Speaker 2

Now.

Speaker 1

If you've been paying attention on the Internet in general and across every news organization on the planet, you have seen covered these guys out of North Carolina who one slash didn't win the Blue Marlin tournament three and a half million bucks, disqualified, the marlin being this disqualified because they had a little nibble mart from a shark on it. Everyone knows like the outline of the scandal, but no

one knows the real story of the fish. We're hearing the full This is the old man in sea level detail on what went on that day and where things stand now and the people behind the rod, behind the steering wheel, behind the boat. Guys, introduce yourselves, since you're gonna hear this on Friday, but boys telling them about yourselves.

Speaker 3

I'm Ashley Blue.

Speaker 4

I'm the owner of the Sensation Beyley Goward.

Speaker 5

I was the angler on the Sensation.

Speaker 6

Greg McCoy, I'm the captain at Sensation Sport Fishing.

Speaker 1

All right, everybody, Friday watch for the drop on Friday. Hear the full story of the three point five million dollar Marlon that that wasn't or isn't right now it isn't maybe will be.

Speaker 4

It's media podcast. Welcome to meet Eder Trivia, the only game show where conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer new Arth, and today we're joined by Jannis Putellis Brody Henderson, Seth Morris, Randall, Williams, Corine Schneider, Mackenzie, Elmquist, Max Barda and Sam Bates. Now, Sam, this is your first time on Trivia, so tell folks what you do here at Meat Eater.

Speaker 7

Thank you for having mem Hm, I appreciate it. Did you introduce Randall?

Speaker 4

Randall's on the show all the time. Our audience knows doctor Randall well, but they don't know Sam Bates. Sam, I got to tell you right off the bat. We have like a rule here. It's no computers.

Speaker 7

How am I supposed to get my work done? Sun? Spencer?

Speaker 4

This is your work for the next forty five minutes. I was playing trivia and beating Doctor Randall. So, Sam, tell folks what you do here? Do here at the company?

Speaker 7

I am a video producer here?

Speaker 4

What does that mean?

Speaker 7

That means I get to produce fun videos that you guys get to watch about hunting.

Speaker 4

What would be an example of a series like the Youth Work most me Eater? I heard of that one.

Speaker 7

I've just finished season twelve, and yeah, a bunch of other ones.

Speaker 4

And Sam, how do you feel about your chances at Meat Eater Trivia?

Speaker 7

Very awful?

Speaker 4

Okay, not good? Are you familiar with what goes on here?

Speaker 8

I have no clue because the producer on the main show that we produce, Sam, I think that you should have higher.

Speaker 5

You know, a little more confidence, you a little.

Speaker 8

More confidence than yourself. I mean you think about what this this trivia show is about every day.

Speaker 7

Yeah, but I don't are these questions about the Meat Eater show.

Speaker 4

Meat Eater Trivia is from Meat Eater's four verticals, which are hunting, fishing, conservation and cooking. And the winner we'll get to choose where a five hundred dollars donation from Meat Eater goes. So that's what's going to happen here, Sam.

Speaker 8

Oh, so start thinking about now where you want to give you five hundreds?

Speaker 7

I already know now.

Speaker 4

Each week here at Trivia, we reveal a new stat for the Stat of the Week. This week, we're looking at the average player scores after sixty games. Over the first twenty games, the average player score was four point twenty five. Over the next twenty games, the average score was four point three, and over the last twenty games, the average score was four point nine to two. So our average player score has increased fourteen percent throughout the

history of the show. How do you feel about that, Brody?

Speaker 9

Right?

Speaker 4

People getting smarter? Are you asking an easier question? You tell me, what do you think the different people? M oh Randall is trying to say that there was a moment in time when Randall wasn't on the show and now he is.

Speaker 6

I'm not sure what to think of that. You think, I can't make anything of it.

Speaker 4

Any people are just.

Speaker 6

Getting better at guess and your question, okay, that could be.

Speaker 8

Have we ever done the stat of just straight up questions? Who gets the most questions right?

Speaker 4

Well, we had a stat a few months ago. It was when Lebron James set the scoring record in the NBA. We looked at the scoring record for Meat Eater Trivia, which was held by Steve at that point. I think partially because he's been on the most games. He's also a top tier competitor. But I think if we looked at that stat now, Brody might be in the lead again. He's been on more shows than Steve as of late.

Now here's our zero Percenter question of the week, which tests how much knowledge players have retained from previous games. This question was from episode three seventy four. The topic was gear and nobody got it right? What city is home to the Bass Pro Shops Pyramid? If you know the answer, you can shout it out. Does anybody know?

