Hello. Hello and welcome, son. Rightfully rich podcast. Your weekly. Michael, Look. Going life and finances with Swiss. I'm your host, Richie. And can I tell you I am so excited? This is my first episode. And I just gotta thank my Lord and Savior God, Thank you. Lure because, you know, without you keeping me here, you know, I wouldn't be able to do these things. But I have to let you know this podcast is a labor of love that has been on me and my friend circles prayer list for a long time. So a little bit about my friend circle we get together, You know, we do who rest up without France, of course. You know we do business together. We also pray together. And we have been praying about this podcast for awhile. We pray about the different aspirations that each of us have, and so super super happy. Bless that I have such a great friend Circle that has believed in me that has, you know, help Pray for me, you know, to get me to where I'm at now. My best friend of 30 years. You just don't know this girl. Be speaking life into me. If you have the best I know 30 years and make me seem like I'm old. I'm only 35 but we didn't know each other since we was fired. So best friend of 30 years. Okay. My God, sister. She has been helping me with these topics to make sure that I'm dissecting on Well, you know what I should bring to the table and talk about. You know, I have mentors who have spoke life into me who have shown me that all I need to do is be my authentic self and I'll be able to survive. I have great family members who support me cousins who are in my life who have been listening to sound bites and things like that who have just, you know, just give me all the love and also my sores. Oh, my didn't show. I have such a great support system. And I wanted to talk about starting, you know, before you know, we dive until the topic starting something. Let me tell you what. When you have to start something and start something great, it feels like the opposition just gang up and say yo, let me go get all the demons. We're gonna jump all on your back. You know, with this plaque has I was gonna work with one of my friends, and I'm still gonna work with him. It's just I didn't get a chance to work with him for these first, you know, my trailer in this first episode, you know, because he had other things that he had to take care of. And so I was sitting here like, down. Do I still start? You know, should I wait? But because I feel like the Lord told me you start this weekend, So that's what I did. So I had to stop thinking about what it is that I didn't have. And I have to concentrate on all the things that I did have. I have my passion, I have my drive, and I got something to say. And so I got on good. Oh, YouTube University. And I figured out how I was going to make this podcast come to fruition. So I looked up videos. I had to learn how to mix and things. Now I'm not too far removed from editing out things just because I used to be on the radio. You know a little fact about me. I was on the radio from 2005 to 2010 and I wasn't on air personality for hip hop and R and B Station B K Pop in Nairobi station. You girl used to go back Essence. You can't find too much about, you know, my days or in the air just because that was when the Internet wasn't as popping as it would as it is now. You know? No, Instagram Facebook was a thing, but it wasn't really a thing like that. So I can't go back in my glory days and say, Look at me. You know, I wish that I could, but I can't. But no biggie, because your girl is here right now. But I wasn't really too bad at editing. I knew this life from back in the day. I just had to, you know, it was like, you know, when you have your training wheels on, I had to take those things off and then say OK, but I can edit So the music that you hear with the vocals and the mixing that's all me super proud and happy that I was able to do it. And when it's something that you want to do, you find a way. You make a way. That's something that I truly believe in. And one of my sources, she will tell you I am always that person. That's like, You know what? It doesn't even matter. I'm a find a way. I've been that way my whole life. And so if you're out there and you're thinking, I want to start something, but it keeps feeling like you know something, there's a monkey on my back. Squirrel. I can't do it Squirrel over there. You know, I like doing the squirrel in there. If any of y'all seen, uh, I'm very random. So you gotta learn that throughout this park, as I can be very, very random. But if it's something that you're passionate about, doing something that you want to do something you wants a lunch. I just want to give you confirmation. Go ahead and lost that thing. Start that thing. Get it on. Done. Okay, find away, make away. But let's go ahead and dive into our topic today. So the song that has been playing over and over in my car and in my house and in my head is happiness over everything. Hope, love the title. Okay? Absolutely. Love it. Just because happiness over everything is making a choice that you know what? No matter was thrown at me. I'm choosing happiness over everything. So let me tell ya when I became home, just I I'm gonna tell you all about my happiness over everything. Moment. When that first began in my life, when I was 12 I thought I told you so. I grew up in Harvey, Illinois, right outside of Chicago. So I used to visit my boogie cousins. They probably hit us and say the nerve to me. They were They were my boogie cousins. And so I at 12 I started visiting them, and I live between Harvey and Markham, so, you know, a bit hood ish. You know, when I went to visit them in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to me, that was rich, rich. Now, my cousins, now they're telling me we wasn't rich. They was rich. Okay, That was going out to e. On Tuesday. Just because it was Tuesday. We didn't have out to eat money like that. Okay, that was going out to e. I would be there for spring break and for Christmas, break in for Christmas. My first Christmas there. I remember them giving me money and just saying call, you know, bad a block. That's what I thought I heard in my head at 12. I thought I heard them say Go about the blood. But they just said, Go get some things that she wanted And that was not something that I was used to. And it was a lifestyle that I said, I'm not accustomed to this. I've never known this life. I want this for my life. So that was my whole moment right there. I'm choosing happiness over everything. In this moment, I decided. You know what? I always want greatness in my life. That was that moment for me, and I've carried that with me now. And I'm 35 that was 12 when I first decided that, and so I wanted to talk about happiness over everything and how that looks in our financial lives. I didn't been through a lot, so in my career I'm a public speaker. I speak on leadership and financial matters. I'm a financial educator. And so I talked to hundreds of people throughout the week. And sometimes when I'm when I'm giving these talks, you know, when I'm, you know, consultant with people, I'm telling them, you know, there's not this, you know, this financial answer that's just out there. Like, if I tell you this, and all of a sudden, boom, you