We went and saw Rogue One and we weren't able to contain our excitement! So here's our opinion on the movie, with full on SPOILERS throughout the entire episode, enjoy!
With Marco "Dr." Dupa down with the sickness, Dave and Adam are officially running the looney bin known as The One Beer In Podcast. With the recent Playstation Experience and Video Game Awards, there are tons of new games on the horizon to get excited for, including everything from The Last of Us 2 to Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Sound the horn--we also got a new Trailer Trash segment where we offer high praise for the Spider-Man: Homecoming teaser and...well, not praise for the recently announc...
Due to schedule conflicts Davey the God couldn't bless us with his presence, but we (barely) keep the fire alive with talk of the biggest moments of the week. Plus, if you want to hear two amateurs talk about the political ramifications of underestimating the "Alt-Right," then you have come to the right place!
We finally move on from the Oktoberfests to an IPA from Intuition Brewing Co. Adam tells us about the panel he participated in and we chat about our reactions to Nintendo's stock falling despite the announcement of the Switch being a winner amongst most fans. We also have a couple of surprise guests, so drink up and have a good time!
We're serving up the best of the best of recent previews in this Trailer Trash-ful episode, as Ladi and Ellie join us to talk Rogue One, Doctor Strange, and Power Rangers. The week's Oktoberfest is from local favorite, Cigar City, although don't let their reputation fool you--this may not exactly be the winner we've come to expect.
As we continue on our quest for the best Oktoberfest beer, this episode we have the Leinenkugal offering. We also get local, as we talk best bars, favorite local brewery, and the impending gentrification of our "coolest" neighborhoods.
In this one we breakdown some new tech in the PlayStation 4 Pro and iPhone 7, both of which were announced with a bit of controversy. Then we close out with a quick chat on Bethesda pointing a big ol' finger at Sony for not allowing mods on Fallout 4 and the Skyrim rerelease. Cheers!
Our Oktoberfest journey continues with Yuengling's take, and we address the YouTube censoring controversy. We also get our hands on Battlefied 1, and talk about the real history of Yoga.
On this windy road of a podcast, we start off with some talk of creative workplace woes, jump into speakeasies and drug legalization, then somehow end up talking about Donald Trump, obviously. Sip this habanero-infused brew of podcasty goodness with us -- this is The One Beer In Podcast!
Welcome to episode 100!! Although we ran into some post-recording technical difficulties, we still throw everything but the kitchen into this week's milestone episode! No subject is off limits, and no beer goes wasted (unless you count Ellie's). We also pick our favorite brewing company of the year, and have a special announcement for everyone who's stuck with us. Cheers to 100 more!
With this episode of One Reel In, we have the need...the need for a better script. Need for Speed, based on the video game series, takes us on an American road trip in a tale of retribution, the thrill of the open road and Kid Cudi playing a racial stereotype. Plot holes, bad writing and fast cars -- let's roll. For those new to the podcast, this is a special we sometimes record, reviewing good bad movies. One Beer In will be back next week with EPISODE 100 OMAGAHHHHHHHHH.
Marco has a theory that could blow this whole Pokemon GO! thing wide open...or maybe he's just a crazy person. Still, the boys break down the latest on the global phenomenon, and if it was actually any good in the first place. We also give our thoughts on the supposed "beef" between Drake and Eminem (complete with multiple hot takes), and get burned yet again by a Frank Ocean release.
This episode involves controversy and intrigue, friends. Things get strange (and nostalgically awesome)with Stranger Things. Sulu is gay and that is not OK by original actor, George Takei. We talk about recent efforts to make movies (like the new Rocketeer -- starring a black woman) a bit more progressive and, finally, talk about The Killing Joke movie meh-fest. Toast!
Is ogling scantily clad women while they wash your car misogynistic, or our God-given American right? Probably a little of both, and with the recent opening of a Baywatch inspired car wash in our home town, we'll explore this and the many other establishments that ask us to buy in to this concept. We also bring to you another installment of Trailer Trash, featuring the bonkers XXX promo, and the latest Netlix/Marvel offerings! Plus, Dr. Dupa gets a house call live from a special friend of the po...
With fan of the show/token Brit/Adam's girlfriend, Elouisa, in the mix, we get into Mr. Robot's season 2 premiere, reviews for the Ghostbusters reboot, the new Nintendo NES and Elouisa's party plans. Prost!