Speaker 2

It?

Speaker 5

Isn't it Springfield, Missouri?

Speaker 4

No?

Speaker 10

Memphis?

Speaker 3

No, it's in Florida.

Speaker 7

What's the pyramid?

Speaker 5

Oh?

Speaker 3

No, the period isn't Memphis, Tallahassee.

Speaker 4

Randall got it. It is Memphis. The incorrect answers given in that show were Saint Louis, Springfield, Branson, Nashville, and Omaha. The correct answer was Memphis. I think that was before Randal even played, so Randal didn't even need to be here for that episode to get it right.

Speaker 8

I must have seen some other big pyramid down theref headquarters, or maybe I thought they had something to do with that.

Speaker 3

Noos been there it.

Speaker 4

Nope, we have some housekeep me to get to. In a previous game of trivia, we talked about Puck Satani Phil, the weather forecasting groundhog. I got interest punk satani Phil the weather forecasting groundhog. Brody took offense to that because he's very Pennsylvania.

Speaker 9

I mean, seth, Yeah, I agree. Okay, you could say I'm very Pennsylvania too.

Speaker 4

Now in that episode, I refer to Phil as a marmot, to which Giannis, Brody and Steve pushed back on. Well, after a little research, I am thrilled to announce that I was right and they were wrong. Here's why. The term marmot refers to the genus Marmoda, which contains fifteen species of large ground squirrels, including the woodchuck. It would be the equivalent of referring to a large mouthed bass as a type of black bass, which is the genus

they are part of. So simply put, all woodchucks are marmots, but not all marmots are woodchucks.

Speaker 6

That's what we argue way against. You said, they were the same thing. It's like saying a fox squirrel and a gray squirrel are the same thing.

Speaker 8

No, not at all.

Speaker 11

No, it's not.

Speaker 4

I just explained to you different types of marmots. Marmott is the marmon is the genus. So a rock chuck is a marmot and Alaskan marmot is.

Speaker 6

A Marmotybement, the argument we were having was you saying that the marmots out here are the same as woodchucks back there.

Speaker 4

That's the argument we were having. I don't think it was. I think you were saying we might have been arguing. Yanni, you were the one who originally brought this topic up. Are you satisfied?

Speaker 3

Very satisfied.

Speaker 4

Thank you.

Speaker 9

If you went back to Pennsylvania and you're talking to a farmer and said, can I hunt marmots on your place, he'd be like, the hell are you talking about? Sure, But if you said can I kill the groundhogs in your field? He'd be like, absolutely, get them all.

Speaker 4

All woodchucks or marmots. Not all marmots are woodchucks. Also on a previous show, Yani has talked about watching big horn sheep head butt Suarro cacti, but he didn't know why they did it well. According to a recent article in the La Times, big horn sheep resort to eating cactus when they're very hungry or very thirsty. Before they do that, though, they will head butt and kick the cactus so that they can get to its watery innards. This isn't as nutritious as their normal diet, but will

hold them over when times are tough. So, Yanni, you were watching some desperate big horn sheep that wanted to eat that cactus.

Speaker 8

I thought he was just getting his aggression out.

Speaker 4

Could be both, Now the Shelby Inexpert. Today's round is a four, so our winner should get eight correct answers. And with that we're onto the game of trivia. Play the drop, Phill, Look, I need to know what I stand and win everything. How's that? Just tend to win everything?

Speaker 9

Demon suckers?

Speaker 4

Sam? As a producer, don't you appreciate what Phil has created there for the intro to trivia?

Speaker 7

I appreciate everything Phil does. He's a talented Man's.

Speaker 4

That's the right way to say. Randall made the observation that after a recent episode we recorded, Phil was sitting over there he looked like he needed a cigarette and he got just on working a full shift as a nine to one one operator. That's how busy Phil is during these shows. Question one the topic is biology and this will be multiple choice. What does the first A

in NOAH stand for atmospheric American Administration or aquatic? And the acronym Noah is no a A. What does the first A in NOAH stand for atmospheric American administration or aquatic?

Speaker 6

Karen's just laying her board on the table to right, h.

Speaker 4

She hasn't put her name on the board yet. Either, help me out, Karen, put your name up there. There we go. Here's the question one more time for Karen. What does the first A in NOAH stand for atmospheric American Administration aquatic? A fairly confident room Krinn showing her answers for all the same Sam, what do you think of Karin's answer so far that she has there?

Speaker 6

Yeah, I think you gotta hide your answer because it might affect someone else's answer.

