The following. Here's a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club Cowboys. This is the player's loud broadcasting live from Dallas Cowboys World headquarters at the Star. Now your hosts, Barry Church, Danny mccraig, heckm Harrison, and Newi Scruggs plays lound. That's right, it is a

different casting. Everson Wave, Jesse Holly. They're in for Heck Marrison, Danny McCray, Berry Church, Who've been switching things up here on the Dallas Cowboys dot Com podcast, So we've seen different characters all the way around. But I have stayed right here and my hosting duties. But I've got two gentlemen here for the offensive, deepest inside of the football who will not hold back on their takes on the Dallas Cowboys who are on a bye week. So the

Cowboys off this weekend. Then it's off to Green Bay November twelfth, Saturday night to face the Packers on Sunday. That game was going to be an afternoon game as Mike McCarthy makes his return to lambeau Field, where he helped the Packers win their last Super Bowl. Let's go start off with yesterday's news or no trade. Okay, we talked about it a little bit. The name we couldn't talk about because Brandon cook Yes, okay, that was the guy. And come to find out after we left we finished

the show, the Cowboys did. They did try and talk to Houston about it, but apparently, according to many reports, that the hold up was the guaranteed eighteen million dollars salary for Cooks next season in twenty twenty three. I don't know what the compensation they were asking back from the Cowboys, but a move was made. Brandon Cooks just someone that I thought, Okay, I could see this happening.

I didn't know he was making eighteen million dollars. Well, I mean when you got thousand yards for sixth straight season, yea, you you don't have that for three different teams. Wow. Yeah, I didn't know that looking at the quarterbacks that he had to go through good player, good player. But obviously the number wasn't hang up for them, And I know Cowboy fans were hot on social media that they didn't

get it done. What did you think, Jesse? One thing that I realized yesterday and I didn't know this was Monday which is odd by the that the NFL does this. Monday is the deadline for you to restructure deals, So to restructure deals as far as money wise, is Monday. So part of what the hold up probably was if Houston kind of wanted this deal to be done, because you see a lot of teams when they trade guys, they'll eat some of the money and so but after Monday,

Houston couldn't go back and restructure deals. So that was that left the Cowboys now on the hook for the entire eighteen million, see what I'm saying. So they could have restructured his deal and made it in certain ways that they could have you know, done certain things, but Monday was a deadline for that, which is odd to have that deadline there and then this deadline on Wednesdays.

You know, if you're gonna put over a barrel. Yeah, because now the Cowboys are like take it or leave it, because we can't even eat some of the money if we wanted to because of that deadline that happened on Monday. You can't make a move. You can't have a deadline done and you have have made a move yet right right, Yeah, So you know, um, I get by the fans are are up in arms. Of course, you you know they'll they'll look over and they'll go, well, this is what

Philly is doing. Philly is trying to load up and set themselves up for a championship. And my only kind of devil advocate rebundal is this team is fair pretty well this season. What the guys that they had now were all to a man yesterday said an impact receiver would be would be great. But you don't want to be on the hook for that kind of money, especially when you got to pay some guys on your own.

Next year, you gotta still pay CD. You still gotta go pay Digs, and then follow behind that, you gotta go pay Mica in another year, and I think, and then Tony Pollard is another one. So you gotta ter you got a couple of guys on your roster that you gotta look forward and many guys, yes, okay, you have many guys, and and and then in addition to if you're gonna pick up a free agent next year, you know, in the off season, so you know, yes,

I wanted the receiver. I'm not as angry as the fans are, um I think, given Jonathan Hankins a little bit more time to get acclimated into this system and for dan Quinn to find out what his strengths are and how they can work around that. I think I think that gives you a good signing in him, and then you know your your hope is now is that Dak can rise above whenever he's lacking in that receiver room and be able to be plus in that matter

and see what happens. And at the end of the day, there's still a little bit of tinkering that there's Odell Beckham floating around here that you know. I'm just saying that that's the name that's still floating around here. So be good. You know, Jerry's all about. Jerry's all about. Jerry's all but we all know. And this is the

thing about about Jerry. Sometimes when he when he can't get his way on in one path, he'll sometimes sit back and go, well, there's another way, and I can make another splash by signing this guy towards the end of the year and get into the playoffs. And that's gonna do what you sign over, even if it doesn't work out. The name alone will have fans rejoicing and saying that's the missing piece. He was that for the Rams last year. He'll be this for us this year

and then will ride our way. He was gonna be MVP a game then he got hurt. Oh yeah, no, I can see it being sold. But Jesse, you you understand a wide receiver room and you bringing a dominant personality like that, and Drew, you've been around receivers, you know, you know what it's like to see number one guys. That's that's a that's a lot to bring in the room. And a receiver. This wouldn't happen with DBS receiver. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Receivers are divers. Let's just be real.

