Episode description

His name is Matt Barbera, and he's a recovering out-oholic. Matt, currently in his tenth year of being president of the Playground Theatre, loves going out and being social so much he adopted (coined?) a term for it. He's of the opinion that this existence colors the lives of most 22-30ish year olds who venture to Chicago post college in search of jobs, apartments, adventure, and friendships, especially when one is "raised on the precipice of being a bro," and he has absolutely defined and excelled at what it means to be addicted to going out on the town. He tells me some stories from his years of outoholism (there's drunken fence jumping involved), favorite spots to frequent, people he knows he can always count on to bring out his outoholic tendencies, what outoholism looks like as one gets older, and how it ultimately is a big help in a lot of aspects of his life including being the proprietor of a successful comedy theatre. Matt even has a Buzz Management System (BMS) that he has perfected over the years. We had a total blast, and we appropriately offed a bottle of wine [mostly] during the recording. Notes: The Playground Theatre and more specifically Out of Character A Tribune piece about Sumo at the Elbo Room RIP Melvin B's Truck Stop
