¶ Intro / Opening
You laughed at me. Wow.
¶ Welcome to Muttley Crimp
It's fucking hot. I just want to drink it now. Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to an episode of the Muttley Crimp. We're fucking getting amped. It's Origin Preview Night. Not Origin Preview, just Origin Pre. I was going to say, we've already done that, bud. It's Origin Eve, but it's like in a couple of hours. I'm getting fucking amped up. It is blue. The gaming boulevard is blue. We are wearing blue. And it feels even better that this old mate here, non-Mr.
Blue, is not even here because he's got the Blues. Yeah. Queenslander doesn't show up. They don't show up, man. They don't get Origin. They just don't get Origin. Don't get it. They don't get it. They just don't actually get Rugby League in general, really. And then he even does a fucking bit of a cock move today. He throws in the group chat, want to go to the Origin boys getting tickets. Oh, my. A little tease. Brother, still be working, I reckon.
Oh, still working. Be full-time at the origin. Be like, nah, boys, still working. Shout out to Cody. Love you, mate. Well, I can't even ask how he is, but he must be busy. Sorry, what was that? Can't even ask how he is. But how are you, Kyle? How are you doing on this fine blue evening? Oh, mate. I'm fucking red hot. Actually, I'm blue hot. Literally. This over there's got two jumpers on a jacket and a beanie. And a shirt. And a shirt. And pants. He's triple-packed.
Packing on packing on packing. Yes. But here we are.
¶ Rugby League Weekend Recap
We're going to talk about our rugby league and it is Origin tonight, but we still had a lot of rugby league over the weekend. Well, last night. Coming in. By the time this is out. It is what it is. You know. So you're, okay, so you've been listening to this and you're thinking, yeah, you fucking idiots. New South Wales suck. Or you'd be, you know, admitting New South Wales are awesome with a fucking awesome performance tonight. Should be a red hot game. I hope.
Anyway, we just had. I hope. First major buy round and we had some Rough Rubby League. Five games. And all the outsiders with the win. Holy moly. What a shit week to hit for most... Everyone. But it just shows rugby league, you know, the salary cap is coming back to the squeeze. It's sort of working that the loyal teams can beat the big teams, especially when they're missing some players. And it just makes the ladder just get juicier and juicier and juicier and swollen.
Swollen. Swollen. Swollen. And we had the fucking pretenders, the flat track bullies, number one, the Bulldogs get absolutely demolished by the Dolphins. And, mate, that was one more try-off, which nearly happened, to being lying out, never going to win the season. To be honest... Dolphins won 44-8. To be honest, it's actually quite a stat, though. I want to double-check the score, because how many points did they concede against the Broncos that game that they lost?
Like 30, 40? Yeah. So, I reckon in games that aren't in wet weather, they concede on average about, like, 13 points, maybe 11, somewhere around that space. In wet weather footy, they're conceding 40-plus on average. They've played two wet weather games. Both times they've played in the wet and like torrential wet. He's got 42. And what did the Dolphins score? 44. So they're averaging 43 points against them in torrential. Which is really weird because they are a small mobile pack.
You'd think, again, it was like Panthers through that four years. They couldn't win in the wet, which was weird because the Panthers team and their game style suited wet weather footy but couldn't fucking win them wet. A bit like the doggies. Can't defend in the wet. But you would love it as a Bulldogs fan. Well, not love it, but you lose a game, but you're still at the top of the ladder all by yourself, untouched, not a bad feeling.
We got to Friday. I've been untouched for a little while and it's not great. And we did this Friday. And we had the biggest boil over, I would say the biggest upset of the week and up there. But we had the Parramatta Eels 30 pump the Manly Seagulls 10. Sorry, what? I reckon. Eels. The upset of the week. Eels. Against a depleted Panthers side that had fucking had no one. Come in second last. They beat last. Well done. We're talking about Eels and Manly,
you fuckhead. You want to even listen to me talk? Fuck no. Jeez, shut up. I stopped listening as soon as, I thought this was the Knights game you're on. Well, that's not even, that wasn't Saturday, mate, and you're not listening. Yeah, because you're just talking shit. Anyway, sorry, continue. Yes, Eel, 30 beat Manly, 10. Biggest upset because Eel's without Lomax, Moses, and they actually win. And that's why I'm not listening. It's not the biggest. It wasn't the biggest upset of the round.
Anyway, then we get to Saturday and we had the, oh. Second biggest upset. What a stunning game of the weekend. We had the Newcastle Knights, get back to winning ways, flex a bit of power. We scored more tries in the first 20 minutes than we have in 89. No, no, I'm pretty sure the stat was that you scored more points in the first 13 minutes or 23 minutes, one of the two, than you have in seven of your 13 games.
Nice. Yes, Newcastle won 25-6. With that stat, though, I don't love that we didn't score a try again after the 23rd minute. You know, we definitely could have scored a lot more, but it is what it is. We'll take the win.
¶ Major Upsets and Performances
And that leaves the Penrith Panthers on dead last once again, all by themselves. Watch this space. Did anyone have that on their bingo card? Holy damn. And then Saturday night, we had a pretty red-hot game. It was the Roosters who just turned it on. They were on from the start, and the Sharks just couldn't keep up. They couldn't get with them, and they had a dominated win of 42-16. I still don't understand how this isn't the upset of the round,
and I'm not even saying this as a biased Roosters fan. Sharks were full strength. We were missing origin players, plus injuries. Don't even go into it, mate. Let's still look at the Roosters team that they had in the park compared to the fucking Parramatta. And you're telling me that's competitive to a full-strength Sharkside? It's still better than the Parramatta team by a fucking tenfold. You're having a laugh. It's because of the salary cap, mate.
Mate, basically our entire Ford pack are on, don't even have a deal. They've all got deals, mate. They don't have a contract. They've all got deals now. Mate, come on. You need to get off it. But, and it's not even that we just beat them. Like we did against Penrith back in round two. Like we fucking blew them up. That was just on, mate. It was pretty crazy to see. And the Sharks, mate, just took it a bit too easy. KO, Iroh had a game.