You you're two sports athletes. I wouldn't call you a receiver. You you understand different sides of the game, different sides of sports, period, because you played two sports. The thing about the receiver is when when Cooper came into the locker room, what was that fifteen seventeen or seventeen seventeen seventeen when he came, we were we were doing we were three and five. He comes in and he writes

the wrong you know, he writes the ship. Everything that was going wrong didn't go wrong anymore, and that was so he came with a quiet respect in that receiver room. He was a special guy in regards to how he handles himself as a veteran amongst other people. And that's the kind of thing that if you're gonna come in, you gotta be ready for that kind of player. But if you're just Jerry trying to make a splash, you know, I mean, then we don't need that. We need someone

of substance. I'm hoping that with John, with our Hankers, that's a person of substance. We know exactly what we need. This guy's not gonna be He's not that that huge sign, but you know, he's that guy that we know can can feel a hole. There was a hole right there in the middle, and it hadn't been filled yet because of what Chicago did. But that's all expectation. There's gonna be a hole there that's filled by Hankers. It wasn't

a sexy sign. I don't care about that. I'm talking about someone's gonna come in and just make a difference on this team. Still remains to be seen. But that move, to me, was more substantive than just trying to go sign someone another wide receiver when let's face the guys, if we ain't blocking up front, I don't give a damn who we bring into. Okay, so long as these guys on that front of working. I talked about this yesterday.

Everything looked good Sunday because Brothers was wide open. Everything looked good Sunday because Dak was back there the parting of the Red Sea. Almost every time he drove back to pass, you understand. So that's where the strength of the game is. They can come with all that other stuff they want. You can splash all you want, Man, we gotta have some guys that's gonna give us some time for the quarterback. And who's gonna stop up that running game? You do that. We got a championship. And

that's just on the wheel. That's not you know, being a cowboy fan of Homie all that. That's just sports, all right. I pulled up the twenty twenty three who're gonna be free agents after the next year and get

to hold this list. Help Dalton Schultz, Anthony Brown, Dante Fowler, Junior Terrell, Basham, Layton Vandresh, Anthony Barr, Jason Peters, c J. Goodwin, Jonathan Hankins, you're long snapper, Jake McQuaid, Noah Brown, James Washington, Carlos Watkins, Luke Gifford, Cooper Rush, Reck Mohr, Will Greeger, Connor mcgover, Tony Pollard, Terrence Steele, Rico o'dowdell, and Donovan Wilson. M you can't go give eighteen million dollars to prey. You just go just go a third of those names.

I mean, wow, you can't. That's a lot of you're talking about. Every name that you named in that list is if not an impacted starter, an impact role, impactful person. Yeah, Like even C. J. Goodwin, he's your best core special teamers, Jake McQuaid. You you don't know how important having a snapper is until you don't have one happen and that operation, Like you don't realize that person Like it's that like I play with with with LP Lattasoor and the operation

from a snapper is so important. Him getting down the field and getting open space. Oh, I mean helping guys out on the punt that you got a bunch of guys that that Donovan Wilson, you know, wow Wilson, Yeah, you think about so now, by the way, Terence Steele is a restricted free agent, He's a restrict and Tony's Tony's Unrestricted's Tony's unrestricted free agent. Connbroo Governor is an unrestricted free agent. Cooper Rush is unrestricted. Look Gifford is unrestricted.

Carlos Watkins is uh, he's unrestricted. So Cooper Rush might not be here next year. Um, I was ready for that when he was balling this year. Cooper Rush, Yeah, earned himself. He earned himself another five to eight years in the national football is sure what that five week period six week period he date back to last year? He earned himself another five to eight r he can

he can earn himself a clipboard. So, yes, you know what I'm talking about going into So just picking back on what you guys talked about, Coop Rush could not be here. That's something I thought about me. Let's say Dan Quinn gets himself head coaching job somewhere. I could easily see him taking Cooper Rush and whatever team he's with, maybe they draft a quarterback. But he's got a guy that he has some confidence him. Oh you didn't even add that name to the list. Two Yeah, Yeah, dan

