Welcome to the party, pal. The Michael Duke Show. I have two gums. One for each of you. Firearms Friday. As Thomas Jefferson stated, it is the right and duty of the people to be at all times armed. Say hello to my little friend! I say that the Second Amendment is, in order of importance, the First Amendment. The right to keep and bear arms is the one right that allows rights to exist at all.
The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Not be infringed. Firearms from my cold, dead hands. Farms Friday. They call me Mr. Dukes around here. Hello, it's the Michael Duke Show. Good morning. How are you? Are you ready to go? It's Friday. Stand by for news. Heh heh heh heh. Man, I tell you what, it is a good day to be alive, my friends. Just another beautiful day here in paradise. Broadcasting live from on top of the world down here in beautiful Homer, Alaska. 32.
Sparkling degrees outside the old radio ranch here as we get ready to dive into one of our favorite. One of our favorite topics. It is Firearms Friday, a chance to sound off on issues of a 2A nature. to talk about guns and the Second Amendment and gun rights and laws and everything that's happening with the one national issue that I seem to really care about. Well, I mean, I care.
I care. I care about a lot of national issues, but I don't always cover them because, you know, why? What's the what's the point? But gun rights. They got some tendrils. They got some feelers. There's some repercussions and ramifications with firearms rights. So we're going to dive into this here and talk about it this morning. What do we, what do we, what do we got? Well, let's see. We have got some stories, including one that I'm, I'm, I'm a little, I'm concerned. I am.
concerned. I've talked about it for a long time. And it's something that we've been worried about since the last Trump administration. And that is his commentary on red flag laws. And the fact that he would take the guns and worry about due process later. Right. That came out right after the Parkland shooting, his conversation with law enforcement and, you know. I was a little hesitant, a little worried. Then I nominated Pan Bondi as the attorney general and her track record.
is was OK, except for gun laws. And she was the attorney general of Florida during the whole Parkland thing. And she was in favor and she was a champion of red flag laws and changing the age. of purchase and many other things and i'm seriously concerned about her as well now she's she she may have assuaged some of those fears but yesterday
We there's been a video that's been floating around the Internet of the president and Pam Bondi talking specifically about red flag laws. And it may be all your worst nightmares come true. We're going to talk about it in a minute. We're going to talk about that in a minute. Don't forget, at the end of the show today, we're going to talk with Willie Waffle from wafflemovies.com. And we'll have the weekend movie review and so much, so much more.
So we're going to finish things up in a lighter note with all the entertainment stuff. And then probably... I mean, I should have done it before I got started on the show, but I'm a horrible radio host. So I will also, during the commercial break here, we'll turn the phones on and we'll start taking phone calls after the break. As well. So if you want to if you want to sound off on anything that's gun related today, well, then now is the time to do it. And the whole point of Firearms Friday.
essentially was to help demystify the firearm, was to help, you know, to counteract some of the narrative. It's kind of Firearm Friday is kind of the counterculture for. The mainstream media and the talking heads and the entertainment industry and everybody who paints firearms as a as a, you know, some kind of. knuckle-dragging, troglodytic group of folks who just...
Can't get with the program. I've been watching and I've been talking about this for a while now with Willie. And so a lot of you may know, but I've been I've been watching the show Criminal Minds. I'd never seen it before. And but I like I like Joe Mantegna. I like Thomas.
Oh, I can't remember his last name. Anyway, there's some actors in it that I liked, and I was like, you know, we should watch this. It ran for quite a while, and I'd never seen an episode, so we decided to start watching it. Now, the show is, I think it started off in 2008. or something like that, 2007. And so we've been watching through it. And I had to laugh because...
A couple of seasons ago, this would have been a few weeks back because I'm watching like one episode a night or something after dinner before I go to bed. But there was an episode where it had a bunch of folks in. I don't know, it was Idaho or Montana or something. And there was a group of people who were.
I don't know, they weren't sovereign citizens or something, but it just seems like every time they talk, every time and every time you get a show that deals with average citizens who have armed themselves for their own protection. It treats them as if they were, you know, paranoid morons or some kind of. wackadoo sovereign citizen movement people or something. You know, it's always a demeaning viewpoint on...
that average law-abiding citizen who would want to carry a gun and defend themselves. I mean, even how many of these shows treat just average homeowners, right, who may keep a gun at home. to protect themselves in their own home, not carrying it out and about, not taking it on the street, just, you know, they may have a gun in the bed nightstand to protect themselves. And, of course, they always paint the picture of the people.
who have those guns at home as if they're some kind of inept, you know, oh, you'll shoot the babysitter or Johnny doesn't know what he's doing and his gun is taken and used against him. You know, I mean, some of these things, there's some truth. Some of these things do happen. happen, but it's very rare. And in fact, talking about defensive gun use in America, there is a huge amount of defensive gun use across the country.
And they classify DGU as any time a firearm is used to prevent a crime. And while it's horrific that there are. You know that there are murders across the U.S. and there's gun what they call gun violence or crimes involving firearms. What if you want to be a little bit more specific? The fact that in a country of three hundred and thirty million people. that, you know, our homicide rate is still down into the 12 to 14,000 range.
Each one individually is a tragedy. I'm not saying that they're not, but that's a pretty low number. And then you consider the number of defensive gun uses, which even at the lowest, even at the, it was the Harvard Business School did a study on this. a few years back. And again, not a conservative bastion of free thinking thought, the old Harvard school there.
And even their calculations put the numbers of defensive gun uses around the country somewhere in the hundred thousand range, which is, I mean, again, every other study has showed that it is somewhere upwards of. It's in the millions. It's somewhere around two million times a year. And most of the times that a gun is used to stop a crime, a shot is never fired. It's the mere presence of the firearm.
That's that stopped it. You know, somebody is trying to rob somebody. Somebody pulls a gun and stops them. And the criminal flees because, you know, they don't like prey that fights back. They don't want to lose their life. And so this is the narrative that we're trying to combat here on the program, is that, no, it's not like you see on TV. Most people... who decide to protect themselves and their loved ones.
If they decide to get a gun, they take all the precautionary measures that they need to. They get a gun safe. More than likely, they've gotten some form of basic training. Not everybody. Some people treat it like it's some kind of mystical totem that, well, now I have the gun, now I'm safe, which is stupidity. All right? We've talked about that on this program before. If you're going to buy a gun, it's an investment.
And it's the rule of three. So if you're going to buy a gun, you should expect to spend about three times the cost of that gun overall in preparedness. So you buy the gun, the gun's 500 bucks. You should expect to spend $500 on good quality accessories for your firearm. And that means if you're carrying it every day, that it should be a good, a good solid holster. You know, you should get some training materials, snap caps, extra magazines, cleaning kit, you know, maybe one of those fancy.
X laser pointer targeting practice things, right? Where you empty the gun and you put the rod in it and you shoot at your cell phone across the room to check your aim and do stuff like that. And then the third of the three $500 tranches goes to training. And that could be a concealed carry firearms course.
which should be a minimum if you're going to go out and get concealed, even if you don't apply for the license, because it informs you of all the different laws and the use of force, and it explains a lot of things to you. but also maybe a combat pistol course or some other more advanced form of training. Most people understand that.
And they get some at least some basic form of training when they buy their firearm. But of course, what's portrayed on television is usually dad's some inept idiot who's got, you know, no, he's trying to replace the lack of hair on his chest by buying a gun. and making himself feel manly. This is all the undertones of what's going on.
And so now he's going to protect his wife and his kids or whoever, and he's going to go out there. He's never actually held the gun before, except for when he brought it home from the store and put it in his drawer. And now he's going to be more of a danger to himself and others. That's how they portray. Gun owners in the mainstream, you know, TV and news stories and the soaps, the television shows and the, you know, my stories. That's how they do it.
And we're here to counteract that. Are there people like that? Absolutely there are people like that. But they are not the lion's share of them. Most people understand that. if they're going to, especially something that they have never used before or are not familiar with, they're probably going to go get some basic safety training to get it done. And of course, those of us that were raised around firearms.
I mean, some of us may have some bad habits. Some of us may not be as proficient as John Wick, but... we at least have some idea of what's going on. And many of us have continued our training throughout the years because it's enjoyable and it's the right thing to do. So that's the whole point here. And that is what we are trying to counteract with Firearms Friday. We're trying to explain to people why it is important for us to continue to protect.
encourage and to embrace the Second Amendment and why it gets so frustrating when we see the overreaching arches of government trying to come in and take over that kind of stuff. Now, this is why I have been so hot to trot on this issue over President Trump.
that um he's done he did it you know his first term he did some good things he did some bad things the things that the one thing that raised the hackles on the back of my neck was after parkland when he sat down and said uh we should just take the guns and worry about due process later when he was talking about people who may have had some kind of red flag thrown against them or whatever else like that. And it was really, it's, it's really.
And it was really scary to kind of think this is the guy that we're going to try and bring back. And, of course, we're seeing Democrats. I mean, if it was a Democrat, it wouldn't be any big deal. Right. But here we are. And and now this video has surfaced with him and Pam Bondi and she's explaining this red flag laws and what they want to do and everything else. And people are up in arms about it. But.
Let's discuss in just a moment. That's called The Hook, by the way. It's going to bring you back after the break. So you're going to sit through the commercial break and then you're going to come back and you're going to go, well, that was worth it. You hope it was worth it. You hope it was worth it. All right, we're going to go. Don't go anywhere. The Michael Duke Show, common sense, liberty-based, free-thinking radio. We return with more in just a moment. Back right after this.