Other than that, they were rubbish. What about fucking, did you see Marky Marks? In and away. In and away on Iroh? Boos. Iroh's a solid defender too, so to do that is ridiculous. And then, end of the round, we had an absolute cracking of a game. It was a bit wild, a bit fiery, but it was the Raiders. They just keep getting the damn job done, making the Warriors lose their first game over New Zealand, winning 16-10. And, yeah, it's a wild game. Sinbin's everywhere, fucking in and out.
Can I just say, I called that too. Horsburgh getting Sinbin. Yeah? Yeah. I need to listen to it back, but I'm pretty sure I did say, with Debra missing out on Origin, he's going to be a little fired up and he's going to end up in the bin. I think he maybe did say that. No, he didn't get Simba in the way I thought he would Didn't cost him the game, they still got the win So, I'll take that in, So, yes, that was round 12 of the Rugby League. And like I said, all the outsiders, the ladder is crazy.
Like I said, Penrith are dead last on nine points, but the Broncos who are on 12th, I mean, Broncos who are coming eighth in the finals are on 12 points. It's wild. Crazy. Do you want to know how you guys went for the week? Red hot. Well, I know I did not get one tip. And you didn't get a line either. So you did well there. So you're 0-0. You did hit Dylan Lucas as a trial scorer, but. So you got two points. I think I get six points because he scored three tries.
Well, then I'd get six points because I had Dylan Lucas as well. Oh, that's right. You copied me. So do I get six points? No. Yeah, that's what I thought, dickhead. So you finished with a total of two points. That was your only selection crash for the week. Damn, I've been going all right and back down to it. And then good old Cody, he got one head-to-head. He picked, who did he get? Oh, he got the Dolphins. No. Yes, he did. He got the Dolphins. There we go. Firm over the doggies,
man. Yep. And he picked Herbie Farnworth. So he got full points on game one. He got three points. He finished the week with four. So not too good after that. Myself, on the other hand, I won the week. I got seven. I got one point on head-to-head. I got three on the line and three points for any time trial scorers. I got Isaiah Ongi and Dylan Lucas. So I only got two, but I don't feel like that's that bad of a gap there.
It's not great, obviously, but. So overall, so I finally plugged in old Cody stats. I couldn't give him any of the line bets because I didn't know what the lines were. So he didn't get those, but gave him his tips, gave him his try scorers. So he is back in first on 131. I'm second on 128. And then Carter, you are last on 113. You've dropped well back. No, no, you were real close there for a bit. I was really far away. I got a bit closer.
It's all right. I'll take that. So just to break it down, Cody is winning on head-to-head tips, 44. I'm 43. Jake, you're 41. Not right. Obviously not. Can't be right. I've been you on tipping comp. Yeah, because you keep changing your tips in the fucking tipping comp, mate. I do one of the two. And then on the lines, Cody's winning that as well. He's got 44. I've got 36. And you've got 35. But yeah, any time trial scorers, I've got 49, Cody 43, and you've got 37.
I got 47 head-to-head tips in my tipping comp. Now you're saying I got 41 in my career, mate. That's a big difference. Oh, no, no. Remember that was one full week where we didn't get tips in. Oh, yeah, that's right. Oh, I thought we still got our tips, though. I thought we were still doing tips. Oh, no, sorry. I did need to double-check. I did give you the tips, but there was two games I didn't know where you tipped or who you tipped.
Three games. I got them right. I got all them right. Dolphins versus Warriors. Yeah. This was two weeks ago. I'm not saying that. Because I couldn't see your tips on ESPN. You just don't know how to look for it. I can see my previous tips. I can't see yours. Tell me afterwards. Round 11? Let's just keep going, yeah. I got it right. I tip Warriors. Anyway, okay, you're right. Well, then who else did you? Oh, you just said not. They said do it later. Were you there? So Cowboys to the Eagles?
I tip Cowboys lost. Right. And the last one was Tigers-Rabbitos. I tip Rabbitos. Got to win. Right. Okay.
¶ Tipping and Predictions
I'll just confirm all your other ones. You went Knights, Bulldogs, Warriors, Cowboys, Storm, Broncos, Raiders, Rabbits. Yeah, see, I knew I had the other ones, right? I got four that one. So, apologies, you are now tied with me on 43. It's four, fucking whatever. Changed four tips. Yeah, maybe. So, that brings up to 115. So, well done. You're only 13 behind me and 16 behind Cody.
Anyway, on to this week This week? Quick little question because I don't even have asked you Yeah What's Lockie Galvin and the Bulldogs doing, mate? Do you like the play?
Makes no sense to me It makes as much sense as the Roosters going after DCE, I'm telling you right now I think that Lockie Galvin makes a lot more sense than DCE Yes, it makes I wouldn't say it makes a lot more sense He's 19 and maybe it doesn't fit him right now To be honest, neither of them are a 7 So neither him or Burden are a 7 They lose a genuine 7 in Sexton Who's played fucking unreal for them. So I don't know what their plan is, whether they're going to move.
Because, like I said from the start, they cannot win a premiership with this spine. They need a fucking better player. Lockheed Govan is better than Tommy Sexton by a long way. Not at managing a game. He's 19, mate. He can become that, I think. He's a 5'8". Mate, you and your fixed things, players become halfbacks when they're fucking still a kid. You're wrong. Okay. Clearly, you are a Knights fan that thinks Dylan Brown's a halfback. No, it's nothing that it is, mate.
You're just like, if they're not a halfback when they're fucking born, they can never be a halfback. Mate, that's how you sound when it comes to halfback chat. If you've not really played halfback, if you've not had to lead a team around, like if he'd played halfback in juniors and coming up through these, he's gone to 5'8", then yeah, all right, maybe. He might have. You don't know. He's not a halfback. He can be a halfback, that. He's that fucking talented
and good. Okay. A lot of people said that about Matty Burden, too. How did he go at halfback? Not that great. Yeah. How's Dylan Brown going to halfback? I don't think neither of those two guys are as confident or as, you know. Oh, look, I'm happy to be proven wrong. I just don't think it's going to work, and I think it's a silly move by the dogs. But then you, the Roosters, are getting a genuine halfback, and you don't like the play.