Quinn whoever else he's gonna take from the staff. But Will Greer being unrestricted, it is a big deal because he knows the offense, and so you can't have two of these guys. He could be out number two, right, you can't have two of these guys get out the door. I don't think they want Ben Dnucci being the number two. They do not, They do not. I I don't care how good the defense. Yeah, two, I don't know if they're ready for that. So so that's just that's why

I want fans to really have this understanding cowboy fans. Yes, Brandon Cooks had all sounded good and other people made trades, but when you start talking about, hey, we have guys we have to pay, and he is eighteen million guaranteemte. I don't want to turn out to be Mark Cuban's Mavericks after we won the championship, where you just ship everybody off. I don't want to be. I don't want to be the Rams, you know, to where we will all in just for this one year. Well, I don't

want to be the Lakers. You know, we just come in, Okay, we're gonna do this boom and then you know you will salvage from then, you know, the next years. The problem for Cuban Mavericks, who was remember they locked out after the year. They thought they understood the salary cap in a way that other people didn't. They thought they had that whole we got we got this whole thing on like you just watched we gole be Teams or Camp four people Gonna be Fire said it was they

were wrong. They totally missed whoever they had, and then doing capology analytics wasn't right. Somehow their analytics said we can let Tyson Chandler go Bringdon Haywood, We're gonna bill Kidson. Tyson becomes, you know, defensive player of the Year, and Jason kids like, this is what you're coming back with. Yeah, I'm good, I'm going to New York. So, I mean, it was not it was it was. It was bad.

So so I think that whole thing about not understanding what are the new rules that you're playing with was a big part of and them misdiagnosing what they needed to do. I just see with what's going on here, not only did you not want to pay Brandon Cooks eighteen million, considering what you have left here. What kind of pick were you giving up? If you're having to give up a second or third round pick, these are potential starters and guys that you can get at a

little cost. Because oh, by the way, Ceedee Lamb's gonna be coming up, Diggs is coming up. These guys are not about to take low low contracts, meaning for the deals are dead. You know, you know I was talking at least time or what he said. You know, there was nothing better when we had we had a free agent with Jerry. Jerry paid great money and we loved it because he was verry paid well. I mean, nobody who's a good free agent around here is taking anything

less than they're setting the market. Remember Stephen said that it was that the press conference in California. It's like, you know when when Dak and and Amari, you know what, we're not here to set the market. Z We're not gonna set the market because I just know what we're gonna do. Yeah, okay, so signs sent the market, Mari Mary tied the market, and then Dak said the so it's like every everything you having one on contracts in

a while. Yeah, they havent negotiations here. Travis Frederick setting the market. They winning all they want, they win with that TV contract. Okay, so so I'm not feeling sorry for them at all. They won't pay what they can afford. So you know these guys, you know, Ceedee Lamb is coming here to get a back. Dig's just coming for a bag. They're not in this big backs you work for. Bob Kraft ain't gonna be one of them. Kind of

ease news now. But see the Patriots are able to say, hey, if you want to win a championship, right, Tommy's how making top dollars? I think you can make here. So now I'm gonna happen. That's like the old school gil Brand. That's what that was all about. They remind me Belichick and Crafty there reminding me of gil Brand. I have worked from back. You worked from both of the time, work from backs all the time. I had to pull back on my grammar degree to just to get one

pity out of guil Brand. So now that's the worst. That's the worst negotiator, and I say worst for the player from a player's standpoint that I think has ever been in sports. And we're talking the Cardinals, you know, with that family over there, we're talking the Steelers. You know, we're talking about Gil Brand, tem Suam, Tom Landry and now, yes, I put Tom Landry in there, that three headed monster. Man. You better be ready to do some work. You've bever

head to hold out. You better be ready to retire like I did. You'd better be real because otherwise they're gonna check your baby. They they gonna check your temperature. And you see where you at. That's the old school stuff right there. That's where Belichick and Craft are right now. Makes you got somebody savings accounts. Better save up, baby, yeah, because they're gonna make you work. You did the same thing that I do. Is when when you got to read or read, I feel like you will went to the Dion Sanders. What was the reporter when he said you were you a cold switch it? When you're going to read a read, you cod switch? I do the same thing. I'm not I'm not getting on you. I

do the same thing. And people accused me of switching to re read. It said, just who do you become when you got to read a read? And I'm like, I don't know. I'm like, I just I become the read reader right right? It goes, but your your voice completely changes you you all of a sudden, I go, I don't know. I just so you can you read how it's written, right, how it's written you, but you change, so it is technically a read. So that means that