If you missed the show, you can listen to it on your time with Duke's On Demand. Oh, and it's free. Like America used to be. Streaming live every weekday morning on Facebook Live and MichaelDukesShow.com. Okay, we are in the commercial break now. this is as good of opportunity as ever for me to go ahead and turn the phones on which i should have done before we got started but i didn't because well i'm a horrible person have you not heard horrible
Horrible. I'm actually awesome. But don't tell anybody. Don't tell anybody. I just got into what I was doing and I forgot. That's how it works around here. Okay. I got to push some buttons and then it's going to blast my volume out of control for a second. So I'm going to kind of try and be quiet here so that the podcast folks, I should just cut all this out for the podcast. That's what I'll do. Just suffer in silence for a minute.
hold still i'll be right back this thing is taking forever no really forever there it is okay here we go Okay. Thanks for calling the call in line of the Michael Duke show. Stop. Stop with that voice. All right. I got it. It's all fixed. I haven't even had any coffee this morning or monster. Nothing. Wow. Um, good morning. Um,
And hates children. And I hate children. Possibly. Possibly. Chris says, whoops, just jumped. The whole thing just jumped. Here we go. Chris says, Bonanza was the best pro-gun television show. There's been a few that have been pretty good over the years that has not been too bad. Let's see. Terry says, FYI, Al Sharpton is calling for Blackout Friday. Spend no money to crash the economy today. It's Al Sharpton. Who's going to listen to him?
That guy is like the original race hustler out there. Crazy. But, you know, you do you, Al. Good morning, good morning, good morning. Hey, Dad. My dad's out here. I love my dad. I love my dad and my mom. They're so far away now. We'll get a chance to see them here in a couple weeks. Let's see. Let's see. I'm still scrolling through some of this. I was never raised around firearms, says Cindy. Come on. Show the comment. Wow. There we go.
I was never raised around firearms and didn't learn to use one until my 30s. We taught our girls and never had to lock them up. They knew the rules. Never had to lock up my guns just for securing them after we were done, you know, but I never had to worry about my kids pawing through guns and... Because, again, we taught them well. Never had to worry about that. Any noteworthy audience members this morning? Well, hey, Harold, you're here, so.
That must make it noteworthy. Brian just said, you reading the comments during the commercials is a nice touch in the podcast. We can relive funny moments. I mean, I just do it because I love to engage with you guys. And I'm not reading the comments usually while I'm talking because I can't do things at one time. And so it's one of those things. But it's great.
From a station in Seattle broadcast over an Alaskan station? What? I don't know what you're talking about, Willie. I'm a little confused there. Beverly Hillbillies was also an excellent pro-gun show. They're so few and far between. I mean, they really are. The pro-gun shows are so few and far between that it's hard to...
It's hard to to get into, you know, to to even remember which ones they were at this point. All right. I got I just realized I forgot to drag something else over here. Let me grab this real quick. and i'll put that there and i'll put that there use okay we've been all right okay here we go so we're gonna get into this you ready are you ready i'm gonna talk about what i'm worried about i'm worried
I'm concerned. Let's get to it. Here we go. The Michael Duke show. Common sense, liberty based, free thinking radio. Let's let's do this thing. What the hell is an assault weapon? Does that mean that if we hurt your feelings, you should consider the Michael Dukes show Assault Radio? Okay, we can accept that. Here's Michael Dukes. Kind of a dick, but somewhat funny. Well, yeah, I am kind of a, you know. What are you trying to say? All right, phone lines are open.
319-527-3864. 319-527-3864. And we're here to talk about firearms. And we will discuss with you. any topic that's related to the Second Amendment and more. 319-527-3864. So there you go. You want to get on board? Let's talk about it. OK, so, again, you know, you know me, you know, I have had some concerns about Donald Trump for the longest time. Specifically, I mean, he obviously was the better of the two choices in this election and in his last election. So, you know, you know that, you know.
You know that I had these issues. And then during his last administration, he got up and made all those comments about the Parkland shooting. And that was seriously worrying for me. Because to me, it showed that it was just another guy. Who was a dealmaker who could go into a room and read a room and tell people exactly what they wanted to hear. And it really made me concerned that his support of the Second Amendment.
was nothing more than just a patina to fool us, essentially to bamboozle us into supporting him. The art of the deal, right? I mean... This has been my concern. Then this video surfaced. This video surfaced yesterday, day before, popped up, and... I got a couple different copies of it from people, and they're like, man, your fears were, you were right. You were right. This, I mean, this is, I mean, he's not who he says he was. You were right.
And it's a video of he and Pam Bondi discussing new changes and red flag laws and everything else. Here's the audio of the exchange in this video. You said that what you found. Nope, not that one, this one. We've been rewriting it and we are going to bring in something called the gun violence restraining order. So if someone is civilly committed. And typically you can hold them for up to 72 hours, but people are getting out within 24 hours, the majority of them. So what we want to do is...
Let law enforcement come in and take the guns. They are a danger to themselves or others. Which you can't do right now. Well, because without being adjudicated. So because they are a danger to themselves. You want them to take the guns and not go through six months of legal. trials and everything exactly but we also have to give the the mentally ill the due process in which they deserve president so what we're doing is
They're going to be able to take the guns when they're taken into custody or into the hospital. And then when they're released within 24 hours or 72 hours later, typically it's 24 hours. But law enforcement will have 72 hours to determine. whether they should give those guns back or they can go to a judge and say, Your Honor, please keep these guns. We feel this person is still a danger.
to himself or others. So this would not have worked the way it's currently constituted? This would not have worked with Cruz as it's currently constituted? As it's currently written. So you're going to make changes? We're going to make changes. Okay, so I saw this, and of course my blood pressure immediately started to spike, but I said, okay, whoa, Dukes, whoa, don't get upset about it.
And I watched it several times because, you know, in this era of deep fakes, I was like, is this is this somebody having me on? Is this somebody having me on? And I was watching. No, doesn't look like a deep fake. It doesn't, you know, and I'm like, this is weird that this, you know, that he would be so strident in so many ways. And that since his assassination attempt.
He had had a true many people, many, especially those in the in the in the Second Amendment community had said he had a true, you know, conversion, you know, battlefield conversion, and that he was a true Second Amendment believer. And so I dug a little deeper because I'm like, I mean, I was just hoping, just hoping that this wasn't right. And it turns out. that this video is actually from 2018.
That this was a video that came out shortly. This was a conversation that Bondi and President Trump had shortly after the Parkland shooting. And one of the tells in it was that he asks about. who was the name of the shooter in the parkland shooting so i mean i started doing some research on this i'm like i gotta find out more about this so i started digging and it turned out that this video has resurfaced
And many people on the left have been using it to troll people on the right. Oh, you thought, in fact, the framework, the meme header. On this one, anyone who thought Trump was going to allow Americans to keep their guns is very naive. What's funny is the disarming MAGA will be the easiest part because ostensibly we're the crazy ones and we can all be red flagged, right?
This is how they framed this. And they went and this thing's been going viral. This video was six years old. She was not the attorney general of the United States at the time. She was the attorney general of Florida. He was the president. She was the attorney general of Florida and she was talking about the red flag laws that she supported at the time, which, again, was one of the reasons why we were cautious about her nomination to the.
to the attorney general position. But our fears can be put to rest, folks. I truly believe now, and I know I kind of... I know I kind of trolled you with the intro to this thinking that I was, I was worried. But the more I watched the president's actions. You know, and like I said, ever since his ever since his assassination attempt, I truly think that there was some kind of change in his mind about this, because he has been very strident about protecting the Second Amendment.
And I believe that he is going to do his best to protect and support us. Now, Pam Bondi? I believe that she is a good soldier taking marching orders. And how do I know that? Well, for a couple reasons. And how do I know that the president is really now, if not at least a true believer, going to stand behind his word and do what he's going to do? Well, that's because he is now appointed FBI Director Kash Patel as the acting head of the BATFNE, the ATF.
That's right. Not only is Kash Patel going to be the director of the FBI, he's also going to be the head of the ATF. Now, J.D. Tuccioli over at Reason Magazine writes about this. and points out that there is some good and some potential bad in this. Again, there's no perfect solution. But with the history of incompetence and abuse at the ATF.
I mean, this is an agency that ran guns to criminal gangs in Mexico, manipulated disabled people into participating in sting operations, has lost thousands of guns and gun parts, have killed people over paperwork violations. And you latter. reinterpreted laws to create new felonies out of thin air. There's no better agency for a shakeup at this point. And Patel, as the head of the FBI,
There's also a little bit of a thing in there. Merging the agencies would also give the FBI something else to pay attention to. You know, the merging might it might not be, you know, if that ATF was going to merge with the FBI. the agents might not be so single-minded in the pursuit of gun law violations that they're actually willing to make up out of thin air.
Finding black market dealers is difficult, but jamming people up over paperwork violations is a lot easier and it makes for arrests just the same. So to justify their existence, they go after people. the low-hanging fruit, as Tom Knighton over at Bearing Arms says. But again, there's a downside. With the FBI and the ATF merging, it's possible.
