The Michael Duke Show. I have two guns, one for each of you. Firearms Friday. As Thomas Jefferson stated, it is the right and duty of the people to be at all times armed. I say that the Second Amendment is, in order of importance, the first amendment. The right to keep and bear arms is the one right that allows rights to exist at all. The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Firearms. From my cold, dead hands. Friday.
Yeah, buddy. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to assume your gender there, sir, ma'am. Good morning. Welcome to the program. It is The Michael Duke Show, broadcasting live. Across the state of Alaska on this favorite radio station and or FM translator. And live around the world on the interwebs at MichaelDukeShow.com. Hello, my friends. Thank you so much.
what uh it's it's a it's a crazy crazy crazy crazy world we live in crazy times it's uh lots of stuff happening And of course, today's the day we get a chance to dive down into our favorite topics, which include... Firearms, gun laws, discussions, Second Amendment issues. And, of course, all the stuff that goes along with all that stuff, because it is Firearms Friday. That's, you know.
I think that should be explanatory, self-explanatory at that point. All right. So what do we got going on today? Well, we've got a full slew of headlines and talk and discussion and stories. for hour one this morning for us to go over and talk about, hopefully to educate you on some of the things that are going on out there that you may or may not know about in the gun world, in the gun culture. Then in hour two, we will be visiting with, first and foremost, we'll be visiting with Rob Pincus.
From Avidity Arms, ICE and PDN Combat Training, the PDN Tour. Uh, all the stuff that Rob, I mean, he's wears a lots of hats. So Rob Pincus has been a while since we had a chance to talk to him. And so he's going to be joining us in our two to talk about, uh, you know, just get an update on what he's been doing, what's going on, what his thoughts are on.
The election and the fate of the gun culture and where things are going from here. And then, of course, as always, we will finish up with our friend Willie Waffle from Waffle Movies. who will come on board to talk about the weekend movie and streaming review. Right? That's it. That's it. That's everything. That's the whole smear. Okay. Whew. Man.
How are you guys doing? Are you guys ready for the weekend? Are you ready for a little bit of, you know, are you taking down time? Or are you, I mean, are you doing a million things? What are you, you know, you're working? Or are you just going to sit back and enjoy a little bit? I'll be honest with you. I'm I'm.
I am going to take just a little bit of time this weekend. I still am working my way through my list of to-do things. But I am going to take a little bit of time this weekend to... to spin down for just a little bit because i'm uh i'm getting a little getting a little war out here and uh i don't know if you can hear it but i'm a little stuffy i'm a little little rundown
And I might need to sleep in a little bit. Just, you know, I'm just going to cut. I'm just going to. Yeah, Brian, I'm just going to cut back to a million things from a couple million things to a million things. So. It'll be good stuff. But, yeah, I'm planning on taking just a little bit of downtime this weekend to try and R&R, rest and recuperate, or relax and recuperate.
refuel and reload, whatever it is that R&R stands for. Um, anyway, we're going to, uh, just kind of enjoy ourselves and get ready for Monday, which reminds me on Monday, we are going to be talking with Bryn Butler from Fairbanks, Jody. Oh, I forgot Jody's last name. Jody Stewart from the Upper Kenai.
And then, um, Derotha Ferraro from the lower peninsula. And we're going to be talking about their big community connect event, which is going on in the 28th. So I got all three ladies on at the same time. to talk about this event that's going on statewide. So just to get some info and figure out what was going on. And, you know, it's a good thing. It's a good thing. I don't know why I turned Italian there, but...
It's a good thing. So we're going to we're going to do that on Monday and that'll be coming up for next week. All right. Let's see. What should we. What should we do? I think we should continue or get started on some of the big stories that appear. to be heading around. Now, the one thing that I'm hearing a lot of, and this happened since the, this has been going on since the assassination or the murder, I guess I should say, of the healthcare CEO, Brian Thompson.
There has been a lot of talk about ghost guns, right? Ghost guns, right? I just... I feel like every time I say that, it needs to be in the whole Scooby-Doo ghost, right? I mean, it just feels like that's what they're trying to do. Is they're trying to use the worst possible language to stir up the most possible fear on something that it, I mean, it just, anyway. So they're talking about ghost guns, right? Which what they really are is personally made firearms, PMFs.
Right. Privately made firearms. Sorry. Which we've had the ability to do in this country for years. Right. you've had the ability to make a firearm since the founding of the country. You've had the, you know, in most states, there has been no restrictions. If you wanted to make a firearm for person, as long as you weren't selling it.
As long as you weren't selling it or distributing it and you just wanted to make one for your own, you know, grins and giggles, you could do it. So this has been going on for a long time. But now that the, you know, we are seeing the mass producing of, you know, 3D printed files, and now we've got the Ghost Gunner. desktop CNC machine and everything else. And now the mainstream media has really become hip to what's going on out there, is that there's a lot of guns.
that people have been manufacturing on their own for years. And they, you know, the news media is just aghast, aghast that these people would have. So. When you look at this and you look at the numbers, though, you realize that this is not really as prevalent. As you would expect, Tom Nightington over at Bearing Arms goes into this in a couple different stories. One where he's talking about, you know, where they go after and they actually look at the number of.
cases where a privately made firearm or a ghost gun is being used. What's ironic is that one of the sites that had gone over this is the Good Men Project. And they actually they actually said the quiet part out loud that nobody really wants to point out. This is what they said about the ghost guns. OK. Often called ghost guns because they can be hard to trace, these firearms can be either partially...
or completely made with components that have been produced in metal or plastic on commercially made 3D printers. The U.S. Supreme Court is considering the legality of current federal restrictions on these firearms. The first known criminal case involving a 3D printed gun resulted in the arrest of a UK man in 2013. But since then, police worldwide have reported finding increasing numbers of those weapons. Thank you. Now, couple points.
on this first of all with that last part good you can't stop the signal right that's good It will prove harder for governments and police to regulate these firearms. He, the person who wrote this article, acts like that's a horrifically bad thing. But just for a minute, think about Tiananmen Square. Think about the crackdowns that are happening in places like Russia of dissidents and people who are protesting. Think about any place.
Where there is some form of tyranny or a tyrannical government where they have long oppressed the people. Or in the case of China, they just outright massacred them and run them over with tanks and doing everything else. Now imagine that these same people were introduced into 3D printed guns. You act like it's a bad thing.
When in all actuality, it's a pretty darn good thing. But the biggest thing, what really cracks me up about all this... is that they actually quote in this article, the first known criminal case involving a 3D printed gun resulted in the arrest of a UK man in 2013. Wait, wait. It was already illegal in the UK to have any kind of gun. And he was... It was already illegal. And the guy did it anyway. He was a criminal. He broke the law. Tell me that ain't so. Say it ain't so. I mean, that is just.
That is insane. But you know what really cracks me up? Is that when you look at the actual numbers, the actual raw numbers on PMFs, privately made firearms, ghost guns. If you look at that, from 2016 to 2021, a five-year period, the ATF received about 45,000 reports of suspected PMFs that were used in crimes, including 692 homicides or attempted homicides. So, okay. Now look at the data for the FBI from 2016 to 2020, and then adding in only the homicide data that you could find.
And that added up to a total of, during that five-year period, 113,000 murders, essentially, during that five-year period. Now, if privately made firearms... can only be accounted for 692 times. They included 692 cases. Even if all of them were murder and not, you know, homicide and not attempted homicide. it would account for about 0.61% of all murders. So how big a deal is it really? Ghost guns again. This is about frightening the populace. This is about.
Turning their heads with numbers. This is the same reason why they continually lie on the firearms numbers and statistics when they start talking about. gun violence. I don't know if you can hear the quotations around this. Gun violence. And when you think gun violence, you think, of course, bad stuff happening by bad people. But, of course, in the... gun violence numbers, they include suicides.
Not to say suicides are a good thing. I'm just saying when you say gun violence, you think of people doing bad things to other people, not somebody doing something bad to themselves. But say they include that in there. And of course, about 65 percent of those. gun violence numbers are suicides and self-harms. So it inflates the numbers and it blows it all out of proportion. This is, this is, you know.
It's information warfare. You've got to have the right statistics. You know, it's like evil black rifles, right? And the assault weapons ban. But when you look at the number of people who were killed with long guns, all long guns, not just assault rifles, but your squirrel rifles, hunting rifles, everything else, you realize that.
The the actual incident rate of somebody being killed with an evil black rifle, an assault rifle is, you know, point zero zero. I mean, you've got a lot of decimal places ahead of a zero here. on the number of people who were killed on that versus people who were killed with handguns or something else. And it's just because people don't bother to take a look at the actual numbers. It's pretty...
Pretty interesting stuff. All right, we got to go. We're going to continue. Rob Pincus is going to be joining us in hour two, and then Willie Waffle. The Michael Duke Show, Common Sense, Liberty-based, free-thinking radio. We return with more right after this. It's Firearms Friday, baby. Running on 100% pure beard power. Oh, also some coffee. We dip our beard in coffee. Ha, nice beard. The Michael Duke Show. Good morning. Well, wow. What's going on here? Anthony says...
