Terms and conditions apply. LinkedIn, the place to be. To be. Hello everybody and welcome back to another episode of the matcha diaries with your favorite favorite hosts. Cara and leo. We have a very usual normal episode. We don't have we don't have video today, which actually feels a bit weird. I don't know if you feel it. I think I'm so used
to now recording video episodes. But nobody's gonna see my face. Maybe for the better because I enjoyed it at the minute and I got the time difference off and I thought I had an extra hour of sleep, but I did not. So I've woken up and leo was like excited to record it. I was like, oh shit. So I'm literally still in my pajamas. Me too. This is a cute cozy morning record episode. I'm actually really excited that we're not doing video. I'm not gonna lie. I just want to be
fully focused on just what we're gonna talk about. And I'm now proud of myself actually because it was perfect timing because it was a bit worried because I was like, well, I've got Pilates, which was again very ambitious of me at like 840. Oh, okay. Leo's left the meeting. Why did that happen? Oh my god. What is that? My time limit on my Google meets app was over. So okay. Oh, yeah. Okay. It's fine. I'm back. I did it for never again. This is why time limits are
bad idea. I do not work, but I still have them on almost every app and I every morning have to be like, not today, not today. I love how you have a time limit on Google. I have it on every thing. No, but that's so funny. It's like imagine being on like the call and then it just hung up and you're like, yep, that's my life. It's time for me to go. I'm done speaking with you. Well, normally it's like it's start, it stops at 9 a.m. But it's not yet 9 a.m. here.
But at last, anyways, what are we saying? You're too good. Okay. I have platys in the morning. So I was, we were discussing yesterday, but like, oh my god, we want to do a morning record. And then I was like, oh, but it's fine. I can record before, which I thought was going to be very hard to record at like, I don't know, 730. But then Marco went on his many business trip to Brussels, which he does most months. And he had to get up at like six o'clock. So I got up now kind of with
him at like six 30. So actually, I know that pubbing like a full hour. Oh, that's perfect. Oh, that's perfect. Read my copy. Drink my coffee. Read my coffee. Drink my back. It's great. It's great. See, that's what I, that's what I was planning to have. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. No, no. It's, it's my fault. I got it wrong. So fair enough. And this one, this actually means I'll have an hour after we're done. That's good. Perfect.
And you'll be in such a reading cause of the music. A week fun happy music. Exactly. Yeah. I think speaking of fun happy mood, I'm going to light my candle. The time has come. This is the candle that I spoke about, I think in a previous episode. If you didn't listen, you won't get it. But um, basically, it's a candle that I got as a leaving gift from my previous job. And I've been saving it for now genuinely over a year because I like
thought it was too special. But now there's no more special moment than lighting this candle with all of us on this episode. I feel so honored. And that you're choosing the candle here. The candle is obviously called biblioteque. So like library. And yeah. Oh perfect. Exactly. Perfect for this TBR episode. Okay. Can you hear the lighter? Unfortunately, it's not a match. That would have been a much better sound. Oh, I love the sound of a match. Let's see. I hope the candle
is not just of a match. Of a match like me too. And also the smell. Also, I want to give credit to Leo in this episode because she's done all the prep. So I just want to put that out there. I've done no prep for this. But I also was saying this to Cara that this was completely selfish and self-motivated. I wanted to do this TBR for myself. I had a lot of fun researching this. Yay. I'm glad you did.
I'm excited to hear all of the ones. And hopefully I've read a few. I think you've read quite a few of like the because basically obviously this episode as the title will have already spoiled it for you. Spoiler alert. They wear this episode is going to be our autumn reading list or autumn TBR. I still think TBR is actually kind of a weird phrase because it's like to be read. You know, it actually doesn't
mean that. I know. No one actually says it. But it's fine. Yeah. We move past it. So this is our reading list. Shouldn't it just be TBR like TBR or like WTR want to read. What? What to read? Yeah. I don't know. Yeah. Someone gave us an explanation. But um oh yeah. I was like what did I want to say? Oh yeah. We've structured this TBR reading list with every one of Cola in two parts. One of them is books that we've read. And we can highly 100 recommend from the bottom of our hearts.