You could get a supercharged federal law enforcement agency. It is possible. Oh, but Kash Patel wouldn't allow it. Well, I don't think Kash Patel would let it happen, but there's another guy coming down the road. After the next election, there will always be another guy or gal that will come in. So while it might work great under Kash Patel, it may not work so great under whoever.
the next president or the president after that brings in. So we got to be cautious. But again, I think the president is taking a look at that. And finally. If you want any more proof that the president's moving in the right direction, and I've got two phone calls here on hold. I'm going to get to you callers here in just a second. But if you want any more, you know, if you were concerned about Pam Bondi, she was all the red flag. She was everything else.
Here's Bondi yesterday on Fox and Friends, or no, Fox, I don't know, America Reports or something. one of the Fox news channels talking about what they're doing inside the department of justice, including ATF and other agencies and what they are. Discovering and some of the things they're doing. This is Pam Bondi, the attorney general. You said that what you found at the Department of Justice was worse than you thought that it could possibly be.
Let me ask you, what was worse? What surprised you? And the bigger question, can you fix it? Well, we're going to fix it. That's the directive from Donald Trump. We will fix it. You know, I always thought that the worst part was within the FBI, John, but it's throughout the Justice Department. It's throughout the administration. I mean, but even within the department.
I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT THAT. I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT THAT. WE GOT RID OF THE JACK SMITH TEAM. THAT WAS A GIVEN. THE ULTIMATE WEAPONIZATION OF THE GOVERNMENT. BUT WE ALSO, YESTERDAY, I FIRED THE GENERAL COUNSEL FROM ATF. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN UNDER THIS ADMINISTRATION. AND SO WE'RE LOOKING TO HIRE REALLY GREAT PEOPLE SITTING ON MY DESK RIGHT NOW ARE ALL THE LIST OF THE NAMES OF THE U.S. ATTORNEYS WHO WE'RE GOING TO BRING IN. SO ARE WE GOING TO FIX IT? ABSOLUTELY.
She fired the general counsel at the ATF. Stop going after gun owners. Stop going after gun owners. So again, apologies to some of you who thought that I was going to be suckered in by this video. and cry to the rooftops that I had been right and that Trump was going to screw us all. This is a psyop, folks. Blue anon working overtime, says Brian. Absolutely. trying to get us stirred up. It's the only thing they can do because he's got so much winning going on.
that we're going to get sick of winning. That's what they're saying right now. All right, Robert's on the line. Let's go over and talk to Robert real quick and see what Robert has to say as we get things ready to go. Robert, what is on your mind this morning, sir? Good morning, Mike. Hey, let's remember the school principal from Wasilla that was arrested by the troopers and taken to the hospital and put on drugs because someone said
She was a danger to herself. Totally a lie. Right. And I don't even know what the end of that story is. Did the state apologize to this lady? Oh, yeah. Why do they want to do that to gun owners? Oh, someone said this about you. We're going to... arrest you, take your guns, put you in the hospital, and we don't even have the right paperwork, but we're going to arrest you anyway.
How do you deal with that? Right. No, it's you're 100 percent right that in that case, by the way, she was vindicated. And in fact, she sued the state, if I recall correctly. I don't remember what the outcome of the case was, but yeah, it was a false. It was a false call, but they came in, they got her, they arrested her or put her in custody or however they wanted to say it. And they took her to the hospital and forced her into an evaluation, all of it against her will.
And they later apologized and she's she sued the state. I don't know. And there's been several instances across the country of red flag laws. In fact, one of the first there was the first killing of a red flag law turned out that. had to do with the red flag law, turned out that the person that reported
It was that they showed up at 530 a.m. in the morning at a guy's house and he was armed and he didn't know who they were. And there ended up being a shootout and he got killed. And it turned out to be his sister-in-law or something who was. who was mad at him about something.
And that's what they did. So you're right, Robert. We've got to pay attention to this, and we've got to be paying closer attention to this whole thing. So, all right, I appreciate it. I see Fred's on the line. Fred, hold the line. We're going to be right back to you here in just a second. Don't go anywhere.
We're up against the break. We've got more coming up. The Michael Duke Show. Common Sense, Liberty-based, free-thinking radio. We'll return with more here in just a moment. Back with more Firearms Friday right after this. Running on 100% pure beard power. Oh, also some coffee. We dip our beard in coffee. Nice beard. The Michael Duke Show.
Okay, we're in the break right now. I see Fred's on the line and also Ron is on the line. Ron, I'm sorry I hung up on you accidentally here. I was trying to mute you there for a second because you were feeding back a little bit because I'd forgotten to put everybody on hold. So anyway. Hold the line here for just a second here. We'll be right back to you. We'll just do it. All right. Let me go back here and see what you –
Frank said I hooked him on that. I hooked him. I hooked him when I drew him the hook. Yeah, it's it is a you see it all the time. It is an astroturfed movement, this thing where they're now pushing these things like this video. This is why you can never take a single... You can never take a single thing that you see on the Internet as gospel. You can't take it for granted, folks. I mean, I saw that and I'm like, oh, my biggest fears are realized. But are they really?
Like I said, I watched it several times to see if I could get it. And, you know, it was just one of those things. So, I mean, I wasn't biting. I wasn't biting. Although Henry apparently bought into it hook, line, and sinker. Is your benefactor feeding you this stuff to make our president untrustworthy? Tell us that Soros bought these radio stations for you.
It's Russia all over again, this time from the Michael Duke show. Wow, Henry, you really don't pay attention to what's going on in here, do you? You really don't pay attention. No, because I mean, you know, when I saw that later on, I was thinking about it this morning. I'm like, I should just I mean, I should just act like I bought into this because a lot of people will. A lot of people will buy into this.
They don't give it any accurate thought. They don't think any deeper than any of these things. You've got to think about this. Boy, I should trim my beard, but this one thing is flying away. It's driving me crazy. All right. Brian said, I've heard that exact language from several times. Several times. MAGA will be the easiest to disarm. You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.
All right. I'm scrolling through here. What's up? Mike is suddenly going against Trump and his team. Are you even listening, Henry? Are you even listening to what's... Dude, you are so baked into your own little world of... You're not even listening to the conversation that's going on around you. You're like that kid that screams what he wants to talk about over the top of everybody else. Seriously, man, listen to what's going on.
It's, yeah. All right. Jeannie says, I'm not sick of winning yet. No, me either. It's been, it's been entertaining. Enter, entertaining for sure. Share the show, says Jeannie. Share the show. Jesus. Brian says he has it on good authority that I'm really a creation of AI. That's true. We are all living in the matrix. I mean, don't, you know, I'm a huge proponent of the simulation theory. That's, I really think that that's...
All right. I set us up. Yes, I did set you up. I'm trying to bring more of you in to talk about it. Chris says, good morning, Fred. Common sense from the East Coast is rare. That's right. We're going to jump in with Fred and Ron here as soon as we get back from this commercial break. You just said, seriously. And my phone across the room responded. Siri, dial the Michael Duke show. Oh, oh, what just happened? What just happened?
At least I didn't say, Alexa, is Michael Dukes an AI simulation? Now, some of you who have Alexas are trying to figure that out. All right. Oh, man. All right. We're about to rejoin here. Henry says, thanks for clearing that up. Kudos to you for free thinking aloud. If I wasn't free thinking, Henry, I probably would have booted you out of the show a long time ago. But my brother, my brother, you got to listen to what we're talking about in the show.
Right? You got to listen to what we're talking about in the show. That's what we say. Yes, just a hint of intellect. I have just a hint of intellect. Just a pinch. All right, we're going to continue on here. We're rejoining in 15 seconds. Fred's on the line. Ron's on the line. I'm on the line.
My life is on the line. One final segment here for this hour, and then we jump into Hour 2, The Michael Duke Show. Common Sense, Liberty Base, Free Thinking Radio. Like, share, subscribe, ring the bell. Let's do it. Let's do it right now. What the hell is an assault weapon? What isn't? If I assault you with a penguin, doesn't that make it an assault weapon?
Does this mean that if we hurt your feelings, you'd consider The Michael Dukes Show assault radio? Okay, we can live with that. Here's Michael Dukes. Those penguins, man. Those assault penguins. I mean, they're emperors. They're like four feet tall. They will mess you up. Welcome back to the program. It is the Michael Duke Show. Phone lines are open. 319-527-3864. Let's quit the...
and get right to it. Fred's been on the line for a while here, so let's talk with Fred first things first. From Rhode Island, he listens in on the interwebs every Friday and joins us. Good morning, Fred. What's on your mind, my friend? Hey, good morning, Michael. You know, they almost lured you into the minefield, and I got you that time with, you know, the interview from the conversation with Bondi and Trump back in 2015. Oh, they tried, yeah.
They tried to get me, but I was not biting it, man. You could fool me once, but not twice. Well, you know, it only goes to show you what I've been saying all along. It's full of liars, cheaters, and thieves. This is what they do. They'll use any trick in the book, in pure deception, to push their narrative. And they don't care. This is what they do. Lie, cheat, steal. And you just summed up the entire woke progressive party in its entirety.
And it's a shame we have to do this because eventually it's going to come to our head with Trump. One way or another, it's definitely going to come to our head. One way or another. Either they're going to go or they're going to get us. living proof over here in Rhode Island. You know, we get part of that Supreme Court hearing, the Rhode Island magazine ban, Ocean State Tactical, which is a company over here, a gun company over here, taken on the state of Rhode Island.
in the in the in when supreme court and the other ones did you run out of uh soaps down there and i think it's maryland on the the assault weapons ban so those two are going to be on the uh those two are going to be coming up
But they're pushing the assault weapons ban here in Rhode Island right now. They're really going hot and heavy on it. And, you know, once again, lie, cheat, steal. I mean, everything I've seen in the media, everything I've seen coming out of the legislature, it's all slated.
