We didn't touch on it yesterday, but let's get into it today. Putter Chris Jones asked for muscle surgery, so he had the surgery, and that means we're going we will see a new punter against the Steelers and his name is Hunter Miss Wander. So, uh, McCray, you had spoken about, you know, not being pleased with

some of the punts that you've seen. So Chris had been trying to punt on pain killers and a drilling. But finally I couldn't do it anymore your thoughts? Whoa, whoa. Well, first of all, I want to say, I'm glad you're here. You didn't get kidnapped on your hitchhiking, uh, on your hit yesterday off on side of the road. All right, So I'm glad. I'm glad you're okay. I'm glad to listen. I'm glad you made it. That's all. I'm glad you

made it. Listen. I will say this, I don't really recall saying anything bad about Chris Jones, because honestly, he has actually been one of the best punters that I've been around in my in my career at at penning guys in the corner and being able to put enough height on the ball so the returners really don't get a chance to get a return and hit us with

a big play. Um. So, I honestly think this is actually a huge loss, especially the way that we will probably have to play the game, which is a field control, field position battle, and hopefully our defense you know, allows us to play like you know, being able to control the clock and the run the ball. So I think this is a huge loss for us. Uh, you know, I guess We'll see what the next punter has, but I think this will be a glaring loss for us.

When we watched the game on Sunday, Yeah, you know, I definitely backed those sentiments up, and definitely thank you for come joining the show today, Newly. Um, you took the traditional route to get to the show, not yesterday, as it sounded like you were sky diving in. So I appreciate that. Man, we can all hear each other and everything is amazing. you hate to see this happen. Um, he had a stretch there from like two fourteen and two thousand and sixteen where he was one of the top punters. I mean he always kind of was able to get the long ball, flip the field, He's able to down guys deep. He's kind of that coffin corner type punter. And we kind of saw that lag off in a couple of twenty seventeen eighteen, kind of lagged off a little bit. Now he's dealing with the injury and like you said, he was trying to take pain pills to get through

to get through the games. But Um, it just it just came too much for him to bear, and you know, he had to get the core surgery. So now we're bringing up another another punter. And like Danny said, I mean for a while there he was a He was a real weapon for us. I mean, especially on the defensive side of the ball. He was able to pin opponents deep, and back then that was huge for us because we had a great running game going and we opponents deep and were able to get the ball right

back for our offense. So he was a huge weapon for us back then. Like I said, it tailed off a little bit. So I don't know how much we're gonna miss him going forward now, seeing as though his punts weren't that good this year, but overall, you just hate to see this happening. Hopefully he's able to give a speedy recovery. All right. Look, here's the bottom line for the Cowboys and particularly the punner Chris Jones. He's

not been good now for two seasons. Stalls was last in punting in twenty nineteen and so far twenty twenty to thirty. So it's been an issue. It's been a problem, and maybe the surgery now we'll get Chris Jones, right, But depending on how Hunter does, we may not see Chris Jones in the Cowboys uniform again. When they decided to retool this team, they may decide to go with the cheaper option. I never thought I'd see Dan Bailey get cut the way he did. So if Dan Bailey

can go, Chris Jones can go. I mean, I think we have to just be be honest about that. And that was one of the you know that boy, that's your back Friday, that Brett Mahur was nowhere anywhere close to what Dan Bailey was. That was a big mistake on the Cowboys part. But they made the move here. So if this is Chris Jones, this was his last contest with the Cowboys. For a kid coming out of Carson Newman, he had had a nice little career with

the Cowboys. I'll definitely say that, definitely. And look, man, you're right it like I was there when you know the weere got released. So this is once it comes down. This is a business at the end of the day. And like you said, you hate to see a guy loses his job because of an injury, but I mean it happens. It happens every time in this league. I mean, look how Dak got his job off of Romo. Romo went down, Dak played amazing, and you know the rest

is history. So you hate to see this happened. But um, like you said, his play wasn't up to part these last couple of years. Hopefully this this surgio get him right and give him a chance to get back on the field. But we'll see if he's here next year or not. All right, Okay, look I'm looking right here, just just trying to look down here. By gosh, you look at all these guys on injured cat reserve here, Um, and I'm trying to see a number for Chris Jones.

