's probably the
most expensive one on defense though. Yeah, but that's the one I want to get. Yeah, yeah it is. It is. But if you want that whole pie you know Byron Jones is not I'm not I'm not gonna be able to keep buying because in a in a corner starved league, somebody's going to pay for him. It's like fifteen million year for a corner. Now, how how much you're paying for Quinn? And and how long? How long is this deal he might get like seventeen years the market. I'm
gonna pay Quinn because Quinn gets to the quarterback. If I'm gonna pay a corner, I needed to get what I'm saying. So I'm saying, how much are you paying Quinn? We're saying that Byron is gonna, you know, for possible from fifteen somewhere. That's a great ques huge ques got paid. He just got twenty one or something a year. It's Cooper won't get like what you're thinking, like fifteen sixty. At least keep thirty. I mean, how do we have about to be a five man team? Must be going
up like crazy. And I can read Quinn from this standpoint, You're gonna look at the dollars, how much want me? They ain't no state tax over here. Now you want to go back to its true, Well, he won't be going to Miami. So so that's that's an interesting thing there. But overall, for me, here's what I was happy for. I was happy for Dak Prescott from the standpoint so many people, especially early on in the year, have dogged this guy and not giving him credit for what he's Oh,
he only wins because of the offensive blind. Oh he's at there. You know, he's got Zeke there. We're around him, and we know what he does and how people in this building feel about him. Now the play is gone and he's got it's his fourth year. I mean, one of the things that I see the criticism of Dak the way I saw people had the criticisms of Russell Wilson early on, always just a defense, you're not this right, never looking at the fact that you know what happens
to guys, They get better, they grow. Aaron Rodgers first year wasn't good, but Aaron grew. See McNair's first year hardly played, but he grew. I just felt like none of that was given to Dak Prescott that has a fourth round pick. People expected him and they were trying to compare. Well, he's not better than Carson, He's not better than golf guy was rookie of the Year, winning
record all three years. I mean, as the receiving targets started to diminish, especially last year with that whole receiver by committee mess that didn't work out, I felt like he wasn't given the crew. He was giving all the blame but none of the credit. I mean, look what he did last week. I'm saying this overreaction Monday, which is unfortunate. So I just want to move past this.
Let's put it out there like this. If Dak has a bad game or a social game against New England and all of a sudden that they're gonna start saying the same thing, I don't know if he's worth this. I'm gonna put that out there to the side and say, no matter what happens this game, Dak has balled and he deserves all the money that he's gonna gets his money. I mean, the guys, let's yeah, let's not let him
go out here. Hopefully doesn't let him go out have a social game, and then they start saying, oh yeah, once he plays against an elite defense, then he he really can't get it done. Minus all that, the dude has been balling, he's been getting better. Like new he said, each year, each game paid the man. He's worth it. Yes, John k Kellen Moore. They have come in here and really done a lot of the things that Dad likes to do, which makes me go back and think about
Scott Lenahan. You were you were running, Scott was running his offense you saw that, But a lot of people disliked Scott's offense and what he should have been doing. And this is just my feeling as a coach. Dun It was Duck Collins that the form of basketball. She said, new me. Your job as a coach is to cover up the wards for your team and figure out what
is it they do best and do that. I felt like Scott Lenahan ran his offense and Dak needed to fit into that, versus saying, Dak, what is it you do well and let's figure that out and do that. And I feel like that is what I'm seeing here. And oh, by the way, the targets are better. Okay, the carpenter needs tool. The tools are a lot better to work. Gallup throwing up. I mean, is a better player than Cole Beasley? Oh yeah, you know, COOLBSA is a person, cool dude, But you got a better player
and it makes a difference. I mean, at the end of the day, you need players. This game is still still one with players. All right. We got a lot to get to here on the players lands. With Danny McCrae and Barry Church myself doing scrugs, we'll get to our football phrase the day, we got to get into the New England Patriots. What's going on? There also some thoughts about Colin Kaepernick and Miles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns, who was suspended indefinitely after he hit Mason Rudolph in
the head with his own helmet. On Thursday Night Football, you're listening to Dallas Cowboys Radio on Dallas Cowboys dot Com. First off, spoken from somebody who don't have a child. Right, let me tell you something. You
