This podcast. This episode is brought to you by Sea Foam Motor Treatment, a proud podcast sponsor of Meat Eater. Welcome to Meat Eater Trivia, the only game show where conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer Newhart, and today we're joined by Stephen Ranella, Danielle Pruett, Hunter, Spencer Randall, Williams, Jordan Sillers, Tyler Jones, and Casey Smith. Now, for most of you, this is your first time playing Meat Eater Trivia. So we're gonna go around the room and you're going

to tell us how you think you'll perform. Danielle, she's our culinary expert, host of Wild and Hole sourced YouTube series. Danielle, how do you think you'll do in Meat Eater Trivia? Pretty bad? Maybe you'll clean out. I've almost been dreading this all day. Oh I'm sorry, it's my brain is not able to retain information in the form of like people, places numbers. Yeah, so I just feel it might be

a little embarrassed. Maybe you'll clean up in the culinary. Well, he'll throw you a bone though, but yeah, I don't think you can do it because he's got so many first time players. Well do you know what they all have in common, Steve, Texas, Texas. They're all from Hunters played before now. Normally folks who are on the Meat Eater payroll don't get a bone thrown to them. But because we have so many new players in town and you're all from Texas, you might hear a question that's

from your neck of the woods state was the element in? Jordan? You're our firearms expert, someone who helps create Cow's week in review. Jordan, how do you think you're gonna do in Meat Eater trivia? Um? He's so good. No, Well, we were talking about movies on the podcast just a few minutes ago. Um, remember that movie Slumdog Millionaire about the guy and his life experiences perfectly match up with the questions he's asked. Yeah, if that happens to me,

I'll do great. Okay, but if not, that's not and then I'll make a movie about it and you'll invest exactly in. Jordan was telling me something interesting that going between Canada and Texas. When you're in Canada, uh, you're too American, and when you're in Texas you're too Canadian. Right. Yeah, yeah, so I was born in Canada. That's where my family is, so we'd go up and visit Um after we moved to the States, and when we were up there we were the Americans, but then in the States we were

the Canadians. Sure, so I just, I just I'm disenfranchised. Yes, Tyler and Casey they host the Element podcast and have some YouTube content dropping on Meat Eaters YouTube feed later this year. How do you boys think you'll do in Meat Eater Trivia? I think I'll be in the middle of the pack. I've done two of these just listening in my car, out of my truck, and uh, done pretty well. Give us a score. I just hope I don't miss the Texas like, like, what are the five

six range? Yeah? Probably like that in five maybe you pause and hitting pause. Is there a pause button? Nos? From home? No? Not until do you go through the rules? I kind of wait, so quiet down. Then he says, show your answer. Yeah, until it's not interesting anymore. That's that's how much I got. I got a question for you. Yeah, that's up. But one is a thing I thought I had just learned. It's really interesting, is that you know Randall, he's the only person that works here that has a PhD.

Is that true. Yeah, really, and he that's so esteemed that at the library they made it that he can check out books as long as he wants. Wow, no late fees, no due date, that's what That's how these people take care of each other. Yeah, that's how the eggheads. That's like what the eggheads will do for each other. Yeah. And like professors, you're always granted five minutes being late for every degree you had. Um, so how late does that allow you to be ran? Yeah? No one told

me about that rule. When he takes a book, it's just his it's nice. Most of us chumps only have five minute grace. But but Randall, he can wander in fifteen minutes late. Nobody will be mad. pH that's good to know. Does that a company? Is that like all through all libraries? No? No, I just I got a affiliate faculty status? At you do they give you like, do you have a little card or something that says what's up? No? I got I got a student ID or not a student ID whatever, the grizz card they

call it. And when I went to get it last week, they said, we have your old picture on file. Do you do you just want to use that one totally different shape my face. It's just it was unrecognizable. I thought, this just won't even work. You know, well, how do you when you check a book out? How do you let him know that you're You're like, there'll be no due date. It's just keyed into the It's just those are my borrowing privileges. There are different categories, different tiers

of borrowing privileges. So I went from just a Montana residence. As a Montana resident, you can go in and get like a borrowing privileges at you am or any at the you know, public universities, and those are like the lowest of the low because it's just anybody with a Montana driver's license. So I just leap from box. Yeah, yeah, I had to. I leap frog to the top tier. I think unless there's some like unknown tier beyond like the provost and the university president, they can just walk