Chris Jones, Chris Jones, Chris Jones. He had signed a nice little deal I thought a couple of years ago, all right, at one point nine mill Yeah, one point nine mills. What it's saying right here, that's what he's

getting this year. Give me a second here, let this pop up here, and I'll tell you exactly, all right, Chris with a contract base salary this year of one point nine million cap hit two point four So Chris has a salary in twenty twenty one of two million dollars and a cap hit of two point five million and a dead cap hit of a half million dollars. So looking at the number for twenty twenty one, I think it may be safe to say he won't be

back under that number. Maybe they cut some type of deal with him, but I don't think that you're gonna see Chris Jones back on the Cowboys next year with that kind of with that kind of hit, And especially if you're trying to sign Dak Prescott to a long term deal and you're looking to add more defensive help, you're gonna try and look for every dollar you can.

And the salary cap going down next year, I don't see how from a business standpoint, someone who's had two bad seasons you're gonna go ahead and bring it back on that deal. Yeah, you're right. I mean, look, Chris Jones, that's my dog. You know, we've we've we've been teammates for a long time. But like you said, I don't think with that type of cap hit they bring him back.

But I don't think he'll be the only one. I mean, there's a lot of people on this, you know, defensive side of the ball, offensive side of the ball, with steep cap hits that aren't being you know, aren't playing to that you know that cap hit potential. So for me, he won't be the only one revamped. But I think

his time and doubts might be a short lived. Yeah, you know, I actually I think I honestly need to go back and watch watch some more film on Christian Jones because I don't think I've seen the same thing that you guys seen as far as him in his location on the punts. I mean, you know, as far

as punt teams go. In my opinion, it's it's a it's a two prong thing, right, So you can either ask the guy to punt out of bounds and keep it out of return of hands, depending on who you're playing, or you can ask them to keeping the bounds and get those fifty sixty yard punts and I'll kick your coverage. And you have guys that you may not be able to rely on to make those those tackles. So I think it goes two fold to see, you know, how

how that actually went versus the stats. But I'm gonna look at it to see I just didn't see the same thing. But I think you are writing his cap hit may be a little bit too big for him to be back on the squad, you know, considering all the all the changes that we might have to make next season. Well, I think the problem was and you know, you know, you know Danny from what Joe Dcanmilliss used to say, when you pump the ball in the middle of the field. I forget what he used to call it,

what he called used to call it high treason. I think we called it high treason when you pump the ball in the middle of the field. And it wasn't that he wasn't getting you know, those bombs down the field like we're accustomed to sin, but he was just

putting them right in the middle of the field. And like Joe DC Millis used to say, that's high treason because then you got the whole returner, He has the whole field to work with, instead of just placing him in a corner and kind of cutting off that wide side of the field. So I think his problem wasn't the distance. I just think his problem was the location of his punts and how he was kind of out kicking his coverage or not really giving his coverage a chance.

And yeah, I'm gonna follow up on that one. I'm gonna follow up on that one. Okay, go ahead, No, No, I'm gonna watch the film and then I'll all love with you because, like I said, I didn't see the same thing, and I know that Coach Rich and Keith Quinn's scheme was a little different than Joe's. Joe D's whole whole scheme was based on, you know, cutting off on one side of the field, and Coach Rich was kind of kind of different. It was it was rally and correl not not really not really as much as

penning them in the corner. It's hard enough to play in the National Football League healthy, and it's definitely harder when you're hurt and you're talking about it core surgery for Chris Jones. So here's a guy who was who was kicking in pain this year if he was not healthy last year, and and it also contributed to him not having a good season, so we at least have

have just they would have kept with the Nuci. That's how they would have candy coated it if they were tanking. But look, you know, Garrett Gilbert and they're not the greatest, they're not the greatest options. They're not the greatest options, but I think they give

you a better chance than the Nucci out there. No, it's been three days at church, still over here trying to say that we said it's Tank. That is that the only tank on the tapecifically said thank specifically said tanking. I don't know, but you you might not have said it, but newly specifically said tank it. You know, by putting out Garrett Gilbert or Cooper Rush, this is going to help you secure a loss on Sunday. Okay, that's what they can't can't help as much as the Nucci. Putting the Nucci out there, it can't help as much as putting the Nuccie out there.