know what it was? Go ahead. It's like that time when when it was Mitt Romney and Obama doing a presidential babe and Obama proceed. What am I gonna do at this point that she wants this? No no, no, no no, no, no, no no no. Here's what you're gonna find out real quick, Danny. When you have a child, you get dumber, guy, you get dumber. Now that's something to look forward to. le Vincent, yeah you may not want them. What said? Okay? Okay, yeah, sure listen to that. But you now you just some dude. Ain't that something yeah, I'm just telling you, man. You get you get, you get dumber, and you just sit back and try to tell exactly I told you that's not Hill of Dioncau go home and she didn't had a picture with Santa, and she think that you prevented from doing. Now I'm like, I'm not catching that side eye for that. No, I was just looking at this
photo like, yeah, I'm across that bridge when I get down. Yeah, yeah, yeah bridge Easter Bunney that time I paid money for Barney to come to the house, and she loved watching Barney. But but Barney came to the house. She was scared of Barney. Didn't want to see Barney and go near Barney till Barney was leaving. Then clutch Barney's leg. Oh listen, oh yeah, so he so does it leave? It's oh where they're going? They start crying because he ain't there no more. My wife is scared of mascot. So I'm
not gonna have that issue. We probably won't have nobody coming over for birthdays. Everybody can't wait as usual, newly telling me, y'all hat again. Nobody got a game plan until they get hit the mout we shall see sad. She's if she wants the photo little mccraig with Santa, go ahead and anybody she might get it. But if they go down, if he or she started acting the food when she get up closing and I'm I'm a back off, I might follow us over that I might
at that point times already crossed the line. At point time, you just go out to sit that pige Just take that. That is what my looking like Santa Claus. I don't know where about it. Say that. Yeah, so there you go. Now now you know what, kid run up to Santa Claus all time? One photos of Santa all time. But at that point time she was not ready for that. She can't go too early. Bring your kid and get a photo of me at my holiday camp. How about that that bus holiday camp? That's the bring take a
picture with me? So winning down now that's my thing. You can still take the picture of Santa Mama winning down. You hold your child, he keeps you keep getting on the right, your says, is a horror story. I see this every year. I mean, this is the thing. Did you get mad every time you look and see somebody doing time? I can't tell you what all your Facebook page. I challenge you to do this. Say hey, do you have any photos with your kid crying with Santa? And
see how many you get. Man, we're running this on Twitter right now. If you have many, differ, put it on I started, and we'll see how many we get. If it's more than forty, I think about not getting advertized that popping. I'm just saying it can be done. You can have this parental moment you want so bad your child with Santa, but you need to be you. If your child's on your left hand, you are Santa. Be on your right because you know you don't want
to get it. Because if you thay too cold to me the photo look at the sand like that, go get him a band aid, scarred coming back? Feel bad? I feel bad for no Santas Man, I feel bad for half a year in a year. I'm saying, I gotta take another. Here we go back. Get the kids ready, man, Man, the whole day you don't want to take out this fe No, I ain't doing everything, not washing dishes, I'm not doing anything. He blowing on the way to worry. Man, everybody, Man,
you have the light too long? Just turned greenway. It's it's all right, man, it's all right. They're gonna take care of my kids. Too old. Now, I'm telling you now that now the eight year last, the last photo she brought the dog. She ended up bringing it. We got a picture of the kids in Santa and the dog. So your psa work man. Everybody's listening to the show right now. They take a heat to how my wife
got this dog about. It's not a service dog. How she got this dog into the place to take a photo. He's so many sitching. That's how we know she's not gonna getting my wife take that dog anyway. My wife, my wife lets the front seat and tell my kids sitting the back. People loves people love man. I may not get fit. That dog never misses a man. Get that dog out of food. She go right to the store. Are you hungry something in fresh Man? There sounds like
there's layers to this store. We get the week six we had. My wife loves me because I brought the dog home. Though I always had that. I was like, I got I found the dog. I found the dog. Let's talk about the next opponent for the Cowboys. They travel to face the nine and one New England Patriots who have not lost at Gillette Saty. Most of this team has never played at New England. A lot of guys on this team have never played against Tom Brady
and a Bill Belichick coach team. So my question for you guys, what's the approach as you go up here to a game in which you know Vegas doesn't think you're gonna win. Um, if Jeff driscol can get you for the kind office he did and you're not running the football, mean, what do you do and how do you get ready for this game that we all are going to use as a measuring stick. I mean, I'm sure the coaches already are mentioning in this or they
get in on wins that they have mentioned it. The Patriots offense is not great, right, and neither of our defense, but they I think that if we focus our efforts on Edelman and stopping the run, I think we'll be just fine. Now we need to run the ball on offense. They've shown that they are people have been able to run the ball on them. If we're able to do that, I think that we have a great shot at winning