No, because we've got a genuine halfback already, and Sam Walker, he's just injured. And then Hugo Savala is showing that he's a fantastic young seven, an actual young seven, and then you've got Sam and Smith We're going to the Cowboys. At 5.8, so he's fucking killing it this year, like I said he would. And then they're going to bring in fucking DCE. I hope they backflip. There's a lot of talks that the Roosters are actually going to backflip on the
DCE deal. There's no deal yet, so I don't know what they're backflip. I'm pretty sure it's already been done. It just hasn't been televised yet. The day that it gets announced that we've signed DCE, I'm going to be in a very bad mood for a long time. Yeah, but you were when Cooper Cronk signed it, then you won fucking two chips. No. You changed the tune. No, I didn't like the Cooper Cronk signing because I didn't like Cooper Cronk because he was at the Storm.
But we needed a halfback at that stage, and it worked for Luke Keery. But at this time, I'd rather just invest in our future and not get DCE for one or two years. Makes no fucking sense. Especially if we lose Santa, I'm going to be fucking mad. If we lose Hugo, I'm going to be mad. You can't keep him all, mate. We can. You can't. We can if we don't get DCE. I genuinely think if you kept Hugo and Santa Smith, you could.
And you got Sam Walker. You can't keep him all, mate. Hugo's still very young. Can't keep him all, mate. Given Sam Walker's injuries, his history with injury. If Hugo's our backup halfback. He doesn't want to be backup halfback. He's fucking good enough to be in a team, mate. He's also fucking 20. So he's just got to wait his time. Sam Walker had to wait his time. The only reason why Sam Walker came through earlier than what he did was because of injuries. Hugo's 23, mate.
Oh, okay. Bit older than you think. Oh, he's older than Sandon. You just want them all to just stay and relax. It's just typical roosters. Typical roosters. Sandon's 22, mate. Typical roosters. He wants to keep them all even though they're not even going to play. Just don't go anywhere else. We want you here. They will play. Then we want you here. Oh, you're not good anymore. Get rid of her. Roosters. Okay, so would you risk losing both young players just to get DCE for one or two years?
And then have nothing to fall back on after those two years. I hope that you can pick someone up in free agency. I think- When the Bears are coming in and trying to sign people too. I think at DCE, Sandon Smith at 14 for one, two years, perfect. Sandon isn't staying. If we sign DCE, he's gone. Why? There's still a spot for him in the team at least. He wants to be a half. And he rightly should be a half. He'll be a half in two years. He's already had to wait.
Because Luke Keery was still there. Who should have retired fucking three years ago. So you know you don't want him to wait. Yeah. Huh? You're telling Hugo to wait, but you don't think, you're not asking Sandon to wait? Well, Hugo will have to wait because Sammy Walker's there. Hugo's older. Yeah, but Sandon's a 5'8", Hugo's a half. Oh, typical Roosters. You're a fuck, you just don't understand footy. You just don't understand. Can we just get onto this week? You can't have what you want.
Can't have your cake and eat it too, mate. I fucking will. Look at me. Well, that was a little bit of transfer talk. And also. So what? A little transfer talk here. Yeah. We need the space for Caelan Ponga. You're not going, Roosters. He ain't staying at the fucking nights. Going somewhere, I reckon. All Blacks. Hate it. New Zealand. I hate it. I wouldn't mind seeing him go to the Warriors. Warriors don't need him. Yeah, fuck Charnsey off. He's going somewhere else.
Anyway, did you want to get into this week? Yeah, I feel like we could talk.
¶ Origin Weekend Preview
I'm missing something. But yeah, let's get to round 13 of the Rugby League. Quick little hashtag. Origin is on. A lot of these games could be impacted by injuries or players pulling out due to Origin, but we'll get a rip-in. Nearly every Origin player has been named to play and back up, which is fair. And I do think most players will if they can because that ladder, every team still needs wins, bank and wins, and a lot of good players take Origin, obviously.
Over the last four years, you could almost guarantee that any Panthers players would not back up, but they have to this year. Yeah, especially this round. It's only one Origin game in, it's early. The only team we heart for would be Dragons and Newcastle. It's like two days after the origin. Yeah, they've got no players. It's only Val Holmes, really, and Ponga. Yeah, so they don't do much. They'll just have tackling practice all night. I hope so. That'd be good.
But I just feel like it's usually HIA. Someone's going to get knocked out. Someone's going to miss out. Can I just, I want to ask you, Carter, given how well Fletcher Sharp played at fullback. Oh, gosh, here we go. Easy riddles. No riddles.
Would you still have Ponga as your starting fullback yes even though Fletcher he's got 1.2 million captain you're just not gonna put him on the bench no there's talk that they shift him back because that fucking does well fuck me dead, no but do you move would you move him on no part ways with him because he hasn't done anything he's taken up a lot of your space no to get you to 8th no get you knocked out of the first round no call him Joel Embiid no Right, okay.
So you don't like Fletcher Sharp as your fullback? He's fine, but Pongo's much better. He's clearly shown that over a period of time. Not this season. They've got the same amount of wins, one each. Pongo's won more games at fullback than him. Fletcher Sharp's one from one, he's 100%. Hey, hey, hey, hey. That's not what I said. You ought to go at strike rate. No, you don't. Yeah. No, you don't. Not in fucking rubber leg. Anyway, can we get to this week?
Because Fletcher Sharp's been playing in nearly every game as well. Maybe not a fullback, but he's been playing. If it was that fucking good, we'd win. Yeah, mate, you can't turn custard into cream, all right? Why would you, though? Custard's better than cream. I don't know. I fully agree, but that's the same. I've never heard that one, mate. That's the same. No, it's not. Okay, you can't turn cream into custard. Yeah, I like that. It's better. It sounds wrong, but it's right.
Because custard is better. You're right. Well, yes, let's get to it. And Poma is custard. You're a fucking ass. Cust hard. Rubber League. We got the Mighty Dragons off the bye. up against the Newcastle Knights. We're going to Nextra Jubilee in Sydney, so that's not bad. I don't mind that as much as Wollongong, so I feel we have a chance to win there. Our team's pretty much back in. Adam Elliott's gone, injured. Leo Thompson has been named for Newcastle. That helps. Still no Bradman Best.