Speaker 4

Are you ready, Karen? So everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Brody saying atmospheric, Karin saying aquatic, Seth saying atmospheric, Max saying atmospheric, Mackenzie saying aquatic, Jannis sang atmospheric Sam, and Randall saying atmospheric. They got it. The correct answer is atmosphere. The acronym NOAH stands for National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The federal agency makes daily weather forecasts, issues severe storm warnings, monitors climate trends, and

supports marine commerce. Their mission is to better understand the natural world and help protect its resources on a global scale. Question two. This is our listener question of the week, which was won by Morgan Shephard for sending this great question. Morgan is going to get a book signed by Steve who was the outlaw that executed two Idaho game morgans in nineteen eighty one? Who was the outlaw that executed two Idaho game morgans in nineteen eighty one. Quick answers

from Randall and Brody. I assume both you boys.

Speaker 7

Have multiple choices.

Speaker 4

Is not the only question one will be multiple choice. The rest as our pill in the blank. You are sitting close to Randall, so keep an eye on what he writes next time. She literally picked up Randall's board.

Speaker 6

I'm not sure how I feel about.

Speaker 4

The first that the first sam Uh? People take this pretty serious in here, that that was a significant imment.

Speaker 5

I feel like I feel like.

Speaker 4

Again, who was the outlaw that executed two Idaho game wardens in nineteen eighty one? Looks like Randal and Brodie and Sam maybe the only one who didn't ride, Yiannis. No answer from you. I am surprised. Are you aware this? This feels like an question that would benefit age to which you have.

Speaker 6

It's calling you old, but that was a long ago.

Speaker 4

You would have been like that. It's kind of a five how old one?

Speaker 3

Or three?

Speaker 4

Yeah? Three years old and you don't remember, Yanni.

Speaker 6

I notice you're sticking with the cursive on your board.

Speaker 3

Yeah, that might be a bad move. That's what's killing me.

Speaker 7

It's impressive cursive though it is.

Speaker 5

It looks great.

Speaker 4

Thank you again? Who was the outlaw that executed two Idaho game mordens in nineteen eighty one?

Speaker 5

I'm guessing Shelby got this one wrong.

Speaker 3

Do we need a first and last name?

Speaker 4

If you have last name, that's good enough.

Speaker 3

Not just the first uh, not just first name.

Speaker 5

You're making it really easier.

Speaker 9

I know this, but I can't think of it.

Speaker 5

It's the most common name.

Speaker 3

It's really making me mad.

Speaker 4

Yanni. Are you ready?

Speaker 3

Yeah?

Speaker 4

Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have saying Claude Dallas Ny without an answer, Seth saying Josie Wells, Wales saying John Smith Mackenzie without an answer, Giannis saying Bundy Sam saying Claude Dallas. If it's wrong, it's Randall's fault. Randall saying Claude Dallas. The correct answer was Claude Dallas, good job.

Speaker 3

Sam.

Speaker 4

Claude was living in his trapping camp in a remote section of Blm Land on the Idaho Nevada border when it happened. Officer Pogue and Officer Whelms were responding to a complaint about sage grouse poaching when they approached Claude's camp. When the wardens entered a tent that contained poached bobcat pelts, Claude shot them with a handgun. He was sentenced to thirty years in prison and was released in two thousand

and five. No one is certain of his current whereabouts, but he's been sited living in Utah, Idaho, and Alaska.

Speaker 8

He only got thirty years per thirty years in cold Blood.

Speaker 4

So I don't remember what the difference is between like the homicide charges. He got the lesser homicide charge, but then the max penalty for that, and then he was also let out on earth bail. I think he even escaped at some point there. Yeah, but he's on the free now and he has been for eighteen years, so watch out wow. Question three, the topic is cooking. According to the World Food at Lis, beer brots are this

state's version of soul food. Again, according to the World Food at Liss, beer brots are this state's version of soul food.

Speaker 5

Sam, I hope you get this one with the confident Room.

Speaker 7

I'm now an honest player, Max.

Speaker 4

A confident room, Corrina. Are you going to get this one right?

Speaker 3

I hope?

Speaker 4

What was the source on this?

Speaker 8

I don't know.

Speaker 4

According to the World Food at Liss, I hope this isn't a trick question. Is everybody ready? Sam?

Speaker 9

There are no trick questions yet, right, Spencer?

Speaker 2

Yeah?

Speaker 10

I feel like if I get the song in the World Food at lists got it wrong?

Speaker 4

Sam?

Speaker 2

Are you?

Speaker 7

My answers are also multiple choice.

