Episode description

This episode of the "What Makes Humans Human" series looks at the dichotomy of the person - outer man v. inner man. We are all made up of both material and immaterial - the body, and the heart and conscience, often called either the soul or the spirit. There have been many different philosophies over the history of mankind about the relationship between body and soul. Some have elevated the importance of the soul, and considered the body a trap or an illusion. Others have leaned heavily toward the reality of the physical experience. But God is the God of everything, redeeming all aspects of the person. He is holistic - the body and soul are separate aspects, but the physical cannot exist without the spiritual. Just as both the body and soul are corrupted by sin, both can be brought under the authority of God. You can honor God in your body, and pursue submission to Christ in your spirit. Check out this episode to better understand the relationship between your body and soul, and how to experience the freedom of Christ in a holistic way!