it is it. Somebody has sponsored this thing, and so someone is going to take the tape and show the sponsor this is what we did. Yeah, you don't want to butcher that because you don't want to get the phone call. You don't want to snicker through it or laugh about it or you know. So you want to be as professional as you can for the whole operation. So yeah, no, I get it, I get it. I just find it. I think he's trying to say, why do we have to change the way we talked to

be professional? Is that what you say? We just coach, which we got coach, which when it comes to read, when I said, I can't be professional, just keep talking like, hey man, we got that y'all, yo yo yo ya. When you read that, read that that that that that TV New comes out. I guess man, these these folks are paying for brother, I get it. We're just trying to make sure one hundred percent, because I'm telling you there's nothing worse when you get that call. Somebody's in had one percent and you cost you cost

them money. I got this because it rolls, It rolls downhill. Okay, oh yeah, it rolls downhill. Here. This is gonna be a big week, guys. It's gonna be a big week because because first, why why aren't the Giants playing? They're off this week? The Giants have a boy. Yes, the Giants have a boy, and we have a buy first teams with a buy you good. I knew they could do at the same time. Now you know, that's seventeen games. Seventeen games, a lot of stuff changed. There's actually six

teams with a buy this week game. Yeah, but I mean the same one from the same division. That was all I'm saying. You got two from the same division, you know, best Divisional football games, two teams that second third place. They already knew what they were gonna be. The Kansas City and the Chargers are off last week and they're saying the division interesting, there you go, thank you what we call? Did he give himself that name? I didn't know that he went by that maybe Supreme.

I've never build build, but I don't know who offended to Bill that's no build just says that, Okay, I I mean making sure. I wasn't sure if you had any influence there. That's all that Cody, that my bran gumble. Let's move on. Yeah, there you go. Lets talked about But for real, guys, tough week this week. A lot of stuff is gonna change. We got some good games, We've got some games gonna make the difference. You know, this season is going to be. It's gonna look totally

different in five weeks November. November always changes it. You're gonna have some tea. He was like, man, what the hell are they doing? Just like with Cincinnati, what's going on? Green Bay? Green Bay? But green Bay has been trending down, but Cincinnati was kind of trending up. And for them to play the way they did in such a big game. I mean, that's a rivalry that I had the miss in the playoffs. I had green Bay and Cincinnati missed the plays did. My thing with Cincinnati was you got

to play a last place schedule. So now every year we know there's gonna be teams in the the last place, it goes to first place. And so in Washington was that team last year, um when they had the first You know from when you win, you come first place. You gotta play that first place catch. Some teams just melt on it. But the Super Bowl hangover is real. For the loser, it is. It's hard to get back there. And they just they didn't fix that line. They didn't.

They thought they did. They're they're big, Ay, we're gonna bringing love college cowboys like to go ahead, you can, you can have it at them. No, No, they trying to them now. They build them up. They building them like, hey, yes, man, t J. Watch we want to let him go. I don't know if we want to let that guy go. Yeah, So they didn't fix the officer. I don't think they have a good coach. I think that. I think Joe Burrow never thought he was a good coach because he

takes too many chances. And I was saying the same things for the lah Chargers coach, you take too many chances. God, yeah, way, you think way too much of yourself and your team. There's some fools out here. Coach man not to mention the guy in Denver. I mean he's terrible. What you're doing. What book are you reading from here? About football? Um? But so I had that make and then with an Aaron Rodgers and he help after after the whole boy leave,

Aaron Rodgers didn't help himself, okay, Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers. He plays around with the offseason way too much for my You know, he's up there in the mountains doing whatever the hell he's doing with the psychedelic drugs and all that, being a critical thinker as if he's the only one you still need talent, and he he forgot that. He thought he was all the talent that they needed. I mean he had he had, you know, he was.

He was cutting it up with with with Will Davante and then he left Ifante hanging during the off season. You got man, talk to me, brother, I'm coming back. You want me to come back or not? Well, he'd already decided DeVante, I wasn't staying anyway. Dante's aready to come back and said I was. I was out. Why do you think he was out? He wanted to go play with his boy. He wanted to get away from An Rodgers. I think I think it was more so Bro you you. I think it was more of that.