Speaker 4

You pick one before we reveal. Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Brody and Corin and Seth. The entire room. The entire room said Wisconsin. The entire room got it right. Beer Brots gained popularity in Wisconsin after prohibition ended in nineteen thirty three. The regional dish became a national sensation when the Milwaukee County Stadium started serving

them at baseball games in the nineteen fifties. If you want to learn how to make our brought recipe that has a perfect five star rating on the mediater dot com, then check out Danielle Pruitt's recipe called classic Venison Brots. That that's this.

Speaker 6

Question was like Brot's cooked and beer orrots?

Speaker 4

It said. Beer brots are Wisconsin's version of soul food. Question four, The topic is fishing. Savage Gear won the twenty sixteen I Cast Award for Best Hardbait when they debuted a top water lure that mimicked this animal. Again, the topic is fishing. Savage Gear won the twenty sixteen I Cast Award for Best Hardbait when they debuted a top water lure that mimicked this animal. Seth was confident, Seth or you going to get this one right? What gear was it? Twenty sixteen six was the I Cast

Award for Best Hardbait. You don't have to say too much. I don't know what percentage. Are you confident that you have this right? Maybe fifty fifty percent. Savage Gear won the twenty sixteen I Cast Award for Best Hardbait when they debuted a top water lure that mimicked this animal.

Speaker 5

You're really speedy for only fifty percent.

Speaker 3

Just going with my gut.

Speaker 4

It's good observation. Mackenzie Randall, how are you going to get this one right?

Speaker 10

It's just a wild guess based on.

Speaker 4

Based on what he knows, based on the context. Brod, are you doing a lot of writing and scribbling over here? Are you ready?

Speaker 8

I hope with something crazy like they did, like a baby, like a toddler?

Speaker 4

Everybody is everybody ready? Yes, we're just waiting on you, Brody.

Speaker 8

All right, give me a sex now we have a second. Sam had written down Louisiana also is one of her guesses for food. But I just want to know where that what you were thinking.

Speaker 7

The term soul food just like totally took me for a different loop. And then when I thought beer brot so I was like, wait.

Speaker 8

I think they only were reason down there. They know of the word brought worst is because it's like they use it when they make fun of Northerners, and they'll be like, oh, yeah, I went to the store and got me a couple of tool tree brought worst.

Speaker 4

That's exactly what you sound like. Yeah, are you doing a bit there? No? Okay, yeah, I didn't think so. Brody, are we ready?

Speaker 8

Man?

Speaker 4

I don't like my answer. His whiteboard has to be full of words at this point. I haven't seen him stop writing for the last two minutes. Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Brody saying rat he crossed out What does that say? Frogs? What else did you cross out? Duck and frog again? Karn says rat, Seth says frog, Max says duck. Mackenzie says minnow, Giannis says frog, Sam says shrimpies. Randall says frog. We have a correct answer in the room. It's duck Max. He is the

only one to get it right. The Savage gear suicide was made by taking a three D scan of an actual duckling. The lure comes in four inch and six inch versions that are painted to replicate Mallard's wood ducks, loons, and yellow ducklings. They retail for eighteen dollars to twenty one dollars and have three hundred and five reviews for an average of four point three stars on Amazon. Seth, did that sound familiar with duck? Would have been like a second guest if you had a second guess.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I was picturing that bait. Yeah.

Speaker 9

The thing that threw me off was you said hard bait and a lot of frogs are soft.

Speaker 4

That's that's a good way to look at which. Yeah, that's how I cast categorized them. Brody. One of the answers you had crossed off was duck. How close were you to picking that?

Speaker 3

Actually that?

Speaker 4

I thought it was frog or rat?

Speaker 5

But have you seen have you guys seen the lure? Yeah, it's actually pretty sweet.

Speaker 4

Yeah, those things work.

Speaker 9

I've never used it, but I've never used it, but have seen many videos.

Speaker 8

I know my dad's pond where he lives. You can catch some giant snap from.

Speaker 3

Turtles on that.

Speaker 8

Oh, they love to eat the baby goslings and baby ducks.

Speaker 4

Question five. The topic is woodsmanship. One of the five worst states to live in if you hate Mosquitos. This is according to a twenty twenty three study that looked at data from every state except Hawaii. Again, you need to name one of the five worst states to live in if you hate mosquitos. You have forty nine options. Hawaii it is not one of them. What is the data? I will tell you this. This is according to a twenty twenty three study that looked at data from every state.

I won't tell you what that data is right now.

Speaker 10

Total number of mosquitos not.