out with rare and collectible books. But yeah, that puts he had a big trivia advantage. Oh, he depends on depends on how much of the reading I'm actually doing. Yeah, you know there's something the uniquely suited to dominating pieces. One more quick question, what's up when you say, who's here. You're not going like you're dealing poker, and you're not going alphabetic. How you making your lips? Yes, I'm usually pulling up the Google invite and seeing who accepted the

invite to come, and then just writing it down that way. Oksey, we haven't heard from you yet. How do you think you're going to do in Meat Eater Trivia, Spencer, I absolutely love love trivia games and I'm here to win. That doesn't mean I'm going to, but I am going to give it my best. Good Steve wanted a wager earlier, but he hasn't told me the terms, so I suppose I was trying to do do a side beat. If that's what we have to do, that's what we have to

do all right now. If you're not familiar, this is a ten round quiz show with questions from meat eaters four verticals which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking, and there is a prize. Meat Eater will donate five hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the winners choosing and each week here on Meat Eater Trivia, we reveal a new stat This week, we're looking at the meat Eator trivia perfect Games. Through forty six episodes, we've had three

shows where someone has gotten all ten questions right. Steve is responsible for one of them, Brody has gotten the other two. That means that six point five percent of episodes end in a perfect game. In those perfect games, the average score of the other players has been we got more. In those perfect games. The average score of the other players was five point seven, So Brody and Steve nearly doubled up the rest of the room. That tells me that they weren't easy rounds. Those boys were

just on their A game. It's great you like it now. In the last few weeks, I've had some listeners reach out saying that I could make my job a lot easier if I just used AI technology you to write the trivia questions. So I tried it. I went to chat GPT and asked the bot to write me ten trivia questions about hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking. This was a complete failure. Here are some of the questions that it suggested. You're not gonna want to play. That's how

bad they are. Take it away, Phil question, what is the main method used to catch fish in freshwater? Answer? Fishing with Rod and real question. What is the term used for the conservation of wildlife? Answer? Wildlife conservation. What is the purpose of salt in baking? Answer salt enhanced his flavor. Question What is the hunting season for wild

turkey in the United States? Answer? Turkey season. So while it's projected that AI technology will replace eighty five million jobs by twenty twenty five, the host of Meat Eater Trivia isn't one of them. Twenty five Yeah, it's coming fast. Eighty five million. Eighty five million. That's scary global, I'm not worried about it. Yeah, Spencer's game. Now. The Shelby Index for this round is a five, So I'm officially putting this on perfect Game Alert. With that, we're onto

the round of trivia. Play the drop fill. Look, I need to know what I stand to win everything? How's that just tend to win everything? Damon suckers. Question one. The topic is conservation and as always, this will be multiple choice. This first great question comes to us via Mitch Morris. If you have a question you think is right for Meat Eater Trivia, you can send it to trivia at the meadeater dot com. What state had the most acres burned by wildfires in twenty twenty two? Was

it Texas, Washington, New Mexico or Alaska? A lot of folks writing answers before I even gave the choices. I think we have a confident room. Again. The question is what state had the most acres burned by wildfires in tw twenty two? Your four choices are Texas, Washington, New Mexico, and Alaska. Steve, did you get this one right? And it's what you thought it was before I gave the choices? The choices didn't change your mind, is what I'm asking. No,

no, no no, no, no no. Um. I don't know what would have happened when I got done thinking about it. When I started thinking about it, I had the wrong answer. Okay, but I would have thought about it longer. Four choices about it? Washington, New Mexico, Alaska. Does everybody have an answer? How you feeling? Randall? Not that confident? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve saying Alaska, Tyler saying Texas, Danielle saying Washington, Hunter sang Texas, Casey saying New Mexico,

Randall saying New Mexico. Jordan saying New Mexico. You have an right We have a right answer in the room. The correct answer is Alaska. Steve with a hot star, yea perfect game. In twenty twenty two, Alaska had three point one million acres of land burned by wildfires. That's followed by New Mexico at eight hundred sixty thousand, Texas at six hundred seventy thousand, Oregon at four hundred sixty thousand, Idaho at four hundred forty thousand, Oklahoma at three hundred

ninety thousand, in California at three hundred ten thousand. Despite Alaska leading the country in wildfire acres last year, they only burned half as much as they did during their record year of two thousand and four. Question to the topic is one of those oh, I didn't know that questions. It's a great question. I didn't want to put California in there. I think the whole room would have said California. So give you other choices. Question to the topic is fishing.