When you can teach me the game, you're gonna be here. You're not gonna think here, bro, Because if I got to choose season in the road, right like, if I got to choose to be with a quarterback, I don't want to be stuck in Cold Green Bay with with with Jordan Love. I'd rather go to I'd rather go to Toasty Vegas. I'd rather going to Toast Vegas and shoot this thing out with Derek Carr. You know what, that's my boy? How's that working auto? That's not working

out working out for your Yeah? So, but i'd rather be Richard Vegas. Didn't be rich and degree. But you're the general man, Jo Bryan Good you know, Okay, he wants out. I'm sorry. There were phone calls made to Kansas City for Tyreek Hills, phone calls made to tell to see about AJ Green AJ Brant. You could have done something more than what they did. They did nothing. Oh, Alan was hard. No, no, no, that's not that's not the answer. I just didn't see Aaron Rodgers fighting for Davante.

I didn't see that. I saw him floating around. That's why I saw him the preseason, before the off season, before two Sea off seasons ago, then last off season. I would imagine two off seasons ago pretty much that was when they really put the stamp. He's not the generalman. The general manager there, I mean the same guy I'm drafting. I'm drafting Jordan Love in the first day. I don't get what Brian Goode. Yeah, um, all right, draft day, trade some assets and go up and get somebody. Don't

just sit here. Well, you know we were, we were set to take somebody. You know, they all they all they all went. I mean just I don't get it. Not when you see other people baking back. We got nothing left, right, They're all all all gone, dog gone it. I mean Amari Cooper fifth round pick, you could mean he was available, So so Green Bay could have done something to replace Davante Adams. Not saying it but as

good but you could have done something. And there's a level of arrogance that comes along with having Aaron Rodgers as your quarterback. From a GM perspective, and from an Aaron Rodgers perspective, you know, it's like, well, Davontae Adams wasn't a highly regarded receiver coming out of Fresno State. It took him about three or four years to kind of get to where he got to be in the best receiver in the league. And I probably made him

there and I probably made you know. So it's like, you know what, what's the what's the what's the famous jay z Lonley talks about, you know you said you've made Hove. Okay, well make another hole? You know? So? I think Aaron Rods sometimes thinks that, like, oh, I made DeVante, d Randall Cobb and all these guys I've I've But sometimes you get in there and you go, da cop goes down. And it's a difference between a guy like DeVante Adams, who I've watched a lot in

the off season, who wants to get better. Like his his sole purpose every off season was getting better, getting better, getting better. He wanted to be the best reson. How do you lose someone like that? As a as a quarterback because I'm putting it on him, and as a as an executive in management? How how do you how do you let him go? I think, Eric, go ahead, Sorry, I can understand a guy wanting to go and he's gone, but not to go not replacing the player. Is my

big crop got you? I mean, look, I was a West Welker fan. Let me go, Tom Lights West go sign Danny Amndola. We're gonna keep this train, Bill gonna keep this train rolling here. Um, I didn't see them. Alans are like no, That's why I when it came down to make the pick, somebody ain't ain't making this. Ain't making it Minnesota. Okay, fine, Stefan Diggs, you hate Kirk cut Okay, fine, we're choosing Kirk. We're gonna go draft Jeffership. That's right, we got him. You know, so

so you do something, they didn't do anything. And you know, I mean they sund like Steven Jells. We like our guys. Kirk good Cousins is not Aaron Rodgers. And when you have Aaron Rodgers, then you think you have that luxury to shop around a little bit and be a little coy with everything that you're saying doing. They treat Kirk like he's paychecks. This man is getting he was the

first one to get it. That man stage geta and they six that six and one and the cowboys facing you know, Cooper Rushi don't get out there all the time. Is that Prime Time. We're good? Is that twelve? One of them newrous We we're all in trouble. It's not. It's not Kirking Prime Time. I don't know. Maybe it's a day so long. He's just like it's like Coop on the road. Yeah, yeah for real, like that day gets away from him some time in his mind and starts drifting. It's like he gotta get up and get

at it right now. No, this is this, This is a great I'm trying to figure out now when when is that game? I believe it. I know it's not. I know it's not a Sunday night game because the next Sunday night game for the Cowboys is gonna be uh Indianapolis. Oh you're looking for the Cowboys. Yeah, I don't do it. For the time. That's the thing. The time. That's that's the whole thing on that is just what

time is it? So you know we didn't get but I believe it's during the day it is, Yes, it is a US Bank Stadium, Yep, yep, yeah, three twenty five Romo time. We might be in trouble. Yes, um how about that for the Cowboys? To this is weird? Have you got did you guys ever go through this, So Lions, Bears, Packers, Vikings all in the row, the whole division all in a row. I'm sure back in the eighties we had some kind of weird scheduling, but the only thing that was weird with us was just