Speaker 4

Not going to help you there. You talk about it in the follow up factoid.

Speaker 3

I don't think mosquitos in Hawaii is there you.

Speaker 4

Need to I looked it up and there are some, Oh, there are. For now, you need to tell me one of the five worst states to live in if you hate mosquitoes.

Speaker 7

Can I write just one?

Speaker 5

Just one, just one station.

Speaker 4

Anymore than that you'll get it wrong. Did you get an answer on where?

Speaker 5

I just got it yesterday?

Speaker 4

Your question. I'm not going to tell you what that data is, but it was from a twenty twenty three study.

Speaker 10

Yeah, I've got several answers based on what the data is.

Speaker 4

So okay, Seth, do you have any ducklings in your tackle box?

Speaker 3

No? Tough catching walleyes on those.

Speaker 4

That would be exciting. Does everybody have an answer for one of the five worst states to live in if you hate mosquitoes, we.

Speaker 5

Should try the duckling and the pondou back.

Speaker 4

Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Brody sang Alaska, Corin sang Louisiana, Seth saying Alaska, Max saying Minnesota, Mackenzie saying Alaska, Jannis saying Florida, Sam saying with Monte Randall saying Minnesota. The five states are Louisiana, Florida, South Dakota, New York, and Texas. What so we had a few

correct answers in there. Come on an study. This study used a one point scale that looked at data like average summer temperature, rainfall, number of mosquito species, number of mosquito transmitted diseases, and Google searches per one hundred thousand people relating to mosquito prevention. Louisiana held the top spot with a score of sixty three, followed by Florida at sixty, South Dakota at fifty nine, New York at fifty eight, and Texas at fifty six.

Speaker 6

South Dakota is a big Mosquito State Haunt Spenser, it is it's real there.

Speaker 9

We should make them go to Alaska, yesh with no shirt on, just sit there for a few hours.

Speaker 8

I think why Alaska didn't make it is maybe because it's such a short Mosquito season.

Speaker 12

Maybe, but when you're there also, that's a lot of stut there that is real cold and would not do well with their criteria.

Speaker 4

Phil, we are halfway through the game of trivia. Give us a scoreboard update.

Speaker 11

It is a very tight game. Everyone is on the board as well. We've got Mackenzie with one point seven, Karent have two, and we have a five way tie the first place between Sam Randall, Max Giannis, and Brody who all have three points apiece.

Speaker 6

I would be so excited the first half of the game never even took place.

Speaker 4

If we went to a five way tie.

Speaker 2

I'm just saying, if Sam wins, like that first question, we will throw.

Speaker 4

If it comes to it, what she cheated?

Speaker 5

No, No.

Speaker 4

Question six. The topic is fishing. This next great question comes to us via Alan Scoa. If you have a question you think is right for media to trivia, you can send it to Trivia at the meat Eater dot com. Lake Atasca is the headwater for this American river. Oh, Lake Ataska is the headwater for this American river? You spell I T A S c A. Lake Atasca is the headwater for this American river?

Speaker 3

Is that lake in America?

Speaker 5

Yes?

Speaker 4

I wasn't going to help you.

Speaker 5

True, very good question.

Speaker 4

Max, And I'm not even going to tell you if Max is right or wrong. But Max had an emphatic yes again, Lake Ataska is the headwater for this American river. Max, You're only hurting yourself when you give out that hints, because I think you were also the only person who looked confident in this room. Randall, how we do it over here?

Speaker 10

Not great, Spencer, not great?

Speaker 3

Not a lot to go on in that In that question.

Speaker 4

Lake Itasca is the headwater for this American river.

Speaker 5

Do you want me to tell you the town that's by it too?

Speaker 4

Yeah?

Speaker 7

Yeah?

Speaker 6

Talking is our Randall?

Speaker 4

Or excuse me? Are Max's hints helping you out over there?

Speaker 7

No? Ye?

Speaker 4

Is everybody ready?

Speaker 3

Yes? And no? But mostly no.

Speaker 4

My task is the headwater for this American river.

Speaker 7

Just because I thought of a river name.

Speaker 4

Finally, Randall, are you ready? Sure? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Brody sang Hudson, Karinn sang Hudson, Seth sang Fox, Max sang Mississippi, Mackenzie saying Hudson, Yana saying Mississippi, Sam sang Potomac, Randall saying Hudson. The correct answer is Mississippi River. Max and Yanni got it right. Max had such confidence that if you knew anything about Max, you would know what part of the country he's from. Which is where Max Midwest, but Minnesota or North Dakota.

