Episode description

Since Shanell’s time as a Smithite at Johnson C. Smith University, she has dedicated herself to working for the greater good, and upon graduation secured a Government job. The opportunity to move to Washington, DC was Godsent because she was not only able to excel in her career, but because she was also able to meet the love of her life. While planning for her wedding, and preparing to celebrate the holidays with family, Shanell became 1 of over hundreds of thousands of furloughed government employees. She went from envisioning the sound of herwedding bells, to imagining a pile of bills, and decided to take matters into her own hands. On January 12, 2019 Shanell decided to take the talents and skills organically learned from watching her mother and grandmother in the kitchen and became “The Furloughed Cook”.
