it is it is. We are honored to have you here, knowing, knowing full well that you are a Cowboy fan, So I mean, look, the man can't with b Wait, how you get a Super Bowl ring? Man? How you get a ring? Connected? I'm way connected. That's not the rest, that's not the stationary paper holder that they would give me. That's a whole hey, that's a whole nother thing. Man. This is uh, that's such a pleasure to have you

in the studio today with us. And as always, when I start the show, the number one thing that I do is I check in with brothers, make sure that we give a check in on how we're doing as men. I don't think we do that enough, you know. So BC, I'm gonna start with you. How are you today? Brother? You know, as Beesmos said, the mentals are good, The mentors are good. Right now, each and every day is blessed. M definitely, family doing good. My parents are coming in

town today, so it's a good day. It's a good day. Get to see everybody. So, um, you know what, I'm in a great space and in a great space right now. Oh man, I'm too blessed to be stressed, can folk. I got him this morning, and you really can for too much more than that, you know, beautiful family, all this opportunity in front of me, all of these beautiful things that are beginning to occur in my life. Yea, and my boys is killing the game. Yeah, you see

what I'm saying. Don't feel good when the Cowboys when everything go good, it just made everything smoothing your weak gold bouttles right, your attitude and exactly right. You know. It's just one of those stingings. Man. But man, let me let me first of all, first and foremost, just start off by just just litting anybody that don't know if you don't have Google, or if you just don't know anything about hip hop history. You gotta hit man, just a partner of West Coast rap rap in general.

But I'm gonna tell you, Uh, Doc, back in the day, you and the feel of fresh crew, Yeah all right, you used to go by dot T. Yeah, yeah, jam called. I hate to go to work, you know, as a growing up. I grew up to man, I hate to go to work all right every morning? Man? Uh was it Doctor Rock? You know in Dallas? Anybody that knows Dallas the history of detail hip hop um would would understand obviously from what you did later in your career. But man, that was the start of it for me.

And I never forget big tea bersare I saw you, Doctor Rock, bought y'all, the big teapers are y'all had the feeler zone and the gold ropes, all of that. Me and my home was Keimar Brown. We put a feelers jumpsuit on Leveway still over that right now. We wanted to be down with the feel of fresh crew. Man. But but back in those earlier, back in those early days, man,

I just I gotta dig into this. And you, as a partneer man, what was that like coming up in the scene of Dallas is because especially for hip hop back then, everything was on the East Coast. Yeah it didn't. It didn't really exist here um certainly not the way it did on the East I mean, but but it was a whole bunch of kids out there, you know, trying to get into it, you know. And I was just lucky enough or blessed enough that I was always

an avid reader as as a young young youngster. So when rap came, I had a plethora as that Stephen. They would say, yeah, words in my in my vocabulary that I use that the average guys wouldn't use, you know, And so they they thought I was special. And when you get that that little taste of someone telling you you good at something, you really want to be good at it, right, And I mean back then especially, I mean there was no there was no at that time,

there was no Dtown rap scene at all. So y'all were the first to ask to do that, like for us, you know, fall in love with hip hop. For me, it was all run dem seed, thick red rugg fresh run deals, you know what I mean. Yeah, So for you to jump over and do that and Dallas man, that that was like for like I said, for me, it was it was a whole movement. But then from there you transition to go out to the West Coast and bring a whole nother stack one of the most

legendary albums to be written. You wrote it and introduced it to the world that moment in hip hop history. What was that like for you? Uh? It was? It was amazing, bro. You know it was coming from Dallas, going going out there to California. Hell, California didn't really exist then. Yeah, they didn't let the guys on radio. Um, it was hard to make well what they would call, you know, edgy rap music. Everything was pop out there and the l A dream Team and super sign thinking

and all of that kind of stuff. But for me, being being in part of that whole NWA movement was everything you would think it would be. It was just really dope and to be connected with all of that great sound. Yeah not. I mean it's getting funky enough. Man, You're bringing me back to my whole like high school. Man. You don't even ce PC a young guy, all right, that but but he he an old young guy. Yeah no, no, nor so so a lot of this I'm just telling you, Like,

for us is got from Dallas. The DC was like that voice where everybody on the West Coast I was trying to claim him and we wouldn't let him. We're like Noah. Now he might have on the LA hat, but he even wins Dallas. He for right around here, man. And I just want to make sure that I give you your flowers to date to let you know how

instrumental you are in hip hop. And I know everybody that know you know you as a legend, but I just wanted to come off my lips to yours to let you know, man, that I appreciate everything that you've done for the scene, not only here in Dallas but worldwide. And man, that's it's just awesome to have you here in the building. But Doc, we're gonna get to these cowboys, man, because I want you to. I want to hear from you. What is your thought process on the twenty twenty two