It's all BS. You have no idea what the hell they're talking about when it comes to assault weapons and semi-automatics and this and that and the other thing, and how great the magazine band was, even though it didn't do one damn thing except interfere. with the lives of law-abiding people. Not knowing anything. One woman over there, she had a 15-round magazine, didn't realize the band, I guess she wasn't really paying attention, didn't realize that the band was in effect or it was all, you know.
And, you know, the police came into a house in an unrelated situation, and they found the gun. You know, they asked if they had a weapon. She said, yes, could you show it to us? And she went, you know, cooperating. Had the 15-round magazine. They arrested her. Yeah. And eventually they threw it out. Yeah. This is what America is in for. This is what Alaska is in for. Yeah. No. Pay attention, people. And not... Yeah. You're the last frontier. But you're on the list, one of the other 49.
And not understanding the law is not stopping them from making the law, right? I mean, what's a barrel shroud? It's the shoulder thing that goes up, right? I mean, they just, because they don't understand. They know exactly what they're talking about all the time. Exactly, exactly. They know exactly what they're talking about. Yeah. You know, the whole thing with red flag, you know, red flag is definitely an intrusion into, you know, your rights. But then again...
If it were, but I wouldn't trust the left, and some people on the right I wouldn't trust it with either. But if something like that were to be used properly, it could be non-intrusive in the fact that... They're going to take it away and, you know, take away your guns. But you know what? I think if there were like a third situation, a third party out there that could intervene, any gun store, any FFL holder.
We're going to send them, not to the authorities, but if they just temporarily remove them from your presence, if it's the person that they're really concerned about. They could hold, the third party could hold it, and FFL could hold the firearms for like 72 hours or whatever. Maybe 70. Whatever they agree on is reasonable.
And if everything turns out to be a big misnomer, then it would be ridiculous. Well, don't forget, Fred. No questions asked. You can't trust the left. We don't trust the left. Right. Don't forget, Fred, there's already involuntary commitment laws and other laws that are in effect. We don't need the red flag per se.
There's already other laws that are in effect that could take care of that. And, you know, having a third party, maybe that's a solution for some things. But, you know, we don't need to add this extra layer of law and bureaucracy to disarm Americans. to go, Fred. Thank you so much for your call. Ron is on the line. Ron, what's on your mind, my friend? Well, Michael, in light of your discussion about the Trump administration and so forth, I'm going to make what we call an EWAG.
Are you familiar with the term? That's a wild... Yes, I know exactly. It's a guess. Anyway, Patel is going to take himself out of the direct line of fire and probably put the ATF under the direction of... his assistant director uh dan bagino i wouldn't that be awesome very interesting wouldn't that be awesome to watch because
He is a fire-breathing dragon. Yeah, no, that would be amazing. If Dan Bongino, who's coming in as the assistant director at the FBI, if he gets put in as the head of ATF... Oh, man, Katie, bar the door, because he's had some things to say about the behavior and the direction that the ATF's been going. That would be an exciting time. And you know what? You might be right, my friend. You might be 100% right.
Well, we shall wait and see. Have a great day, Michael. All right. Thanks so much, Ron. Appreciate the call. Brian is on the line from the Fish Hook. Hello, my friend. How are you? I am doing well. I figured if you're going to make theory, call me. I figure you probably have something you wanted to talk about. What are you going to talk to me about this morning?
Brian said, I said the word seriously. I said, like, seriously? And he said his phone across the room responded. And so I told Siri to call. the michael duke show um just because i thought it was funny uh nothing brian it's good to hear from me my friend everything good in your world oh i got tons of complaints but nobody wants to hear them so i just keep them to myself yeah a couple interesting comments
Kind of in the chat room. It's kind of related to the whole thing with this fake, or not fake, this dated sound bite. The thing that comes up with, well, Meg will be the easiest. to disarm because uh meal team six or whatever that is you know being i guess the illusion of being old fat and out of shape which kind of leads me to where i'm at today so i think
You know, having a Second Amendment and the right to own arms, keeping bare arms is one thing, but the other side of it is you've got to practice. And I think you're opening admonition, almost your... Your touchstone is the rule of three where you've got to get the training and I don't think I don't think that gets open Emphasized enough and I encourage you to keep
Keep pushing getting training. Keep pushing from all angles to get training. Do what we need to do. Get training to dry fire or live range training. Yeah, no, I agree. I mean, I think we beat on that for many years, and I haven't done it as much as I probably should, but you're right. The rule of three is super important, especially for people who are not firearms proficient, who aren't familiar with them.
You need that. And even people who are, who were born and raised with guns, but maybe they haven't picked up their gun in quite a while. That rule of three, the training, the dry fire exercises, the going to classes, the extra practice, that's all super important, especially if you're going to be preparing to defend yourself and others. 100 percent, Brian. Final thoughts here.
No, just maybe get Donna Anthony on and maybe she can do a deal for Michael Dukes listeners. Maybe we'll do an excursion. Hey, everybody in the chat room. All right. Thanks, Brian. I appreciate it. You know, Rob Pink is from... Defense Training says he wants to come up here and do a class, so maybe we come up and do that as well. All right, we are up against the break. We've got more coming up. Hour 2 is dead ahead. The Michael Duke Show, Common Sense, Liberty-based, Free Thinking Radio.
Don't forget, you can always join us on Facebook, facebook.com slash MichaelDukeShow. We'll be back with more here in just a moment. Hour two is dead ahead. Willie Waffle will be joining us at the end of the show. And we'll be doing more fun stuff then. Back with more right after this. If you've got to go, be kind, love one another, and live well. Hey, guys. Gotta see a man about a horse. I'll be right back. Don't go anywhere, okay? No, really, I mean it. Don't go anywhere.
Okay. Sorry about that. Wow. That was, hello. Good morning and welcome back to the program. How are you doing? How are you doing? Let's see. If you were going to do that, you should have left Brian on the phone. He could have read some news stories and we would have been none the wiser. Well, that's true. I could have just left Brian to do his. Brian, you should just take over for me. It was a good thing. All right. Well, welcome back to the program. And thanks for coming in and joining us.
Hour two in just a moment, and we'll be getting started there. Willie Waffle will be joining us at the end of the show as normal. So let me. Turn that off here. Henry said, you almost did ban me, but I'm trying to get the word out of what's happening in parts of Alaska. We see lots of foreigners now working in schools. Many dying. Okay. All right. Thanks. There we go. Ever wonder why the industry that is the most against assault firearms wants to take our rights away at every mass shooting?
Make the most money off of movies that are full of assault firearms and mass killings. That's that's that's something that, you know, you're not 100 percent wrong on. I mean, nothing glorifies the killing in the vine. Nothing is more ironic than Liam Neeson, who kills 87 people in the Taken movie, then coming back and scolding us gun owners in America about how we want to defend ourselves with firearms. There's no.
Nothing more insulting than that, really. Nothing more insulting. Hey, got to move my dog. Hold on. Hey, move. There you go. I lost all my light. I was like, why is the light out? Dog is laying right in front of it. Jim is just brutal. Jim's like, if you wear some Depends or something, you don't have to take those breaks. Come on, guys. How often have I had to take a bathroom break on this program? Not. Not very often. Not very often. Not that you know of anyway. Not that you know of. All right.
I'm just going back here to see what, going back to see what's going on. What else are you guys talking about? David says the best friendly show, guest gun friendly show was Bugs Bunny and the Roadrunner Hour. Wiley had cannons and rockets. I mean, you're not wrong. But wasn't that show about teaching kids to be violent? That's what I heard. The cartoon was teaching children to be violent.
I mean, I just never could understand how people could keep saying that. I mean, I realized that it was a cartoon. I mean, I couldn't draw a black hole in the wall and climb into it. Right. I realized that if you drop an anvil on somebody that they're not walking away from that. I was, I could understand that. I just, I understand that. Why doesn't everybody else? That's the question. All right, let's get to it. I got, I got more. Phone lines are open.
We'll continue on here in just a second. The Michael Duke Show. Common Sense Radio. Put that thing back in its holster. We haven't gone anywhere. I don't understand. Check out themichaeldukesshow.com for information on how to get access to the podcast. Welcome to the party, pal. The Michael Duke Show. I have two guns, one for each of you. Firearms Friday, as Thomas Jefferson stated.
It is the right and duty of the people to be at all times armed. To be at all times armed. Say hello to my little friend! I say that the Second Amendment is in order of importance the first amendment. The right to keep and bear arms. is the one right that allows rights to exist at all. The Michael Dick Show. The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Firearms. From my cold, dead hands.
Yep, baby. Firearms Friday. Your chance to sound off on issues of a 2A nature right here on the Michael Duke Show. Welcome back to the old radio program. Thanks for coming in and joining us on this beautiful Friday. 32 degrees down here in beautiful Homer on top of the world. 35 up in Wasilla is what's being reported right now. I don't know how cold it is up in Fairbanks. Somebody from Fairbanks in the chat room will have to tell me. But I feel like this has been kind of a month.