the game. If we come out and Zeke has twenty cares for for the yards, and they forced them back, and they're forcing back to beat them. I think the game is more like a sixty forty. We might be in trouble. Yeah, if we can keep offensively, if we can keep their defense unbalanced, which is a hard thing to do because you know, all Belichick coach teams, they go into each and every game and say, hey, we're
gonna take away what you do best. And to me, I don't know if it's we throw the ball best right now, if we want the ball best right now, But if they're able to take one of those options completely away, I think we'll be in trouble. But if we can keep them unbalanced, I means Daks. You know, he's hitting them with the play actions. Zeke's hitting you know five here, eight here, three here, he's getting those clouds in the dust type yards. But that's also using
that for play action and keeping them on balanced. I think we'll have a great shot now defensively, Like you're you're right, Tom Brady, And this offense has not played well at all. I mean Sony Michelle, he's looked like a shell of himself these past couple of weeks. But I mean, for some reason them boys for primetime games. They come to play. So we're gonna have to do something to type some type of way. We gotta type to I can't even speak right now, but we got
to do something to get Brady down. We gotta do something very You've played up there in an AFC Championship game when you were with Jacksonville. I've been there once before. But but what's the kind of atmosphere these players need to be ready for. I mean it's electric and um. I mean these guys are used to playing in from the primetime electric type fans that um that come with with playing in primetime games. But up there, I mean
it's it's a whole new beast. I mean, you got the fans dropping f bombs at you as you're walking out. I mean, might have some snow got get those dudes with the muskets in the backfiring it off. I mean, like you said, it might be brisk out there. They drove you all the way back into the waterway. It's like it's like lands for neighborhood for a second and then booms, it's a land for real, and it's gonna be a hype atmosphere. I mean everybody gets up to
play the Cowboys. So it's gonna be hype more intense atmosphere than going to the Link in Philadelphia. That's tough, man, because the Link, as you know and you know both, that's that's a hard place to play. The only reason I say they were they're kind of used to that because they go there twice or they go there, you know, every single year. But other teams coming into the Link,
that's a tough place. That's why. That's why I brought it up, because that's when I just think about the places that I've been on the road for the Cowboys where you know there's no there's no fans chanting for it, like it's in Detroit, where you know they come out there and they're flipping you the bird right away and then they're after you. Um to me, I've seen no more intense place than than Philadelphia. I have to say Philly is not I think on part. I think on
part and especially depending on the situation. Right if most of the time we go play Philly is the rivalry game and that game really means something. This game means something in New England as well, so I think the atmosphere be crazy. One thing I want to touch on is we kind of spoke about how we can beat New England and how they're gonna try to stop us.
You can almost guarantee that Coop is getting double because then they stack and they stack in the box there, but guild More in the safe there on the top and whatever else they got, they running whatever they can to stop the run. So Cobb and Gallop I need to be ready to work add one more just because just as you said it made me think, all right, Jarwin, if what have we seen against teams who've been able
to beat them? And we just like with Kansas City when what they were able to use the chat they use Travis Kelsey against them, And I'm not trying. It's the guy that I'm looking at in turns good something in front of He's a mismatched nightmare from safeties back there. They got some good cover safeties back there. But I would like to see it. I would like to see Jarvan got there. But you'd like to see him get
more snaps. Oh yeah. In order to do that, you got what you gotta do is especially got a game. You're gonna need some yards after the catch, Jason if Jason catches it at seven yards, not going further than nine. But but a guy like Jarwin, we've seen him be able to make catches and get get the ball out of To me, this is a game where you're gonna need that that those extra yards. If you can get an extra five, six, ten yards after catching jar and
show you got to be able to get it. Um. Yeah, and we're not talking about it, but Brett Maher he's gonna have to come. He's you're gonna have to take and he's got to be consistent. Yes, well, we better not try to kick sixty yards. Uh that If we're relying on sixty yards, that trouble. And while we on it, let's make sure that we have our special teams in tact as well, because going back to that Detroit game, they might have tacked. Listen, let me tell you this
Detroit game. I know we talked about it. You never thought you would hear that many people saying, man, where is Heath? He was missed on defense and special teams during that during last week? Are you right about that? I mean, we saw the safeties get exposed as soon as woods went out. They went straight at both of those safeties and we saw what happened, mistackle mixtackle touchdown and then you see the returns on specialties. It returns he that is that is Jeff Heath number thirty eight.