the Thanksgiving. That thanks Giving schedule itself, that was weird enough for me to have to play those like three games and so many days. I just I've never seen it where you could here we go bad. I can't recall. That's that's it. That's an interesting Uh, that's that's that's season. No, that's that NFL. That's the NFL market. That's kind of like, actually,

it's pretty good when you considered it. Okay, you only got one team in division with a winning records, so it's work out just fine for you for the Cowboys, Like where you go. Let's let's because you already know when you put the Cowboys on, right, he's gonna go up. So it's in the market for those games like a lot of like minutes. I would I would guess Minnesota isn't killing the ratings market when their games are on TV.

I would assume the the uh Packers, but they're down right now, So they're probably not getting the visibility that they get normally when they have a really good team. Who else was it the Bears? Like they're certain team that just aren't getting the visibility that they get they would normally get on TV. How do you help that you play? You play the Cowboys? Okay, well, if we're gonna play the Cowboys, then why do we haven't wanted noon?

That's what I never understood. There's two Neon games. First of all, I don't complaining because I had to attend those games and I had to get them because the teams. Well no, but you want to elevate the teams putting them a primetime meaning three. You put them in the daytime so people come and watch in the daytime, the three o'clock game, the three game. Yeah, not the newon game. I appreciate someone not as a player, as a fan, as as someone who has to work these games and

do the pre and postgame show these games. I appreciate those new games like Zach Martin twenty five so ever since put your yourself in in a TV executive chair. The game of the week last last last week was Rams Niners, and you're basing this off last year's results teams who played in the NFC Championship game game the forty Niners almost won. So you've got that. Then you've got Cowboys Bears, and you know the Bears coming in the season, new coach, suspect. But early in the season,

which game are you gonna put in that slot? Which game do you think is gonna be able to have more you know, more offense, And that's the one you're gonna pick, and so bad The Cowboys can sometime, and it depends on the network. It was the one year when the Cowboys went up to Jersey to face the Jets and they ended up being the game of the week lost, right, the loss like how Rollo and NaN's

doing this and the Jets are so bading. But CBS back then, before they changed, they didn't get many Cowboy games. So they were like, yeah, we're taking right, we don't care, so we got it on CBS. We're moving it to our game of the week. And and this is so much of it is about the Cowboys. We want the Cowboys. I mean, if you notice NBC has a Sunday night game with the Cowboys either the first or second week of the season every year. That's right, that's the that's bidens.

We want high rating. We know the Cowboys are going to get it. And for you know when eli was was was good, they were it was Cowboys Giants first or second week. I mean so even I mean they requested playing the Giants in the first week. I don't know how they requested. They remember it was two years ago. It was a Thursday night game Tampa Bay hosted the Cowboys when they won the Super Bowl. Chris Collins were told me. He said, yeah, we asked for this game again.

We wanted this one more time to open to see Cowboys bucks. We wanted it again. It was such a good game we wanted to get and these these these networks are all lined up for Cowboy games. But at the same time too, it's like, I you guys have so many primetime games. We half we half. I think it's like five as your max. We have to divide this up, right, we have to make this subway even so they only get on Monday night one time, Sunday

night your max. Out of three they do three every year and thanks you got Thanksgiving, so there they so you're gonna have to could about three noon games. You go have to get about three of them, two in the row. Beg God me right here it is. This is NFC. It's NFC North right now, it is all right, let's get a break here. We're like, uh, let's skip peat, skip peak peat. The running backs, why Tony Pollard and Zeke Elliott are going to be fine the way he wanted.

He will do that next right here with Jesse Holly Everson Walls, I'm new he scrits. This is players as brought to you by Tostino's on Dallascout Boys Radio. Decam. Multi Grammy Award winning Global superstar Ed Sharon comes to AT and T Stadium Saturday, May six to kick off the twenty twenty

three Mathematics Tour. Gentlemen that sounds like newar Sharon would be accompanied by special guests College Dylan gets tickets today at sekget dot com, the official ticketing provider of AT and T Stadium. So all right, man, the mathematics tours coming around. Don't know what? Don't what don't they do here? Man? At this play? It's crazy that's why. That's why it's