That he is slowly descending into fever madness as the Fairbanks flu continues to ravage me with Stephen King-esque brutal efficiency. He's starting Captain Trips this weekend. For those of you who don't know, Captain Trips is the end of the world. In my opinion, says Jeannie. is that with our current SCOTUS and the current climate, the precedent that is forming in the queue will solidify the 2A like never before. I hope you're right. I hope you are... 100% right. Frank said...
I spent a week on the shores of Lake Lucille. Thanks, Valley people, for providing a different day of weather all seven days. Why did MD want to move from the Valley? I mean, it's a nice place, don't get me wrong, but I like Homer better. It is what it is. Good morning, good morning, good morning. I heard it was an antique gun. Okay. Frightening the normies. Okay. Anthony just said.
We were talking about privately made firearms and ghost guns. He says, yes, because when I envisioned a four toothed meth fiend, I imagine him operating a complex CNC machine that costs thousands of dollars and then stealing the eggs out of the fridge. in his own needs exactly i mean i mean uh it's just uh um Rick says, I actually just need people in Canada to share the Friday show with. Wonder how many guns are printed in the country to the east. I don't know. I don't know.
But yeah, I imagine that that's going to be a thing in Canada as well. People would be like, nope, we're just sorry. I'm sure they'll apologize for it, but they'll be like, sorry, sorry. Had to print something. I've got a print job going on. Sorry, sorry. Sorry. Bill says he hopes that I'm not getting the same crap that he's had. He said he's been sick since Christmas Day. No, I mean, I think I'm just a little wore out. It's been a... It's been a...
You know, I'm sorry. I'm a hot mess this morning, man. It's been, it's been a, it's been a few weeks. It's been a couple months of just go, go, go. And, uh, starting to wear thin, wear, wear thin a little bit. Wear thin. All right. Just bumped that one right off the thing there, didn't we? Okay. Well, let's continue on here. Boom. Okay. Lost, lost our connectivity there for a second. I don't know what happened, but we, we shall overcome. We shall overcome.
All right. Everything's back. Okay. Sorry, guys. Not as witty as I normally am in the morning. for discussion with you guys. All right, let's get to it. Shall we? Like, subscribe, ring the bell, do all the YouTube-y things. I'm going to live. I'm going to live. It's fine. I'm fine, fine, just fine. We're going to continue here in just a second. The Michael Duke Show, Common Sense, Liberty-based. Let's do this thing. Let's get all of here and get it all done. Here we go.
What the hell is an assault weapon? Does that mean that if we hurt your feelings, you should consider The Michael Dukes Show Assault Radio? Okay, we can accept that. Here's Michael Dukes. Kind of a d**k, but somewhat funny. What? I mean, he's just he's so mean, man. So mean. All right. Welcome back to the program. Let's. Let's get to it. Let's get to it and start talking about some of these other...
Some of these other stories. So, I mean, we were just talking about ghost guns. Ghost guns have, you know, they're talking about, well, they've been used in school shootings. And they've been, again, the number and incidence of. times that they have been used is so low it's like a vanishingly small 0.61 percent of all homicides uh in in overall which in and of itself is a pretty small number uh considering that you know the
The long guns and everything. Anyway, you've got to look at the actual numbers that we're talking about. So I'm going to get off that. I'm going to get dismount off the 3D printed. ghost guns self-made privately made firearms because it doesn't just have to be 3d printed it could be somebody who's literally machined a block of aluminum down to nothing it doesn't have to be 3d printed
Um, but they're, you know, they're coming after it. You know what, you know what I find ironic after I take a drink here to, to sleek my stuffiness, you know, what I find ironic is that we. We're building privately made firearms and especially like the big 80% lowers, you know, the 80% kits. We were building those for years, years. How long have they had 80% kits? It's got to have been 30 years, 25, 30 years since I saw my first 80% lower kit.
I mean, at least. I mean, maybe somebody in the chat room can give me an egg. Have you made one? That would have been, what, 1990, right? 1995, 30 years ago. Does anybody in the chat room or anybody, have any of you made an 80% kit that was earlier than that? Maybe it's even earlier. I don't know. But I mean... The ironic thing is, is we've been doing this for like 30 years and it's never been an issue until somebody wanted to make it an issue.
They wanted to gen it up, right? Ghost guns. They wanted to make hay. That's what it's all about. I mean, people can make zip guns. People can make, I mean, it's just, it's astonishing. It's astonishing that people are going a ham on all this. Well, some good, potentially good news during President Trump's first term, the Hearing Protection Act looked like it could possibly pass. That had been I mean, that had been on the.
That had been on the docket and on the radar. I mean, the idea that you could walk into a gun store and just buy a suppressor. And all you had to do is pass the Knicks check or whatever. You didn't have to do the fingerprints and the $200 stamp. All you had to do was walk in and pass the Knicks check and just buy it and walk out. That was some, I mean, you know, that was kind of exciting.
And then you had the shooting at the Route 91 Music Festival. And the life is good. And, you know, boom. There you go. That. was just one of the big setbacks that then kept suppressors on the NFA list. But it looks like... That the CCRKB is starting to do some work. That's the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. They are out there pushing hard.
To get the Hearing Protection Act. And are they still calling it the Hush Act? I can't remember if this is the. But they're still working to get that back out onto the floor. And Congressman Ben Klein of Republican, Virginia, has introduced H.R. 404, the Hearing Protection Act. It would amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to remove suppressors. from the definition of firearms, and from the regulation under the 1934 NFA, National Firearms Act. And it's...
It's a great idea. Now, what are we fighting against? Well, we're fighting against Hollywood. We're fighting against the... You know, the counterculture and the misnomers that most average citizens, non-gun owning, non-2A citizens believe that somehow. Suppressors are like magic that you can walk into a dead quiet room and kill somebody with a, and they would never know. You couldn't even hear it.
Except for the fact that the truth and the reality is, is that suppressors do not do that. That, you know, for the most part, I mean, you could silence a gun down to almost that level, but then the question would be, would it... Would the round itself at that point be effective against a target? I mean, would it still be traveling fast enough and a big enough projectile to actually do any damage, right? That's the question.
But see, that's the thing. There's a lot of misinformation out there. Every time you see a movie, what do you see? You see, right? It makes no sound whatsoever. The guy at the next table doesn't even notice that you just fired a gun. And if you've ever fired a suppressed firearm, you understand that that's definitely not how it works. But.
We're going to, I mean, we're going to, it looks like we're going to fight this battle again. Alan Gottlieb, who's the chairman of the CCRKB, basically got up and said, you know, look, suppressors work like mufflers on automobiles. They greatly reduce the noise generated by muzzle blasts. They're used in many states by hunters, shooters utilizing indoor gun ranges and outdoor ranges in suburban environments and many other people.
They're not designed to completely silence a firearm for illegitimate purposes, but instead to provide one more important level of hearing protection. In Denmark, in the Nordic countries... They're a requirement. You can buy one at, I guess, a hardware store. It's harder to get the rifle than it is to get the suppressor, but it's just good manners to suppress your firearm so you're not bothering your neighbors.
I mean, this is, you know, of course, somebody will immediately point out on the I'm sure somebody on the other side of the philosophical fence will immediately point out. that the health care CEO that got murdered, that his killer apparently used a homemade suppressor and a homemade gun, apparently. A homemade gun and a homemade suppressor or something like that. But... Okay. Well, again, it's already illegal to make a homemade suppressor, although it's not that hard. I mean, it's the...
If you understand the principles and the theory of how suppressors work, it's not that hard to do, right? You could build a, I mean... How many, we've all watched the walking dead. How's that soda pop can or soda bottle working out for you? Right. I mean, we, you know, it's, it's, it's not stopping him from doing anything.
Why are you punishing average, lawful, law-abiding citizens? And why are you holding up this criminal as an example of, well, this is why we can't have it. Well, it was already illegal. How is this? How is this fixing anything? It was already illegal to one, have a gun there. Two, have a homemade gun there. Three, have a homemade gun that was suppressed. Oh, by the way, four, it was also illegal to kill somebody. And this guy did all of that. So, okay.
So he used a homemade suppressor. It wasn't that people heard the shot. It wasn't silent. It was already illegal. What does that have to do with allowing lawful, law-abiding citizens to use a tool for safe hearing? What's going on? Right? It just makes no sense. It just makes no sense. I mean, despite the fact that suppressors are some of the most tightly controlled firearms accessories in the U.S.
This guy was still able to build one. I mean, that again, that means that the laws aren't really as effective as some have tried to claim. Which means that we need to take a step back and stop pretending that the NFA is some kind of stalwart bastion against and should never be modified because, come on. Really? Bad guys are doing bad things. And all you're doing is penalizing the private citizens who want to exercise their rights. That's all we're doing.
So we'll see. H.R. 404, the Hearing Protection Act. So we'll talk with Nick Begich next time he's on the program. which is hopefully in the next couple of weeks, we're going to get him on the program to talk about it and see where he goes from here. We've also got a new law that is being introduced in the state of...