Still no Greg Marzu, so we're a bit weak on the outside. Christian Tupolotti back in for the Dragons, so that's a big in. He's a gun. Where you going, mate? Oh, I'm tipping Newcastle because it's... Well, you didn't back them last week. Yeah, because at that point I was like, yeah, we fucking suck. And then we won. So, you know, maybe I should have tipped them. You're right. But they'll give me this little bit of hope that we don't absolutely suck and we'll probably get pumped this week.
As I predicted, Pong is going to have a fucking red-hot game for Queensland. And who knows? He might bring it back for Newcastle and just give us a little bit of a ramp up. And no, he's not going to start at 5-8. He'll play 5-8. But who knows? Him and Fletch Sharp might swap throughout the game. It might work out well. But he's going to be wearing the number one jersey because he is our captain. If he makes it through origin. Yes, if he doesn't get knocked out, sorted. But he's not really swole,
so he won't get fucking shoulder-charged. No, so while he's not playing. Yeah, so he's safe there. So, yeah, I'm going Newcastle Knights to win. The line is at four and a half in favor of the Dragons. So you're obviously taking the Knights with the line. Yes, sir. Who's your try scorer, bud? I'm bringing him in the Supercase, a little pod play, a little cheapy. So I'm going to go the young Kyle McCarthy to get one. Mate, great name.
McCarthy, yeah, sounds right. Very English. Double C. I don't like the little C to the big C. McCarthy, you know. No, I was meaning Kyle. Oh.
¶ Transfer Talk and Player Movements
Dickhead. Oh, shout out. Shout out to Kyle. Winner of season, 48 of Survivor. Red hot. Great season. It was a tough season. This is a good bloke. But I, yeah. Fuck, I wish it was you. We'll have a million dollars. We will not be here right now. Yeah, no, I'd go into hiding. Oh. I'd give you a little bit of money. Anyway, how are you looking, mate? Where are you fighting? You on the Knights, mate, or? Fuck no, I'm not. Caleb Ponga's back.
It's actually quite the reverse. Usually for most teams, you normally say, no Ponga, no Knights. But in this case, it's Ponga, no Knights. One game without him. Against the second-rated Panthers team, and you know. Jeez Louise. So I'm going Dragons, Dragons. I think they're fresh off the bye. Christian Tua Pallotto is a big in for them, I think. I think he provides a lot coming out of the back. Not a bad finisher as well. Trade him at Supercoach, but, oh, tempted.
I already had him, and he was so good. I was going to hold him because he was a gun. Not many people had him, and then he got fucking injured. And I also think he's going to score a try. Don't tell me that. Yeah. So, obviously, we don't know where Cody's going. He hasn't sent through his picks. Oh, Cody, one job. Yeah, no, he's too busy working, mate. So, I've got the same gamer for this one. And I'm really backing in Christian Tua Pallotta here.
I've taken him to score first, second, or third. I reckon he's going to score one early. And I reckon there's a good matchup for the rookie for the Knights in Fletcher Hunt marked up. He'll be up against Terrell Sloan on the left. Terrell's on the right, Fletcher's on the left for the Knights. I reckon that's a good matchup and I reckon he's going to score his first try of his career. So just those two, just give me that. Tua Pilato, first, second or third, paired up with Fletcher Hunt.
$8.25. Don't like it. Which one do you like? Fletcher Hunt, man. And good mullet, good kid, but he hasn't shown me that he can play top grey rugby league yet. Yeah, but if Ponga, if your vision of Ponga coming back in from Queensland's good, that opens up that left-hand side. Dylan Lucas is going to attract a lot of attention after last week. Well, actually, just his season that he's putting together. But last week really emphasised how good of a season he's having.
So that's going to draw defenders in. It's going to leave that, if they can create that overlap, Fletcher Hunt could find himself a try on the corner. And Terrell Sloan, not the best defender. Has improved, but not the best. So, I think it's a good matchup. That's where I'm going. And at $2.50, I think that's red hot. $2.50 for left winger? Yep. Oh, that is very good. Yep. Anyway. Get around that. Beautiful. Let's get to Saturday. Only the one game on Friday because we've got Origin tonight.
Women's Origin tomorrow night. New South Wales going for the fucking blue wash.
¶ Super Saturday Matches
Oh, nice. That means I've got more money coming this week. Red hot. Extra payday. Okay. Oh, let's get to Saturday. We've got a beautiful Super Saturday. Three games, back to full regime, and it starts off in the sunny Gold Coast. Well, hopefully it's sunny. Hopefully the rain fucks off. It's the Gold Coast Titans up against the Melbourne Storm. Tell you what, it's going to be fucking pouring in Gold Coast. Right? There's only one way.
Pouring, pouring. This is a danger game. Melbourne absolutely love a day game. They're running hot in the day games. It's a dry track, close the gates. Both back. I honestly think that the Titans would probably put some points on Melbourne. Mm-hmm. Both off-buys. Both have named all their origin players to back up, so there's going to be a big watch of this game. Do you reckon? I feel like they will play. Maybe Kieran Munster.
I don't think they need to play him, but this game. I really don't want to hear that, because for Supercoach. I want him not to play, because a lot of people have him, but I don't have him. Yeah, my backup 5'8's fucking Matt Burden is on a buy, so I won't have a fucking 5'8 if he doesn't play. So, yes. Yes. Gold Coast, I feel like they're doing funny things. AJ Brimson played fullback last game, and they played really well. I don't think their supporters are laughing.
No. They'd be fucking annoyed if Desley has doing his tricks, mate. But we'll see what happens. How are you seeing this game? I think it's all purple. Yeah. What's the line there, mate? 11 and a half. Yeah. It's pretty big. Yeah, I still don't think it's enough. Yeah. I think they're going to do a couple of switches. I reckon Harry Grant might come off the bench. Question mark over whether Munster plays or not. But, yeah, fresh. The rest of their players fresh off the bye.
Same with the Titans, but the Titans' defense is average. They can score the points, but the Storm aren't letting too many points in of late. So I still think it's going to be a high-scoring affair, but Storm, Storm. And I don't really know who I'm going to go for a try-scorer here. But I reckon, fuck it, no, I won't. I'll just go. So I'll play safe and I'm going to go Ryan Pappenhausen.