I feel like it's been good. The further south I move, the milder the winters in Alaska get. I guess I am the center of the universe, weather speaking, I guess, when it comes to that. Because every time I moved south, the weather, you know, I moved down to Mat-Su and the winters in Fairbanks got milder. I was brutal, man. That last winter that I was in Fairbanks, it was like...
57 below or colder at my house for more than three weeks solid. I mean, it was brutal. And then after I left, it was like they didn't have a cold winter for like five years. What is going on? Six degrees in Fairbanks. Six degrees. And it's it's it's one of those, you know, one of those things. But anyway, today is Firearms Friday and we are ready to go here to discuss more about guns and the gun culture.
As I introduced in the first hour, you know, I was concerned about President Trump and his position on red flag laws and some other things based on some of his commentary that he had made. During his first administration, especially and specifically after the Parkland shooting at Parkland High School. And it was very concerning. And so while I held my nose and voted for him.
I was worried that he may not be as staunchly Second Amendment as I had hoped. And then his nomination of Pam Bondi to the attorney general position. was a second one because she was also there she was the attorney general during parkland and she was an advocate for changing the underage purchase price. You had to be over 21 to buy a gun. And she was a big proponent of red flag laws and everything else. And lo and behold.
I get an email from several people or messages from several people regarding a video that just came out, a video of President Trump and Pam Bondi sitting down to talk about red flag laws. And all the falter all around this video was. Well, look, see, if you thought if you thought Trump was going to keep your gun safe, then you're naive and that, you know, you're going to get disarmed and, you know, all this kind of stuff. And this was the this is what the video contained.
This is what they were talking about. Here's Pam Bondi and President Donald Trump. We've been rewriting it, and we are going to bring in something called the gun violence restraining order. So if someone is civilly committed, and typically you can hold them for up to 72 hours, but people are getting out within 24 hours, the majority of them.
What we want to do is let law enforcement come in and take the guns. They are a danger to themselves or others. Which you can't do right now. Well, because... without being adjudicated. So because they're a danger to themselves... You want them to take the guns and not go through six months of legal...
But we also have to give the mentally ill the due process in which they deserve, President. So what we're doing is they're going to be able to take the guns when they're taken into custody or into the hospital. And then when they're released, within 24 hours or 72 hours later, typically it's 24 hours, but law enforcement will have 72 hours to determine whether they should give those guns back or they can go to a judge and say, Your Honor.
Please keep these guns. We feel this person is still a danger to himself or others. So this would not have worked the way it's currently constituted. This would not have worked with Cruz. As it's currently constituted? As it's currently written. So you're going to make changes? We're going to make changes.
So I saw this video and it came out and it's like, oh, my God, my worst fears are realized. The president is now working on national red flag laws. And, you know, of course, my my blood pressure spiked for a minute. You know, my heartbeat. increased and everything else and then i thought wait a second this is the internet so is this a deep fake
So I watched it a couple more times. Nope. The mouths were in sync. Everything looked good. It didn't look like a deep fake. And I'm like, I've got to dig deeper into this. So, spoiler alert. This is bait. Okay? This video is real and true. But this video is from 2018. And there's a whole bunch of people on Team Blue out there who are pushing and passing this off as if this happened this week.
That the president's talking about what she's talking about is instituting red flag laws in Florida, because in the video at the time, she was the attorney general of Florida. This was in 2018. But they're framing it as if, oh, he's going to take your guns. He's going to do this. He's going to do that. And it took a little digging, but I discovered that that's where this video came from, was from 2018.
Now, it's pretty pathetic that at this point, this is all the anti-gunners have to cling to. That, you know, the... This is pretty pathetic that they have to literally dig back into the Wayback Machine and then falsely label this as something that just happened. It shows how it shows their desperation. And it tells me one thing. We are winning. We are winning the battle for hearts and minds. And we are we do have the offensive and we have the momentum in this battle for the Second Amendment.
Like I said, you know, at first listen, I was like, what? And my heart beat a little faster. But I'm becoming more and more convinced. And it's one of the reasons why I immediately was a little suspicious of it. I'm becoming more and more convinced that the president truly does believe in standing for our Second Amendment rights. And truly does it. And again, even though I had doubts about Pam Bondi.
As the attorney general because of her past history, because of that interviews like that back in 2018, when she was the attorney general of Florida. I was worried about it. But every one of her actions thus far has shown that she is a loyal, card-carrying member of the Trump administration who's going to carry out the directives that the president has set forth. Case in point.
Her interview with Fox News this week on the corruption and the things that they found inside the Department of Justice, including some amazing news. at the ATF.
I THINK WE HAVE A LOT OF WEAPONIZATION OF THE GOVERNMENT. YESTERDAY WE GOT RID OF THE JACK SMITH TEAM. THAT WAS A GIVEN. THE ULTIMATE WEAPONIZATION OF THE GOVERNMENT. BUT WE ALSO YESTERDAY I FIRED THE GENERAL COUNSEL FROM ATF. THESE PEOPLE WERE TARGETING GUN OWNERS.
ABSOLUTELY. And so, I mean, she's carrying out the directive. She's working on it. Remember last week we were talking about how Pam Bondi had asked for a stay in litigation.
on that final order that had been promulgated by the Biden administration. Remember the one that was redefining? It was redefining the regulations under who was going to, quote unquote, be engaged in business of dealing firearms, that they made it so broad and sweeping that even if you offered a single gun for sale, potentially, you could be. An unlicensed gun dealer? And Pam Bondi had asked for a stay in that so they could review it.
Now, it turns out that the judge on Wednesday, Judge Matthew Kaskamark, denied the government's request, citing two reasons. First, the executive order that Bondi referenced. to the case requires only that the attorney general review the rules promulgated by the ATF and propose a plan. and that these actions fail to present any substantial or imminent threat to the instant litigation. And second, the motion to stay filed during the later stages of litigation is not viewed favorably.
They're going to have to proceed ahead with this case, which she took over from the Biden administration that was promulgating this case. Now, the results of her review are due back in just 10 days, 12 days. And if she decides that it's not in the government's interest to continue to defend the ATF rule, then they can rescind the rule. And I think that's probably what's going to happen.
because she is going through this whole rulemaking process right now. But I think Pam Bondi is showing her colors as being a true loyalist to the Trump agenda. Which is within the president's right. Every president has a right to have an agenda and to have their appointed officials execute that agenda. Nobody, nobody. I mean, they can cater wall all they want about it, but nobody is.
denying that. And then for further proof that the president is moving forward, we've got more, including what's going on with Kash Patel. But before we get to that, let's go to the phones. We got we got a call here. I don't know who this is. We'll find out. Good morning. Who's this? Where are you calling from? Good morning, Mr. Dukes. My name is Mike, and I'm from Fairbanks. Hey, Mike. Turn your radio down and tell me what's on your mind.
Yeah. So when a married couple lives in a house, isn't everything in that house pretty much joint property? Well, I guess it depends on... I guess it depends on if you live in California or not. But yeah, I mean, generally speaking, I would say it's theirs together. Yes, I would assume. So when one of those people... gets taken away by the police and determined to be unable to deal with firearms for whatever time. And now the police come back like was in that video.
and confiscate the guns, well aren't they also confiscating guns from a fully cognizant fully possessive of Second Amendment rights person and denying them their right to keep and bear firearms? You make a valid point. This point has been brought up in several litigations over this kind of stuff where both the husband and wife.
were in those cases the husbands and wife were both shooters um and they're like she's like you can't take my guns because i'm not the one being you know and so yeah no it's a it's a it's a conundrum I mean, do you have to get separate gun safes? Do you have to get his and her gun safes to make it work? I don't know. But you bring up a valid point, Mike. Yeah, well, that's what I thought.
You leave one person totally unprotected without their firearms. So anyway, that was my question and thought for the morning. All right. Well, I appreciate it, Mike. It's a good question. And I think, you know, the argument would be, well, but if he's going to be living in the house, he could have access to she or the other partner could have access to fire. But again, that doesn't give them the right to eliminate.
the Second Amendment rights of the spouse or the partner or whoever it is in the house. It shouldn't happen. I think that's right. All right, Mike, thank you so much for your call. I appreciate it. 319-527-3864 is the phone number. 319-527-3864. All right. Cash Patel. He, you know, just to prove again that I think that the president is still moving in the right direction. We've got this story about Kash Patel, who, of course, is now the director of the FBI officially. And this week.
The president took some interesting steps to bring some of that stuff back online. and to bring the ATF to heel. We're going to talk about that here in just a second. J.D. Tuccioli, Ariza Magazine, writes about this. It's some good stuff. We'll be back with more. Right after this, The Michael Duke Show, Common Sense Radio. We're broadcasting live through a series of tubes. Allowing all of these entities to provide streaming stuff going on the internet. Well, it's kind of hard to explain. Sorry.
Streaming live every weekly morning on Facebook Live and MichaelDukesShow.com. Okay. We are now in the break and we're ready to go. There's a big marketing scheme, says Brian. Pink and blue safes, his and hers. Let's see. Community property states differ, says Jeannie. Like I said, it depends on where you live. His point dies when there are guns in the home. It's not about whose guns they are, which I disagree with, Jeannie. I really do. I disagree. If for some reason...
You know, a spouse, you know, somebody came in and said, you know, I'm not good, but my wife should still have the ability to defend herself. My wife should still have the ability to defend those kids. Or vice versa. It's not about whose guns they are. The fundamental right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed trumps any point that the state would make about, well, you know.