I also actually want to have two mentions of popular autumn books that I do not want to recommend. Not only this, but just as a side note. And then a list of books that we haven't read. But we've just done research and we're adding into our tea. You're so cute. We are. We know what you said. No, no. You were in my mind. I didn't see it. I'm not getting it right. And heart. I'm not conducting this. Okay. I have a question. Your one. What classifies a book as an
autumn all read? Okay. So in my mind, it's either about the themes of the book. Like whether it's something supernatural like witchy or centered around like Halloween or also about the genre. Like I think anything dark academia, thriller, mystery, cozy romance. Maybe even like historical fiction could be classified as like you know a cozy read or like fitting to the season. That's how yeah. That's how I see it. Like I think it's about also like the mood, right?
Like I feel like when we envision each of we all have like a picture of like a specific mood that we have in mind. Like for me, it's like the almost like a color scheme, right? Of like the current oranges. Yeah. Dark reds and maybe like everything is a little bit darker and moodier and candlelight. And I feel like this is what I want to envision when I'm reading the books. I even think fantasy is kind of what I'm not. Okay. I was going to say that because I'm
reading. Okay. I know we were going to talk about what we're reading in a minute. But I'm reading what I'm showing, but I forgot we don't have a video. A court of misanthiria, which I know I've been reading. I've been reading these books for taking me ages to get through. They are quite chunky. Yeah. That's fair. But this for me, I would recommend this as an optional read as well. Because the romance and the tension is so nice. And the way they describe like the different
courts in the world. It's very like imaginative. You feel like you're there. It's not all some, like there's a summer court, but it's not all that as well. You know, there's the winter, the winter vibes. So I would recommend this as an automore. Yeah. Okay. What's your, what's your avatar reading update feelings so far? Okay. I will, I do need to say I've managed to convince almost every girl in my office to read the series. I panic. So this is going to become
a modern class. We're like everyone's ready in our age group. And I'm so nervous. And we're genuinely, we all come into, we all come into the office and we just like give updates. Oh my god. Where we are. So Poppy, who sits next to me and is in my team, she's, she's now finished the third book. She's obsessed with it. And she's never read fantasy before. So she, this is her like first fantasy read. And she's like, now I think I can get into it. So cute. She needs to listen to this,
to our podcast or our fantasy. I know. Yes. I think she, no, she doesn't listen. Well, that round. I'm half, well, almost done with the second book. And then the rest are still on the first book. So we're still, we're all at different stages. So it's quite hard because we none of us want to give spoilers and stuff. But yeah, the gist of it is everyone's liking it. Slash loving it. No, I'm enjoying this book so much more than the first one.
The, the, the tension. I like it. You know, I realize I like it because it's not that smutty. Oh, I know we've had this debate before. But I think that's why I'm enjoying this book because it literally is all like just tension. Yeah. And the tension, tension is so good. It's so good. And it's so subtle as well as not cringe at all. Like there's a few things that are cringy, I think. But in general, it's not too cringy. And the storyline isn't like interrupted every five
seconds by the romance. Yeah. So I'm like, this is, this is, if you were to ask me what's my perfect level of like, attention in a book, it would be this. Oh my god. Okay, high praise. But like my brain is like kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss. The whole time I'm reading it, I'm like, I want to do it. This isn't just like the human dilemma in a nutshell. You just want something that you can't have.
Okay, so I on the reverse started with one of the books on my autumn TBR. And I'm glad I have because I now don't have to include it in our autumn TBR because it indeed was kind of bad. I wouldn't say it was horrible. Like truly devious was worse. But that's not that hard. So the book is called A Witch's Guide to Fakedating Demon by Sarah Holy, which the title line should have the title line that the title alone should have probably been
an indication that this was going to be a silly read. But you know what? In like the witchy genre, like the XX maybe not the most intelligent title, but such a cute book. So I was like, you know what, I'm going to give this a chance. The description sounded cute like enemies to lovers, a witch accidentally. She lives in this like magical small town. And as a very complicated relationship with her parents, she accidentally summons a demon when she gets a spell wrong.