I'm sorry, in the Congress. In the Congress, that's what I was looking for. And this is in response to some of the laws that have been passed in places like New York and Maryland, their so-called... assault weapons ban or the thing in Colorado now where they're basically just outlawing all semi-automatics. Like, no, it's like they're not even pretending anymore. All semi-automatics, right?
So on Wednesday, Representative Claudia Tenney, a Republican from New York of all places, introduced the Second Amendment. Guarantee Act. The saga. The saga. Which... Well, I'm going to tell you about it here in a minute. There's the hook. It's... It's quite clever. Although, as an anti-federalist at heart, in my mind, you know, the federalist, you know, the founders, the federalist versus the anti-federalist, as an anti-federalist at heart.
I am a little bit concerned. I mean, I don't know. I'm torn. We're going to have to talk about it. We'll have to see what you say on that. You know, I was going to open up the phone lines for Fred because I haven't heard from Fred in a couple weeks. It's been a while, but... Maybe we'll see if we can get Fred on the line. We'll figure it out. All right, we've got to go. The Michael Luke Show, Common Sense Radio. Rob Pink is coming up top of the hour.
If you missed the show, you can listen to it on your time with Duke's On Demand. Oh, and it's free. Like America used to be. Streaming live every weekday morning on Facebook Live and MichaelDukesShow.com. Okay. i'm scrolling backwards here So they should be shipping the Ghost Gunner CNC soon. Yeah, I know. Those things have been sold out. Every time they go on sale, they sell out immediately.
You also have to take into account that if a dude 3D printed a buttstock, depending on the state they reported, they report that as a ghost gun as well. And you're not wrong. The numbers that are being provided are heavily contaminated. Well, they're heavily confusing. You're 100 percent right. I mean, it could be a regular firearm with a 3D printed stock or accessory and they could be, you know.
It's all good. WK says, my neighbors will be happy if I had a suppressor. Yeah, exactly. Hey, Greg, how you been, man? You've been a busy guy. Haven't seen you in a while. Yeah, Alka-Seltzer Plus is your friend. I got sick right before we moved from Wasilla. And I was living on Alka-Seltzer day and night, the two color boxes, you know, the blue and the orange. I was living on that stuff for about 10, 12 days because I'm back to where I was, that thing. So, yeah.
Pete says going after ghost firearms is their way of chipping away at our Second Amendment rights. I agree. I mean, I agree. It's just another it's just another way to make the public fearful. Right. Assault weapons ban. Weapons of war. Ghost guns. They make it sound scary. Zip guns weren't enough. Now they've got to be ghost guns.
Anthony says, yes, because according to every non-educated firearm person, a suppressor makes you a ninja. I then usually offer to let them fire my 190-ish decibel AR-10 with no hearing pro. since 165 decibels is silent um it shouldn't hurt right yeah The guy went into the effort of researching and making his own firearm and suppressor, but skipped over the Nielsen device. Yeah.
All right. Rick said he talked with Nick's office yesterday and voiced opinion on the on the issues. Good. Fred and that dude in Australia. Oh, Chris Howard. I got a. Did I? Remind me. Yeah, yeah, I learned my lessons yesterday about opening the phone lines. Imagine having that. We're going to talk about this in a bit, Brian. Imagine having that thing that goes up in addition to a suppressor and a ghost gun. The thing that goes up. Yeah, imagine.
Imagine what that madness would be like. Imagine you had that shoulder thing that goes up. I'm sorry, I'm a little punchy. That's some funny stuff there. I was so bored watching Governor Dog Killer's confirmation that the trance I was in made me late. What did I miss? Governor Dog Killer? What? What's the, what am I, what am I missing? What am I missing? All right. Fred. i guess i'm should i launch the whole phone line thing or should i just should i just send fred uh should i just i don't know
I don't know. I've only got one more segment before we got to jump into it with Rob. And so I am trying to trying to see what's trying to see what's going on here. All right. Let me, I don't think I'm going to have enough time. I've got less than a minute here. I suppose I could try it. So bad. So bad. all right well we're trying to launch it here we'll see if we can get the phones launched and uh get uh um okay there we go and continue and join okay
Let's see if this actually works. Thanks for calling the call in line of the Michael Duke show. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So we got there. So I got the phone lines up and we'll see if Fred wants to call it. Fred, if you're listening, you can call in. Because people have been asking about you, man. People have been asking about you. All right. We'll see what we can come up with. Hopefully the phone lines hold together because they've not been super stable the last couple times we've used them.
All right, let's get to it. Here we go. The Michael Duke Show. Common Sense Radio. Here we go. Is it really? Eight seconds? Okay. Bye. What the hell is an assault weapon? What isn't? If I assault you with a penguin, doesn't that make it an assault weapon? Does this mean that if we hurt your feelings, you'd consider The Michael Dukes Show assault radio? Okay, we can live with that. Here's Michael Dukes.
Well, hello, my friends. Hello. How are you? Welcome back to the program. It is hour one of Firearms Friday. We're just finishing stuff up. Uh, somebody that somebody in the chat room said we hadn't, excuse me, hadn't heard from Chris and, um, um, we hadn't heard from, uh, I'm sorry. I apologize. We hadn't heard from Fred.
in Rhode Island in a while. Fred from Rhode Island is one of our longtime Friday callers who always dials in from the great state of Rhode Island. He listens out there on Fridays. And on the Internet. And we hadn't heard from him because partially because I'd been on vacation and everything else was, you know, it was good. So anyway, feel free, Fred. I've opened the phone lines just for you. If you want to sound off on something today, people are.
They'd want to do a welfare check on Fred out there in Rhode Island. So if you're out and about, Fred, feel free to give us a ring. Meanwhile, Rob Pincus from Avidity Arms and PDN, the Personal Defense Network and Ice Combat Training is all going to be he wears all those hats and more. He is going to be joining us here in about 15 minutes or so, and we'll be picking up with him and talking about...
getting caught up on what he's been doing and what they're working on now. Probably talk a little bit about SHOT Show and everything else. It should be a fun deal. And look, hey, there's Fred right now. Fred is still Fred still around. So we we got Fred coming up on the phone lines. We'll have him here in just a second. Meanwhile, I was talking about this.
this new law which would nullify state-level gun bans. So we'll talk about that here in just a hot second. But first, let's check in with Fred to see what he's got to say. Good morning, Fred. How are you, my friend? Good morning, Michael. Drink, drink. Glad to see you back on vacation. How did it go? Yeah, you know, it's been, well, it wasn't really much of a vacation. I've been working since Christmas Day. But it's been fruitful. We've been working hard.
of stuff going on. Looking forward to a little bit of week. I'm going to take a little bit of downtime this weekend. I think I'm going to take a day and just kind of relax a little bit. But how have you been? How was your holidays? I was good. You know, pretty hectic. You know, did a little bit of traveling and, you know, back in action back here in Rhode Island.
So here we go. All right. We're going to go see Monday. We kind of get the chance to turn the country back in a direction that's going to be fruitful for the next four years. Straighten out a lot of craziness that's been going on. And I think it's something definitely positive to look forward to for a change for a long time.
Change is definitely long overdue. Yeah, we can hope. We can hope that some of these changes are going to be good and that they're going to be reflective of it. Have you been following any of the big firearm stories here lately? Yeah, we've been following, sure. You know, I'm always on top of those. That's kind of my favorite subject, you know, following what's going on with the firearms. It's 2A and the firearms. Yeah. Apparently...
You know, I think the left has taken a step back, I think, and it is kind of like in pause right now because I think that they don't know whether Trump's going to come down on them like a ton of bricks. Or, you know, they're just going to try to kind of weasel some kind of a compromise with them. Or, you know, just kind of like just lie low until they can get their act together, you know.
Well, some of them are maybe taking a pause, but some of them are going full bore. I mean, they're going, look at the Colorado thing where they want to basically ban every semi-automatic available out there. I mean, it's... Well, apparently, the people in Colorado, I mean, Colorado used to be a very...
Very two-age state. And then I guess all the crazies from California bailed out of California, but they took their insane politics with them and they moved to Colorado. Right, right. I think that has a lot to do with it. I mean, they left the state that they couldn't stand to stay in, but then when they left, they took all the things that made California the mess that it is with them.
And it's kind of like a pandemic. It's really, it's a pandemic of insanity is what it is. And it's kind of, you know, moving around and taking the disease with them. Yeah, well, hopefully, like you said, hopefully with the new president and the Supreme Court that we have and a lot of the presidents, hopefully we can... set up and stabilize a good, solid Second Amendment bulwark for the foreseeable future. Let's hope anyway.
Well, I think the biggest thing right now is going to be getting a handle on the assault weapons ban and the magazine ban, because that's the most egregious, you know, the most... Offensive, you know, first of all, it's an insult to anybody, any law-abiding gun owner in the country. I think right now it's a spit in the eye is what it is.