That's the effect that he has on the game. Like at one time, yes, like him or not, he's he affects the game in a positive way until he's not. Gonna have to have a huge game though. It's gonna have to be those two interior guys, Michael Bennett and
Malie Collins. I mean, I think we've seen in the past when when Brady was in his prime, the only thing that really kind of affected him is if you get that interior pressure and you force him outside the pocket, where he's nowhere near as effective as he is inside the pocket. So those two guys are gonna have to have a huge That was Rob Ryan's I think that was our best defensive game under Rob Ryan. Fourteen points. That was the main focus, getting make a move him,
do something and throw it outside the numbers. And we held him for nineteen and we went in said that we hold him the nineteen, we're good and they scored it and then we didn't score. We ain't scoring. We want score score like twenty one touchdown. It was real close. It was. It was a good football game. I was there for that one. So speaking of the DBS here, and Turn Brown's out for the year. So if he Brown's out for the year, he's Terris truck like he
towards Turn Tips. I think so he has Jordan Lewis is now and he's gonna be a full time slot guy in our first and only guest here on the players Land time. Yeah, it's going to see more time here. And my first thought processes, if you're Tom Brady, they're gonna try and go out to these Let's see that, right, you got to test them. Let's see what these guys have you have to I mean, like you said, you got or Anthony Browns out of the game or out
of the season from now on. We've seen what happened last Jeff Driskol had a couple of big, huge chunk plays against this defense. So you're gonna have to test them. They're a young team, they're experienced back there just because they played since they were rookies. But you got to test them out. And I think Brady will Yeah, they definitely will. Um I think is a positive that the lack of weapons are so far this season. What they've shown the lack of weapons is when this when these
substitutions will be happening. So hopefully this is not a big game for Snow or door set. Uh and we and we stave them off. But twenty good, he will get he will get Edelman. It will be trying to work Jordan Lewis in the slade. And it just has to be a huge to me for this defense to play good. It has to be a huge game for the upfront. Just this fort They got to get after this team, man, they got to Yeah, all right, you're
listening to the players lounge. You're watching the players lounge. Um, Barry Churchill everybody where they can find you on social media Instagram and Twitter both at Barry church forty two and Danny d mc forty four on Twitter. On Instagram is Danny underscore mccraig forty All right, find me at Newy Scrugs in e W Y Scruggs on Twitter. That's new He scrugs on Twitter, New He Scrugs Sports on Facebook. Here all right, Uh, let me jump back into to
college football. Here to a tong of Violoa terrible injury hip surgery made me think should he declare for the draft or go back to school? What do you guys think? To me, that's a tough one. You gotta see because they allow you to see, like where you where you would be projected to be drafted, that before you go ahead and declaring all that good stuff. So to me, I gotta see where I'm atting. If I'm in up top five from even top ten, I'm pulling a truck.
A history of these injuries though, So what's to say that make sure it won't be another season get out of there? You know, you know that they still somebody's still gonna take a chance on them. Now he goes back to college next year, it has any type of ankle injury or knee surgery, the hip injury, or if something happens with that, he's going from taking a chance to six millions. Yeah, losing a million. I'm getting out of the go out of the taste of people having
a mouth for Tour is a great quarterback. He just has a little injury thing that they got to figure out if he's gonna make the full recovery. Leave on that the clause I would if I was him, I declare hopefully and you know, his best best circumstances, you know, he drops a little bit, still gets drafted pretty high, but drops a little bit to a team that doesn't really need him right then and there to start, so he can sit back a little bit, kind of learn a game, or heal up a little bit more from
that injury. But I mean the worst case scenario, somebody takes them early in the early in the first round and want him to be that guy from the jumpy. Based on what you just said, I have the perfect team for two of the Los Angeles Chargers. Man, oh yeah, because they need a new quarterback, and if they are not ready, if the owners, and this is because I think this is a span. I think the head coach. I think the head coach you're ready to go ahead
and move along, but the spanoass may not. And they may want one more year, especially in their new stadium. So if you wanted to bring Philip Rivers back, as you go into this new stadium and seeing if you can sell, you can possibly fill it up with someone else besides you know, the other team's famous um. But but having tow in the back seat I feel like this is what we saw with Willis mcgaye. He many years ago when Miami played in the National Championship game
against Ohio State, he suffered that terrible leg indur. He still came out and I thought Drew Rosenhouse did an excellent job of selling it. He sold him mcgay He goes to the first round to UH Buffalo, ends up having a productive and very good It's a knee versus a hip. People talking about bow Jackson type of injury, but I come back and say bow was injured in the nineties. Medicines come come come a long long way since then. But your point about, hey, it's not the
first time two has been hurt. Sometimes people get that the hurt players stay hurt. That is true, But if you're the Chargers, at some point time you got to pull the trigger on moving on. You got from Philip Rivers he was downright, mean, that was at some point now that I was. I saw the man the full and the last week, and it's consistently every year they had a horrible starts and then they start like coming back, he could have do five. How you get out of there.