And then this demon is kind of contracted to like swap her soul for a bargain. But they end up falling in love. So that's kind of the gist of it. And then obviously them having to deal with like, oh my god, but I need to like give you my soul and like blah blah blah blah. And so funny. But it ended up being so randomly smutty. Like no, they mentioned because the demon had horns. So they also kept making like the joke of like, oh, it's horny demon. No, no. It was so and even like the parents
would make like weird like sexual references and stuff. And like literally in one of the first pages, she was googling like demon decks and like the size of them and like demon porn was coming up. And I was like, oh no, like this is not what I wanted. What is the age range of the soul? I have no idea. But then I was reading the acknowledgments and the author like used to write nothing against fan fiction. But she used to write like, I think a Star Wars fan fiction. So I guess it came from
which I didn't know going into the book. I think like, so it's very hard. So it's very hard. I've been recommended to me. Yeah, you need to trace back who's recommended. That's what I think it was like on TikTok or something. Okay, which you know what? I didn't hate this book. But I also wouldn't recommend it. Is this the one that you said it's the dumbest book? It's just I was reading it. I was giggling because I was like, this is so silly. This is so silly.
You're being so silly. So yeah, I'm kind of I'm happy to move on from it. And I think actually it's primed me perfectly for a book club book because our book club book is Love in the Time of Coloura by Gabrielle Garcia and Marquez. I'm definitely have pronounced his name completely wrong. But you started it? This book. No, but I'm going to read it next. Yeah. And this book won a Nobel Prize. So maybe you need something. This one is going to be a lot better.
You need it for like quick and kind of weird and funny. Exactly. I needed the low brow to move on to the high brow. Exactly. And then I can go back to like I know exactly what book I'm going to read after it. Oh my god. Okay. Cute. Okay, do you want to start seeing the books that you've read? Yes. So the first one I've got on here is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. This is obviously like a bit more of a classic, but it is actually a Gothic novel. And it's all about kind of like
an orphan who comes to this man or me saying I'm not going to give descriptions anyways. It's a love story. And I think I really enjoyed reading this. Obviously it's probably a bit of a slower read than like a modern love story, but I really enjoyed it. And I think it has very like cozy feels. Cute. And it's not like scary or anything. Second, Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Fairies by Heather Forcer. Obviously not going to give enough. This is a cozy fantasy. I would
describe it. Yeah. Very whimsical. And I've described it in previous episodes. So go listen to those. But it's amazing. Then the XXI would recommend the whole series by Aaron Starling. There's two out so far. And both of them kind of follow different witches in the same family in this like cozy small town. And then like enemies to lovers vibes with witches from whales. Like this male witch family. Oh my god. I didn't realize it was so serious. Yes. I thought it was actually
a third one coming out. But it's coming out like it's going to be a Christmas book. So I'm essentially sad because I would have loved to read another witchy book around this time. But I'm also very excited about reading it for Christmas. So yeah. It's going to help us with our Christmas TBR. But I can I really can so recommend this like this is this is lighthearted, but like it makes you feel so giddy and it's got a little bit of spice but like not too much like it's it's really
cute and they run like a magical store and it's just so good. So she accidentally curses her ex boyfriend. Yes. Love it. Then next one before the coffee gets cold. This was a book love book. Cars also read this. And yeah. I just think this is like one of the coziest magical realism books ever and like speak so deeply about human connection and the power of love and just emotions in general. And I think this is such a perfect and actually kind of quick read the books. There's
four in the series so far and they're all very very short books. Yeah. I think I want to reread that book because I wasn't obsessed with it when I first started. But I'm thinking back to it and I feel like I needed like I do think it is a is a good read. I think I was just not in the right mood to read it. I think you have to get through like the names of it all because obviously the names can be quite like confusing I think at first. Yeah. In terms of like getting getting the hang of
like who every character is and everything. But I think there is like a handy dandy little tree that explains it worth the book. Yeah. Yeah. Not tree. You know what I mean like an explanation of like who everyone is and that's I think really helpful. But I can very recognize that's yeah. By Toshi Katsu Kawaguchi I definitely but sure that pronunciation. The fifth book is we were saying this is our favorite book right? Yeah. And we've heard the secret history by Donald Tarte. The one
and only. I really want to reread that as well. Oh my god. I want to reread at some point. Yeah maybe not. Academia. College. Yeah. It's a dark academic novel about a group of elite college students who become involved in murder. Exploring themes of morality, guilt and the human sight. Then the next one was also a book club read that was around this time last year. Yeah. Babel by RF Kuang also. Honestly I think on one of the list of like top five books I've ever read. Same.