But they don't care. You know, the left just doesn't care. They got their agenda, their crazy little agenda. They think it's going to solve everything. Well, if it's going to solve everything, what I mean is we're going to start banning pickup trucks now from Louisiana? Right, right, right. As a matter of fact.
Amazing how quickly that story disappeared. Thanks, media. Thanks, news media. Really appreciate you picking and choosing, cherry picking and choosing your stories that you want to cover. Right. And covering the reality of the whole thing. But God only knows if you did that, you might have realized that this whole gun control issue is nothing but a lot of smoke and mirrors.
Yeah, no, absolutely. Another agenda. No, and I know that the Supreme Court right now has got briefs in front of it, and they're actually reading into the briefs on both the Delaware and the Maryland assault weapons ban and then the assault weapons.
ban and the magazine ban so i'm looking forward to it fred i hope that we'll see i'm hoping we'll see some good stuff from that so we'll we'll think we will i i certainly hope we do because you know i think that we would step back to step back to sanity
if they throw these things out, because it's been nothing more. I mean, when I look at it, Dianne Feinstein made an entire career in the Senate doing nothing but gun control. Now it's her whole platform. That's what kept her afloat and kept her votes coming in.
Oh, yeah. It gets up on a soapbox every once in a while and yells and screams and points of fingers and this and that and the other thing. People fall for it. We have no idea what the hell she's talking about. But they bought into the light. Well, that's what they did. Well, we just we're talking about Carolyn McCarthy the same way. You know, the shoulder thing that goes up, lady. She spent 20 years in Congress.
after her husband was killed on a on a on a subway car by a by a madman and she spent 20 years her whole thing her whole shtick was gun control for 20 years and yet this is the one that couldn't explain what uh what what a barrel shroud was, you know, the shoulder thing that goes up. She's making rules and laws for average everyday Americans and doesn't even understand what exactly it is that she's doing. This is not, you know, this is not rocket surgery here. So.
All right. Well, Fred, thank you so much. It's good to talk with you, my friend. I hope you have a good weekend. It's always pleasant to visit. And, uh, and, uh, thanks for, thanks for tuning in. I appreciate it. Yeah. Carolyn McCarthy, for those of you who don't remember, uh, is the gal who had that memorable tay-da-tay with, uh, Tucker Carlson. Back in his MSNBC days, I think it was MSNBC.
This was Tucker Carlson. In February, you introduced the Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act of 2007. It would regulate semi-ematic assault weapons, including weapons that have pistol grips, a forward grip, and something called a barrel shroud. Weapons with a barrel shroud.
shroud would be regulated. What's a barrel shroud and why should we regulate it? I think the more important thing is that it also would have had banned the large capacity clips that Colin Ferguson had used and also the killer. I read the legislation and it said that it would regulate barrel shrouds. What's a barrel shroud and why should we regulate that?
The guns that were chosen back in those days were basically the guns that most gangs and criminals were using to kill our police officers. I'm not saying it was the best bill, but that was the best bill. Do you know what a barrel shroud is? I actually don't know what a barrel shove is. I believe it's a shoulder thing that goes up.
I believe it's the shoulder thing that goes up, what the barrel shroud is. So they insist that certain cosmetic items or functional items or whatever be included in these bills and laws. They have no idea what they are, but they they insist that they be included and they outlaw them. I mean, this is the whole thing. There was an interesting article. Rajit Singh over at Bearing Arms writes about Susanna Hopp. versus Carolyn McCarthy, the two women who took opposite paths after personal tragedies.
And he goes on to talk about how Carolyn McCarthy, she just she's getting the presidential citizens medal from from Biden. the Muppet chief. She's going to get it for all of her hard work on gun control because her husband was killed again in a Long Island rail shooting. It wasn't a subway. It was a train car. And so, you know, but again, she spent 20 years fighting against, you know, your right to keep and bear arms.
after suffering a personal tragedy. And so I can understand her advocacy. But on the other hand, you have Suzanne Hupp from Texas, who was part of the Luby's Cafe shooting. She survived. Both of her parents were killed. And what did she do? Did she become an advocate for gun control? No. She fought for more gun rights because she wished there had been somebody there to help prevent her parents' murder.
It's interesting. It's an interesting comparison. I'll drop a link to this story in the chat room. We can continue. All right, we've got more coming up. Rob Pincus is going to be joining us up next. The Michael Duke Show, Common Sense, Liberty Bay's Free Thinking Radio. All right. Excuse me. Wow. Alright. Yes, sir. Where am I? I was closing down some of these windows because I had too many stories up here.
Gabby Giffords back in the news. Okay. All right. I think we got all the way over to here. And I'm going to go ahead and shut the phones off because... I really only opened the phone lines up for Fred. I just wanted to say hi to Fred. Goodbye. Because we were getting worried. Getting worried. Hadn't seen Fred in a hot minute. So we wanted to hear from him and make sure everything was good. It was a welfare check on Fred. All right.
Okay, so, excuse me, Fred is all scored away, and I am now waiting for Rob Pecos to be jumping in with us here in just a hot minute. Did I include the link? I did. It's all good. So Rob should be joining us here any minute. Okay. Brian says... And this is, I think, in regards to our discussion about Colorado, how Colorado used to be a red state or mostly red state, but at least it was a pro 2A state, even if it was purple.
And Brian says, I blame John Denver for that. Is that what it was? Was it the hippy-dippiness of John Denver? I mean, is that what was going on? It was the... john denver was was part of the problem um um All legislators swear to protect and defend the Constitution. Heck, most don't even know what is in it. Murkowski is turned into Feinstein.
Yeah, well, I mean, and Jim is not wrong. He said at the end, Feinstein was being pushed around in a wheelchair and being told how to vote by her aides. Right. I mean, that's how I mean, Pelosi and Feinstein, they both seem to be like. Stick Boy exploited his what? Stick Boy exploited his alleged tragedy.
Oh, I didn't, you know what? I was so busy yesterday. I didn't even watch this. I was going to watch the starship thing. And then I looked at my clock and it was like two 30 and I had already missed it. So I didn't even bother to go back and look at it. Did the top of it explode? That's going to make me, that's going to disappoint me. That's going to disappoint me. If the top of it. Oh, spaceship catches super heavy booster on Starship but loses upper stage.
Did it, did it explode? Suffered an anomaly relatively early in flight. Using the chopsticks, but it did catch the super heavy booster. All right, well, that's good. I'll have to watch the video. I'll have to watch the full video, and we'll catch it here after the show. Thank you, Rick, for giving me the heads up on that. All right. Let me reach out here to, let me see where, see where Pincus is at here. Right there. Okay.
All right. I'm ready. Okay. Sorry about that. I was reading. I was reading Facebook. Why am I reading Facebook? Get out of the Facebook thing. And they caught the booster. All right. So, what do you get? I need some Alka-Seltzer in a bad way, guys. I mean, I was better when I first got up than I feel now. I feel like... One too many hits with a snake, right? All right. I'm looking...
Everyone knows that pistol braces turn the elderly and disabled shooters of the world into Mandalorian assassins. It's for your own good that the ATF takes them away. That was a comment I was going to... I was going to put up earlier that I just now saw there. So that's good. Um, I'm working on the space guy for next week. I'm trying to get him on, man. I really want to get him on.
It's been so long since I got a chance to talk about all that kind of cool stuff. But we'll get back to it. We'll get back to it. Don't you worry. Don't you worry. Hey, all you guys out on Rumble. There's seven of you out on Rumble. I can't see you. I can see the number of people watching, but I can't see who it is. Say hi. Why don't you guys on Rumble say hi. All right. I'm looking for Rob. Where are you, Rob? All right, we're going to continue on here. I'm going to take a...
Yeah, buddy. Listen to that funk. All right, we're going to get the funk out here. We're going to do it right now. The Michael Duke Show. Common Sense, Liberty-based, free-thinking radio. Here we go. Hour 2, dead ahead. don't understand. Check out themichaeldukesshow.com for information on how to get access to the podcast. Welcome to the party, pal. The Michael Duke Show.
As Thomas Jefferson stated, it is the right and duty of the people to be at all times armed. Say hello to my little friend! I say that the Second Amendment is in order of importance, the First Amendment. The right to keep and bear arms is the one right that allows rights to exist at all. The Michael Dick show. The right to keep and bear arms shall not. Firearms. From my cold, dead hands. Arms of Friday, your chance to sound off on issues of a 2A nature. We are, we are.
hanging out on this friday edition of the show uh and talking about uh talking about guns and firearms and two-way stuff and everything else um we're expecting And I actually went back and looked, and I did. I sent him a calendar invite, and he accepted, and I told him what, and I double-checked, and I made sure I put AM instead of PM. And all that stuff, I mean, it's all right there. It's all right there. So we're waiting. We're waiting to.
We're waiting for Rob Pincus to join us here this morning, and hopefully he'll be tuning in here and tying in here in just a few minutes. Meanwhile, we will get back to some of the other stories that we were discussing. Oh, and reminder that Willie Waffle will be joining us in, I don't know, 30, 35 minutes, something like that.