Which one North Dakota basically Minnesota.

Speaker 2

Yeah, but every every summer we would go to Park Rapids, Minnesota as a family celebrate the fourth July, and we would all go to Itaska State Parks.

Speaker 10

So that's that's the bone you've thrown Max here.

Speaker 4

It's just Max happened to be in the room. At the start of the Mississippi and Minnesota. The river is just eighteen feet wide and knee deep. From there, it travels two five hundred miles to the Gulf of Mexico. Although parts of the Mississippi River have been flowing for seventy million years, Lake of Tasca wasn't created until after glaciers receded about ten thousand years ago. Question seven, The topic is cooking. What sauce is traditionally served on eggs benedict?

What sauce is traditionally served on eggs benedict looks like the entire room which spelling does not matter in this gif. Thank God, is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers. Every single player says holland as they got it right. The correct answer is Hollandais sauce. Eggs Benedict was invented in the late eighteen hundreds in Manhattan. A traditional eggs benedict meal includes an English muffin, Canadian bacon, poached eggs,

and Hollandaise sauce. If you want to learn how to make an untraditional version of this breakfast classic, then go to the mediater dot com and watch Kimmy Werner's video called how to make Lobster Benedict.

Speaker 5

Oh that sounds tasty.

Speaker 4

Question eight. We will get a scoreboard update from Filthy Engineer after this. The topic is conservation. This next great question comes to us via Ron Moon. If you have a question you think is right for meat Eat to Trivia, you can send it to trivia at the Medeater dot com. This National Forest, which is located in Missouri, was almost named He'll Billy National Forest? What miss in Missouri? This National for four wrist, which is located in Missouri was

almost named Hillbilly National Forest. A not very confident room, Yanni with the quickest answer, Yanni, do you have this one right?

Speaker 3

Maybe?

Speaker 9

Maybe I think we hunted in this national forest.

Speaker 4

There's a hint, Seth, I can't remember. This National Forest, which is located in Missouri, was almost named Hillbilly National Forest.

Speaker 8

The only reason I probably would know is because I probably, as the once producer of the Meat Eater television show, probably got the permit to film on that.

Speaker 4

Some generous hints here from Yanni, Seth and Max.

Speaker 7

Brody's doing like deep meditation over here, trying to smell he's doing. I don't even think I could name a town in Missouri.

Speaker 4

Oh well, we need you to come off the National forest. Brody. Did all this talk of permits and filming and hunting help you out?

Speaker 3

No?

Speaker 4

Okay? This National Forest, which is located in Missouri, was almost named Hillbilly National Forest. Does everybody have an answer?

Speaker 5

Seth doesn't?

Speaker 4

Seth? Do we need to move? You do we need to separate you.

Speaker 9

In maxb My mind is garbage today.

Speaker 4

Monkeys is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Brody saying Ozark, Karen without an answer, Seth without an answer, Max saying Ozark, Mackenzie saying Jefferson, Jannis saying Mark Twain, Sam saying Ozark's Randall saying Ozarks. We have a correct answer in the room. It's Mark Twain National Yanni. You got it right.

Speaker 5

That's impressive.

Speaker 4

In nineteen thirty seven, National Forest supervisor James Dial wrote a letter to the regional director with fifteen potential names for Missouri's only national forest. The list included options like John James Audubon National Forest, Daniel Boone National Forest, Kickapoo National Forest, O Sage National Forest, Glades National Forest, Hillbilly National Forest, and the eventual winner, Mark Twain National Forest. Yanni. Is that in place that you indeed had to get

a film permit for? What's upon a time?

Speaker 8

You know, thinking back, we did, Seth, what do we film there with Parker Hall the squirrel? Huh oh, that's right.

Speaker 4

I was kept thinking about we're just spot burn a place.

Speaker 3

It's a giant forest.

Speaker 4

I think it's one point five million acres.

Speaker 9

I think if you pick any patch of trees in Missouri, you're gonna find squirrels.

Speaker 8

Right, But Steven Ie hundred Turkey's there, I think the year prior to going there for squirrels with Parker Hall Phil.

Speaker 4

We have two questions left. I feel like Yanni may have separated himself from the pack. Where does the scoreboard?

Speaker 11

Stankrinn, Seth and Mackenzie are no longer in the running, but we've got Sam, Randall and Brody all with four points apiece, Max has five, and Jannis indeed separated himself and it's in first place.

Speaker 8

With nine.