It's gonna be a battle for quarterbacks with Chicago and Lax year because Philip Rivers can't even move. You see, I'm like, come on, man, why we own quarterbacks this Cam Newton and Kyle Ellen. Yeah, we got we got going on. Oh so what do we do now? Mom wanted to put Kyle Allen in there, get rid of Cam Trading. And the owner came out and spoke to the Charlotte media yesterday and he said that nothing has been decided and the owners he's he was a big
hedge fund guy, billionaire. So so this is a man that understands and knows how to how to get out there and make some money. You know, you don't get to you don't get that much money if you are an impulse guy. You're a guy that you know, you read the reports, you go everything, you make really smart, educated decisions. I think he'll do the same thing I've consistently said to people. Cam Newton makes nineteen million dollars next year. Case Keena made nine eighteen million dollars last
year with Denver Bronco. This is a steals from Margain. I would not be trying to get rid of them. They drafted Will Greer just this last season, so if anything I'm doing, I'm I'm going to make sure Cam, what do you have? Let's see what you have? But I'm keeping it. Yeah, he doesn't play for the rest of the year. He gets a full almost a full year of rest. Should be healthy, get healthy, feet, shoulders,
all that. Why don't come back with all three quarterbacks, Cam Newton, Kyle Allen and Will Greer and maybe Greer gets better? You used you used to a premium pick on the second day, pick on the guy. So I would come back with those three quarterbacks and see where you go. They're not going to be high enough in the draft to take one of the you know, to take Joe Burrow, or to possibly take the kid from Oregon Abra. So to me, I would just sider Herbert justin Herbert, I would I would just I just wait
and see what I have here. Yeah, I go with a two. I agree with you on that. Nineteen million for a franchise quarterback. That's not you know, I mean, we don't want thing. Kyle, I'm not playing. The jury still out on them. Right the year he was pretty pretty bad. You know, you look like to me, Kyle Allen looked like a guy that people all of a sudden had tape. Okay, that's what's going on. This is
what he does, and that's what I mean. These I think sometimes fans forget these are the brightest minded football man. These defensive coordinators are gonna figure it out. This is true. Look at the rams, the words out of looking at the m Okay, ain't nobody working with Sean McVeagh in the job this. So they found him out and watched them quick. They found out Albred Morrison three got it, got us going out, going out. We see So Kyle, I look, I was like, oh man, they got tape.
They know the tendencies, they know what you do. They got a little man, they got the tape. So we're doing the Tennessee though, what's up with Tennessee? Tennessee? Man, don't you start talking about Tannehill at the We just ain't saying that they need They got a backup hand Hill could be a backup. Look, you know what if if Marcus Mariotte, well that's not if. When they put him on the streets. If I'm the Cowboys, I call him. If I'm Philadelphia, I call him. We're happy with Cooper Rush?
Who you cool? Huh? You ain't said, uh what you what? We happy with our quarterback situation? Man? Did you read what I read? I don't know what you read. I mean I read Jerry said, we are happy in our quarterback situation right now. We are fortunate to be where we're at. That's what he was asking about. And he was asking about happy he was fine with his quarterback to I'm just saying he said it. You know what Jerry said one time with the all time great lines.