We'll have a little bit of, um, we'll have a little bit of Willie Waffle with us right here to, uh, um, to talk about. Um, so what was I talking about? Oh, I was talking about. The saga act before I got so distracted by the Carolyn McCarthy quote, because every time I hear Carolyn McCarthy's voice or I hear her name, all I can think of is her voice and that whole.
That whole debate with Tucker Carlson where she doesn't even know. She avoids the question, first of all. I mean, she just continually avoids the question. And I mean, that should be the first red flag for you. And in fact, when I was watching it, even if I hadn't been a pro Second Amendment person, I'd have been like, boy, she's spinning super hard.
I mean, because I mean, you guys have heard it, right? I mean, so I'll play it again. I'm going to play it again. It's only 50 seconds. But I mean, you can hear this is a question she does not want to answer. All she wants to do is avoid the question and because she does not know what he's talking about. And yet she is the stalwart defender of all this. Here's what the confrontation sounded like. This is back in 2007. All right.
In February, you introduced the Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act of 2007. It would regulate semi-automatic assault weapons, including weapons that have pistol grips, a forward grip, and something called a barrel shroud. Weapons with a barrel shroud would be regulated. barrel shroud and why should we regulate it? I think the more important thing is that it also would have had banned the large capacity clips that Colin Ferguson had used and also the killer.
and it said that it would regulate barrel shrouds. What's a barrel shroud and why should we regulate that? The guns that were chosen back in those days were basically the guns that most gangs and criminals were using to kill our police officers. I'm not saying it was the best bill, but that was the best bill. Do you know what a barrel shroud is? I actually don't know what a barrel shot. Oh, because it's in your legislation. I believe it's a shoulder thing that goes up.
Okay, so first thing she says is, oh, you know, the more important thing was not the barrel shroud part, but of course was the clips, the big clips. Which, every time they say that, I just cringe. It's a magazine. It's not a clip. A clip is something different. A clip is what you put bullets into. A magazine is... what you put the clip with the bullet into anyway it doesn't matter it's just you know it doesn't matter then she goes on to say well you know
It wasn't the best bill, but those were the guns that were used to mostly kill law enforcement. No, they weren't. They were pistols. Pistols are the firearm of choice for criminals. Why? Well, because they're concealable, right? They're concealable. They don't have to worry. You know, you're not seeing assault weapons being, generally speaking, being the source of. You know, being the source of most of the crime against police officers.
So you could just see she just did not want to. And you could see she tried to pick it up immediately after she made a comment. She tried to pick it up and change the subject. But Tucker Carlson. That was back when you saw, I mean, he's tenacious. He's always been tenacious. That was just a good example of it. Again, from 2007. That's when that quote came in, from 2007. But they just don't know.
They just don't know or understand the mechanics of what they're actually creating laws about. And that's... That's that's the frustrating part. Right. I mean, that's the frustrating part when they don't when they are making laws. And rules and regulations about things. that they do not even understand in the slightest, including things like, you know, barrel shrouds or...
Bayonet lugs or, you know, magazine capacities or bullet, you know, clips instead of magazines and all that. I mean, they don't understand all this stuff when when when they are. And this is, again. why you should never, ever take these guys' word for what's going on. And this is quite honestly why they should not be passing legislation on stuff that they don't under.
Stand. We all know because of the ammunition magazines that can be strapped onto so many pistols that these become automatic weapons similar to AK-47s. What? Ammunition magazines that can be strapped onto so many pistols that these become automatic weapons similar to AK-47s. That was Dick Durbin, by the way. Just in case you were wondering, Dick Durbin. Right. Congress critter up there telling you we all know that you could strap these magazines on and they become fully automatic AK-47s. That's.
That's not how it works. But these are the people that are making the laws. These are the people that are writing the laws that will put average law-abiding everyday citizens in peril of going to jail. And they don't even understand it. They don't understand the laws that they are championing, that they have put their names on and that they are, you know, out there railing against.
They don't understand the laws. Again, they don't understand any of it. If you have ever seen a gunman fire what looks like a machine gun with just one hand. That's what pistol braces allow you to do. I said, hold up. Wait a minute. Something ain't right. I mean, what? What if just because he could fire a machine gun one handed that pistol bracelet, the pistol brace allows you to do a lot of things. Firing one handed. OK.
But I've fired machine guns one handed without a pistol brace. So what is again? How does that work? And then, of course, your favorite, your absolute. flavor of the month. Put a pistol on a brace, it turns into a gun. Makes it more, you can have a higher caliber weapon, a higher caliber bullet coming out of that gun. It's essentially turning into a short barrel rifle. which has been a weapon of choice by a number of mass shooters. You put the
It turns it into a higher caliber. If you put the weapon, if you tape it on and then you do the thing and you duct tape and you kill a chicken and you dip it in its blood and then it's what? What? Put a pistol on a brace, it turns into a gun. Makes it more, you can have a higher caliber weapon, a higher caliber bullet coming out of that gun. It's essentially turning into a short barrel rifle, which has been a weapon of choice by a number of mass shooters.
What you just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything. That could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. God have mercy on your soul. That's where we're at right now, my friends. We got a bunch of illiterate politicians.
Who, you know, they'll do anything for the soundbite if it sounds good and they think. But I mean, they probably haven't read the bill. They probably haven't read the legislation. They probably don't understand what the components of whatever it is that they're. And it's not just guns. There are plenty of examples of them passing legislation that's a bare framework and then passing that legislation off to.
Some agency or so-called experts because, well, you know, we don't have the expert. You're you're supposed to educate yourself and get the expertise and bring experts in and talk to them and build the you're not supposed to pass it off to some unelected bureau. who has a say in things that you don't know. Come on. I mean, it's... But this is what we're facing, folks, day in and day out. This is what we're facing is a group of people at the legislative level that have just no...
They have no concept of what it is, what laws that they are passing and what they're doing. They have no concept at all or even. I guess, practical knowledge about what they're legislating over what the effect is of it. I don't think they even think about it anymore.
And you could hear again, the panic in her voice when she's with Tucker Carlson's asking her, what about this barrel? You could just feel it. And you, if you watch the video, this actual video of this, you watch it, you could just see her eyes are like, well, she's, she's, she's trying. How do I get out of this? Yeah. So it's going to be it's going to be an interesting conversation. All right. Let's I'm sorry. Let I keep getting sidetracked on this saga act.
So the Saga Act is the Second Amendment Guarantee Act, which has been introduced yesterday before yesterday by Claudia Tenney, a Republican from New York. It is. It would prohibit states from enacting bans on the sale, manufacture, importation, and possession of any firearms, not prohibited under federal law. Now, it is in response. Her bill is in response to the New York Safe Act that was enacted back in 2013.
Though, if the Saga Act passed, it would essentially strike down every assault weapon ban in the country. And it is, I think this is some good stuff. Now, I am a little torn. about it because of the Federalist versus anti-Fed, you know, because they're saying, well, you can't, they're telling a state that they can't.
I'm so torn on this because, again, I wanted the states to be little Petri dishes of experimentation. But at the same time, I don't want my rights infringed. This is a hard one. I don't know. Has anybody else ever been faced? Has anybody else ever? considered that, that they they like to see the limited power of the federal government and the power of, you know, they want to see more hands stuff in the hands of the people in the state. But at the same time, they don't want to.
They don't want to lose their rights inside their own state. Have any of you felt that way? I just don't know. All right, we'll talk a little bit more about the SAFE Act when we come back. I don't know where Rob Pincus is. We'll have to, I guess we'll have to reschedule again. I mean, you know, it's... All right, we'll be back with more Don't Go Anywhere, The Michael Duke Show, Common Sense, Liberty-based, free-thinking radio. We return right after this. Don't Go Anywhere. Ghost guns!
Running on 100% pure beard power. Oh, also some coffee. We dip our beard in coffee. Ha, nice beard. The Michael Duke Show. All right. Don't forget about the hot toddy. Okay. Hopefully that's the last time I have to hear that. Which part? Rick, which part are you talking about? I mean, I want to know. What was the... I've got some of my... You know, if we could just figure out... No, I've got all my little quotes here.
Well, I mean, I would just say, hey, Joe, instead of saying no, we can't, let's say yes, we can. Okay, that one could go away, I guess. That's the go away. It was a foolish thing for me. We want to ban assault weapons, and they want to ban books. While you try to create safe and welcoming places where our children can learn, extremists attack our freedom to live safe.
from gun violence. We need reasonable gun safety laws. There is no reason why we have assault weapons on the streets of a civil society. They are weapons of war. They are designed to kill a lot of people quickly. And it is a false choice to suggest you are... in favor of the Second Amendment or you want to take everyone's guns away. I am in favor of the Second Amendment and I believe we need to reinstate the assault weapons ban.
Anyway, it's it's interesting. It's interesting. I got to clean up my got to clean up all my quote bar here. But that Biden one's going to stay that one in the Durban one. The Durban one is. The Durbin one is that, you know, can we all agree that that's the last time you play cackle soundtrack? Oh, man, you don't like the cackle? Yes, we can. No, I won't do that again. I loved it.