And this is also it's it's described as like an epic fantasy novel set in alternate box for it. But I also feel like this is very dark academia vibes and it's all about linguistic, magic and a lot of ethical dilemmas that are explored around like colonialism. Yeah. Translation, you know the weather violence has ever justified. We spoke about this book. It's so good. A length in other episodes but it's incredible. It's chunky but worth it. Yeah what I would say for
the secret history and Babel is it's a longer read. So if you want to read more like cute spooky books then that's probably an altivive because these like they took quite a while for us to get through at least for me. Yeah. So but definitely perfect for this season. Yeah this TBR is like a mix of all of it. So whether or not. Yeah I'm not sure because now the next recommendation is like the shortest book you will ever read which is Witches of Brooklyn by Sophie Esca Basse.
I this is a graphic novel about a young girl who moves in with her aunts who turn out to potentially be a little bit magical and maybe she is also a magical human being. There's always a magical aunt and like love magical aunts. I've already again mentioned this like on our Instagram plenty of times but it's just this is so sweet and I read this within I think under two hours. Yeah I love that. If you're just craving like even maybe just like almost like a palette cleanser in between books
that I think this would be perfect with your coffee on a Sunday morning. Oh. I want to set for you guys. Thank you. Next one Murder at the Bookstore by Sue Minix. This is like a cozy mystery series set in like a small town bookstore and it's like an amateur detective story. I don't think this was the most incredibly written and I don't know if I'm going to be reading like the rest of the series but I do think like the vibes that the series set were really really cozy and it's like obviously
like a mystery which I think is again a perfect for this season. So take take this one with like a little bit of a pinch of salt but if you're craving like a bit of a lighter yeah mystery in a cozy setting I think this is great. Next The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston. This is about like a ghost writer who then encounters a ghost so I think this is very very seasonal. Oh my career appropriate. Cute and it's the same author as the one that wrote the seven year slip. So yes Ashley Poston.
She's also got a new book out which I've got on the shelf a novel love story which I'm very very excited to read. I think she's I love her writing. I love her romance stories. Next I included a good girl's guide to murder. This is a series which actually is on Netflix now as well I need to watch it. But this is like a YA thriller series about like a high school student doing a murder investigation into a former student's death and there's also a smidge of romance involved. I think
the first one was incredible. Like I the third one it kind of went off the deep end like it went so rogue but in general I think the vibes are really good in this series. Like I really enjoyed I really enjoyed the reading experience. Cute. Next if we were villains by ML Rio. Yeah. This is also in line with like the dark academia vibe. So it's kind of described as like a dark atmospheric tale set in autumn at an elite's art college where seven Shakespearean actors become entangled
in rivalry and betrayal. And yeah, safe to say that things go a little bit to shit. And there's a lot of Shakespeare lines within the book which I feel like it's a little bit it's almost like with Babel and the Secret History where they you know mentioned like old Greek or you know all of the footnotes and how these linguistic elements actually kind of enjoy when it's like you don't quite get all of it but you're learning whilst you're reading and it makes you I think it adds to the vibe
of like oh these are like you know I'm in an academia setting. Yeah. Yeah. Whilst reading. I have bought that book like I've had it on my shelf for a year but I haven't read it yet. So oh my god well perfect. I know I'm excited but I remember you saying you didn't enjoy like you enjoyed it but not as much as Babel and the Secret History. Yeah so those are top tier. Yeah this is second tier but still really good. I think I rated it like four stars or something like
still good. Yeah. Next I've again I'm gonna brush on these only very lightly fourth wing. I feel like everyone knows of. Like Becca Yarras. Yeah because we were talking about fantasy I was like oh my god well this is actually because it's like set of the I don't obviously like a dragon rider war college like this is also perfect for autumn I think. Yeah and then lastly the inheritance games. I think her name is Jennifer Lynn Barnes the author. This is also a very quick read a very quick