Just because I said it doesn't make it some man, I just want I just want to we're happy with where we are. Another great line that Bill Parcels used to say, I reserved the right to change my mother. And after the season, when Marcus Mariota comes free, if I'm the Cowboys, I would give him a phone call. Yeah. I think the Eagles will because when Chip Kelly was there, you know, they were trying hard to get him and
they couldn't move up and get him. And once again, folks, I'm talking about as a backup d Prescott goes out of the game, I think you need somebody with some mobility and somebody who gets Now, I don't know what's wrong with with Mariota. Maybe you know this is why you bring in the kitten and a Callam Moore. Guys who get him right casey in the playoffs? Yeah, what can you do because I don't I don't think he's broken to the point that hey, man, get this guy
at the league. No, this isn't Nathan Peter du It was so sad to watch that dude against him. Man, it was so so sad Pro Bowl that dude get out. We got all right, let's uh, let's let's take another break here, gotta get our football phrase the day. Go ahead and tell them, Tell America, Tell America. I'm right. Okay, he was right when you said what you said, when you said it, which was which was these these Santa Claus photos making these babies take a picture. It was Santa And they don't want to do it because of your selfishness and your ego getting in the way of
your child. Side there you go, yeah, go ahead, shop, Yeah, I think they put the camera on there. Yeah yeah, he's on there. Ok. We gotta we gotta bring it back there we go. Okay. So and if you yeah, there you go not with he was and that's hey, man, So just think think, test it out. If you hear child's you know you know, you know that you don't how to read your baby. Okay, by this point in time, you know how to read your baby. Actually you are well, no,
you will not. I didn't read him right, trust me. He probably even want to slap you after day the baby go turn from was that baby Stewart on on family? Turn on you man? Oh man. So Miles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns suspended indefinitely by the NFL. We saw Thursday night where he sacked Mason Rudolph. Rudolph felt he game too much business. Rudolph starts pulling on Garrett's helmet, trying to pull it off. Garrett pulls him back, Rudolph
hits him in the in the privates. Garrett rips off, makes some Rudolph's helmet there and then swings it and hits him right over the head. The NFL suspended him for the rest of the season. They say indefinitely, which means the NFL is letting Miles Garrett. No, there's no guarantee that you're going to get back on the field in twenty twenty. Now Garrett is going to appeal it.
And this is where you go to the nfl PA, and you try to say, what is in the collective bargaining great between the players you get and the owners. Can the owners just sit around here and suspend Can the league's just just suspend him like that indefinitely or is there a certain amount of time or a due process that he needs to go through? First off, did they get it right in saying to Miles Garrett he can't play again? Yes this year? For self? I mean
he I mean, he took the man's helmet off. You know, I would you know when it first happened and he was trying to take Garrett's helmet off and all that stuff. You know, I was all right, what he took his helmet off, and I was even okay with that. But after that and you gotta y gotta kind of toss the helmet to the side, and if he runs up on you like that, you know, give him a two piece and then it is what it is. But I mean, you took a weapon like that and you kind of
splick act my man over the head with it. Yeah, And everybody's always says, if I was a fifth, you say what you want to if he hits that dude? Correct, not correctly, but in a different way. If the crown of his helmet but it hits his face, we're talking, we're talking about something totally different. Yeah, what we're talking about possible death. Okay, I mean, yeah, you're right, You're absolutely right. He could if he hits him in a
different like he does attorney his head right there. You know, he could have caught his eye, could have caught the nose, could have caught it. Yes, it couldn't. And and me being make it Rudolf or his family into that, and it's not that much apologizing could do. He was definitely wrong heat of the moment. No though, you take the helmet off. I'm even cool with that. You take his hammet off, you throw it to the side, and if he still wants problems and you give him the problem,
yeah you can. You could put their hands on You could have just took his fist and just right in the face and we would maybe he gets a game. But we don't see anything like this. And you know, Miles Garrett with the High School in Arlington March so down the road, Miles Garrett has done a lot of stuff, you know, around here with people, and he's a good kid, nice guy to Marcus Ware, former cowboy posted a video how he's worked out with Miles Garrett and he's like,
you know, he was disappointed. That's not the guy knows. And I think Chris Long said something to that. He worked with his foundation the water Boys, and he's like, hey, once again saying that was wrong. You can't do it. But he also said, this is not a bad guy. And now for Miles Garrett comes the repairing of your reputation. This is still a guy who was a first overall pick in the draft. This is a difference maker on the Cleveland Browns. But how do you go back and Danny,
you're doing a lot of work in the community. Now for the Dallas Cowboys, how does one go back and try to rehabilitate take that image. The owner of the brown says that you know they're not going to throw him away. The head coach, he said, you know, he's still like, guy, we're gonna stand behind. We don't condone