She would just she or he or whoever the other spouse would be would just have to be responsible to say, I will keep my gun locked up that only I can deal, you know, whatever. I disagree. that the point dies when there are guns in the home. That means nothing to me. Are there power tools in the home? Yes. Well, that's my skill saw, not his skill saw. That's my chainsaw, not hers chainsaw. OK. I just I just fundamentally disagree with this.
Brian says, all these years and Ted Stevens comments still make me smile. It's a series of tubes. It's a series of tubes. Yeah. And then somebody asked if I was going to read the audio version of Lisa's books. Apparently Lisa Murkowski's got a book out. I had no idea. I had no idea that she has a book out. I have a hard time believing that that's going to be a bestseller, quite honestly. I have a hard time believing that. All right.
Let me see if there's any headlines that have popped off this morning since we got started here. It's always nice to see if there's some kind of mid-morning discussion. Let's see. Wyoming bill targeting gun-free zones becomes law without the governor's signature. I'm sorry, I'm just reading through this. Wyoming. Wyoming of all places. You know, Wyoming of all places.
It's astonishing that it's astonishing how some of these states that you would consider like my Wyoming and Montana, you'd think these states would be. You know, wide open, live free, die hard, cowboy country, you know, and yet they've got some of the bluest capitals and state legislatures in the country. It's it's it's crazy. Absolutely crazy. Oh, Anthony, I haven't seen you this morning, man. How you been? Anthony, ooh, that's a novel.
Conceptually, the idea of a red flag law isn't a bad thing necessarily. I'm sure we can all agree if Johnny starts hearing voices in the walls and threatens to eat the neighbors, we might want to make sure he doesn't grab an AR from his room and harm people. The fatal flaw of a red flag law that can never be overcome, however, is the bias of whomever is making the standard for it. The reason I'll vehemently oppose this type of law is because it only takes one stroke of the pen to...
go and I've lost the rest of it because I can't see the rest of it, but whatever. You're right. I mean, we all want, I mean, if Johnny starts hearing voices, obviously there should be concern, but here's the thing. There are already laws on the books. There's involuntary commitment laws in every state, pretty much. There is a higher bar than with red flag laws where you could pick up a phone and just make a complaint about somebody.
Which is the fear of many gun owners is that somebody that they get sideways with politically familial issues, whatever. That's the big difference. That is the big difference there between those two things. And while I agree that we need to have something along those, you know, this is a hard thing to this is a hard thing to jump. OK, we got to go. The Michael Duke Show. Common sense, liberty based, free thinking. Oh, let's do it. What the hell is an assault weapon?
You know, if we could just figure out how to get all of the murder guns and the attack guns and not keep selling those to people and just sell protection guns, I think that would be great and solve a lot of problems. Does this mean that if we hurt your feelings, you'd consider The Michael Dukes Show assault radio? Okay, we can live with that. Here's Michael Dukes. So, President Trump...
is allaying fears left and right. I think, again, we were a little worried. We were talking about this video that's being pushed out there by Team Blue right now. as if it is just happened. This is a video that's six, seven years old now. And, you know, it's not the boogeyman that many people think. So there's some good news in that. But he's also done some other things. And I think some of his appointments are, you know, quite honestly, pretty inspired. Now, Kash Patel as head of the FBI.
I thought, good choice, very good choice. But then this week, President Trump did something a little unusual. He is now appointed. Kash Patel, not only as director of the FBI, but also as acting head of the BATF, the ATF. President Trump took a step towards reining in the federal agency justifiably viewed by many as a threat to self-defense rights.
He also signed a signal that he may consolidate government bodies that overlap in their responsibilities. And there's a lot about there's a lot of these alphabet agencies that are overlapping in various responsibilities. And this does a couple different things. First of all, it creates a massive redundant bureaucracy.
which is completely inefficient. Secondly, it silos each one of these different agencies into different areas of information so that there's not, I mean, one of the greatest failures of information was 9-11. where because you had some agencies that were talking about the chatter of an attack and other agencies that had no idea because everybody was siloed, right, in their own little protective bubbles. Agency one doesn't talk to agency two, doesn't talk to agency three.
And so it's, you know, the idea of combining agencies for efficiency's sake, it makes a lot of sense. Makes a lot of sense. There are some dangers. There's dangers of supersizing an agency, you know, to where you get this gargantuan, you get this whole gargantuan thing that, you know, monolithic that can't be stopped. And somebody says, well, but what about.
You know, Kash Patel would never. No, Kash Patel might not ever do that. He might not allow it under his tenure. But the problem is, Patel isn't the next guy. Patel is not director for life. So the next guy might be able to weaponize a supersized agency. And that's a problem. Now, Ron from North Pole called up earlier and said he was going to take a educated, wild, wild butted guess and say he thinks.
that Kash Patel is just taking over in the interim, and that they may move to consolidate the ATF underneath the FBI. And that he may assign his brand spanking new assistant director, Dan Bongino. Dan Bongino. Diane Bongino as the new... head of the ATF, that they may fold it under the agency and then have Bongino be the head of the ATF. I'm almost giddy. I'm almost giddy with the thought of the ATF under Dan Bongino. Absolutely giddy.
And then again, with Bondi's, Pam Bondi's discussion about how they just fired the general counsel of the ATF and they're looking to clean that whole thing up and do all that. I mean, I think this could be, this could be good. We're continuing to win, my friends. The battle is going our way. We have the big mo. We have the momentum in this fight.
And that's what battles are all about. Battles are all about momentum. So once you've got it, you don't want to let it go. We need to keep pushing on this. And a consolidation of the AT... I mean, an outright... dismantling of the atf i think would would not be amiss but if you can't dismantle it at least fold it under and defang it a bit Give it other things to work on and look at. I think this is a brilliant, brilliant idea, quite honestly. So if it's all going to happen.
Then, yeah, I think that's some good news for America. And we will see what happens from there. We'll keep going. Well, Colorado continues to make news, right? Colorado, they are now racing. They're working really hard. To become the most anti-gun state in the country. I mean, it's like it's it's like it's some kind of challenge. You know, well, I don't think you can become the most anti-gun state. And Colorado says, hold my beer. Watch this.
Because they are working hard to become the most anti-gun state around. To catch up with California, to catch up with New York, Illinois, I mean, they got some... They got some room to grow. They got some ground to cover there. But they're taking a shot at it. Yep. They are going to do their best to take a shot at it.
Currently, one of the new measures, this is after their whole semi-auto ban, they got put into place, although it was watered down quite a bit, with a grandfather clause and some other things. But still, they're trying. The latest bill would restrict the sale of ammunition to adults only over the age of 21. They restricted gun sales. to only those over the age of 21 back in 2023. But the fact that they're even debating the ammo restrictions illustrates exactly how well that went.
Because ammunition, I mean, without bullets, a gun is essentially a glorified club, right? So now that they're like, well, this under-21 restriction didn't really fix the thing, so now we'll just take bullets away. So they're trying to do all this. A proposed law from KOAA.com. A proposed law in Colorado is stirring controversy as lawmakers push to tighten ammunition sales restrictions. HB 1133, which passed the statehouse, would raise the minimum age to purchase ammunition from 18 to 21.
Supporters say it's a necessary step to enhance public safety while critics argue it infringes on Second Amendment rights and imposes financial strains on businesses. The bill also includes additional measures such as banning ammunition vending machines. Oh, where do I get an ammunition vending machine? Oh, man. Give me one of those. I want an ammunition vending machine. I feel like I'm playing Fallout or something, man. That would be awesome.
requiring shippers to provide written notice when delivering packages, and more. Vendors would also be required to store ammunition in enclosed display cases or behind counters. So no more walking into sportsmen's where they've got a shelf full of ammo and you can just pluck them off and drop them in your basket. No more of that.
One of the gun owners, the gun store owners, Terry Collins, Teddy Collins of Spartan Defense said, this is going to be impactful. They're trying to make it harder and harder for people like us to operate and they're driving prices up, making it unaffordable for the average consumer. So, but the bigger question is, if age restrictions worked and nobody under 21 could buy a firearm, why do they need to restrict the ammo? Right? I mean, they've already put the law into effect.
Why would they need to restrict the ammo if they've already made it illegal for somebody under the age of 21 to buy a firearm? Probably. because people break the law, I guess, or people are not going to pay attention to your stupid law. If you could be called up for war and put your life on your line for your country, I'd be a little irate if I couldn't buy a gun because you decided arbitrarily that I wasn't.
old enough. But I could go to war and use a gun there. All right, we got to go. Willie Waffle's coming up next. The Michael Duke Show. Common Sense, Liberty Bay's Free Thinking Radio. Streaming live every weekly morning on Facebook Live and MichaelDukesShow.com. It's just the dumbest thing ever. Well, we've already made it illegal to do it. It's illegal to drive under the age of 16, so we shouldn't sell anyone under 16 any gasoline.
All right. Mike, try to get Dan Bongino on this show. Dude, I would love to do that. I had a conversation with some folks over at Westwood One yesterday. Because Bongino is obviously is just a show that I just picked up. Dan Bongino, you know, his own show. We just started playing him here on my radio stations about three and a half weeks ago.
And super excited about it, by the way, super excited about it. And and yet now he's but it turns out some little behind the scenes baseball. Apparently, he had turned the Trump administration down. More than two times. Apparently, apparently, Trump is not a guy that takes no for an answer.