Dallas Cowboys. Well, I mean we look real good, bro. We you know, dcor Bottom, We better than than hell everybody. I mean, we we are competing at we we are side. We're a solid football team on in all three phases football, and we really kind of a way above average and all three phases. So you see what happens when we can put when we put a perfect game together, Oh yeah,

we go get the act bad. Yeah, and the col and so what what these Cowboys have put together in terms of this defense in the past couple of years has been amazing. Man. You know, we gotta we gotta pack of young wolves out there, and they all hungry. Yeah you know, and they get out there led by number eleven and the act real bad consistently, you know what I'm saying. And so look, I'm I already got my ticket. I don't know about the rest he booked up. Yeah,

you already got the Airbnb and everything. I'm ready to go. Man, this is uh you know for me. And we talk about this daily on the show about how this Cowboys season has a good run all over. We don't want to say the s B word, all right, Yeah, we don't want to take yourself. It's a reason why water Jacket, I see it, God Slot, It's a reason why water had uh huh. Understand me. But we're trying to get back to a consistent run, which is what Cowboys football is all about.

If you if you take, you know, I tell my friends, if we take what they give us, then they're gonna give us what we want a lot of times out of ten because we got too many. You know, we got a team for the really great football players. Yeah, you know, gallib look really great. Uh, these past couple of weeks. He's coming along, and don't let the other person come down here, man, it's just come on, bro. Let you get you get you a plane ticket Arizona and meet me out there. Yeah. So fact, don't don't

beat don't meet me there, beat meeting. So you know, we we new Newy Scrugs is also on the show. He has school duty today. He's working on his master's degree. And also, uh, Danny mccraie is on the show. He's on special assignment. Um, but we always talk about the the old Deell Beckham need verse, won't you know? Right now, it don't see to me and the BC, it doesn't

seem like much of a need. It seems more like a won't, especially for the way that this this defense is operating and the way that this offense is operating on the dack. When you look at a player like Odell Beckham in your mind, are you saying to yourself like he is the key piece that we need to push us towards uh championship potential. Well, we already championship potential.

Let's let's get that at the top. But if you get a guy like that in here, even coming out what he's coming off of being who he is, he opens up the game for everybody. Everybody get a chance to eat now because you gotta you have to pay so much attention to all three of those guys and those two guys in the backfield and Dak like man picky poison. Yeah, I mean, like, how can you stop that? And what a defense like? I always go back to

this defense becausin man, what those guys have shown. Uh, they're a resilient bunch of of young men, you know, Uh, I was blessed enough to speak to the team UM in California the night before they played the Rams and meet all those guys, strong bunch of young dudes, resilient bunch of guys. They got the head on writing. They focused on the mission that's in front of them. Bro. Defense, when's championship? Bro? You know that? And we got a strong defense and the young boys is on where I

think we might be. You know, we might be in the inter spiral. We can get us two or three. Oh, whoa, here we go? All right? Open it. So usually that's me. I'm gonna positive. They called me positive round. That's what I do, Doc. But I want to talk about your message, because, man, you are doing something now that's completely different from where you were in the past. And you talk about talking

to speaking to the team. Your message to the team that night when you got an opportunity to talk to them before the Rams came, it was really about it. It's a testimony of where I am today after all the things that I've had to sort of walked through to be here today. You know what I mean. Um, I was just trying to make those guys aware that this is a moment that they end and if they really concentrate on capturing this moment, how great it could