Well, I think the only way Gold Coast can match it, because you look at their team, the Gold Coast forward pack is probably, you know, better on paper or it's pretty even. So they would need to have a big game, but three of these five are coming back from origin. So I just don't know if they're going to have the petrol, the fuel and yeah. Or the hunger. But Melbourne Storm, they had a pretty bad loss last game. Did they lose or? Well, they lost to the Sharkies. Yes, they lost to the Sharks.
So they just don't lose two games in a row. Off the bye. They're going to be ripping and tearing. Storm to win. Storm to cover the line. And Jerome Hughes is going to score another try. Is that because you brought him in? No, I'm not doing it. But I've heard some people are going to do it. I don't think I've got the trades to do it. But people are going, Nico Hines to Jerome Hughes this week. And then in two weeks' time, they're going to go Cleary back to Nico Hines. I'm like, oh.
I don't hate it. I looked at Jerome Hughes because he's value and they've got a decent schedule. But the problem is I've got Munster. So it makes no sense to have Munster and Hughes. What a double play. It's good, especially with our big games, mate. Yeah, but they don't both always go off. You're Pappy 1002? Yeah. I've got the VC on Pappy this week. Yeah, me too. VC and the Captain Drinky. I've Captain Cleary. Against Parramatta. Anyway. I like how none of us are going to serve Terrell
May. Safe play. That's boring. That's probably Cody. Yeah, he would too. Me, me, me, me, me, me. That's probably a good play. Speaking of Cody, this is his same gamer. Did he get it to you? No. No. So just moving on. Fuck me. He'll be on the feed. He'll send it through, I hope. We'll have to remind him again tomorrow. At least when we remind him tomorrow and he gets it to us, we'll actually have our zines. That's not as bad as last time.
Tell you what, if he loses this comp this season, he got a free week on us. Oh. Well, not really. He just got tris scores. You didn't get the lines on him. He just got tris scores, yeah. Saturday afternoon, 5.30, we're going up to Townsville. We get the North Queensland Cowboys up against the West Tigers. Very interesting game. I like this one. It's going to be a little bit tricky to pick. And that's mainly just for me. It's the Cowboys. They're looking so good and
then they just don't show up. It's really fucking noisier. Especially if you have Drinkwater to score. It'll win you a lot of money. But anyway, again, all the Origin players have been named to back up for the Cowboys. Lockie Galvin is gone. Looks like he's played his last game for the Mighty West Tigers. Unlucky. But you don't want someone there who doesn't want to be there. How do we look at this game? I've got to go... I'm not sure. Kyle?
Yeah, this is a tough one, man. The only thing that's a lock for me is the Tigers with the line. It's nine and a half points. That's too much to give the Cowboys, I believe. I know it's in North Queensland, but they looked pretty fucking shit without Clifford in attack. Scotty Drinkbloke had his worst game for a long time. And I just think they're going to take, with dropping Clifford, who is an actual halfback. Yeah, Coach just must not like him. He's done it again.
I don't know what it is. And basically told him he's playing Reggies for the rest of the season. It's wild. But Cowboys are still tough to beat in North Queensland. So I'm leaning towards taking the Cowboys. And given my track history with tipping this season, like I know tipping's not been easy for anyone, but I'm doing a lot worse than the average. So that would incline people to take the Tigers here. So give me Cowboys. I'll take the Tigers. And to be honest, it's an absolute
fucking lottery for the try scorers here. But give me the dream. Dream Buller. Beautiful. I sort of think the same about the line. I was looking at it. But with the Cowboys, they start winning. They start rolling, I think. So I think the Cowboys will just kick on a bit and they will cover the line and get the win. And they did have a down game in town until the last against Manly. So I don't think it's going to happen again. Give me the Cowboys, Cowboys to cover.
Yeah, the Tigers are doing better, but I just don't think they can hold on. I think they might just be, like, I feel like it's going to go one of two ways here. Oh, really? No, no, no. Like, I feel like, actually, I'm changing my tip. I'm taking the Tigers. Whoa. Let's pull the trigger. I feel like the Cowboys are either going to beat them.
I think it's either going to be Cowboys, Cowboys, or Tigers, Tigers here because with the whole Galvin thing, it's either going to distract them and they're going to play like shit or it's freed them and they're going to play inspired footy. I disagree. Disagree. I just think the Tigers play all right, but the Cowboys are playing much better. And I'm going to go young Jackson Paula to score on his club debut for the Cowboys.
He's got some nice real estate there in the left wing, take over Murray to lug his spot. And yeah, he's going to roll over. Is this your same game, mate? It is my same gamer. And I do like, I don't know if I like it, but I have Dream Buller to score any time, my same gamer. I just feel like he's on. And I already forgot what I did. And I only did it a little while ago. You went to Butt. Oh, yes. I went my boy, Zach Laybutt to score.
An old Robert. And Robert Derby to score first, second or third. Because I feel like Calvary's going to score some points. And he'd love to try on the right. But I went my guy and left. You know, fingers in the pies. It doesn't work for me. If we get Jackson Polo, a lot of real estate on the left. I'm going to take Derby first, second, or third, thanks. Both everyone's do like to score, though. Come on. But, yeah, Robert Derby first, second, or third. That kind of is their job.
Zach Laybart and Jareem Buller. Don't mind it. 26.50 for those three-leggers. I struggle with a first, second, or third, but I like it. See, it's always, I feel like it's a curse, because it's like if you hit that first, second, or third, one of both of your any timers don't hit. But if you have a first, second, or third, and they score like the fourth or fifth try, then you're two any times here as well. It's so fucking annoying.
Anyway, onwards and upwards. Beautiful. Let's get to it. Friday night. This is probably Saturday night. I'm not going to say the match of the round, but I think this match- It has potential. It has potential.
It has two teams playing for a lot. I'm not going to say this season yet, because it's still really early, but probably the two biggest teams that are disappointing, other than Panthers, obviously, that are like playing shit when they should be playing much better with their team and their rosters. And they've even showed glimpses of it through the year that they can be a top four team, but then they've just played so bad. I'm pretty sure we all had Broncos top four in our preseason.
And I'm pretty sure you had Manly top four. And they're not even close and not even looking like they're close. But yes, we are Manly up against Broncos at Mighty Brookvale Oval. Origin player has been named to play. Payne Haas, I doubt he's going to. I hope he plays. I don't think he. I would be surprised. But he was nearly out of Origin, and now he's going to play. I'm quite surprised Broncos are favorites here. Two and a half point favorites. I think it's just how bad Manly have been looking.