Speaker 4

Question nine, the topic is hunting. Sidney Wells, who is the daughter of Tim Wells, started creating outdoor content for this company in twenty twenty one. Sydney Wells, who is the daughter of Tim Wells, started creating outdoor content for this company in twenty twenty one. Randall, do you have this one right?

Speaker 3

I do?

Speaker 4

Looks like Max and Seth have this one right as well. Sam, are you confident? No? Okay?

Speaker 5

Do you want me to help you out?

Speaker 4

Yeah?

Speaker 5

Nope, not happening. I've never won trivia, so I'm gunning for you.

Speaker 4

How long ago twenty twenty one. Sidney Wells is the daughter of Tim Wells, started creating outdoor content for this company in twenty twenty one. Joanni, I think we're waiting on you.

Speaker 3

I'm ready.

Speaker 4

Oh, we are waiting on Brody. Take it back, Brody, are we ready?

Speaker 3

I'll show you, but you can't change it.

Speaker 6

Have no idea.

Speaker 4

Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Brody sag Yetti Krim without an answer, Seth and Max saying barstool, Mackenzie saying bass pro, Jannis saying MASSI yoake, Sam saying Wells Company, Brandle. Excuse me, Randall barstowel the second time? Yeah, I called you Brandle. So it happens more often than you think. The correct answer is barstool, Max, Seth and Randall got it right. Tim is famous for videoing his extreme bowhunting exploits, like the time he speared himself in

the leg while climbing a tree in Africa. Sidney has been making outdoor content since twenty twelve as the co host of Relentless Pursuit and the host of viral outdoors Phil We have one question left, what does the leaderboard look like?

Speaker 11

Well, Max just made it interesting by tying it up. It's Janis and Max and six points apiece. Randall has five and can technically still claw his way back.

Speaker 4

Question ten, the topic is traffic. This next great question comes to his via Mitch Pete. If you have a question you think is right for Meat Eater Trivia, you can send it to trivia at the meat eater dot com. This state, which has a beaver on its flag, was nicknamed the beaver State because fur trading dominated its economy in the eighteen hundreds. This state, which has a beaver on its flag, was nicknamed the beaver State because fur

trading dominated its economy in the eighteen hundreds. Yanni hasn't picked up his board yet. He likes the drama.

Speaker 8

Eighteen hundreds is a long time, Max.

Speaker 4

How do you feel there is a specific period.

Speaker 6

There where beavers were part of the economy.

Speaker 3

Yeah, it seems largely.

Speaker 4

Like I've said enough, Max, you must you should know this one.

Speaker 2

Maybe, I hope, I hope I get it.

Speaker 4

We would need Randall to get this right and Max and Jannis to both get it wrong to go to overtime, or we could have Yanni and Max both get it right, and then those two would go to overtime. Yanni has yet to come up with an answer you, even though Brody is making eyes at him, try and give him hints. What are you? What are you rooting for?

Speaker 3

Over here? Bro the Beaver State.

Speaker 4

I'm rooting for.

Speaker 5

Beavers live.

Speaker 4

This state, which has a beaver on its flag, was nicknamed the beaver State because fur trading dominated its economy in the eighteen hundreds.

Speaker 5

Yeah, I'm trying to think. Think of flags right now.

Speaker 4

You can recognize a lot of state flags. I'm just picturing all the Yanni we are waiting on you, still thinking. I hope you can do better than that. Are you ready go ahead and reveal your answers? We have Brody sang Oregon, Krinne sang Virginia, Seth sang Missouri, Max saying Maine. Mackenzie sang Michigan, Honest saying Wyoming, Sam saying Oregon, Randall saying Organ. The correct answer is Oregon. A few folks got it right. Other nicknames for Oregon include the Webfoot

State and the Sunset State. The beaver has been an official state symbol of Oregon since nineteen sixty nine, and they're fittingly the only state that has a beaver on its flag. Although the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission rejected a beaver trapping ban in twenty twenty, it's believed legislators will revisit the idea again in twenty twenty three. With Randall getting that.

Speaker 6

Right and State or Oregon University of Oregon State.

Speaker 7

Town called Beaverton too Beaverton's.

Speaker 4

With Randall getting that right and Max and Yanni getting that wrong, we are going to overtime play the drop, Philly.

Speaker 1

I think just cut it at if you ain't first your last, and then like going to other stuff.

Speaker 4

It's funny. I never liked it a.

Speaker 5

Phil cough Man.