You see, any one of these gotta start. Nucci has thirty seven more passes in the National Football League because he's been He's actually got that one start. We ain't talking about Coop us his preseason games, none of us yourself. Who gives us a better Who gives us a better who gives us a better option that winning? Cooper Rush? Gil b No, well, no, they hadn't started a game. Why are you talking about winning against the Steelers, because so y'are telling so y'all would have after what y'all

It was his first start Sunday night football makeshift offensive line offensive coordinator who really who really didn't help him much besides on the first drive by not even letting him do anything but throwing behind a line of scrimmage. It's not like he had a whole bunch of help. And if the playbook is the same, you're going to see the same stuff with Cooper Rush. You're gonna see the same stuff for then Gilbert and you, I mean for Gilbert, and it's going to you'd be like, you

may as well beat the Nucie. You still you got Terrence still out. I mean, look, it's it's a problem. It's Cam Flemings might be out. I mean, car, Yeah, I'm not disagreeing. I'm not disagreeing that you know, Cooper Rush or Gilbert is gonna bring they're gonna bring us a home of w or anything like that. I'm not agreeing with that part or disagreeing with that part. All I'm saying is they had they are better options than what we've seen. And Ben the Nuccie. That's all I go.

I mean, that's they give us the best option. Okay. Steller a Stealer fan, Nah, because my my pops he my pops was a Raiders fan, so I kind of me and my pops were the only we were kind of the scapegoat of the family because everybody was a Stealer fan. Everybody loved the Stealers throughout my whole family. And if you said anything bad at bottom of me, that was you, that was your that was you. You was done from there, but me and my pops. He was a Raiders fan, so I kind of followed my pops and then I kind of floated

down here to Dallas. But yeah, I was never really a Steller fan growing up. Gosh, So so you're picked. So so when you picked the Cowboys this week, it's gonna be based off you really think they're gonna win, and you won't pick the steal If you picked the Stealers, it's not because you're a fan, it's because you think they got It's it's I think they're gonna win, and you know, the only one of the only chance I think we got, the only chance I we got, so Dallas.

But what I'm what I was saying, is the only chance I think we have is if somehow, some way, the Steelers, you know, they're still high on this,

you know, beating Baltimore Division opponent, the big rivalry. They just went up there and beat them, and then they've come to look at us, at the Dallas Cowboys saying, oh, they're down to their fourth string quarterback. You know, the offensive line is decimated. Let's just go ahead and mop the floor with these guys and kind of overlook us. I think that's really the only chance we kind of have. But even that, I mean, it's a long shot. It's gonna be a long okay, Okay, all right, I got you.

I'll see where we're going with this, Okay. I say, the only way that we have a chance is if the same thing that's happened at tonight on Thursday Night football for the San Francisco forty nine US happens to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Were almost nine consent of your roster is not able to come down here, and you've got three guys that usually start going out there. It is kind of an even match. The same way that we have no offensive line. While offensive line is make shift,

is Pittsburgh has to go through the same stuff. I think the defense is missing a lot of players. I think an offense will be able to put up some points. So there is a chance. COVID has given us a chance to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers. And you know that you're gonna be there. Cooper rush Man, you know he's gonna be in there in attendance. So we always got a chance with Big Rush. I hope he not the only Cooper. I hope he's not the only Cooper. I hope he's not the only Cooper at the game, right,

That's what I hope. I hope he's not the only Cooper that shows up to the game. And it's involved in the in the in the in the play call. So is your boy? Is your boy gonna show up this week? Is Cooper gonna show up and validate that hundred million dollars that the colle Cowboys have been given them? So for me, I gotta go with Aaron Rodgers and those boys. I got DeVante Adams on my fantasy. I need a big day out of him. Hopefully he can rush circles around these boys out there. But overall, I got this as an easy game for the Packers. I'm gonna go thirty five seventeen pack Oh okay,

More than more than picking the game and who's gonna win, I think it's gonna be interesting for me to see how the forty nine ers are able to perform, knowing that they have all these injuries and people on the COVID list, versus how the Cowboys are able to perform in a very similar situation. All right, I think for me to tell me a lot about Shanahan versus what we have over here with