So Bongino has finally said yes, and he's going to go over there. But I would have to say that for him to say yes, there must have been some kind of concession making in the background. Because it's not about money, right? He's going to lose money.
on this deal. I can't imagine that the federal government could pay him a quarter of what he's making right now on a nationally syndicated radio talk show, along with a podcast, along with a rumble stream. I mean, a guy's making money hand over fist, right? So I can't imagine it's a monetary thing. But I was just thinking that, well, if they said, we'll give you ATF. We'll give, I mean. That might be incentive enough to make something like that happen. Interesting.
Make sure my phone is set up here for Willie to call in. I don't want to, I don't want to miss anything. I guess we'll fix the background too over there. Okay. All right. Come to the Fairbanks Lincoln Day Dinner. All proceeds go to pro 2A candidates. How do you know they're pro 2A, Jennifer? Is it track record? Do they get a rating? I mean, you can't trust the NRA rating these days. I'm just asking.
I've not tried to be confrontational. I'm just asking. Anthony says, so how long are we giving it until Colorado's firearm infringements end up only allowing you to carry a musket with a single bowl and a non-tipped bayonet? Oh, yeah.
Mike, let me get this straight. Colorado wants to make strict gun laws but have no problems with sending their sons and daughters to our great military to serve as early as the age of 17, which they'll be handling multiple weapons and especially use equipment worth over billions of dollars.
Yeah, Mike, that's never made any sense to me. It's like the whole drinking age thing. I mean, I could go to war at 18, kill for my country, defend my country, protect my brothers and sisters, do all that stuff. But I can't be trusted to have a beer. Well, that just doesn't see me. It's just so arbitrary and capricious. It really is so arbitrary and capricious. And we've just.
All nodded and gone along with it. This is why I don't pay attention to stupid laws, quite honestly. This is just one of the reasons why. This is one of the reasons I am ungovernable. ungovernable. Thank you, Brian. That's what you should all be ungovernable. Do it today. You know, and again, the danger.
in creating more and more of these stupid laws is the same thing that we've talked about in the past, creating essentially that Irish democracy where people realize how dumb the laws are, that criminals aren't going to listen to them, and as they affect more and more laws that do nothing but affect law-abiding citizens, soon the law-abiding citizens are just going to start ignoring the laws just like the criminals do yeah did you see the thing on atf and the forced reset triggers
I have not yet. I'll have to go take a look at that, Brian. I'll have to go see what that's all about. Okay. Am I all caught up? I think I'm all caught up on all the comments. So thank you for calling in and being part of it this morning and talking about everything here. I appreciate you guys doing it.
Need to change that intro, says Rick, the intro to Firearms Friday. You need to change that from I have two guns to I have 20 guns. More like it for this. But I can't hold more than two. All right, Rick? I mean, why be greedy? I mean, yeah, we probably know that you've got more than 20 guns. But you only have two hands. I mean, unless you've got some kind of laser driven radar projecting.
tripod mounted belt fed automatic sentry gun you only have two hands two guns is all you need baby two guns is all you need Oh, man. Thank you, Brian, for keeping us ungovernable. Yep. Brian is the one. He reminds us every day to remain and be ungovernable. Couldn't get a pack of smokes yesterday because my ADL had a crack in it that I had put a piece of tape over.
All right. Are we ready? I'm ready. We're ready already. I'm ready for the weekend. The man who is always ready for the weekend, Willie Waffle. is with us he's he was born ready he was born with his pants on he's ready to go hello my friend i'm telling you i love the weekend isn't the weekend the best part of the week because you know you don't have to work man and you can have fun
The man ain't breathing down your neck? That's right. You know what I'm talking about. Oh, I am the man breathing down my own neck, which is a little difficult. But, you know, if I could figure out a way to get the four-day work week perfected on what I do, I would be perfect. You know, it really would.
But then, of course, we wouldn't be able to talk on Friday morning. So I guess, all right, never mind. Forget I said it. Don't blame me for not having a four-day work week. It's all you. It's all you all the time. You're used to the blame anyway, right? Yeah, pretty much. All right. Well, let's let's dive into the news.
And I want to talk about Gene Hackman because that was kind of sad, but not unexpected, I guess, in some ways. But so let's run through some of these other stories real quick. The Oscars, there were some upsets. There was some crazy stuff that happened. chalamet what i mean it uh some unexpected stuff hit me with it well the oscars are happening on sunday man like wasn't the oscars here i apologize it wasn't the oscars it was the
It was the Screen Actors Guild. Screen Actors Guild, that's the one, which is usually a good predictor for the Oscars, right? Oh, it's a massive predictor for the Oscars. I mean, you have to realize the people who vote for the Screen Actors Guild comprise something like one. I want to say it was one sixth of the Oscar voters. So it's a large voting block.
And they've pretty much just told you what they think is going to win and how they voted for the Oscars. And yeah, it looks like, and I'm actually kind of, I'm really actually happy about this. Timothy Chalamet. Had a surprise best actor win at the Screen Actors Guild Award. It looks like he may pull off the upset on Sunday night and be named best actor. He'd be like something like that.
third youngest man to ever win Best Actor. And I'll tell you, if you have not seen A Complete Unknown yet, where he plays Bob Dylan, do it. It is a really good movie, and he is absolutely fabulous. I like him as an actor anyway. I've only seen him in Dune and one other thing. But, I mean, he seems like he's really – he seems like he's a really good actor. So I'm looking forward to it. All right. Well, that's good. Any other – there were some other things, right? That Emilia Perez thing is like –
It kind of blew the whole weekend apart. It really did. And this, I'm telling you, because you know me, when I watch the Oscars... I want things to go wrong. I want things to go badly. Okay. A few years ago when they gave the Oscar to the wrong film for best film and they had to like take it back and say, Oh, we gave it to you by accident. That was the greatest Oscars ever. Right. Right.
The Will Smith slap in the face, the whole thing. And then you throw that in there, too. Oh, my God. Exactly. So I don't know if we'll have anything that amazing, although I will be praying. But the thing that I'm looking forward to is... How will everybody respond to the presence of nominee Carlos Sofia Gascon, who...
Has completely destroyed any chance that she has the winning best actress who has pretty much destroyed everybody's chance of winning anything from that movie, except for maybe Zoe Saldana for best supporting actress. And.
you know she's she's a pariah right she is a pariah in hollywood right now but she decided she said but she decided to show up to the oscars i mean anybody with respect would be like no i'm just gonna stay at home and eat popcorn no she's gonna show up That's what gets me, because she has avoided every other awards ceremony since...
Tweetgate broke out, or I don't know what we can call it anymore. Maybe it's Xgate at this point. But yeah, when they started digging into her old Twitter account and found all sorts of stuff you do not say in polite Hollywood. Yeah, exactly. She, she pretty much ruined it. And, but now not only, no, this is awesome. Not only is she going, she actually convinced Netflix to pay for it the way they do for all their other nominees. even though they really don't want her to go.
All right, well, we'll see what happens there. We'll be catching up with you on this next week after the Oscars. This is a little interesting because we talked about this previously, how The Pit, this new show on HBO, which is a huge hit. Huge hit. They were sued by the estate of Michael Crichton because he had originally built ER and did all that stuff. But this is some new stuff that I hadn't heard about. The judges decided they can go forward.
Because they've got enough merit. And then I guess you're telling me that Sherry Crichton, his widow, she was in negotiations with Warners when it all fell apart and then the pit came out. Oh, that looks a little sus, man. It really does. I mean, this is a really interesting case because it's really hard to prove that you stole somebody else's intellectual property and took it for your own and didn't give them credit.
I mean, let's face it, there are thousands upon thousands of cases of music writers, movie writers, who feel that they had something they had stolen, and the judge ruled no. And so that's why this is so interesting. So The Pit stars Noah Wiley, who was also in ER, and is produced by John Wells, who was also a producer of ER. Yes, they were working on an ER reboot for Warner Brothers Television. The Creighton family was involved because they represent the state's rights.
The negotiations suddenly broke down. And then it was announced, oh, no, Wiley and Wells and all of them are going to do a new medical drama show for us called The Pit. And it's going to take place in an emergency room. But it's going to be in Pittsburgh. And the thing that makes the pit so interesting, and I think this is why they're going to win the case. If you haven't watched the show, we are watching.
Hour by hour, what happens in one day in that emergency room. So it's kind of like 24 and ER had a baby. And this is the result. And it's one of the best shows on television. I mean, it streams on Mac. It streams on Mac. So it's the best show on streaming. But it is fantastic. But, yeah, you feel the ER vibe. Now, granted, what the defendants have argued is that, listen.
We're doing a medical drama. Dude, there are medical dramas all over the history of television and over television today. I mean, come on. There's even a show, which I love, called Chicago Med, which is about the ER room in Chicago. Nobody sued them for being like the art. You're right. The key is that...
There were negotiations to do a reboot, and then it looks like they kicked the Crichton family out. Yeah, no, that's the thing that I think, because I hadn't heard that part before, that they had been in the middle of negotiations on a reboot when somebody yoinked the plug and all of a sudden the pit came out. I mean, I could see...
I don't know. Maybe they'll win. Like you said, there's a million medical procedurals out there. But this is a totally different take and a totally different spin. So maybe they'll win. Maybe it's all good and good. All right. Or maybe they'll just settle before it gets to a judge again. It is possible. It's possible. All right. Star Wars nerds, we can all now unite and cry joyously to the heavens because...