know, you're gonna have the answer to everything. That's not how that works in our financial lives, we have to make a choice as to what decisions were gonna make for the rest of our lives. And what I mean, when I say that, how are you gonna live? Are you going to continue to live over your means? If you're living over your means, are you going to continue to self sabotage yourself by overspending? Are you going to continue to not take accountability for where it is that you stand? You know, I'm a give you an example, and you're gonna have lots of examples because I always feel like if I'm telling you about something, I want to give you some real life examples that go along with that situation. Five years ago I went through Ah, very bad divorce. I told you I went from not from California, and that's where I currently live. And so, seven months after moving to California with my Children's father, my ex husband, we went through a separation that ended up going into divorce. And after that, I was broke broke. So if you've ever been through a life stage where you go from two incomes, so one income, you know that that's hard. So for me, I had to figure out What are we gonna do? I had two young Children at that time. There were nine and seven, and I was trying to tap into my you know, my happiness over everything I was saying my whole moment just to make you laugh. But I was trying to tap into that. But it was such a sad time. But I still had to get out of that sadness that I felt to figure out how we don't choose happiness in our life. How am I gonna make my financial situation work for the good? And at that moment, I wasn't making a lot of money. I had two Children to take care of. Of course I was co parenting, but still I had to provide a life in my household. And when you broke broke, you come up with creative ways to make a living. So I started recycling. We wasn't going out to eat. I mean, I couldn't buy anything above what it was that I mean, I had to stick to a Strick budget. I'm telling y'all, strict budget California is expensive as hell to live in. So I was on such a strict budget that my life felt like I felt like the walls were closing in on me. I had to think to myself financially, What am I going to do to get myself out? You know of of this place where I'm at where I can't do anything, you know, because your financial life is made up All of the decisions that you make because I didn't have a savings that I kept, you know, while I was married, I left my marriage without a savings. I went into debt and then I was living paycheck to paycheck. What can I do to bring myself out of that? I had to get clear, get very mindful of the decisions that I was making. How am I going to get myself out of this? I started, you know, doing post on Instagram, saying, you know, just talking about, you know, finances. Because I've been in the financial industry for almost 40 years. I did that just for a little while. I didn't know where that was gonna go. I ended up landing the job of my dreams by being a financial educator. That came from me, starting with during those posts and me just having faith in myself and believing in myself that I had a message that needed to get out to others. Now I get a chance to talk about those things, you know, on a bigger scale. And so that was a choice that I had to make. I had to switch careers. I had to move. I had to do some things to get my financial life back in order. And so the one thing that we don't think about I feel enough is when your financial life is in disarray. You I mean, you lose it, you stress out, you worry. And when your your financial life is the one thing your financial health, I'll say, is the one thing that can throw all of your other health song, your physical health and your mental health. And you don't need either one of those things being off because when you're stressed out, I always say this when I'm talking to people when you stressed out, especially about money, all you do is find money toe ways to either come up with a coping habit that costs money or you're spending money because you eat in or you just spending money for no reason why I came when we stressed out about money, we go outside and run like 50 miles and get super fit right. That wasn't something that I did. And most people, when they're stressed out, when they feel you know those triggers of emotion, they go out and they spend money. And so that's the reason why choosen happiness and your financial life is gonna be something that everyone needs to get Michael about. And you need to know you know what it is and where it is that you stand, what it is that you want from your financial life and where it is that you stand so that takes accountability that takes you sitting down being mindful which yourself annoying, you know? How much money do I have coming in? How much money do I have going out? Where do I stand on the credit skill? If I'm trying to buy a house, am I in a position where I can pay for house and or expenses that come with the house? If I want a new car, Am I in a position to purchase a new car? How much cannot afford? These are things that you have to get mindful about, you know, to bring the happiness into your life, your financial life that you know that you want. And I know that we all have different goals that we want to accomplish, especially financially. But it takes being mindful about your financial life in order to get to that place. Coming up on the podcast, I'm gonna be talking about budgeting, saving and spending, not in that order. But I'm gonna be talking about those things just because those are three things that can take your financial life from Canada. Two a better spot if you know what to do. But the first thing that you have to do is get riel, which yourself and figure out How do I want to bring happiness? And so my financial life do I need to save more? Do I need to stop spending? What do you need to do? Are you able to be accountable to yourself right now and discipline which yourself, you know, to say I need to make a change because, you know, we're gonna treat this like therapy. You know, looking at your own financial life and saying, Hey, what is it that I need to do before I move forward so that I can be happy so that I'm not stressed out so that I'm not worrying, you know? So that's the topic, right? That that's that's how I was feeling. I was filling the song and I said, How can I talk about that in a way that I get people you know, excited and wanting to bring happiness until their financial life? And I just want to talk about, you know, you get real with yourself, basically, So that's all I got on that topic today. Like I said, the song that I've been listening to over and over again, it's whole Go check it out It's Jenna ICO. Future and McGill. Such a great song. Absolutely love it. Wish I could play it, but I ain't got no money for nobody to sue me. But if you want to connect with your girl, check me out when I g I am mindfully rich. That's what you could find me if you want to connect sending messages, no bad messages. But you know how much a girl. But that's all My God, where you thank you for choosing. So listen to my plea rich part cat. I'll be back to enrich your mind with some more mindful things coming up.