Multiple fishermen were robbed by cartel pirates who drove bass boats on this Rio Grand Reservoir in two thousand and ten. Multiple fishermen were robbed by cartel pirates who drove bass boats on this Rio Grand Reservoir in two thousand and ten. If you didn't pick up on it, this is our Texas question for all of our Texas friends in the room. Daniel, do you think you know this one? I don't know. I've gone man, hang on, prayer. Yeah. Throwing a bone

out like this is depriving me on my perfect game. Casey, you got this one potentially? Okay, Jordan Tyler? I have two and I can't figure out which one it is. You do the other one, and one of us will be robbing. Not real confident in Texans. Again, the question is, multiple fishermen were robbed by cartel pirates who drove bass boats on this Rio Grand Reservoir in two thousand and ten. Does everybody have an answer? Who's coming up with an answer? Jordan?

How long have you lived in Texas? Six years? Do you know any real Grand reservoirs? None are coming to mind. Do you know any cartel pirates? Does everybody have an answer? Steve, You're gonna get this one. No, man, I don't even know. Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have, Steve saying Lake Austin Tyler sang Amistead. Danielle sang Falcon Hunter saying Apache Casey sang Amistead Randall without an answer, Jordan saying Devil's Lake. The correct answer is Falcon Lake. Danielle, You

know how I knew this. Travis used to work in Zapata and around that time, and I remember like he was really close to this lake, and there was like a lot of funny business with the cartel. I didn't know the story about the bass boats, but I knew there was a lot of cartel action on the lake. Piracy briefly became a major problem on Falcon Lake in twenty ten, when a turf war broke out between the

Los Zetas and Golf Cartel. Fishermen were warned not to travel into Mexican waters for a few months until one side one The pirates used fishing boats to smuggle contraband and rob civilians, and in one instance misspelled the words game warden and duct tape on the side of the boat. I think the last e and game warden they put an eye. They still would have got the question right, because you don't care about spelling. A perfect game is over two questions. In question three, the topic is cooking.

This city hosts the World Championship Barbecue Cooking contest and uses pork for the foundation of its barbecue style. This city hosts the World Championship Barbecue Cooking contest and uses pork for the foundation of its barbecue style. Quick answer from Jordan. Quick answer from Steve, Steve, you got this? She raised over m Danielle. Did you know again? This

city hosts the World Championships Barbecue Something Cooking contest. I saw a little something in the way she was moving her pen that makes me think I might be onto something again. Does everybody have an answer? I don't like it? Hunter, good, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve saying Memphis, Tyler saying Memphis. Danielle crossed owt Memphis and wrote Kansas City is beef though right? Hunter says Kansas City, Boston,

Randall says Memphis, and Jordan says Memphis. The room did well. The correct answer is Memphis. You know what I saw? Danielle dos dot an Ias. Memphis is most famous for its pork ribs and pork shoulders. This regional style of barbecue often uses a sauce that's thin and agy The World Championship Barbecue Cooking contest is held there each May and set the Guinness World Record for biggest pork barbecue

competition in nineteen ninety. I'll tell you what kind of barbecue I think is prettydamn good, and I don't know how I didn't know about it? Is the White Sauce Alabama. Dude, like I got it into myou like late forties and not knowing that was a thing. Did you learn about it? Did you learn about it through mediator trivia? No, I learned about it before that. I remember. I've got that one right though. Because of that. Yeah, question question four,

The topic is hunting. This next great question comes to us via Scott Sudcamp. If you have a question you think is right from meat Eator Trivia, you can send it to trivia to meat eater dot com. What is the only subspecies of turkey from the World Slam that can't be hunted in America? What is the only subspecies of turkey from the World Slam that can't be wanted in America? You got a real problem right now, buddy. Okay, tell me, Like I've often said, we need to leave

the room. But you have a real problem right now? Do you want to expanded you on to talk about it afterward? We'll talk about it afterward. But I think you're gonna have to have you need an eleventh question. M I could keep my mouth shut and get the point. Okay, a matter of fact, I will. Does everybody have an answered? I think it's too late for the what is the only subspecies of turkey from the world slam that can't be hunted in America? Have to spell it right? No,

he doesn't care about spelling. It doesn't matter if it's so far off that it might have been a different word. I think I got the first letter right. Okay, is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve saying oscillated, Tyler saying oscillated, Danielle saying osciola hunt it without an answer, Casey saying oscillated, Randall without an answer, Jordan's saying nothing writing anything. This is like the opposite

of slum Dog Millionaires. The movie is like, yeah, I don't know the correct answer is oscillated, Steve, what do you got for me? It's not. It's a completely different species. It not a subspecies, it's a completely different species um. So if if I said species, then you'd be okay with it. Oh yeah, but you okay? This is this is looking at the n WTF and what they say the world slide. I think it has its own name name. Okay, so i'ma check on the Well, we'll addressed it in

