Joseph faces harsh adversity once again

God is at work in our lives in both prosperity & adversity

“Our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. Godly character – cannot be built in a vacuum – or by a magic wand.

Character, like gold, must be refined in the furnace of adversity

Joseph rises above dire adversity by BEING OBEDIENT TO GOD’S WORD

 

Joseph – a prophetic prefigure of King Jesus

1) The beloved son, sent by the father on a mission of love.

2) Rejected because of his testimony to his own brethren (Tribes of Israel)

3) Sold to gentiles for a few pieces of silver (the price of a slave)

4) Falsely accused and arrested

5) His tunic taken by the captors

6) Left for dead

7) Preached to the spirits in prison (Eph 4:8-10, 1Pet 3:18-19)

(to one a message of Salvation, to one a message of judgment)

8) Raised to power, seated at the right hand