The witch, the wicked witch is dead. Kathleen Kennedy is done. And for those of you who don't know, who are looking at me blankly right now at your radio, I understand you don't know who Kathleen Kennedy is, but Willie? Take it away, my friend. So Kathleen Kennedy is the president of Lucasfilms. When Disney bought Lucasfilm, I think it was like 2012.
She took over as the head of Lucasfilm. She has a very long history, was a producer with Steven Spielberg for years and years and years. And she has been running the Star Wars franchise. And, you know, for good and for bad. People are happy and sad about that. She did bring back a new trilogy. She brought back a few other films. She brought back a bunch of television programs. And under her watch, I think it's been kind of a mixed bag.
of success and failure uh and now that she's moving on i think she's moving on at a time when star wars is at a crossroads Like, you know, a lot of their projects are just wallowing. You know, we've talked about the failure of the Acolyte a great deal. You know, there's supposed to be a Daisy Ridley centered Star Wars film that is just in development. It's just not going anywhere. But they have the Mandalorian and Grogu movie coming soon.
Right. So there could be a chance to revive Star Wars. So whoever takes over, I think, is trying to figure out what is our life after the Mandalorian? What are we going to focus on? Because everything else. besides the mandalorian it's just become
Yeah, exactly. Except for Andor. Andor's been good. Yeah, Andor's been good. I mean, you can lay a lot at her feet. And part of this, you know, like the whole wokeness thing with the acolyte and all this other kind of poochua. I mean, all that is at her feet. The whole Kara thing. thing with Cara Dune in The Mandalorian with Gina Carano and all that. I mean, it's all laid at her feet. She is a hot mess.
Yes, Andor was good. Rogue One was good. You know, The Mandalorian obviously was excellent. Ahsoka, okay. The rest of it, you know, kind of meh. And and and the trilogies, the new trilogy was so lackluster. I mean, a lot of people, again, were blaming her. So I think there's going to be some good news on this, but we'll see what it brings at the end of 2025. All right.
Gene Hackman has passed away. One of my favorite, favorite actors. The guy could do just about anything. I still remember him on The Silver Bullet. I remember him on Superman. The movie Superman, when he played Lex Luthor, that was a lot of fun. Of course, Unforgiven, when he won his Oscar. I mean, he's just amazing. Weird story. He and his wife. He's 95. His wife is a few years younger than he is. They were both found dead.
in their home in New Mexico, immediately made me think, I need to check the batteries on my carbon monoxide detector. But what's going on? What's the story here? So the story took... some really tragic twists and turns yesterday. And we know less now than we did originally. So yes, both Hackman, his wife, and one of the family dogs were found dead in the house.
One of the maintenance workers saw through the window what was going on, called the police, and the original thought was that this is a tragedy, that they probably suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning. However... An investigation has been opened up and they cannot find any proof or sign that there was a gas leak in the house.
There also was the fact that the door, one of the doors to the house, was ajar and unlocked. And the most horrible part of all this, it appears that they had been in the house.
maybe up to two weeks um like this oh no and they they found hackman it looked like he had suddenly uh fallen in one part of the house and his wife um was found in in another room surrounded by a bunch of pills oh no and so yeah so now uh yeah no one really knows what's going on um you know the the police have sent away for toxicology reports um you know the initial reports are the it you know it doesn't look like somebody broke in right it doesn't look like somebody physically assaulted them
It is a mystery and one that I think is probably going to come out very tragically. But yeah, they're trying to figure out what really happened. And now... uh, it's gone from, you know, what would have been very sad to now, I think even more tragic. That's too bad. Well, we'll, we'll, we'll, I guess we'll hear what happens. All right. We got three minutes, man. So two of the three, give me two of the three on the streams or what we got here. Give it to me.
All right, well, if I'm going to do two out of three, I'm going to do the two that are maybe worth watching. Let's talk about Last Breath. This is in movie theaters. This is Woody Harrelson in, I think, a really cool, very understated drama. You know, Woody Harrelson and this group of deep... sea divers they they are it's based on a true story this actually happened back in 2012 they they are diving 300 feet below sea level and and they are trying to
save one of the crew members who has drifted away in this very, very dangerous way. They have minutes to find him for him to have any chance to live. And so in real time, we are watching this rescue mission play out. you know the the people on the boat they're trying to help that what the divers are trying to do how they're desperately trying to find this guy and revive him
It's very tense. It's very involved. It doesn't have the emotional aspect. It doesn't have dialogue. It doesn't have a lot of character development. It's just an intense, intense step-by-step telling of the story. But I'm at three waffles. got a pretty good movie here dang okay good all right uh and i like woody harrelson because he is he can be funny he can be quirky but he can also be a very serious actor and uh when he takes to that role
he can really bring it. You know what I mean? He can really bring it on. And he brings both sides of that here. He's kind of the wily old veteran, but there are the moments where you realize... This is the veteran who's going to save everybody's tail because he knows what's really going on. Exactly. All right. Last one. 90 seconds. What do we got? I'm going to go for Running Point, the new Netflix series. They are bringing us a comedy starring Kate Hudson. It's a 10-episode series.
She essentially is the daughter of a basketball family. It's supposed to be loosely based on the L.A. Lakers and Jeannie Boss, who's the president of the L.A. Lakers. And, you know, she's kind of the party girl that nobody takes seriously. They gave her a job running. like their charitable organization and uh the brother who is the president of the organization turns out he's got a drug problem and he decides that she's going to take over and uh you know let's just say
She's very challenged in the new job. She has, you know, the media wants her to fail. Her other brothers want her to fail. They might even, they may even wage a coup to take over. And, you know, we were watching her with a lot of physical comedy, a lot of... silly situations. I think it can use a little bit more heart and, you know, it could be a lot funnier.
It's like one of those old table comedies where you go, yeah, it's Sunday afternoon. I'll watch an episode. Maybe I'll laugh. You can't take it that seriously. I'm at like two and a half waffles. All right. Two and a half waffles for Running Point on Netflix with Kate Hudson. waffle waffle movies.com thank you my friend folks have a great weekend we'll see you on monday
I mean, I don't care about basketball, and so that just immediately kills it for me. I'm going to watch this Woody Harrelson thing, though. Of course, I'm going to have to wait for the stream on that. But what about this Matthew? It'll be on streaming quickly. What about this Matthew Perry documentary? Because this is...
you know this was everybody kind of this is the big thing you know so what what what's going on with matthew the the documentary of the friends actor what what's bad it is tabloid trash It is a horrible documentary. It's about an hour long. It's on Peacock. And it just feels like it was slapped together.
to take advantage of the fact that you might go, oh, gee, I like Matthew Perry, and I've heard about his death, and let's see what they're going to talk about. And the thing that gets me is, you know, there's no real big surprises here. I mean, if you followed the... case, you know, you kind of know what's going on. You know, the people that were arrested, the people are being charged.
with crime surrounding his death um you know i i hate to say it you know what you know what the biggest surprise was that i got out of this whole documentary his dad his dad was the old spice man in the 70s that's the only thing i got out of this i didn't know OK, OK. And the thing that ticks me off even more, OK, these people have been charged with a crime. And and throughout the documentary, about every like three to four minutes, probably at the behest of their lawyers.
They remind you that we're talking about the case that still hasn't gone to trial. And none of these people have definitely been found guilty. Yet they talk about it like they're totally guilty and they did everything that we're talking about. And you can't have your cake you need to, man. OK. Like, you know, this is going to be a big thing with the Luigi Mangione case that's going on in New York.
You know, where the mayor and other people have done these documentaries and talked about the incident and the facts are not established yet. We have not gone to court yet. And you are prejudicing a potential jury. And I think that's a big problem.
And I think it's a big problem when you do it in a really poor way, too, because this thing is boring. It is boring, boring, boring. All right. Well, I won't waste an hour of my life on that then. So I appreciate you giving me that. What about next week, Willie? What are we looking for next week? We are going to see Mr. Robert Pattinson in Mickey 17. Kind of a quirky movie. I don't know if it'll work, but we'll see. Well, Robert Pattinson, interesting guy.
every role that I've ever seen him in, he's always like brooding or, or serious, you know, the Twilight movies, the Batman movie, you know, I just, I haven't ever really seen him do anything that's kind of quirky. So. Well, I guess Cedric Diggory, when he was on Harry Potter, before he got killed. I guess that's it. Right before he died, he was a little quirky, but we'll see.
All right, so we'll be looking for that. In the meanwhile, are you watching anything good on the streams outside of what we talked about? You know, the pit is the best. I'll tell you, you know what, have we talked about Paradise at all? I think you talked about it a little bit last week, but I mentioned it in passing. Paradise is my favorite streaming series right now. It's on Hulu. They're up to Episode 7. Next week is the finale, Episode 8. I'll tell you the story without giving you too much.
We have a Secret Service agent and the President of the United States, Sterling K. Brown, the Secret Service agent, James Marsden playing the President of the United States. There has been a horrible tragedy. Part of society has been moved into a secret bunker and the president has been killed. And Sterling K. Brown, as a Secret Service agent, is trying to find out who did it. And as the series.
unfolds, you start to see what that massive tragedy was, the implications for all the families, the decisions that had to be made, the compromises a lot of these people have made, and how Sterling K. Brown is trying to figure out who killed the president. It is one of the best series I've watched in a long time because it really does kind of, it plays with the timeline in ways that just.