Kellen Moore and Mike McCarthy. If the forty nine is able to go out here and be competitive against a good Aaron Rodgers led team and possibly put up a win, I think that says a lot when you start looking back and saying, hey, man, we didn't have enough to win you know, X amount of games and beat certain people. With that being said, I do pick the Green Bay Packers. Hopefully Davante Adams doesn't have a big game, because I

played Church this week in fantasy football. Um, but I think the game is going to get a little out of hand just because that is a lot of injuries to overcome. So I see him winn about fourteen at a thirty five to twenty one. I still do think that San Francisco will be able to run the ball a little bit. On Green Bay, I went thirty three seventeen Packers win this football game. Look, if you're the Packers, you look at this game and you say, all right,

this you've been given. You've been given a gift. Because when this game first came out and started the season and your account wins and losses, you're thinking, okay, you know what, San Francisco barely losing Super Bowl, that's probably all having to go out to California. But now with things changing around here, if you're a Green Bay, you've got to go handle your business and put one of these ws in the win column. And if they keep the playoff format the same, you're trying to get that

number one seed, so you get a week off. And if people forget about that with the extra playoff team, that means the number one seed now gets the week off. So if I'm the Packers, and I'm Aaron Rodgers. I'm telling guys, hey, look, take this thing serious. Let's go out here to the Bay, knock these guys out the box. Take away they will, and and get on the plane and get all back here to Wisconsin healthy and with

a win. So that, that, to me, should be the mentality. Um, you don't want to sit around here and play around and keep these guys in the game, especially with the game being in California. That's true. Rogersons from out there. Rogers is from out there too. Before you know, he got a bunch of people coming in there. Oh yeah, he definitely got a bunch of cats coming in and he got to avenge that. That what they did last

year when they went up in there. I mean he, I mean San Francisco blew those guys the thors off of the pack. So maybe he wants to avenge that a little bit. What do y'all think about Antonio Brown linking back up with Tom Brady down south and being part of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hold on to wait to finish the other one.

He has to avenge what the Vikers did to them last week on defense because they ran through it up like I don't know what happened, and what the bug that Aaron Rodgers a couple of weeks ago, which was really ugly. So I mean, they gotta they have a possibility to go out there and lay an egg, so

that's not out of the question. And uh and Tonio Brown, I honestly didn't think that he would get another job in the league, but you know there's a lot of guys around here that that get the second, second, and third and fourth chance. If it was my team, wouldn't have happened. I remember Bruce Arias saying that he's not a guy that we were were wanting a locker room, and then Tom brag changed it. So I'm not sure who the responsibility is gonna be on and who's who's

who's the guy who's watching him. But I don't have much faith in him being able to stay on the squad. But people change, so you know, I just go based off what you've shown me. And he went through a whole bunch of stuff in one season, so it's hard for me to say that he'll be able to stay out there this time, but you know, I wish the best for him. Jazz is back in the league and Tonio Brown is back in the league, not to say

Capriny is gonna get back in the league. I mean, you know who, Who's that, Who's next, Who's next, Who's who's getting back in the league next. I picked up Antonio Brown for my fantasy team and I'm starting this so I'm counting on Antonio Brown come on through Tom Brady to go to a guy he trusts. So I'm looking at the Antonio Brown Gronk show. This is Tim

running the team. He gonna tell Bruce arians what's up? Hey, Bruce were running these plays here that Gronk and Antonio No, So this was this was going on, and Bruce's just gonna sit up there saying okay, Tom, because Tom is running that thing. So I expect to see a whole lot of ab, a little dance, salsa, dancing the end zone. I'm all good with it, but I'm counting on it because I need him this week because I'm favored to lose by twenty. So I need Antonio Brown to put

the thing on. But it's not good this week. Do you expect it to make it through the through the season on the squad without without having any issues? Yes, yes, yes, yes, oh no no no no no. I don't mean because your fantasy team. I mean when you talk to when you speaking speaking, I believe this man has changed his world. But Cincinnati that need him because they got receivers. M But but you really do need to make this one work. And this is a guy you like and the guy you know. So the opportunity for Antonio Brown is there. This is a team that I expect to be in the playoffs. And if you're Antonio Brown, you come here, you help

this team go to another level. You have a good playoff run, and you might be able to find yourself with maybe a two or three year contract next year. So there's a lot. There's a lot going on for him. And this is something else that that I don't think people talk about it. What are his legal bills been looking like the past couple of years because folks have been going after him. So so you need to make this count and you need to get every check you

can because who know, and you got the child support. Mean, there's a lot of stuff he's got going on in this he's been dealing with who do you mean? No, who do you mean? When you who are you talking about? When you says you know they know this guy? Who you talking about? Bruce Arians because he was that he

was in Pittsburgh with Brady.