Housekeeper on the next episode. You get the point about the other problem with this question, what is America? Because we have North and South America and Central America, so all these I mean the question is the question now different? Yes? I meant that you met a osciola turkey. Oh that's a different that's a different turkey. The six turkeys included in the World Slam Eastern Osceola rio grand Merriam's gould and oscillated. Let me see that again. I meant the one.

Is that the one you're talking about as loosa? I don't think, because it sounds a hell of a lot like osiolsa. But I think you're closer than you are oscillating. But it is that's a hybrid about the Mexican the one in Mexico. Right. Yeah, But what you're right on the board matters a lot. What would happen if an Osceola and the oscillated met in the Caribbean and had a hybrid. Now these birds are famous for their peacock like appearance and metallic feathers that range from electric blue

to burnt orange. Steve, have you killed one yet? Dude? No Emi and Nanni have almost gone. We had a whole we had a whole trip planned. We're supposed to go last year. Like we were lined up, we were going, and then in the end the guy we were going with, uh, we got into doing the sidey stuff and the guy we're going with it gradually emerged that this guy did not have permits, but was kind of being like, no one cares and you cannot really a thing. I mean

like no one's gonna check. Some days we had to bail. Oh, it's gonna happen, buddy. You know, I'm already. I'm already Super Slam Holder. Question five. The topic is wildlife. What two thousand and thirteen award winning documentary focused on Tillicum the orca who killed three people? M hmm? What two thousand and thirteen award winning documentary focused on Tillicum, the orca who killed three people? Steve, did your humunculus help you there, No, I just knew it. Okay, confident folks,

right you do, right now? Already done, just straight out fairly confident room, Casey, you got this one, okay, Hunter m hmm. Tyler's debatable. Danielle, you look like you knew it? Yeah, yeah, maybe okay again topic his Wildlife What twenty thirteen award winning documentary focused on Tillicum, the orca who killed three people. Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead and reveal your answers.

We're Steve saying blackfish, Tyler saying blackfish, Danielle, Danielle saying you willy Hunter without an answer, Casey saying blackfish, Randall saying blackfish killed three. The correct answer a little boy. Only four humans have ever been killed by orcas. Tillacom is responsible for three of those deaths. The first death happened in nineteen ninety one, when Tillacom grabbed a trainer's foot,

pulled her under water, and drowned her. The second death happened in nineteen ninety nine, when a homeless person snuck into Tillacom's pool after hours and was drowned by the whale, and the third death happened in twenty ten during a show when Tillacom grabbed its trainer by the ponytail, scalped her, bit her arm off, swallowed it and drowned her. Did you watch the documentary, Steve Oh? Seems like I might not because I don't know what happened to the uh.

Tillacomb was then put in a different pool at Sea World. Um, and then he died in twenty seventeen. Put him down. They didn't put him down. UM. One of the problems with with situations like this was he died. I had about thirty five, which is the normal life expectancy of orca is in captivity, but in the wild they live up to like a hundred UM, so Tillicum had a rough life fail. We are halfway through the game of trivia. Give us a scoreboard update. I want to watch that

movie now. Check it out. So much action. I used to think there was some nuance in like the orc is being kept in captivity, but after that and after doing some whale watching, it's like, now that's it's just like pretty dang evil. In last place zero points. We have Hunter Spencer. Coming up. Next is Danielle with one point. Then we have Jordan Casey and Randall with two points apiece. Tyler has three points and in first place to Steve

with four. Question six, the topic is anthropology considered the more populous tribe in America? The populist populus considered the most populous tribe in America. These people were forced to relocate to Oklahoma in eighteen thirty eight. Is that a bone not a bone? Consider the most populous tribe in America? These people were forced to relocate to Oklahoma in eighteen thirty eight. A very confident room. We must have populist at first, populist. I thought you said that I don't