be for their futures. They're they're talented dudes. Um a great bunch of guys. I heard. I heard Michael say, you know, they came around and take pictures. I heard him in the back of me say, I don't know Ill, but I like him. But you can't do no better than that. And yeah, bro, these those guys as my little brothers. That's that's why I feel about them, you know, after that night, and I want the best one. I

want I want this. I want this win for them in the worst way, not only because I feel like they are really capable of it, but they're good guys and they deserve it. The city deserves it. Yeah. But uh, man, we were talking about the big briefcase to end and man, the way that he's playing right now, it looks like his runaway for Defensive Player of the Year being man uh nfl vent somebody that's seen, you know, played at the high level as being one of the best in the business. Do you believe that this is an award that they might just go ahead and put the boat on and put his name on and sending on over here to the star. Man, I'm not gonna

lie to you. If if it was anybody else, if it was anybody else on any other team, I would say he still got a you know, some ways to go. But seeing as though this guy has coming here not only as a rookie changed the game, but also coming in the second year being that bona fide leader, getting rally in the troops and what he does for that defense, not only himself as being ultra talented. We all know the guy's extremely talented, but he sets everybody else up.

Similar to what she was talking about with Odell. He sets everybody else up with the one on ones to succeed. And I just don't think this defense would be where it's at right now if he wasn't in the lineup. And then you throw on top of that, the Dallas Cowboys play so many primetime games, so many primetime games, so you get a chance all the voters, all the viewers, they get a chance to see him on display pretty

much each and every week. If they had on primetime, there on the Fox Game of the week in the afternoon, they're on some form of national television, and that puts him on a pedestal, that puts him on top of the stage to get all the viewers, all the boats. So if he keeps going away, he's going it's a rat, gets the baby. It's over with put a bow on it. This guy's gonna walk away with Defensive Player of the Year. And that's what he deserves because he's a boss man.

He's a foller. Now DLC, you've seen a ton of great NFL players. When you see Michael Parsons, like what does he And a lot of people like to draw comparisons, but I would like to know what is your direct comparison to what you see for Michael Parsons. You know what, I don't have a I don't have a I don't have anything I can draw from for that. No. Man, the guy's just uh, he's a generational talent. Man. It's just it's hard to keep him away from the action.

I don't care where he's at. Man, if you let him do what he does, well, he's going to allow you to win games. Yeah, you know what I mean? So multiple uh defensive player her if you ask me, he bought a few of them before. But before he leaves this game, you know. And uh, like Barry was saying, he allows everybody to eat and if everybody get a chance to get them some food, and bro, you you

got a happy defensive corps out there. Yes, everybody on that offensive line is getting a chance to get some of that food back down and it just looks great. What wasn't that wasn't number Oh it wasn't number six? Was his name? Wilson? That's my guy. Man. Yeah, that guy brings wood. Brain reminds me of wood, you know what I mean, Yeah, the way he bring the wood.

I mean, you gotta have a dude that's ready to go out there slank some of that meat in that position and uh uh of course from number seven from heaven. But God, did you know? I mean like, we got a really talented group of guys. Man. I love his change. It's a great football team. Erry did a great job,

you know. Yeah. Now, front office wise, that's one of the things that I've I've been applauding, you know, Will McClay in the job that they've done done putting this defense together, even letting go of some pieces that people thought was Hey man, Randy Gregory, you know, we talked about him and and him being the key pieces. When he got let go, it was like, man, what are

we gonna do? Uh? And then we didn't know that Dante Fowler would be the player that he is, Don's Armstrong would be the player that he is, and all of those things. I think that's what's so shocking about the developments of everything that's happened on defense, specifically from where we were in twenty twenty when we gave up the most yards ever as the Dallas Cowboys franchise to where we are two short years later. Yeah, man, you know that. To me, I think that's the biggest surprise.