But, I mean, you know, the Durbin and the Schumer, the Brace, the McCarthy quote, those are some of my favorites. Those are some of my favorites right there. Absolutely. Um, what are some of the other good, I mean, there's, there's some dynamite. Oh, my wife sent me the Johnny Cash ones. Uh, did you, the. How much time do I got? You're going to play that crap again in about six months just to agitate us, aren't you, says Rick? Probably. Probably.
I won't play the Kamala thing because it's just she's, I mean, she's gone. She's toast. In fact, let me just watch this. Can I just eject? Eject. Eject. Should I eject the cackle or should I keep the cackle? All right. I'll eject the cackle. All right. Buy back. Okay. Violate privacy. And that's it. Okay. All right. Just ejected a bunch of them from the thing. All right. I thought it was a comedy show, said Chris. Yeah. I feel like it's a violation of my privacy and my family's privacy.
This show is a violation of your privacy. I guarantee you this show, this whole show is a violation of your privacy. All right. Look at that. I cleaned up my whole button bar. All right. What was I saying? I don't know. I've lost the plot. Sorry, guys. I lost the plot. My brain is full of stuff. Reject the cackle. I took the cackle off. I took the cackle off. That was just BS. I mean, I left some of the other stuff on there, but you know, I mean. I wear two pins today. Oh, not that one.
This one, right? Nope, this one right here. The greed and the entitlement is astounding to me. Yeah, I mean, that's what we need right now. We just need some murder guns. right murder guns just in case you need it later hang on to the cackle oh god i just why why would i need it later you know uh i don't i don't know
All right, we're going to continue on here. Appreciate you guys coming in and joining us. Willie Waffle is going to be joining us here in about 20 minutes or so. Let's get to it. The Michael Duke Show, Common Sense Radio. What the hell is an assault weapon? You know, if we could just figure out how to get all of the murder guns and the attack guns and not keep selling those to people and just sell protection guns, I think that would be great and solve a lot of problems.
Does this mean that if we hurt your feelings, you'd consider The Michael Dukes Show assault radio? Okay, we can live with that. Here's Michael Dukes. Yeah, I mean, you know, no murder guns. I don't own a single murder gun. I mean, that probably surprises some of you. But no, I mean, they're all protection guns. Intentionally. I'm intentionally running nothing but protection guns. That's just that's how we roll around here. OK, so we're continuing on this discussion about the Saga Act.
The Saga Act nullifies New York's Unconstitutional Safe Act and prevents other states from enacting laws that violate the Second Amendment, says the bill's sponsor, Claudia Tenney. who is a Republican from New York. This legislation upholds our country's founding principles of protecting the right of law-abiding Americans, even from liberal states with anti-gun policies. See, that's the problem.
is that we still need to be free and clear in our possessions, passages, and, you know, in our persons as we transit from one side of the country to the other. So they shouldn't be able to, you know, to do this. Republican Representative Nick Langworthy, also a New York Republican, was one of the first co-sponsors of the Saga Act, declaring in a press release...
No matter how hard radical Democrats in Albany attempt to limit lawful gun ownership, the New York congressional delegation will stand firm to protect law abiding New Yorkers and manufacturers in protecting their constitutional rights. Here's part of the problem. The SAFE Act in New York has got a compliance rate that is so abysmal. The SAFE Act was passed in 2013.
sandy hook thing right i mean that was the part of the whole thing with this safe act i mean they you know but they have barely had i think they're still i think the last time i checked it was a single digit they were like at seven percent or something compliance or maybe that was the Connecticut Act and the other one was, one is at like 11 and one is at like six or seven, is what they estimate the compliance is at. Because people are like, we're not breaking the law.
Why are you penalizing us? Why are you? Why? So the compliance is zero, right? So this law, I mean, you might as well pass this law anyway because people are just ignoring it. They're just ignoring the SAFE Act. But Cam Edwards over at Bearing Arms goes on to say that given the slim majorities in both the House and the Senate, Tenney's bill is going to face the same challenges.
as every other two-way bill in Congress where votes tend to fall upon party lines. Still, it's possible that the Saga Act could be included in future reconciliation bills. which just require a simple majority. And if the Supreme Court decides not to grant cert to the Snope case out of Maryland in the weeks ahead, there's two cases. There's Snope, which is Maryland, and then there's the other one out of Delaware, which I've forgotten the name of.
Gonzalez? I can't remember. But if they decide not to grant cert to those cases, Tenney's legislation should become a top priority for congressional Republicans. The gun control lobby wants to make 2025 the year of the semi-auto ban. We're already seeing it. We're seeing it in Colorado. Every town's out there in New Mexico, Virginia, and now Rhode Island. They're trying to help defend those lands, and they're trying to ban all semi-automatics.
Again, in Colorado, they're not even pretending anymore. Right. It's not even there's no pretense of this. It's just like, hey. We're going to ban anything that recycles itself, that reloads itself. Even if SCOTUS does hear... the Snope case or the Delaware case, Tenney's bill should be on the scorecard. They should be pushing it.
I mean, I would love to see a six to three majority that overturns the whole New York's, you know, the concealed carry, the assault weapons ban and all the other other other kind of infringements that are going on. But there's no guarantee. that John Roberts or Amy Coney Barrett is going to jump on and side with the prohibition. We just don't know. You hope. But Tenney's bill would be a good...
That would be a good, I think Edwards called it a backstop. Yep, it would be a valuable backstop in the short term. I think that would be fantastic. So the Saga Act. The Second Amendment Guarantee Act. So we should be reaching out to. We're going to be reaching. We should be reaching out to. Nick baggage and talking with him about it and you should be, you know, encouraging him to reach out and support this one major bill, the saga act. So we'll see.
This one and the HUSH Act, right? Not the HUSH, but the Hearing Protection Act, the HPA, right? Which is HR 404. That's what I'm saying. HR 404, for sure. Well... Gun control advocates are always trying to tell us that if only we had one more law, if only we had one more restriction on firearms. That, you know, that would solve it. It would be entirely possible to respect the right to keep and bear arms, and we would fix the criminal problem if only we had one more law. Of course.
Those restrictions never impact criminals because, well, they're criminals, right? That's what they're saying. And... They usually criminals don't even bother to go to gun stores to get what they need. Right. Because, you know, why bother? Except except when they do go to gun stores. as being reported in CBS News Pittsburgh.
Police are investigating after a Bethel Park store was broken into early Monday morning. Bethel Park police and forensics units from Allegheny County were on the scene at the Allegheny Arms and Gunworks store located in the Millennium shops along. Library Road in Bethel Park. According to the ATF special agent, we know that four suspects broke into the business and removed the firearms. The amount of firearms is undetermined at this time.
Police said the break-in happened before 4.30 a.m. and they didn't waste any time. The ATF agent went on to say they were probably in the store for under four minutes. In and out four minutes. The investigator said, and then the latest burglary, the suspect shot their way in and used hatchets to bust up display cases.
They're believed to be four white males, and they believe the vehicle used was stolen. And if you know anything, you're asked to contact the Bethel Park Police. Okay, so they were in and out. They knew exactly what they were after, right? They'd probably cased the joint. They'd probably been in there. They knew exactly what they were going for. It was, of course, it was a gun store. Pretty obvious that they were after guns.
None of those thieves filled out the 4473 or did a NICS check. They didn't talk to the clerk. They didn't do a straw purchase. They did all the stuff. They were in and out. Oh, they stole a rig to go do the crime? Wait, so one more law just wouldn't fix it out of the... Gun control is never going to work because criminals will always get their guns somewhere else or their weapons or their knives or their tools or their or their trucks. Right. From New Orleans or they'll you know, whatever it is.
You cannot legislate insanity or evil. All you're doing is harming... lawful, legal, law-abiding citizens who now have no way to defend themselves. You're never going to stop bad guys from doing bad things and getting guns. The only people that will ever be stopped are the law-abiding folks because they are law-abiding. But maybe that's who they want.
Maybe that's really who they want disarmed to begin with. Maybe that's the endgame. I don't know. Maybe that's the endgame in the long run is that they... I mean, at some point, you've got to be, like, asking the question, is that what you really want? You want law-abiding citizens disarmed? And you don't really care about disarming the criminals or taking—you don't? At some point, you've got to start asking yourself these questions.
All right, well, we got to go. Willie Waffle's coming up next. We got more coming up. The Michael Duke Show, Common Sense, Liberty-based, free-thinking radio. Back with more after this. Don't go anywhere. Streaming live every weekly morning on Facebook Live and MichaelDukesShow.com. All right. I mean.
Don't you at some point have to ask that question? Are they doing this on purpose? Is that what they're doing? Are they doing this whole thing on purpose? Like, you know, trying to disarm the citizens while knowing... Well, while trying to make it easy on the criminals, I mean, right? That's what I'm kind of asking, you know? Somebody said, you're going to regret taking those off. Oh, Rob Pincus. Rob Pincus just joined us. How long has Rob been there? Somebody should have sent me a message.