And Tommy Turbo's out, but I don't. To be honest, I think the Seagulls are looking better without him, because he is hampered. Like, you can see that. Because when he's there, you've got to play for him and give him the ball and give him, but if he's not playing 100%, maybe it's not helping. No, it's not. And a fully fit Tommy Turbo is possibly the best player in the league. He's not fully fit, and he's not been fully fit for basically this entire season.
CC's been named a return after Origin. He's the oldest player in Origin, so it'll be interesting to see if he backs up. As long as he doesn't pull his calf tonight, I'll run him out. He's usually fit as an old player, I would say. It should be a cracker game. They've put Jesse Arthur as a fullback and put Cobb on the wing. Interesting play. I thought Cobb has been playing all right.
Maybe it is a risk that he hurt last game, that he's still not 100%, so they're like, we'll just check in the wing. But Ezra Mann backing for his second game looked very good this first game, so it'll be interesting to watch. See, I just think the Broncos, with having Payne Haas backing up, Paddy Carrigan backing up, There are two motors in the middle that, honestly, I think if you take them out of the team, Broncos go backwards.
They're not going to run over too many forward packs without those two. Payne Haas, question mark, I highly doubt he's going to actually back up. Paddy Carrigan will probably back up, but you're not probably going to get what you want out of him coming out of Origin. I think they need a win, though, so I think maybe they both will back up, but maybe only play 40 to 50 minutes. I wouldn't be surprised if they both come off the bench, to be honest.
Let the sting come out of the game first and then inject them in when it's a bit easier. But give me, I'm taking Seagulls, Seagulls, Seagulls here, Brookie. I'll take the points on offer at Brookie. Yeah. I got no, I really don't, like, either way, I'm going to be like, the other team sucks and it's going to be great. And I really don't know who's going to win. That's what I'm saying. But one of these teams is going to stand up this game, but I don't know which
one it's going to be. But, yeah, give me merely the points at home. And Lehigh's awesome at fullback. He plays well. And I think it means they've got a bit left and right. And they haven't been going right enough lately. Garrick's not getting the ball early enough. Jason Saab, yeah. Oli Kowadu needs to have a good day. Oli Kowadu's looking like a shell of himself since the start of the year.
I tell you what, if Oli Kowadu finds what he's doing or what he was doing at the start of the season, they get that ball. Their movement right's going to be a little bit better now that DCE will be back. Better than last week, at least, anyway. They look shit going right. It's interesting that you were talking about it, but I think, The Broncos will win and win well if Carrigan and Haas dominate, which they can do, but they're coming off average. Yeah.
It's going to be interesting. It's a big ask. There's even been times this season where Carrigan and Haas have dominated for the Broncos in the middle and they've still lost. There's not much more that those two could have done. But just look at that forward pack. They can dominate if they play. But the Seagulls forward pack, although don't match the Broncos, a limping Broncos forward pack, they can match that, even without J.K.T. So, who was your try scorer?
I didn't say one, to be honest. Mine's Ruben Garrick. Please let him score. He's been fucking average in all origin, in supercoach. Give me, I'm going to go some point chaser. I'm going to go, is Remanda score again? Says the bloke who doesn't like taking blokes who scored the week before. No. But I'm not putting money on it, so, you know, give me the points.
He looked real quick and fast. I think he might be playing. He's playing to prove himself and, you know, getting some people's good books again. Don't know if that'll ever happen, but, you know, he's trying. Could be a sneaky play in Supercoach. Who knows? I don't think so, but if he had another big game. Look, I've got the same game here, and look, I've just kept a nice and simple for this game. Boring. Yeah.
Mate, I need a win. I can't hit shit at the moment. I wouldn't hit water if I fell out of a boat in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. So I'm just taking Reuben Garrick any time. That's not safe. And Selwyn Cobbo. That's it. That's my two legs. Garrick and Cobbo. Anytime. $5.75 for those two. Hey? Oh, were you not listening? Yeah, we are. That's a big bet. What is it? What did you just say? What bet did I just put on? Garrick.
Someone else. That was it. What were the odds I got? $5 something. I heard that. Garrick and Cobbo, anytime, $5.75. Thank you. Beautiful. Let's get to Sunday, baby. We've got three games on Sunday. I love a three-game Sunday, even though I'm playing cricket all day, but I do love it.
¶ Sunday Showdowns
It starts off in a core ANZ Stadium. We've got the Rabideaus up against the Warriors coming off a loss, but they are still top four, looking good this season. Up against the Rabdow, still in six positions somehow, but like I said, it's very close in that spot. I don't know. I think Rabdow, since they've changed with Keon and Jai Arrow in the middle, they're looking so much better.
It just works so much better. They've got the two best forwards playing as front row forwards, which is just such an important position in the league these days. Warriors, James Fisher-Harris is back, so it's a big back. Mitchell Barnett. He's a forward, actually. Mitchell Barnett will surely back up. He doesn't have to fly back to New Zealand, so it's even better. I think the Warriors are a real deal, so give me the Warriors to win. I have to agree with you on that.
I think the Raptors are playing well. They're out doing what I think they would be doing, and they've got a lot of injuries, but the Warriors are just a better team this year. Trel Mitt's going to have to back it up. I know there's a little bit of worry about the Warriors playing in Sydney, but fuck it. Nah, they're playing too good. I think they're a different team.
They've turned the tables. I think Andrew Webster has to be in the shout for Coach of the Year already, hey, for what he's done with the Warriors this year after coming back after last year. Yeah, so I'm going Warriors, Warriors, and I've gone a sneaky little... So I've gone pretty safe with me try scores so far. I've gone all backs, just one-pointers. I'm fucking ramping it up here. Give me big old key on.
Ooh, yes, please. I reckon Keon's going to crash through the middle, and it's more just a hope for me, Supercoach, because I just brought him in. So give me, yeah, Keon Kulamatangi. There you go. Luke Metcalf to score a try. Another half. Fucking fast boy, hot boy. Slay him well. Love to try. I do need him to score me some points on Supercoach this week. Oh, you still got him. Yeah. I'm going to get rid of him, so if he can at least get close to...