We talk all monsters on this episode as the release of Pokemon Go has the world in a frenzy. We also bring it back to Evolve, a game that Marco and Dave were excited about and one that is getting a much needed overhaul, but is it too late? And finally, we couldn't talk UFC without another Jon Jones controversy. Luckily The Beast Brock Lesnar is here to save the day!
Don't worry, people -- it's not all doom and gloom on this one. With fan of the show Rob joining us, we dish on the new Doom reboot, which Adam has some glowing first impressions on. Then, we segue into the rocky track record of video game movies and touch on how reboots can be done right.
With Adam out of town, we bring in podcast fam Niladi to help us crack open some brews and break down the latest! David got his hands on the much hyped, highly controversial Mighty No. 9, and it does not disappoint. No wait, the game does, but not our reactions. Plus, Ladi finally gets to play Game of the Year front runner, Overwatch!
Inviting back fan favorites, Bohn and Travis, the boys tackle their favorite games and announcements from the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo.
As Dave enjoys the sunshine and good vibes of Bonnaroo, we're joined again this week by our friend of the podcast Bohn! We share our opinions on Hulkamania running wild on Gawker to the tune of 131 million, and what implications it could have going forward. Then, as E3 slowly creeps towards us, we delve into one of the first leaks, Watch Dogs 2. That and more, plus some Lagunitas to wash it all down!
With Marco charting his way through the Uncharted series and Dave slowly rock climbing his way through part 4, we talk about the highs and lows of an overall fantastic series. Then, Dave talks about his new video game bae, Blizzard's Overwatch. High praise is thrown around, there's a spring in his step and a good time is had by all. Finally, we go political with a breakdown of our feeling on Donald Trump having a very real chance of being our new Mr. President. Less of a good time is had by all....
Welcoming old friend, Travis Gomez, to the show, we talk his life as a professional stuntman, jump into his opinion on the likes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's weak villains, X-Men's weak showing in Apocalypse, Star Wars, Game of Thrones, and so on and so forth. Oh, and we feature our very first cider, so, cheers to new things. This is The One Bee...er, Cider in Podcast!
Two of the guys watched wine-tasting documentary, "Somm," and got inspired to sip beer in the most obnoxious way possible. We then get into a discussion about liars, frauds and falsities...and the Kardashians. Finally, we end with a talk on the importance of reviews in video games and one controversial review for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.
The boys break down Cap Civil War with a SPOILERCAST, then take on the first trailer for the upcoming video game movie, Assassin's Creed. Adam also avenges a toilet. Good times.
With Battlefield 1 exchanging fire with Call of Duty Infinite Warfare in the form of new game trailers, we give our take on who is winning this war for virtual warfare. Then, we welcome six new entries into the Video Game Hall of Fame. Are they worthy?
Is Redlight Redlight Beer Parlour the best brew pub in Florida? RateBeer.com thinks so and we give our take. Then we dive into some video game news with the latest Call of Duty, which includes a shiny new Modern Warfare re-release. We also discuss Outlast 2, the sequel to last year's horror hit.
Dave is on a new fitness kick and tried out Crossfit -- did he return a changed (re: fanatical) man? We then move into recent controversy dealing with UFC superstar, Conor McGregor. Is he making it into the ring for UFC 200? Then, we end with our thoughts on the recently passed king of soulful pop (and kickass guitar player), Prince. We send him off with a little thoughts on his impact on music and our lives. Prost!
The cast gets another rotation, as Marco gets back in town from Tampa just as Adam goes south for sunny Miami. We also have another special guest this week, as Ladi joins to help us unpack everything from Dave's date with a sensory deprivation float tank, Kobe Bryant's retirement from basketball, internet shaming (specifically parent shaming), and her problem with Zelda games. We also talk AMC's controversial (and swiftly reversed) decision to allow people to text in their theaters.
Alright, we know we've already talked ad nauseum about the upcoming VR revolution (that will result in the complete enslavement of all of humanity, no doubt), but with special guest, Bohn, subbing in for Marco, we have a fresh perspective on the likes of the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, PlayStation VR, and Samsung Gear VR. Stay tuned after the credits for a special, bonus topic.
There's word of Suicide Squad adding in some lighter moments of comedy between the brooding and tension due to the critically negative response to Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. We discuss whether we think this plan is the right course of action for the upcoming DC film. Switching gears, Action Bronson is in some hot water after students at George Washington University took offense to an old song of his and an insensitive, transphobic Instagram post (which he soon deleted). Much ado about ...