Let's grab Rob real quick just to say hi. Hey, buddy. How's it going there? Pretty good, sir. I haven't been in there too long. That was as normal. Time zone awareness was slightly off, but glad to be joining you this morning. How are you doing? Good, good, my friend. Good. I've actually got another guest coming up here in just a few minutes. I was expecting you at the top of the hour, so maybe we can just get...
No big deal. It's all good. I had plenty of stuff to talk about. Maybe we can reschedule for next week or the week after, and I'll make sure to send you a text or something ahead of time to get your time zone awareness. up to speed two or three different time zones over the next week but shot show is next week so maybe after shot show yeah uh we can chat and i'll give you my thoughts on on what i saw there and what's going on with uh
with Avidity Arms and the Personal Events Network training tour for the year and everything else. No, I'd love to do that, my friend. I know that you were planning on going to SHOT Show, and I've been kind of watching, and I wanted to see what you're – what are you excited about? We've got about two minutes here. What are you most excited about? for SHOT Show coming up.
As always, it's about the people, right? I look forward to reconnecting with people that sometimes I only see at this one event a year. Of course, I'll have plenty of people that I see throughout the year that will just high five or handshake as we are running back and forth to meetings with. 50 other thousand people there um product wise uh i want to check out the way that glock is integrating that new uh aim point optic on their uh their special
be what they call it, but their new integration where it's the first time Glock has a metal sight, an actual rear sight worth keeping on the gun. And it's good because that rear sight now keeps the optic on the gun. So I'm excited about that just to check it out, see how they're doing it.
That might be a future trend. I don't know. And on another Glock topic, I'm interested in looking at the chassis subsystem that Ruger and Magpul have on their... you know i guess it's it's kind of a clone a lot of people are calling it a glock right right uses a
a sub chassis it's it's not exactly a clone so that'll be interesting to check out as well yeah no the magpul one i mean i was definitely i'm looking at it and i'm thinking man this thing it looks very interesting uh somebody called it a glock killer and i was like okay well i mean i'm all about More competition and more innovation. So whatever brings it to the table, let's do it.
Yeah, and I think that that sub-chassis system might lend itself well to the private gun-making world. And of course, 3D printed guns, utilizing that chassis system, we might see some really cool designs if it is as... functional as i think at the price point it's at because right now the cigs with their chassis obviously are uh just buying that that one trigger unit uh cost almost as much as this ruger complete firearm right right
Yeah, so we'll definitely have to see how the price component goes. So, yeah, maybe we'll get with you in a couple weeks and you can give us an after-action review, an after-action report from what happened in SHOT Show. That would be fantastic.
That sounds great. Well, have a great weekend. Sorry I was late, but I'm glad I got to say hi anyway. It's good to talk with you, my friend. It's all good. Thanks very much. We'll revisit here in a couple weeks. Thanks for coming on board. Rob Pincus, Personal Defense Network, Avidity Arms. and so much more a part of the program here this morning. All right. Let me go back to, I mean, you know, I didn't see that here. Magpul. Magpul? Magplock? What?
What? Somebody said, you're going to be mad that you deleted those because you're... You're going to regret deleting all those because you'll have the opportunity to use them again. Oh, I mean, I still have the actual audio. I just took it off my shortcut bar. I still have it. It's still there. I could still go back to it. But, you know, if I really wanted to pull it up, I can. I don't throw anything away from that. Trust me. Trust me right there.
Um, that's where that protection gun thing came from. That thing was that I have, I've had that in my, in my audio folder for years. So there you go. All right. Stupidity of gun control as a concept can be easily seen in the background check when you fill out to buy a gun with questions like, are you a fugitive from justice?
Or are you going to illegally sell this to somebody else on the form? These people actually think criminals are going to do that background check and answer honestly. Well, the worst part is that sometimes they do, Anthony. Sometimes... They do. That's the problem. Sometimes they do. So it is what it is. I'm looking. Ban the cackle. Ban the cackle. All right, here we go. Let's get to it. The Michael Duke Show.
Okay, it's the weekend. Oh, man. I'm going to take some time off this weekend, I guarantee you. I guarantee you. Not like Willie, who's going to take Monday off, because he's a slacker. going to watch the inauguration or whatever. All right. Anyway, Willie Waffle, wafflemoves.com, comes in to join us this morning and tell us what's going on. Hello, my friend. What be the haps? What's going on with you? I love being lazy.
I am so looking forward to Monday off. Oh my God. That, you know, I just, there are times when I'm laying in my bed under my blankets. I'm like, This is where I want to be the rest of my life. The rest. Well, the rest of your life, that is a little lazier than I expected. I was thinking just the rest of today, you know, but that's okay. The rest of my life. All right, my friend. Well, we got lots of stuff to cover today.
The fires continue to create all kinds of problems. I mean, we got Oscar season. We got the Critics' Choice Award. We got the Grammys. Tell me what's going on. Yeah, you know, the biggest thing that's going on in Hollywood right now are the fires that are broken out all over Los Angeles. And it is having a massive impact on everything that's happening in Los Angeles.
And so, you know, we've talked a lot about, you know, the people who have lost their homes and things of that nature. And it's horrible. And it's impacting the business of Hollywood as well today. Today. was supposed to be the day that they announced the Oscar nominees. But that all got thrown out. You know, when the fires first broke out last week, they decided that they, first of all, they were in the middle of voting.
for the Oscar nominees. So that was pushed until Sunday, and they were going to announce the nominees on Tuesday. And then things got worse and worse. So now they've pushed, you know, like... the voting it's been pushed all over the place i mean it got pushed to like this friday and then they were going to announce the nominees on on sunday morning and now they've pushed that to two to wait i'm sorry thursday so thursday
The 23rd, we will have hopefully the nominations of the Oscars announced. And, you know. And there's even people talking that maybe they're going to cancel the Oscars this year. Now, I don't think that's going to happen. I don't think that's going to happen. I think, to be honest with you, I think Hollywood needs the Oscars more than ever this year. You know, it needs them to bring some normalcy.
back to hollywood and by well by the time we get to march that's what they're going to be looking for yeah they're like what's left over right exactly yeah what's going on yeah yeah you know and and i think people don't understand that you know yes on on one level We are delaying things and canceling things because it's just a decent thing to do. But there's another level. The businesses that serve a lot of these events have lost their business.
The employees have lost their homes. I mean, you just logistically cannot do a lot of these things. And that's why you've seen a lot of delays. I'll talk about the Critics' Choice Awards. This is one I'm familiar with. I vote on the Critics' Choice Awards. This was supposed to take place last Sunday in Hollywood, specifically in Santa Monica.
couldn't do it because the fires broke out very close to the venue where they were going to be having the awards. And they got delayed. They were originally delayed. until the 26th. Now they're pushed into an undetermined day in February. So that's going to happen. The Grammys are undergoing a great deal of changes right now.
They are supposed to be held on February 2nd, and they're holding strong. They say that they're still going to do the Grammys, but... it's going to have more of a charitable uh uh aspect right you know it's going to be more about hey Let's play some songs and please call this number here to give money to the Red Cross. Things like that. They're going to do a special honoring of the first responders. They're going to do some really nice things. And along the way, a lot of the traditional...
Grammy events are getting canceled. A lot of the... The parties and the celebrations and the artist features that happen the week of the Grammys, you know, where they have these showcases for these up and coming artists. They're not going to do that this year. Right. So you're going to see that impact in a lot. lot of ways. And, you know, I didn't know if I wanted to bring it up, but the biggest delay of all, Meghan Markle had to delay her Netflix cooking show until March.
or cooking show because you know people would be like Is that Meghan Markle cooking? Is that what's going on? She has a Netflix show on Netflix called With Love, Meghan, which, I mean, come on. Who the actual heck is? I mean, what? Meghan Markle.
okay yes delay that show sister do you delay it sister we are with you in solidarity yes we you i'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that every show that her and prince harry i guess you can't call him prince anymore but her and harry have have produced for netflix has been a complete and utter bomb yeah like literally netflix is regretting the fact that they signed them to this big multi-million dollar deal. The things that they're producing are getting like...
broad viewership at best. And this is the last chance. Like, literally, this is their last chance. And so if Meghan Markle doesn't transform herself into, you know, I don't know, Martha Stewart. They're done. Yeah. They're done. She's got to be a Rachel Ray clone or something. Yeah. I mean, this is what happens when you sign people based on celebrity, right? I mean, it's just, you know, it was just like, there's nothing there, folks. Nobody. Oh, America.
loves the royals except they're not royal anymore so it doesn't really matter yeah they walked away from all that and i don't care and i don't i don't even care i was like i look around at people and sometimes my wife starts talking about it i'm like Who cares? They're British. They're British royalty. We fought a war over those guys. Screw those guys.