Not lose too much money, because he is on... His break-even's 81. Yeah. So he needs to get close to that for me. So Luke Metcalf. I believe this is Cody's game. What have you got there, Kyle? Cody? Oh, wait. Oh, here we go. Actually, I reckon I know what he's going to pick here. I reckon he's going to go Ewan Aiken anytime. Yep. Into Alex Johnston anytime. Warriors 30+. And Warriors to win. Hey, I don't hate it. Either do I, actually. Onwards and upwards. Onwards and upwards. Sunday, Arby.
What a game here. Fucking, might as well call these guys the Broncos. At home, the away team. The ladder positions don't show this, but this game should be red hot. It's the Battle of the West. We've got the Penrith Panthers up against Paramount Eels, the rivals, the West rivals. This was a grand final, what, two years ago? Wild, I think. Was it two or three? Yeah. Four. Definitely not four. Oh, they beat the Storm. They lost to the Storm. They beat... The Rabbitohs.
Rabbitohs beat the Eels, beat the Broncos, beat the Storm. So yeah, three years ago. But still, grand final, only three years ago now. Look at them. Shit. Panthers, they've named all their players that back up. They just have to. Scotty Sorison's back in, which is a big in off his stupid suspension back in, red hot. They do lose Liam Henry. Fucking good crush tackle that bloke. We've forgot our tackle lately, mate. For Rabbiter, Eels, Zach Lomax, Moses named, and Will Panasini out. H-I-A.
¶ Panthers vs Eels
I lost a lot of tips and I'm going to sound like a broken record, but give me Panthruth, Panthruth to win well because fuck me. It's a law of averages, brother. They're still a good team, man. I know they've, they've missed, they've got a lot of young blokes who are just not playing as good as well, but they're still so good on paper. I still love their team and they've still got fucking Nathan Cleary as I, you know, Dylan Edwards. It's a solid spine, eh? Yeah, man.
But I think, all at Origin Camp this week, I think that's going to help him get around some fucking winning attitude, winning blows. Just remember, oh yeah, we are fucking good. Who's your try scorer, mate? And they've got to start getting desperate, surely. Try scorer, I'm just vibing him back off his suspension, Scotty Sirenton, mate. I'm fucking liking him a lot and he's like $5.25 a sports bet. I just like him. I just think they're going to go left all night,
Yeah, right, okay. Well, I'm with you, Panthers, Panthers. I just, the line's four and a half here. That's it. I think it's going to be close. Look, the Eels look all right when they've got Lomax and Moses. They looked all right last week. Joash Papali off the bench looked all right. Zayongi had himself a fucking game against Manly. But I reckon Panthers will just, they've got to start flexing some muscle at
some point. And I think coming into this week, being on the bottom of the ladder is going to sting them a little bit. And especially, as you said, a few of those boys coming back in from the origin camp, even if it's a loss, there's going to be a bit of a winning culture in there. So try and bring it back. How can he just kind of ride the wave? Give me Nathan Cleary, mate. If someone's going to turn this season around for him, it'll be the Crimson
Chin. It's got to start. So give me Nathan Cleary for two points. And I believe this is yours, Carter. For the same gamer? Yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. You're right. Yeah, it was actually. And like I said, I think they're going to go left a lot. I do like Scotty Sorensen, but I don't think I went him just because I want to try to win. I did. Okay, I did. I didn't go him in my big bar because I didn't want to go that. That's right. You didn't want to triple dip. Yes.
But I've gone Scotty Sorensen anytime. Case McLean anytime. So they're going left. And my third leg was, I did go Josh Adekar just to score, I think. he's on. He hasn't had a great couple of last games but he's been playing much better and they'll go left a bit too. How hard was it for not saying? You almost did when he said he's on. Because we didn't say it last week and it didn't fucking matter. Yeah, we had a fucking terrible time. So fuck it.
The Fox is due, baby. He is due. He is on. To be fair though, last week on the punt, so we had the five games. Two out of the five, we went two from three. I have some ticks. There's no wins. Ola Kowatu cost us big time. And Britain and Okora. We missed on him. Our two boys. The two big bucks. The two big bucks were in the vets and they lost us. Just a quick shout out though for last week though. Tommy Starling, great call from you, Carter. I told you.
He's my boy. I tell you what, if CHT had a scored not long after Tommy Starling. He got close to you there. Yeah. And then I was like, if it's all on DWZ and we fucking lose on DWZ. I'm going mad. As soon as he scored, just the game how I was like, I'm not going to get three try scores in this game. But when Tommy Starling got over, I was like, sweet.
And then Charnsey went really close I was like fuck I don't sort of want him to score because then no no no you didn't have Charnsey CHT Harris Tevita yeah I didn't really want him to score because I'm like if fucking the $2 $1.90 leg fails it would piss me off always away, Tommy Starling you should have just had him by himself he's paying $7.80 Case McLean Scotty Sorensen and Josh Odecair which I like, $28.75 that bad boy Scotty Sorensen pumps that up because I don't think he's
scored in a long time but I just feel like he's back, going to go left a lot. Mate, I was, to be honest, I want to shit on you for the Scotty Sorensen call, but I can't really after the Tom Starling play last week. He made some ordinary calls this season. I think Tommy Scarlins scored more tries. Scotty Soros. No, I think Tommy had only scored one going into this season or going into that game last week. He loves a try. Maybe he did score a couple earlier in the season. Anyway, last game.
Last game. Game of the round. I think it could be. But I've got... I don't know if I can trust the Roosters yet. What do you mean? They show up when I don't expect them to show up. And the games when I'm like, oh, this should be a good game. If games are 60 minutes long. They don't show up. If games are 60 minutes long, we're on top of the fucking table. Oh, here we go. We've lost one game, which was round one. At the end of 60 minutes, we're generally in front.
It's just we fall away in the last 20. Did you hear the stat last? Was it last week or the week before that I told you? Maybe. In the first 60 minutes, we're plus 36 in points differential. In the last 20 minutes, we're negative 80.