But just transitioning where we are right now. I think most people think that the Achilles heel of this defense is the run game. But over the last couple of games, we've seen where they haven't allowed a hundred yard Russia, and they've gone against some dogs, and they have gone against some dogs, and this Sunday specifically, you have another

dog coming into at and T Stadium. But if this defense is able to you know, still not allow a hundred yard Russia, does that give you that trust time, consistency, in proof that we now see that this defense is now kind of alleviated those ghosts or what people think

is the weakness in this defense. I would have to say so because if you think about it, like you said, time proof and consistency and consistently they have gone against these past three weeks, including Jonathan Taylor when they play him on Sunday, they'll have gone against Dalvin Cook, who's a dog. He's just east sa Quon Barkley who gashed us the first time we lay, we got to win, but they still gashed us. And then this week Jonathan Taylor, those are to me three of the top ten running

backs International Football League. And if you can contain those guys and hold all three of those guys to under one hundred yards, I think they've gotten that right mentality and that swarming mentality where this is what we have to do to stop the run. We can't have a lot of hero ball, gotta be gap discipline out there, and I've noticed these past couple of weeks they've gotten into that gang tackling mode. There's no there's no one on ones out there with this defense. Whoever has the rock,

you see three full five hats to the ball. At the same time there's wrestling. They're moving around and they're getting the ball carrier on the ground, and that's something we didn't see early on in the weeks. You know, I think it was learning for Nette. The first week he wearing for one hundred and twenty one and you know, the yards started piling up. But lately these guys have gotten into that gang tackle mentality and it's really limited these carriers. So to me, if they're able to go

out there and limit Jonathan Taylor. It'll be a step in the right direction to get this run defense settled. Do you feel the same way. Absolutely agree. I said earlier that resilience is it's a word that really describes the sho this young defense. Of course, especially after that

first game with Brady. Yeah, how after that goes out there, really step up and give Cooper a chance to be to play some great football, you know what, man, so um, the reason we are in a position that we're in right now is that we can ain't our had on these guys. They're gonna show up every Sunday. They're gonna give you everything they got. And it sounds like it seems like we got enough of them that you can move these guys in and out keep them fresh and hungry. Exactly.

I think we learned a lot up there in Green Bay, you know, as far as the run game is concerned, and if we stick to you know this, this, this letting Michael do what he does best and sure up those other areas will be great. Man, We're gonna be fantastic. So let Michael do what he does best. Has been a ongoing debate here in this building because I'm I'm sure you I don't know. Let me say defensive end. Yeah, that's okay, okay, you really gotta find out what side

people all goes. That's some people to say linebacker, some people say ed Russia. For me, it's ed Russia winter Meat. One of the great one in one of the greatest disruptors in football right now is that man. Let that man be a man out there. Man. Yeah, it's gonna make the whole team then no, And I love what you say about you know when he eats, And for me, it's it's because the offensive line has to pay so much attention to him that two guys are always relegated

up front for him. That means that these guys are always in a one on one situation. If you're putt in a one on one situation, you supposed to win every time and get to the and get to the football. But man, and switching over to the other side of the ball, and being eight and three right now, looking at the games that we have ahead of us, and I don't ever want to count my chickens before they hatch. But the Cowboys look to be set up to be to kind of run the table, right now um to

to have. Let's say, at the end of this, I'm looking at possibly being eleven and three going into our Christmas Eve game. I hate the Eagles, I say that, Yeah, I hate the Yeah, I don't you know, I have a good things. We made a bet on this game, on this on this podcast doc, and I said the Cowboys was up by twenty before we got off the plane. I did, I did, I did. I said that. I said a chance to like you show you and they bet. You know, they thought I was you know, you know McGruff.

You know I was too gruff for that. It was like, man, you know I had they been a tasty cake. This is a Philadelphia telecontesta. Whatever I end up having to eat it. It was horrible. But anyway, not getting all subject right now, I just feel like offensively, with Dak being back, that changes the dynamical of where we are and there not a lot of people are gonna give Number four his credit for the the player that he is. What's your doc, what's your what's your what's your opinion

on Dak Prescott as a president as a quarterback. I came in saw it, and so that is a that is a great NFL quarterback has been for a long time, UM and and whether it's injury, whether it's situations, UH has always put us in there in a spot where we couldn't be our best. Right now, everything is set up for him to be Super Bowl quarterback and he's got all the ability and talent to be that. He showed you and in what was ninety nine point nine to send a perfect game in Minnesota. Every throw was

fantastic to do. Look like a video game. I mean, so you can't play like that and tell me you're not that guy. You just have to put him in a position him and with what Deep is doing out there and Zeke getting back healthy, like, it's just really it's really hard to maintain uh any kind of sense of the corum defensively against this this this monster's got too many heads on it. Boy, you from Dallas for real? Yeah? You a detail? See, Yeah, that's how they gonna see