understand popular Now populus. Does everybody have an answer? This might be a seven for seven mega in the room, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve saying Cherokee, Tyler saying Cherokee, Danielle saying Comanche, Hunter saying Comanche, Casey saying Cherokee, Randall and Jordan saying Cherokee. They got it

the correct answer. Cherokee's hanging in there. It's estimated there are nearly eight hundred thousand Cherokee peoples in the United States, which is nearly half a million more than the next largest tribe, the Navajo, the Cherokee once inhabited states like North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, in Tennessee, but we're forced to relocate after gold was discovered in part of

their range. Is it? Uh? Maybe I'm wrong about this, but is there like like for membership in some tribes there's a there's a higher threshold of lineage and they have a very relaxed threshold. You could be like a twenty fourth sixteen or something like. Yeah. Question seven, the topic is fishing. This next great question comes to us via Jeremy Creed. If you have a question you think is right for Meat Eator Trivia, you can send it

to trivia the meat eater dot com. What phishing lure brand has caught the most world records according to the IGFA. What phishing lure brand has caught the most world records according to the i g F. A quick answer from Steve Jordan Randall Jordan, you got this one? I don't know. I just named one Randall, just guessing. Okay, Steve, the quickest answer, I think you got this? Uh not? You know, what do you call it? When you know it? You know? I don't know it. But I think I you know,

I'm educated. Guess yeah, that's all I'm trying to say. I'm not educated as much as Randall. Does everybody have an answer, Danielle, one more time? What fishing luver brand has caught the most world records according to the I g f A. Everybody's gonna have the same answer. Then does that help you at all? Danielle, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve and Tyler saying Paula, Hunter sang rattletrap Casey, Randall and Jordan all saying Rapaula.

They got it. The correct answer is Rapaula. Rapaula has caught four hundred eighty nine world record fish from the IGI eight books. That's followed by Maps at ninety nine, Yossouri at ninety, Hellco and Storm at sixty, and homemade lures at fifty nine. The most give me the number one and two again. Number one is Rapaula four eighty eighty nine. That's right, Maps ninety nine, not even ninety, not even close, not even a prayer of getting over taken.

And the weird thing is that I thought of is they're not They're not huge in the saltwater space like with all like big game, offshore, all that, you know what I mean? Kay. The most common lure type used to catch world record fish is a jig, followed by spoons and plastic worms. Question eight. We'll get another scoreboard update from Phil the engineer after this. The tip topic

is cooking. The main version is chilled and dressed with mayo, while the Connecticut version is warm and dunked in butter. What is it? The main version is chilled and dressed with mayo, while the Connecticut version is warm and dunked in butter. Quick answer from Steve and Danielle. Danielle, you got this one right, I bet I'll be oh, just screwed it up. You can still change your answers. The main version is chilled and dressed with mayo, while the

Connecticut version is warm and dunked in butter. What is it? It's the least confident the room has looked yet except for Danielle. I mean, I know, like I kind of I think I know, like what roughly has going on here? When you figure it out, you'll be like, oh, so obvious, Danielle. You don't need to help the guy. And I know I shouldn't. I just want to make him feel real bad. Misses. That's right, Jordan, you have an answer. You're gonna get this one, right. I don't think so. Okay, Yeah, Steve,

I noticed you haven't changed your answer. I think I got it. Okay. I did some waffling, but you're sticking with what you started at. I'm not embarrassed. I'm not embarrassed. It's not like what I had to put up like Austin earlier that was embarrassing. Everybody have an answer, Go ahead and reveal your answer. We have Steve saying lobster, Tyler saying lobster, Poe Boy, Danielle saying lobster, Hunter sang lobster roll, Casey sang smoked oysters, Randall sang lobster roll,

and Jordan saying lobster. The correct answer is lobster roll. I don't think we're gonna give it to you said lobster. That's not true because you don't have to have lobster in a roll to dip it in butter. Most people just dip the lobster, but they wouldn't be made lobster. It's a main lobster roll. It's not Connecticut lobster it's a Connecticut lobster. The role is just a form of eating it. It's not there's not like a bus. It

would be like them. It'd be like if the answer was beef tartar and you just said beef, it's not the same thing if you mete tartar. If I went to a restaurant in Maine and ordered the lobster, would they bring it out with mayonnaise? No, No, you gotta say roll. I don't know to Maine and have lobster dipped in butter. Sure, but if you're going to eat a roll into different places, they would serve it differently. But like the point is, like where how would you