the number one sports franchise in the world. Wrestling concerts, Trust Truck tru Truck Master, Trump Monster Truck Rodeo have not had a swimming me yet so yet ahead the World Cup, I mean, this is this, it's in the right. When I see stuff like this, I always think about when I worked in Cleveland and they moved you were you were there? Yeah, oh my first that was horrible. So I was away to cut my first game. The first game I ever covered in Cleveland was Belichick Parcels,

a playoff game Patriots and Browns. Vinny through two touchdowns and they won, ended up winning the game. And so they go eleven and five, get beat by the Steve Hos in the divisional round and don't expected anything from them that yet they signed Andre Risen had the house out there that Pepper Johnson Pepper Show got canceled, so what's the what's they so when they was leaving Pepper Show got canceled. People had radio, so they were like,

no show up here, no more. The dudes wouldn't deliver no code, no no no by people like we're not going out about the last game I was there, for that name was stealing chairs. I mean they pay yeah wait, touching, it was it was why it was wild man, it was wild. So that was when I first met Roger Goodell. So Roger Goodell was just kind of like, you know, a dude like with the league. All right, Roger and

the mayor. Then this brother named Mike White. He's like, we want a new stadium doomed, so we need to be able to have things other than football here in Cleveland. We need to make this a twenty. So here is this guy back in nineteen ninety five is trying to do what Jerry's doing here, and no one wants to listen because they want them. They want the weather to be the element, right, that's in their favor. That's what they wanted the like Seattle up there with the rain, right,

Washington State or whatever, that's what they wanted. So they want to win games, but Jerry want to win money. He wants to make money. To this, it's interesting, it's right, yes, all right, Tony Tony Pollard, great game, kids, great game.

So you know everybody, uh you know what give Tony Kerry's uh skippy Pete came out and at the media and said, guys, no, no, He said, you need two guys, you gotta and he go went on and say said, I've always had two guys here, Julius Jones and marrying Barbara, then Felix Jones and marrying then Felix and DeMarco Murray. He said Tony had a total of thirty plays. He said, I think that's his max as far as a play count goes. It says, because the juice doesn't become the same,

he's not as quick, not as fast. When he got that long run a third one. As soon as he got to the sideline, he said, coach, I'm done. I'm done for the game. I got no more. Hey job, well done, kid. I mean, I ain't mad at you, but it does just you know, speaks on what we always talked about. This guy needs to be uh not necessarily a backup, but he needs to share time. When he broke it on the long run, boy, I could just I could just feel the muney on his back,

you know what I mean. He was I don't know what was going on to do behind the boy. He was running like that. Boys tired, You guys played. That's where we all the players, that's you guys played. You know, you all have an understanding that people just watching it on TV, who who probably played high school balls, they don't get that professional football. When we're sending different dudes

at you, it's it makes a difference. Even when you talk about receivers running different, it's a different dudes don't run it the same, and you get one got maybe a little bit quicker me. It's I don't think people don't understand, man. It's it's crazy. But the first time I was having down the sideline, I couldn't believe it. Oh I could have my first time on the sideline just in a suit. I was just there, I retired watching these guys play, and I was like, damn, this

is crazy. If Barry Sanders was running the ball, right, Barry, that's when Barry came in here and he got off. I think that was like nineteen ninety four, nineteen ninety three, and I'm like, this guy so fast, you know, And I was like, I can't believe I was out there for that because it's like the game was just so fast. From the sidelines, yeah, you could imagine. I don't know what I was doing when I was out there. It's funny. This play will always be just drilled in my head.

We were playing at Minnesota. This is like prime Adrian Peterson. It's like third or fourth down. And Britty James is the middle linebacker jd J. Britty James wore a six strap helmet, right. He had the two up top here, two here, and he had two here. And if you've ever seen Adrian Peterson in person, like he's a man, Like when I tell you he's a man, dude, man everything about him, everything about him. You're like, what lab

were you created? And I remember staying on the sideline and Adrian and Brady James met in the hole and I'm it sound like a car crash by yow. Brady got up one snap was barely holding on the other five had got knocked off, and in that moment, I was like, what the hell am I doing? Like this is what I've chose for profession, and like I never forget that. And like Brady got up and he might I think he stopped him, but you could tell like

he was out of it. He was he was cheering, but it took and I was I was standing like I'm just like like I was like, oh my god, that hurt and when you see that over and over and people they don't understand that part. They don't understand what it takes to play. When a guy plays seventy snaps, Like if I took a regular person and we just

wrestled for thirty seconds, how tired you would be. Now do that with another two hundred and sixty pound dude who's as strong as you, or people don't realize how much it takes to tackle somebody like somebody's join the full speed and that when you hit that, like that is energy effort. Everything that you have is coming out when you hit that because it's it's in reformer contact, right, and you gotta let it out and you do that

sixty seventy times. Like form most things that we go through on the football field, a doctor will tell you can't go to work for two weeks. No, they tell us, hey see you next Sunday. Hey, I'll see you next play the next play wearing pads on Wednesday. Guys. Yeah, yeah, so at something I get it with Coach. I got one more for you. I know we're off the pilot thing. I saw Cam Newton when I was in the street close and I was. It was like the last time he came here. Yeah, Like what dude, you ever seen