what he did. So how do you do it right? Man? So, like any other situation, when you have somebody who makes a mistake or makes makes a bad decision, the first thing you have to do is own up to it. And then you have to go out in the public and if you're talking to kids or you're talking to those who made mistakes, and let them know that you accepted your fault in this, and let them know that you're working to be able to make better decisions and the heat a situation like that you got, yeah, you
gotta be able to do that. You gotta if you're if you made a mistake like that, you gotta be able to go out there and repair it. And like you said, you gotta be he held yourself to accountable, hold yourself to a kount of when you're going to speaking to these kids, let him know that, yeah, I did this, you know, I own it. I did it. But this is not the right way. This is not how you go about things. And I'm sure he'll be able to do that. And there's no way, you know,
Cleveland's gonna get rid of him. This guy ten and a half sacks already this season. He's a difference maker, like you said, so I know they're not going they shouldn't get rid of I mean he's the first time offender. Yeah, I mean, this is out of character, like we said, like everybody who's ever met him in They've all said this, I will ask this. I had a coach, Chris Harris, when I was in Chicago to ask me. He asked us as a group every not every day, but it
was like one of those brain teas. And he says, the don't meet the difference between a bad mistake, I mean a mistake and a bad decision. What is it? Tell me? He can't figure it out. Yeah, that's true, because you know somebody to go do something. They no, you knew what you were doing. Man, that's a bad decision. You didn't make a mistake. You accidentally run the red lights. You made a bad decision. That was a bad because
that wasn't a mistakes. Oh man, I accidentally hit him too hard on him, area moved and all that stuff. That's a mistake, my gout right there. Bad decision. Yes, a lot of time when people come out and they and they said, and they start owning up to it, they say, oh man, I made a mistake. Now you didn't. That wasn't bad judgment. You made a bad decision. Came out, he apologized to Rutolf and set his actions. You know the were wrong shoe. He has done that part to
take accountability of it. I'm just gonna be very interested to seeing it. What do you think? I but do you think the other the other suspensions were valid, like the I think Pouncey got three got We're going to talk about players safety and we have something like that happened. Um, you've got to go ahead and follow through it. Agree, But Pounds, he can go anywhere with me. He's always he can go anywhere with me. About you, about your drinks. We can go to the same spot. I'm on. You
know he's gonna have you back. So UM, I don't care who disagrees me. I wish Myles Garrett good luck in trying to rehabilitate his career. Nick van Exel's a buddy of mine. Nick van Exel he shoved a referee once and it was made all kinds of news. It was bad. It was a bad look. Nick came back from that, but a lot of people labeled Nick, you know, a bad guy, and he had a moment in his life.
He wants to edit out. And I raised my hand as somebody who's had a moment, and they're like to says, boy, I wish I wouldn't meet that bad decision that you talked about here. So hopefully, um people can can find a way to give him some grace and he can also go out and earn it. Michael Vick is a guy who was able to go out and and try to show people that he learned from making a bad,
a truly bad decision. The NFL is full of those guys, and most of them have made a full recovery, came back and showed that they are able to write their wrongs and get back in the league and play. And I don't think Miles Garrett be any different. And he's in the perfect city to do it, Cleveland. And I worked in Cleveland. I was there in Cleveland, worked there when Bill Belichick was the head coach, and even ended
up leaving town. Those fans love their players, so he's going to be fine when it goes other places, right, So, so they're going to protect him. So that's that's a good place for him to be there. They will protect him. They will not they will not shun him at all. Uh. More news than we saw this week in football. Colin Kaepernick how to try out and it was supposed to be at the Atlanta Falcons facility. He moved it, and it's been very interesting to see how the reaction has been.
And then also now what we're seeing is the media versus Colin Colin, and so so you you give me your your your opinion on the Oh man, I just I coummend a reef for stick and with his guy. I mean they did. They took the knee together at the beginning and they've been sticking with each other every since. The whole Colin Kaepernick thing, to me is is one it's always gonna be a little strange because nobody's ever gonna come out and just flat out say that they
black bought him out of the league. So if we ever hit that, then it'll kind of be straight. But this workout thing was, hey man, the dude really wants to play. Now, him really wanting to play doesn't equate to him having to do everything that the NFL says
in order for him to go work out. Right, he still has the right to to disagree with a waiver or location or not with or without having the media come in, and in its heart, he could still want to play, but he don't want to give up his rights or he knows its morals and he's been standing on that for three years. That workout is not gonna get him to change, and you're gonna look at him as a bad guy for that. I don't think that's fair. Yeah, I mean, like you said, I didn't think it was
fair either, you know, both sides. I mean for him that he changed it at the last minute, an hour and so half away. But then the NFL they set up this rent like out of nowhere, like Saturday, right before you know, a game. They you know, you know, the reps aren't the real reps who makes decisions for each club. They're not gonna be there on a Saturday.