They could go pound sand for all I care. Anyway. Yeah. All right. So Meghan Markle, The Weeknd delayed his release of his new album. Beyonce delayed it. I mean, this whole thing. And the Rose Bowl has been. It's canceled. Well, not the Rose Bowl. The weekend was going to do a big launch concert at the Rose Bowl, and it has delayed it. I think, I can't remember. I think November or something. It's some very long time down the road. Yeah. So, and of course they.
Nobody knows what's going to happen in a week because they still don't have a significant portion of this thing under control. No, they do not. But... There is hope out there, my friends. There's hope. Okay. This is where I go. This is where I go back to being sarcastic. Okay. The future president. And former President Donald Trump announced yesterday that he has selected three special ambassadors. Okay.
to hollywood okay three special ambassadors to hollywood we gotta have hollywood ambassadors in our own country to our own yeah yes yeah yes they are mr john voight Okay. They are Mr. Sylvester Stallone. Ooh. Okay. And they are Mr. Mel gibson wow and yep and so the idea here and and trump has in his administration have spoken out about this
They're very worried that a lot of the Hollywood production has left Hollywood and left the United States. You know, a lot of production happens in Vancouver, Canada. It happens in Eastern Europe. And he has said that he wants these three people to have their ear to the ground. He wants to hear from Hollywood. How can we solve this? What help do you need to make Hollywood great again? And so.
There's been talk that maybe the federal government would have some sort of federal tax breaks and tax incentives in place to induce more production in Hollywood as they are used in other states and other countries. That's all we need. Yeah, and honestly, I could see this expanding. I mean, I could see them also. Well, no, but I could also see them saying, listen, you know, you know what we're really worried about? A ton of the city just burned down. Right, right.
Can the government help with that? And I think you're going to see that. And I think you're going to see ways that the federal government is going to try to reach out and try to help them rebuild and help them restore the glamour and the dream. of Hollywood.
Well, I mean, it would be nice to bring all that stuff home. And, uh, but of course, you know, they also made their own beds. So I'm not, you know, I'm not, not, I'm not criticizing. I'm just saying, you know, you, it's your thing. You got to lie in it sometimes. So, but we'll see. I mean, with those. ambassadors, it could be a very interesting thing. Mel Gibson, John Voight, and Sylvester Stallone. I mean, wow, that's a powerhouse. All right.
Uh, let's move over to, we got about four minutes here. So let's, let's talk about, um, you got three different things. The Wolfman in theaters, Unstoppable on Amazon Prime, and A Real Pain, which is a Hulu. movie. What dealer's choice? You take them in whatever order you want here. I'll lead off with A Real Pain, which is premiered on Hulu yesterday. And a lot of you didn't realize it was in theaters a few months ago because it was one of these movies that wasn't playing in a lot of theaters.
They were hoping they would get some Oscar buzz, and they're getting tons of it with frontrunner co-star Kieran Culkin. And so you've got Kieran Culkin and Jesse Eisberg. They're these two cousins who have grown up together, and their grandmother has passed away. And they always promised they would go back to Poland. They would go see her old hometown, her old home, and remember her and the life that she had.
I'm sorry, as a Jew who was captured in a concentration camp and eventually came to America and started their life and started their family. in america and and you know it's not a movie about story it's really about the acting and it's about the conversations and the dialogue and that's why kieran culkin is getting an oscar nomination and frankly might just win because he's amazing i mean he just has
So many levels to this character, this charming scamp. He lives day by day. He's got passion. He's got excitement. He's also bipolar. And we see the negative sides and the downsides of him and the reasons why maybe he's kind of. stuck in life and that part is fascinating to watch and that's what makes it a three waffle movie all right a real pain on hulu uh what's next Then let's talk about unstoppable. This is our Amazon prime movie again.
another movie that played in theaters and you never saw it because they were really hoping they would get some Oscar nominations this week. And that's why I thought Amazon Prime this week. Not a bad movie. Excuse me. It is the true story of Anthony Robles. He is a man who was born with one leg but dreamed of being a collegiate wrestling champion. And so it is that traditional.
feel good, extremely satisfying, and extremely predictable movie where he's going to overcome all the odds and all the obstacles in front of him. to become this inspirational character and that's nice to watch and you know and there's the rough side seeing him growing up having you know a rotten stepfather played by bobby cannavale yeah we see his mother jennifer lopez dealing with the struggles in their life and they give her a lot of story
too i'm at two and a half waffles you know it is satisfying you were cheering for this guy the whole time and you know what i think i probably enjoyed it more on prime video than i would have if i went to the theater okay yeah because you know you paid less and you can pause it to go to the bathroom so you're happy exactly exactly this is the big one wolfman in theaters um i heard some wild stuff about this give me the rundown here we got about uh we got about two and a half minutes
Okay, so Universal, years and years ago, decided that they wanted to kind of resurrect a lot of their classic horror characters, and a la the Avengers, maybe bring them all together. And started with the Invisible Man back in... February of 2020. See where I'm going with this? Invisible Man was a fantastic movie that not a lot of people saw because COVID hit. And nobody went to the movies. And, you know, it was that big dark period.
But, you know, they decided to keep moving forward. And now we have the wolf man. And here we have this man, Christopher Abbott. He's the father of a child. And he's got his wife, played by Julia Garner from Ozark. And he wants them to move back out into the country, back to the old cabin where he used to live with his father. And while they're on their way, there's a mysterious figure. There's a car accident.
the father gets scratched. And as they run back to the house to avoid being captured by this horrible, horrible demon or whatever it is, well, daddy's starting to change. He's starting to... He's got fur where he never had fur before. His eyesight is changing. Why? You could say he's almost becoming animalistic. Okay. All right. Look, I know that they've been talking about this for quite a while. They've been talking about, you know, that wanting to do it.
um they did the invisible man and didn't they didn't tom cruise do the mummy or something which was another one yes he did the mummy which was supposed to be part of all this as well yeah and it bombed but Yeah, it did not go well. And then this went okay. I mean, you know, I mean, listen, you know, there's not a lot of, it's not CGI driven. And so like a lot of it is watching this guy change and they do a lot with prosthetics and makeup.
OK, but I think the CGI would have looked really cooler and could have been done better if they wanted to spend the money on it. You know, they do this thing where we're supposed to be seeing from his point of view. And we know how much he's changing because. We see his eyesight becoming more wolf-like and red-tinged. He doesn't recognize his family anymore and stuff like that, which is interesting. But, you know, I think that they could have ratcheted up.
some of the danger they could ratchet up some of the action I have it like two waffles. It's not the worst thing you'll ever see. All right. Well, we'll keep an eye out on it. We are out of time for today, though. Willie, thanks for coming on board and joining us. We appreciate it, folks. We will see you on Monday with the ladies from Community Connection. and whatever else I dig up. Be kind, love one another, live well.
Okay, sorry about that, Willie. I just looked over and realized we were almost out of time. So, I mean, that just sounds like meh. I mean, you say two and a half, but it sounds kind of meh. It's kind of the brooding version of the wolf man. We're supposed to get into the inner psyche of this troubled man. A man who has a temper problem already. You know, a man who doesn't want to be like his horrible father as he tries to...
He's his kid. And, you know, and they get into a lot of the psychological stuff. Right. Don't we want to see the scares more than we want to see the psychology? I mean, that's where, you know. That's why I compare it to The Invisible Man. The Invisible Man was a totally different story and made it so shocking and so perilous. because the invisible man turned out to be a horrible stalker and was stalking this poor woman.
And so we had that visceral reaction that we're afraid for her. We want her to survive. We're cheering when she's fighting back. And I don't feel like you get that here in The Wolfman. Not as much. I mean, Julia Garner does it decently. job i mean yeah at some point she's gonna have to go mama bear on everybody and you know that's gonna come and you know it's gonna happen and it's interesting to watch but you know i i think it's it's a little bit too subdued
for not only just horror movies, but modern horror movies. Okay. All right. Well... I guess we'll keep an eye on it. Poor Ryan Gosling is a producer. He could have picked a winner. You know why? Yeah. You know why? They originally wanted him to be the Wolfman. Oh. He was originally going to be the Wolfman and COVID hit. And that's caused all sorts of delays and all sorts of production issues. And he ended up falling out of the movie. He was going to be the Wolfman.
That would have been interesting. And it's a Blumhouse joint. So, I mean, it would have been, you know, you know, it's I'm I'm I'll reserve judgment until I watch it. I like Blumhouse films. I think he does a good job. All right, Willie. Well, anything else before I let you go today? I'm ready to go hit the road. No, that's it. Next week, we're going to see Marky Mark, baby. Marky Mark? We're going to see Marky Mark, yeah. What's he doing?
Marky Mark Wahlberg, he's going to be in, I think it's called Flight Risk, where a passenger on board the plane is being taken to a mafia trial, but not everybody on the plane is who you think they are. Snakes on a plane? No, no, no, no. This is mafia on a plane. All right. Thanks, thanks. All right, Willie. Well, thanks so much. I appreciate it, my friend. It's good to talk with you. Okay, folks, we're out of time. We'll see you Monday. Be kind. Love one.
another live well we'll see you then have a great day And now we are slimy lizard internet people. It's the Michael Duke Show.