Derrek Kenning? Mad? Big? You see Derrick Kenning? Yeah, no, that's crazy. This is insane. Cam's like he went right back, you know. He just happened to be running off the field. I just happened to be right there. I was talking to somebody and I just thought this big mask, it got dark. I got it like a cloud came out. That was him running by, Like damn, that's Cam looking at Derrick Henry. It's the equivalent when I saw the Undertaker a w W walked by, Like how how was that?

What about crazy? It's crazy? So I was there for the time. It was. I think it was Roy's last game at Texas Stadium. LeVar Arrington ran him down and hit him and accustomed in any of it. Row there byside like got out the way he went down, like yeah, he's out. It was. That's why Troy has he has the right to say what he said about quarterbacks in dresses. He has the right to say that because he took the blows. But you think of Micah Parsons is how much we we we enjoy white watching Micah LaVar is

bigger than Mike. Oh yeah, he was a bigger guy. And before the injuries got I mean he was he was as weapony as that as as Mica is nothing. I mean, I tell you all the time, and this this it ain't It ain't fair. It ain't fair. And when Troy took that, he was like you just knew it. Um, you're not supposed to. God did mean for you to go ahead and take no hits like that? Oh cap, no path, no helmet. I mean it was it was.

It was unfair. And I mean, boy, I hate that LaVar was never on some good teams in Washington because what what a what incredible player? I mean, but to circle it all back, this is what Skip Pete is talking about. It's you guys want Tony Pollard to play twenty five thirty like running the ball twenty five thirty times. He's not built for that. Like physically, he's just not built.

What if you want that explosion, you want that elusiveness, you want those quick twitch fibers to go, then you need to keep him around for right state with what you said this, Yeah, people want Tony Pollard to be Floyd manwhether and go go toe to toe with th blows. That's not what Floyd does. He's not about to send up here and go totally. That's not what he does. And if he does that, that's not getting the best out of him. And he won't last, won't, man, Because

because Zeke's already been in there taking those blows. I mean he's taking blows. He's not just running outside, he's taking blows going inside. So na have somebody can take those blows for you for you. Then here you go, brother. Then here comes Dave Megan right right behind him. That was get ready to say, man, how many times do we see mego just ripping off seven eight? Because because OJ was pounding it and you know, got your super Bowl right, and that's what that's the thing. I know

we had to go. But that's the thing that you know, for Tony Pollard and and Keller Moore, it's when when he's in the game, use him effectively, like don't let them don't have empty plays for him. That's the biggest thing. It's like, Okay, people say we want more, probably want

more Pollard. Okay, that's cool, but it does mean no good to have you know, when you're when you're dieting, tell about empty calori empty calories, baby, right, And I was like, hey, you've you've wasted, You've wasted your calorie count on that and it does nothing for you. Like you're like, so, don't go and get empty calories for

Tony Pollard. Don't give them empty plays. Maximize him and the sense if you don't have an even third he don't need thirty thirty five forty plays the fourteen Naddy gets. Make all of those impactful preach plays for Tony Turpin the same thing. And I know what, But this goes all the way back to we talked about yesterday do we have and this is I don't care And that's what this is. Goes partly to signing guys in in the trade, and is this team a super Bowl contending team?

Because do we have a head officsive coordinator slash head coach that are able to take those type of players like a Turpin, like a Tony Pollard and put them in positions to be impactful creatively. That's the part that we're missing. We're Christian McCaffrey was traded to the Niners in Week two. He had three touchdowns. He threw for one. He ran for one and he caught for one. It was like, oh no, we're gonna go. We're gonna use you in a way that is impactful. That's what we

have to figure out. I want to do with Tony Pollard and guys like the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl and everall Jesse Holley Avenue, we Scruggs. This players brought to you by Tostitos. We'll chat with you every everybody next week right here, all right baby. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
