how are I where you from? I said, from Austin Texas like that the thickest coach your own. I said, yep, you'll be buying a new one, double layer. I didn't know what he was talking about, but I ended up buying the double lair coat. I still have that coat today, end miraculessly it fits as you're doing something good? Right? What's so? Yeah? So I will I will be taking that too. You don't have one of them, inspect the gadget trench coats. I don't like trench coats, not a

big trench coach person. But my time living up North, Man I had so. I tell people now, if you moved from the South and you're going up north, you need a clothing allowance to buy things that you've never heard of. I mean somebody told me, like wool socks you need, like what the woolve socks? So I mean stuff that I never had. So um, it is something living up there's a whole different culture change, my man. So I would see your uncle can tell you his

whole stories. Hey, I know I went from Dallas in Manhattan, Kansas and that was that was a shock that Kansas cold is different kind of cold. Trees blocking it out of the play. Yeah, man, Missouri. When I was in Missouri, I spent a summer in Missouris why is it so hot here? I guess hot? But it then in the summertime, I mean I went in the wintertime it gets cold. Is you know what it was like? What's the purpose of literally you want to avoid one or the other? Right,

that's me? But so um, heck, you have questions for Barry Church and I want to give you the floor to go ahead and what's happening? Yeah, I mean what I wanted to do? What I what I really wanted to do, because obviously we got so much going on Cowboy Land. There's a lot of going on. It's like, obj, we'll get to open We're gonna get to all of that. But I really I posed the question this morning on the on the text, and I was saying, and can you live with this running d Is it something that

you could deal with? I mean, with all the things that the defense does, well, can you live with that? But then I got to thinking, and then I thought to myself and I said, self, what's happening. I know a guy that was on a good defense, the Saxonville Jaguars. Now this Saxonville defense. Dog, y'all ranked up top on everything, y'all turnovers, sacks, all of those things. But where was

the weakness in that defense? I mean, you went all the way to the AFC Championship with that defense being top tier, and the defense was considered to be special. Now this defense is on the cusp right there of being called special. Nobody's jumped out the cake to say, oh this all this is special especial. They right there right, But what was it for you? Like that? You said, look, we're good at all of these areas, but this is

the one chink in the armor. If y'all had if we had any man like you said, we were solid on all phases. I mean when you talk about, you know, run defense, we was up there. Past defense, We was definitely up there. Getting after the quarterback. They called us Saxonville for a reason, and then taking the ball away. So we was up there and pretty much each and

every one of our categories. I say. The only thing that really kind of gave us kind of a little bit of trouble, just a little bit of trouble was when teams went fast on us. You know, when team when teams had that up tempo and that's how Brady ended up beating us in an ASC championship. They went fast tempo and it didn't really give us an opportunity to really set our defense. When we got our defense set, it was a problem for anybody out there, any offense

once we got set. But when you went hurry up and had to force us to stick and remain in one personnel group or one specific defense, that kind of gave us trouble because even though we had, you know, players in each level of the defense, not a lot of those players were versatile. You know. We had some guys that specifically got after the passer, some guys that specifically were stopping to run, guys linebackers, the same thing. So when you gotta stuck persist in a specific personnel group,

you can you can do work on us. And that's when ended up hurting us in the in the AFC Championship. But when it comes to this Cowboys team and you talk about can they survive with a rush defense the way they have, I'm gonna say they they can do damage, but it's gonna be tough because you think about the three mismatches that they have in the NFC, and those are teams that can run the football and specifically do it,

and that's the forty nine ers. You got um Seattle who can run the football as well, and there was one more team out there who can run the football pretty well that might give this team problem problem. So I don't know, if you make a long run with the same type of defense, you gotta get better in

that against the run. And if you're able to get better against the run, the sky's a limit because then you're forcing teams to do what's in your wheelhouse, which is dropped back and pass, and we all know what this defensive line can do to that. But there's three matchups that I think the Cowboys will have trouble with. But if they can get that run defense in order, man, they're gonna be something. They're gonna be special. Like you said,

they're gonna be special. And I just feel like they're on the cusp of that special title being thrown on them. But I wanted, like for you guys when obviously Belichick saw something y'all, y'all displayed that at some point in the season where they's, oh, oh there it is right there, you know, And I think for our team it has been continuous from the beginning of the season from Lennard Fronette.

I was thinking about him just other I'm like, man, all of a sudden, playoff Lenny, like he's dropping off the map they have, you know, they're taking him out of games. But in the first game against us, it kind of showed right there, like, oh, this is the way that you beat these guys, and they never fixed that from last season. And so we're so good in all these other areas, but that's the one area that

you can point to that we're deficient. They've made some changes, they bought in some guys that they think they can the guy that they believe that can help in that regard. They have a linebacker now that they feel like, all right, we're upgrading at linebacker. Maybe we can get more stops. But I believe this is the game rus Green Bay where you have to see these guys round this off and stop to run. So this is this is a long comparison. Okay, it's probably not fair to do it,

but I'll just bring it up. The Colts team that won the Super Bowl for Tony Dungee ended the regular season basically one of the worst, if not like twenty eighth, twenty eighth or more in run defense. I mean they were really really bad. But by the towards you know, mid December, Tony fixed. He got people where they needed to be in the playoffs. They got on the run and they got it there. So looking at the numbers right now, you just see the Cowboys aren't real good. Yeah, Okay,