It's fucking ridiculous. Well, yes, we have the Roosters up against the number two on the ladder, know the Raiders, it should be a fucking red hot game, everyone's been named a backup for Oregon, it'll be the last game of the round, you think most of them will, unless any big injuries, so, Raiders get a bit ouchy, with Tom Starling being rubbed out due to suspension, which really sucks for them, they do have Paddy, Owen Paddy coming in, who's a good young player.
Yeah, like I said, I want this to be, I want, I just, Roost, man, when they, when they have a big game, they seem not to fucking play well, or they just lose it out of nowhere. Like, against Bulldogs, they're fucking going well. I forgot how to play. But the Roosters have been looking really good last few weeks. They've got some good wins. But I'm tipping the Raiders. I'm just going to keep going, man.
They're top four for a reason, the Raiders and the Warriors, and I think they're just going to keep showing that they are the real deal and playing well. Raiders are only one and a half point favorites. I don't like that either for some reason. It is at Allianz. It's not in Canberra, but... The Raiders, the Raiders. Who's scoring, bud? Ricky Stewart loves coaching up against the Roosters these days. I can't pick a Raiders. Roosters, Raider.
Oh, Tommy Starr, he's not playing. I can't go on. Oh, give me Huddy Young, baby. Huddy Young back in. He's scoring. It's the safest two points a year, mate. It's not. Not this week, mate. Look, I was picking a Roosters upset last week, and then you told me Nafu White was out, which was enough for me to change it. Wow. Ouch. Because without all of our origin players and without Nafu, I was like, at least we've got Nafu there that can keep us going forward.
And when he told me he was out, I was like, maybe not. But I'm riding the upset again this week. Give me the Roosters. Roosters to cover the one and a half points. Looking red hot. I don't see if they're going to disappoint you. Though, I just have this feeling, and I don't know what it is, he fucking got real aggressive last week, which I fucking thought was red hot. And I just, the Roosters love conceding a try through the fucking middle. Give me Joe Tappany, anytime.
I'm probably going to have a sneaky play on this myself at $8.50. Holy damn. We conceded to McInnes under the post. We do concede a try under the sticks or around the middle of the park quite often. So give me Joe Tapps. I reckon that's a shout. So I do have the same game. Joe Tappany is not in my same gamer. Why we brought him up, I don't know if we've been in touch this year. But how shit, eh? Last year, me and Cody went one-on-one. Tappany versus fucking Pupply Tri-scorers.
Tappany scored none last year. He's already scored two this year in ten games. And he's going to score again and make it three. It's just dumb. Last year. It's because you're a hex, bro. I was a hex on him last year. Anyway, same gamer. Now, I just have... I think they're going to go right here, the Raiders. Because Hugo Savala's defense on the right-hand side with Toya's going to be back, Marky Mark on the wing, I feel like our defense on the right side is a lot stronger.
I think they're going to go left and exploit Sandin, right? And I just have this feeling Tomoko's going to get across. Give me Tomoko, give me Xavier Savage any time on the right, but I think a good matchup for the Roosters is Marky Mark against young Tamala. No, they're both right. Tomoko plays right. Is that what you're saying? Yes, I think they're going to go right. Okay. And attack the left edge of the Roosters and exploit Sandin.
But I think Marky Mark's got a fucking great matchup against the young Tomale. I reckon he can outdo him. So give me Marky Mark, Xavier Savage, and Tomoko any time. But Roosters will win. Yes. It's going to be a high-scoring affair. $10.25. Ew. I'm not going to... You're cool, but I reckon Daniel Tupu's a sure. At least sure they say he's gone. Over Xavier Savage, the kick, he's way bigger there. I think with the amount of points I think this game is going to have, I reckon Tupo for two.
Oh, but you're not touching him. Or maybe you are. Who knows? Who knows? Well, that's it. That is round 13 of the Rugby League. Three teams to buy this week. A little mini buy round. Get the very annoying super coach, but it is what it is. It's because you don't know how to coach, mate. I've got myself. A little shout out for coach, but new record for me for round, rank. I fell inside the top thousand for the round. 857th. Went large. 1100, baby.
Did the right captain call, mate? Dylan Lucas? No. Such a sharp. Oh, wow. That was pretty damn close. Could have probably got an extra couple hundred spots if I went Dylan Lucas. I did have Dylan Lucas for majority of that fucking round, too.
¶ Crucial and Big Buck Picks
But anyway, shite happens. No crucial and big bark on the episode, I guess, because... I guess so. Do we still tell them ours? I don't know. I'm happy to shout out mine. I'm... I'll be, won't be changing them. Me too. Well, like I said, he's due. Calling it early. Josh Adekari is my crucial. Nice little $2.7. Give me the Fox $2.7, baby. And yeah, up against Penrith, right edge. I like that a lot. And then I'm going Big Bark. I wanted to go Scotty Sorensen, but I just, you know, I didn't want to,
I couldn't go that big. And we need to fucking hit something. So I've gone Heath Mason on debut. Not debut, but just first game of the season. and playing 5'8 for the Tigers. He's a goer. He played really well his couple games last year. He scored a try. He's usually a fullback, so I know his mentality should be run first, and I feel like he's going to get through for a try. I didn't like that one. For me, the crucial, I've gone the Knights rookie. I've gone Fletcher Hunt.
Oh, I don't like it. The left winger for $2.50. I can't not. He's looking slow. Yeah, but, you know, that just means he's due. Cody's going to be fucking blowing up. And then for me, like, another guy that's just been absolutely rubbish lately. But I feel like he's got a good matchup. And because he hasn't been scoring tries, his price has dragged out a fair bit. So give me Reuben Garrick for $3.25. I think that's good, Val. I reckon he's fucking let us down before it is, bloke. Rubik Garrick.
Doesn't look like anyone. He'd probably let us down on the same gamer. Yeah, definitely. But it doesn't look like just a quick scan of what we've done over this season. No one's taken him in a crucial or big buck this year. Well, there it is. That is Kyle's and mine, big bucks and crucials. Cody's going to tie them up nicely and we're going to get a fucking hit. Vibe it. Gamble responsibly, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you. Cut the fucking stream.
Enjoy the state of the region. I hope it's a red-hot game. There you go. It was last night, bro. Who's dogged it? Cut the fucking stream. Oh, you did it. Up the dogs. Fuck the dogs.