serve type of does my Cajun friends still qualify? Just use the Southern terms. That's it says. You don't give it to him, You could not give it to me, right, it has to be lobster roll. If you just said lobster, it's not good enough. The other key difference between them is the bond. The main version is usually served on a frankfurter role, while the Connecticut version uses a toasted

hot dog bun. Maynards considered declaring the lobster role its official state sandwich in twenty twenty one, but the bill was shot down by the Senate. Phil we have two questions. The scoreboard wasn't worth their time out of the game. Our Hunter and Danielle, who have one point apiece. Thanks for playing, though we got Jordan and KC with four points, Tyler and Randall with five and still in first place. A Steve of six points still have a chance. Two

questions left. Question nine the atomic is woodsmanship. This is our peak Refuel question of the week, which was won by Tina Swartz for sending this great question. Tina is going to get a week's worth of peak refuel meals as well as a book signed by Steve. Eating buck thorn will cause animal yearine to turn this color when exposed to sunlight. Come on, Eating buckthorn will cause animal urine to turn this color when exposed to sunlight. Steve was at a come on like too easy? Got no

idea animal? Any animal? Any animal? Eating buckthorn will cause animal yurine to turn this color when exposed to sunlight. That's a great question. Stumped room feel as if they haven't tried every animal, so got me there it's a chimpanzee. Buckthorn. You know what buckthorn looks like? Steve. Okay, that doesn't help you at all, Dude, I have this isn't even like a thing. My homunculus has never learned this. I've never I've never learned. There's not like I forgot, I'd

never learned. Uh huh. Does everybody have an answer for the color that the year in turns have been exposed to sunlight? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve saying green, Tyler saying blue, Danielle saying green, Hunter saying red, Casey saying green, Randall, what's your answer? Saying orange, Jordan saying green. The correct answer is blue? Ties it up. I had green, and Spencer gave me more hint? What was the hint? So you know what color it is?

So kind of I don't. I changed my answer based on that. I don't know if that was an actual intended hint. Say this again, though, I don't know what you knew what buck thorne was? And then what do you have to do? What is buck thorne? Buck Thorne is shown evasive shrub that's found in thirty seven states, although deer and rabbits don't consider it a choice of food source. They I'll eat it when options are limited. The bark from the tree is what causes urine to

turn blue after about ten minutes of sunlight exposure. Mini woodsmen refer to this as smurf pee and often witness it in the winter in snow helmet. So him and I didn't talk about anything that would have told you the answer. So what what is? I don't know what buck thorne looks like? Buck thorne it's like it's a shrubby thing that has brownies on it. Well, the bark it looks like any other Uh, it's not like a pale color bark. Well, that's why. That's what I was.

That was where I was putting things together. But you said that you thought he said something to me. I told you the answer. I asked you if you knew what buck thorn was, why why would that tell you what color it is? He asked, if you knew what it looked like, and so then you kind of pale. So I just assumed blue would be a good color. Questions if he if he wins, that's a that's an asterisk. As one wild guest. The asterick is Austin, Texas, Gosla. That was a wild guest question. I go down on

a kickoff right now, Steve Man, give us another scoreboard update. Well, we have three players left in the game. Randall has five points and tied with six points, apiece. I don't question. The topic is conservation. This virus, which arrived in America in nineteen ninety nine, is credited with killing millions of birds each year. Are you kidding me? This virus, which arrived in America in nineteen ninety nine is credited with

killing millions of birds each year. A very confident room in a perturbed Steve, I kind of want to talk to you outside for a minute. Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead, and all your answers. We have Steve saying bird flu, Tyler saying avian flu, Danielle saying avian flu, Hunter saying avian flu. Case, and Randall and Jordan saying avian influenza. They all got it wrong. The correct answer is west Nile has since nineteen twenties. That was a

great question. Now, the first case of West Nile was observed in New York City in nineteen ninety nine. Officials believed it arrived here with an infected bird or mosquito, and within five years it had spread across the continent. Game birds are capable of carrying West Nile, but there's no evidence that the virus can be transmitted through eating infected meat. That's a great question. That's what knocked up

rough grouse. Digging the dirt so bad, isn't it. Yeah, yeah, sage grouse, I think really struggled and they found I think there's like a couple hundred birds that can catch West Nile, only about half of them can build up immunity. Great question. We're going to overtime between Tyler and Steve. Play the drop, Phil, but that guy sense at all. First your last, you can be second, you can be third, fourth, hell give fifth the tie breaking question. The topic is

conservation and this is from Brian Duck. The Secretary of the Interior is what number in the line of presidential succession? This is a numerical question. Whoever is closest between Tyler and Steve will be declared the winner. Again, the question is the Secretary of the Interior is what number in line of presidential succession. I'm gonna give you guys a little bit of clarity here. I'd like to walk through my thinking on this. The first person is the vice president.