But the NFC East is gonna get real interesting this weekend. The Philadelphia Eagles have a showdown with the Tennessee Titans. That's a big game. That's a big game. It's an other game. The Commanders and the Giants play each other. So yeah, let's you know, throw a sharp object in the room which you want to come out. I don't get that's the way I feel about that game. But the Cowboys have an opportunity to make up some room in the NFC East that the Titans can beat them.

And obviously, the Cowboys keep with their winning ways and get a victory on Christmas Eve. How what's your approach to this BC. Do you believe that the NFC East is as important to the Cowboys because again, you get a home game. We talked about this a little bit yesterday. Do you think that that should be singular approach to this organization? No, I like it. I like having home games. It's playoff games. I like, you know, going in there

and being in that home atmosphere. I know last year, you know, forty nine Ers came in here, they beat the Cowboys in the wild card. I understand that, but I feel as though this team is a little bit more mature, you know. I feel like McCarthy has done a much better job this year of getting this team prepared and ready to play and more discipline. You know, we still see the penalties, but not as much as last year. So I feel like this team is ready

to go there. They're they're they're veteran led. They got Dak the gas Zeke, they got the boys on defense. So I feel like they're ready to go in the home playoff game to start the playoffs. I think would do them justice. Um. The only thing that's in the way of that is the Philadelphia Eagles and this matchup

coming up this week, and I think it's huge. I think this matchup against the Tennessee Titans for the Eagles is huge for both them and the Cowboys because if the Tennessee Titans are able to beat the Eagles, then that gives that showdown that comes in Christmas Eve with the Dallas and in Philadelphia. That makes it even more heightened because then they get to if they win that game, it's all it's all squared up then yeah. So to me,

this is huge or Tennessee Titans. If they were be able to beat Philly, that was set the Cowboys up great because the rest of the schedule for Philly they got you know, the Bears, the Saints, and the Giants twice outside of the Cowboys, and I don't see them losing any of those teams. But I do feel like the Tennessee Titans can give them a run for the money. So I'm rooting for the Tennessee this weekend. But that's gonna be a huge, huge game for both Philly and

the Dallas Cowboys. Now, as as a former player, have you ever not not clock watch but you know game watch? Yea to make sure like you you are you as a Cowboy player, are you watching that game to see, you know, Tennessee get that victory, because at this point in DC and excuse me, in December, those all of these games were starting to count. Do you do you start to look at that Yes, I know all them players is looking right at those games. I mean especially

this one this weekend. They're saying it, if we can get this victory there, if they can get a victory against Philadelphia, they give us one step closer. So if they're able to watch the game, they're gonna be watching that game. I don't know what time it comes on, but if they're able to watch that, they're gonna watch that to make sure, Okay, we got a chance, we gotta close these colts out, to make sure we can get a step closer. Cats are watching that, you did.

Players they always say, oh, I don't pay attention to the media. I don't pay attention to all those other games they watching. They understand what each and every media member says about him out there, and they're watching the games to see what matchups work out best for them. So they're gonna be keeping an out definitely this weekend for Philadelphia. Man, how excited are you, Doc? For a playoff game at home? I saw you? I think it was last week. I saw you. You was at at

And so I met the coach through his daughter okay, and he saw my story and he was like, wow, I think you're really cool guys as your person man.

So for the past couple of years, I've been hanging out with the McCarty's every game. Bro. I don't ain't missing nothing. So you can just call me Doc McCarty. I'm all on the sideline. I was on the side. I was on the sideline last week. My boy mad he didn't get to go on the sideline last week checking pictures with the kicker who is one of my heroes. See why we we we are solid football team all around. When you got a kicker that can kick from sixty twice in a row like it's I do this every Sunday.

And just along with what you said about the probability of us getting the play of the magnitude of Odell Beckham, if we hit a player like that at and T Stadium, gonna be But now they're gonna have to nail.