You know, they're traveling for the game and whatnot. But um, you know, for me, I mean it's hard for me to have a really really good you know, it's just hard for me because I'm not very educated in that in this subject. You know that he's you know, battling for and all that stuff. So it's hard for me to you know, come come up with a conclusion him on this. But I mean I agree with you. I mean, you know, it's about his battle now, is for his his his morals and what he's willing to do to
get back in the league. He's willing to work out for three years. He's willing to stay in shape. He's willing to work as hard as he can to show everybody that he wants to get back in the league. But then when he comes to challenging his morals, he's not gonna do that. And he's been that way for three years. So nobody's anything different from you think he should just black man. You know, it is what it is. And if somebody calls him, then yeah he should. He
should go. He keep working out, or somebody to call him. You know, it is what it is. But right now at this place to where the NFL is not gonna budge and he's not, so wait for the call and nobody really There is video out there and and so teams can all look at the video. But ultimately this this comes down to ownership. Okay, thirty two owners are gonna have to It's gonna be on them to decide
whether or not they want to have him here. Because if you sign Colincapper, even if you work the guy out, and I think even just working the guy out is gonna call and people are gonna be Um, do you, as an owner have the stomach to take all the criticisms, good and bad that are gonna come your way. And there's a lot of quarterback right, there's a lot of owners who truly are gonna say I'm good. Jerry Jones is out here and told you I'm good. I'm good,
Sean Payton and that's fair. Way we got quarterbacks. We're good. But I can tell you this, and you and I we all know there's some owners you just say nahm, no one needed, they don't want because they're going to be customers who sit here and tell you no, I will not support you. Now, I say that that is for everything, and I also everything. Um Nike proved to a whole lot of people who said when remember they signed college and people I burn in my Nikes and
never let's stock prices with us. But this is what this is what almost everything right, Everybody go crazy on Twitter. That's what a communication is, right, And that's Michael, I'm done. He killed dogs and dog killer on dogs. He's on what do dogs? So we know we know that, but that does the owner? Do you have a Jeffrey Lorie? Okay, Jeffrey Lorie. Andy Reid took it to him and say head coach into Andy Reid like, look this we want Michael Vick and Jeffrey Loriis said, ye, now here comes
the other thing. We have to make sure we say two. Michael Vick was a special talent. It's Colin Kaepernick a special talent at his job in the way Michael Vick was. Because at the end of the day, it's always about do you have a special time? How did Greg Hardy get here? Greg Hardy had a special talent to be able to get to the quarterbacks. He's rare and the
Cowboys had a need. That's always when you talk about taking chances on guys, and you both play college football, how many guys stayed on your team that probably should have been kicked off? Special talent? But I think his talent is special enough for a certain circumstances that teams are in right now without quarterbacks that are serviceable for their team. I think he has special enough talent to
be on one of those. Does the owner of these particulars want to deal with Yeah, I know, but we were talking about special enough talent, and I think circumstance for some of these teams who don't have a serviceable quarterback and for three years now, these teams have said, oh yeah, listen, the end of the day, it comes down to what the owners want to do. What what? First of the day what and the owners are spoken.
You can speak without you can speak without speaking three years Were you expecting if everything went right for this workout, were you expecting him to get picked up? No, the NFL set this up. I know every thirty two teams at any time could have picked up the phone and said come on in. So that's it. They told you and showed you. So then the league, the league through and apparently through jay Z came up and said let's
do this. This wasn't any owner who wanted to But if we notice you think Klin don't know this As he's pulling up to the Falcon's facility, come on there you go, there you go? Yeah, all right, this is
an hours gone by bro like fun. It's always fun. Okay, Um, tell everybody where they find out social media again at very Church forty two that's Instagram, man Twitter on Twitter, Any d mc forty four on Instagram, Danny Underscore mccraig forty follow me on Twitter at New e Scrugs it's n E W Y Scruggs it's n E. W. Y Scruggs, and on Facebook it's Newly Scrugs Sports. All right, give me your prediction, Cowboys, New England. It's a tough one. I got the Cowboys taking a l I'm going twenty
four seventeen. We'll following what I said last week that we're gonna win this game. I say we win by three, my her twenty seven to twenty five. I don't have a score for you yet, but give me New England because they win games, and you know this very well, they win games by you making mistakes. And the Cowboys are still making mistakes in games. And until they get that cleaned up, I don't think they can be the team like New England who will not give you mistakes.
Can't start slow. We turned the corner this week, we turn it boom, mistakes out of there. Start fast, probably start slow with both teams. Probably will I just say we won by three. All right, I'm gonna be here. I will be at the game, and if C. J. Goodwin makes a play, I will find him in the least. Please do if he makes a bad play, don't find him if he makes a play. To come on, the show next Tuesday. Next week, Barry Church, I knew, he scrugs.
Thanks for watching and listening to the players land. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