it's only two other teams with winning records. Um, it's it's Seattle and the Giants, who have a worse runded than you know in terms of giving a rushing yards per game. So you just have to get to the point and in some ways hope your offense can help your defense, because if the offense can jump out the big leads, then other teams you just you know, if you're down ten to twelve points against scot you're gonna have to throw a football. It's gonna go out to ban it run. So I think it's gonna be one

of those things. Where as as they get rounded. You know now that Dak is back and you're gonna get to know a brand back and you're you're getting Zeke backed. Maybe if your offense can getmproved, get better, you can help your defense out, keep them off the field and then limit team's ability to run the ball. So I think it's kind of one of those things we can look at that unit, but it's all got to really

work together here. Yeah, you're you're not lying because when you talk about, you know, this offense getting rounded in the shape and you got Zeke backing and Dak's starting to get that rapport back with his wide receivers. If this team jumps on somebody, and that's the thing that you know in the past, this Cowboys team is you know, everybody said the one negative is they never get up. They never get ready for games. It's always a slow start, you know, and then never right there and in for

the battle. But what Mike McCarthy has been able to do these past two years is these team has been able to start fast. Especially this season, I feel like this offense has been able to jump on teams and get them into that situation where they got to pass the ball and then you fall right into dan Quinn's ends with this pass rush. So I think you're right in to you. If this offense can round it off a little bit and start putting some pressure on these

opposing teams to keep up with the score. Then then you're working with some with the heck of a formula right now, because you're falling right into the mad scientists plans of getting after the quarterback. They're gonna have to help them. Yeah, that's that's really My kind of thing is should you be should you be worried? Yes, you should be worried, But at the same time, there is a way that you can. As Doug Collins was said, your job as a coach is to recognize awards in

your team and cover them up. So it's award, it's award. So how do they go about fixing? I think it's become a team thing. And maybe this is truly where um and he doesn't get the credit if they get it correct. This is where Mike McCarthy comes in as the head coach. They spent and you heard the press conference they spent the bye week where the position coach

has changed. So Aidan Dirty goes in and talks to the offensive lineman Tyler Smith was talking about, so you know, you get, hey, here's view of what the other coach is seeing about what you're doing here. And Robert Prince Malie Cooker of safety for the Cowboys, talking about how Robert Prince spoke to him. Um, you know serious. So that's kind of the cool thing there of all right, hey, look,

we're gonna tell you what we see over here. And I would be worried about especially against Minnesota Dalvin Cook Madison. You know those two guys, they can run the football. I got weapons on the outside to him. They do, they do, so yeah, he could play. He could play. So so it's gonna be it's it's going to be interesting. That's the one concerned heck that I do have about this football team. I think about him right now. That

along with health. I mean, that's just you're gonna be issuing with Jk's coming back here, defensive backfield Hooker's coming back from the hamstring. So health can this offense y'all think this offense can get to that point where it's explosive enough to wear jump on a minute, Wait a minute, did you say explosive? Hold on time consistency and proof? Time consistency a proof. But we have a formula We've had. We have a formula that we were able to get

Cooper Rush to win with. And everybody started to talk about this being the formula that we can use all the way through the season, and it's it's it was. It was impossible to do that because you're gonna come up against some opposition. As you would have said at the beginning of the season, Green Bay's gonna give you some trouble. The Vikings maybe would give you some trouble, are going to give you some trouble because they have

an explosive offense as well. And you can't just can you could put it the onus on your defense every game and say, all right, just hold these guys to ten points and we'll do the rest. How realistic is that? Come on? Now? I mean BC, That's why I ask you that question because obviously there are other teams that's looking under the hood of dan Quinn's defense is saying

where is the chink in the armor? And we've shown from the beginning that this running game is a problem, and also a running game with a mobile quarterback is the problem, all right, and so in our division specifically, we oh, yeah, we got one of those, and that's a problem. That is a problem and it has to be fixed. But when you just like you just said, when you start fast, you come out like we did versus the Bears, and you could tell it was in their mind. We're not gonna have a repeat of what

happened to us against Denver. No, no, no, no, no, nobody's gonna be talking about it. I got the you know that whatever it is, the blueprint, the blueprint, that ain't gonna be no blueprint today. We're gonna come out, We're gonna start a fense. We're gonna put points up. And if all y'all have is the run thing, good, all right, we'll let y'all have that. But at some point, this offense, and that's in pointing to what this offense is,

this running game, stand balanced with this running game. But at some point, even you saw the numbers go up with Dak last week, over the last couple of weeks, you're gonna have to put it on his arm. He's gonna have to throw you out of some situations. I'm sorry, Cowboy Nation has got to be that way. That's football. Hello, that's football, and that's that's okay, that's okay. That's that's gonna be a tough team. And when you start thinking about it right now, that's the set, that's

the team to look at. Behind Philadelphia, we think about it for the Cowboys. Here, you've got two more games against the top two teams records wise. Right in this in the NFC, you got a Christmas Eve matchup against Philadelphia. You get that here at Jerry World, and then you got to go to Minnesota for a second year in a row. I'm worried about Washington, worried about Washing. What the commanders look to command giants, they do what they're doing. Work. Now, you do what you need to do. I think where we are right now without wide receiver group, we're trying to find out do
