Episode description

Episode 65 of The Michael Anthony Show sees former Manchester United coach and Fulham manager, Rene Meulensteen, sit down for a conversation with Michael Anthony. The man often credited with changing the way in which underage football is thought about not just at Manchester United but in England as a whole, provides a fascinating insight into his time at the the global sporting giant as well as his principles regarding developing underage footballers.

The Dutch man also details his time as first team coach at the club, in which he helped players like Rooney, Ronaldo, Scholes and Ferdinand claim numerous league titles as well as European success. Not many people have had the honour of sharing a bench with the greatest football manager of all time, but for the best part of a decade, Meulensteen did just that. But when the great man stepped down in 2013, why did his trusted team not take the reigns?

Working under Sir Alex Ferguson, the avoidable decline of Manchester United, the current squad and manager, the clubs future as well as Rene's unique viewpoint on the modern game are all discussed. A must listen for fans of the beautiful game.