It doesn't start a president. I'm just telling you number one is vice president. It's not one president. So on, so forth. The wrestling room can come up with answers if you want to play along, But the only ones that matter are Tyler and Steve. This is an exciting finish. Tyler, who's never even played trivia before, walks in here, off the street from Texas, in a different climate. That's is a tough environment for Tyler be playing in Its cold,

it's snow, it's windy. I can't focus. That's right, Steve over here, his eyes are getting watery. So focused. Question man again, the Secretary of the Interior is what number in line of presidential succession? God love the walk through my thinking on this. Go ahead right, write it out and we can talk about it afterwards. Randall as being the the educated fella in the room, this seems like this is most in your wheelhouse. I just want to I want to make it known that at no point

today did I bring up my academic petighouse. This is liken't bring this up. But how do you think you'd fair in this question? Don't give too many hints. But do you think you'd have a good chance. Oh, I've lost all confidence in my abilities today. All right, Jordan, as our Canadian, do you think you never shot at this one? Um? Decent shot? You probably know some American things that most Americans don't even know. Maybe, I mean I had to study. I was just telling the folks earlier.

I just became an American, so I had to study intation, naturalization test. This is not one of the questions. You know more about America than Americans. Haven't studied for that? Um, not a not a high bar. Yeah, it's not a high bar. I studied a little bit, but I knew most of it. It's pretty, It's pretty Tyler. Do you have an answer? Ye? Steve, do you have an answer?

I do, buddy, Okay, go ahead, reveal your answers. We have Hunters saying seven, case one saying six, Randall saying eight, Jordan's saying fourteen, Tyler saying five, and Steve saying four. You want to know the correct answer is eighth, making Tyler, Tyler, well done, very impressive. Say something I don't know. Let

me walk you through what it is. One is vice president two Speaker, the House, three, President of the Senate, four, Secretary of State, five Secretary of Treasury, six Secretary of Defense, seven Attorney General, and eight is the Secretary of the Interior. The list goes all the way to eighteen and in last is the Homeland Security Secretary. Let me tell you a little bit about why, because at that time, the

Secretary of Interior was a big deal. Like you know, when they when they got to the headwaters of the Missouri, they named that they like name one of them knows, the treasurer. I don't know, Gallatson, Gallas the treasurer. Yeah, never mind, that was my thinking. At seven. I had seven, and I raced it as far as secretaries, God what you would have wont even more? Yeah more, Interior beats out agriculture, Commerce, labor, transportation, energy, education, veterans Affairs, and

Homeland Security. Tyler, well done. What happens next is you get to choose where Randal got it dead nuts Rand Rand. That is, I could go, I could go to number six. You could. It was close, really, and like you had all six in the correct order as well. So when you're secretary, you're not getting like terribly cocky, You're not like baby things go right. If all seven of them were in one place at one time, it's gotta go way wrong before it goes Baby, I'm just one nuclear

explosion away from running this place. They always say it with the Vice President that you're like one harp eat away Secretary of the Interior, though one of apocalypse away run this whole show, Tyler, So what are you going to choose for the five hundred dollars donation to a conservation organization? I did, uh some volunteer work for Ducks Unlimited for a while, and so I actually ran a chapter in my hometown. So I think that's great. I'd like to do that, like it what was the what

was the hometown chapter? Emory? And it's still around? Uh No, it's not. Actually, So you're going national, you're going local. Um, you can pick either one, Okay. Oh, I would like to go to the Sulfur Springs Ducks Unlimited chapter. That's where we'll send our five hundred dollars. Then, well done. Some pressings we've witnessed, Tyler. Dustin Huff also came in here, had never played before. Beat the Room, Uh, Tyler, similar feat. Good game makes you wonder what kind of talents out there,

some strong players all the way down in Texas. Whod the thought? Join us next time for more Meat Eater Trivia, the only game show where conservation always wins.