Speaker 4

The tie breaking topic is conservation. What year was conservationist Steve Irwin killed by a stingray? This is a numerical question to whoever is closest between our three competitors left will be declared the winner. You can go over, you can go under, and if somebody in this room hits it dead nuts, then we will add an extra one to the donation. So everybody should play along. That's right, Mackenzie, write down an answer for what year was conservationist Steve

Erwin killed by a stingray? Max, how nervous are you.

Speaker 5

Skill on the ten?

Speaker 3

Yeah?

Speaker 5

Yeah, I'm sweating over here.

Speaker 4

Okay, I think you should be. Have you even ever been close to it? This is the closest thing Max, I'm pulling for you and I when.

Speaker 12

It as a lifelong How old is daughter? I don't know, Sam, This is very serious at this moment. You again, Max has never won. There's a lot riding on this answer. Randall, you were coming to the mic.

Speaker 4

What what do you have.

Speaker 10

As a lifelong conservationist and committed steward of our shared resources? The question of when Steverwin died is right in my wheelhouse?

Speaker 4

Exactly right?

Speaker 3

You know it, exactly.

Speaker 4

He's joking. I'm joking.

Speaker 10

I think, I'm I think, I'm I think.

Speaker 4

Does everybody have an answer? Karen, please write down an answer. We may add an extra one donation to the end of the game. What year was conservation is? This is stever killed by a stingray. Max hasn't changed his answer at all, neither his Yanni or Randall.

Speaker 5

Sticking with my guy.

Speaker 4

I had a lot of time to sit here and think about it. Oh what are we doing? Randall?

Speaker 10

I forgot what year it currently was.

Speaker 4

Okay, I did my math right.

Speaker 8

I feel like I should.

Speaker 4

Oh. Now Yanni's getting nervous crazy.

Speaker 7

I had the same answer as you, and then you changed your Who.

Speaker 4

Is everybody read shit?

Speaker 7

I don't know.

Speaker 4

We've now had Randall change his answer, and he's thinking about changing again because Sam declared it was the same answer that she had. Yanni has already become nervous, picked up his board and changed his answer. Here, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Broke saying two thousand and six, Krin sang twenty twelve, Seth sang two thousand and seven, Mackenzie sang two thousand and nine, Sam sang twenty eleven. Our three competitors left. We have Max saying

two thousand and eight, Yanni, what did that say? Twenty eighteen, Yanni sang twenty eighteen, and Randall saying twelve. One of you got it right on the nose. The correct answer is two thousand and six, making Max and Brody got it right on the nose. So we now have a six hundred dollars donation, Thank you, thank you, instead of five hundred dollars. Max, how does it feel.

Speaker 5

It feels great.

Speaker 4

Take a victory lap. Thanks you, folks. What you need to take the rest of the day off all you're at?

Speaker 5

Thank you?

Speaker 4

Thank you? Well done, Max, Thank you. How did you come to the math that it happened in two thousand and eight, which was two years off from the.

Speaker 2

No I was thinking back to my childhood and I watched him on an animal Planet for like the longest time ever, So I was just thinking about grade school.

Speaker 4

Well done, Max. He was filming at the Great Barrier Reef when it happened. The stingray pierced his chest, penetrating his heart and causing massive trauma. The producer of the show he was filming said and died within a minute. The entire thing was captured on video, but the footage has never surfaced. So, with Brody handing it right on the nose, we now have a six hundred dollars donation, Max, where is that going to go?

Speaker 5

Brody? Do you want to talk about this?

Speaker 3

Oh?

Speaker 4

No, you go for you, go for it. I'm gonna say, he's never been here before, folks, I'm gonna give him a chance.

Speaker 5

But I was actually thinking about this before before the game.

Speaker 2

I'm gonna say, the HRC, and that's the Hunting and Retrieving Club.

Speaker 4

What do you like about them?

Speaker 5

A lot of things. It's a lot of hunting dogs.

Speaker 2

They put on tests for titling your dogs, and I have two tests coming up this next month.

Speaker 5

For so you're hoping. No, I'm not trying to sway the judges.

Speaker 4

That's a new org that we've donated to. Now, Ruby, has she been to their test before? Multiple? How does she do?

Speaker 5

I think she's passed eight eight tests, eight dollar ten tests.

Speaker 4

So where does that put her? She like working on a certain certification right now, and yeah, she's.

Speaker 5

Working on her level. Yeah, working on her finished title.

Speaker 2

Okay, So and then after that we can move into the AKAC, which is a totally different thing, totally different type of hunt tests and everything like that.

Speaker 4

So well done, Max six hundred dollars donation going to the HRC some from Meat Eater. Max and Ruby join us next time for more Meat Eater Trivia, the only game show where conservation always wins.