series. I think it's also YA but it's just I think it's super fun to read. There's a lot of like mysteries and riddles involved and also like obviously in an inheritance there's some romance. There's like an old man or house involved. Cute. Key ingredients and how many books are in the series? Three. Three plus like almost like a spin-off or a prequel. No but I haven't read that and I don't think I will love it. Okay ones that I don't recommend. Oh yeah I got to the ones
that I don't recommend. Okay I think this might be one of my most controversial opinions. In the book talk, book in books to Graham World. So fine. I think I know which one it is. Which one? Is it the pumpkin? The cafe pumpkin one? Yeah. Okay yeah I was gonna I needed to check what it's exactly called. I read this last year the pumpkin spice cafe. I was close enough pumpkin cafe. I'm Laurie Gilmore. I mean the name. Yeah you thought I feel like the name made you because obviously Gilmore girls
you were like yeah I'm gonna be obsessed with this. Obviously it's just a name. The cover art when you look this like it looks like the coziest cutest book and she just brought out a new one called the Cinnamon Bun bookstore. Like it sounds so cute and I was actually in the bookstore this week being like should I pick the Cinnamon Bun bookstore up but then I just remembered reading the pumpkin spice cafe last year and so many people have like love it but I just fell so flat for me.
I felt like it was like so full of cliches and it was like trying so hard to be like cute and cozy but all I could see was just like these common tropes like you know regurgitated like just because you say something smells of cinnamon. It doesn't mean that I'm gonna feel like it's the air smelling of cinnamon. Do you know what I mean? Like there's more to like a cozy atmospheric book than just you using all the tropes of a cozy atmospheric setting. Yeah no I got what you mean that's how I
felt. It's almost like too too cliché. Yeah fair. I really wanted this to be good but do you think maybe the cover like because the cover was so cute and stuff do you think your expectations were too high? My expectations were very high. Yeah but yeah I don't know but also you know more power to you if you enjoyed this. I'm jealous. So what are the reviews like I could do most people like it? All I see on Instagram is that like people love it yeah. So okay I don't know.
Okay obviously it's like the I think a very classic book to like add to your autumn TBR so please do and then we can discuss. I'm very happy to have. So funny. Okay I might not read it. Well or you read it and let me know what you think. It wasn't bad again. Yeah it was just it just fell flat for me. Well I just didn't full enough with any of the characters or their love story. You know it was just like that. It's over. Next one. It felt like you know what it felt like it felt
like a whole Mark movie. Like you know I'm not gonna cry over any of them kind of cute but like you know yeah. Wait I actually love that yeah I love that you've compared it to a whole Mark movie. Because then it's like yeah you still you still like want to you still like enjoy the experience but you don't leave it being like yeah and you almost like laugh at how bad it is you're like it's so cliche it's so yeah but you still would watch it slash read it okay I just realized that we only
have like 10 more minutes yeah yeah yeah yeah okay also I've had so many audio issues some very sorry or you know okay one more actually that I've now read and it was on my TBR list it but I can so highly recommend this the very secret society of irregular witches by sangu mandana this was such
a feel good which she novel about there's like found family and friendship I think is one of the key themes a magical house kind of is involved like witchy children there's a love story there's also like it also explores identity a lot and I feel like that's so common and like this is so I mean just like witch books in general it always centers around like family and like acceptance but then there's also like love and then there's also them figuring themselves out like obviously people don't
like witches well we do but you know what I mean um but yeah then they have to like learn how to be accepted you know or like to accept themselves in a world doesn't accept them and love them so it's actually quite deep you know it is and this one also I think I really liked how she because she's
I think she the witch is from India originally I feel like the author's probably Indian as well so she also deals with like it's like ethnicity and also like you know there's lots of descriptions about like people of color and how you also like almost like in a world where you're
already not accepted how do you then also do like you know not seeing role models that are like you and kind of you know having like strong for example like black witch role models and all this so I think it's really beautifully explored and I think this was a very very good read I really really really enjoyed it and um can highly recommend cute okay she'll be quickly stormed through books we want to read yeah do you want to read these yeah okay so the first one of this is you again which
the cover is beautiful for this book like I think that's one of the reasons why I want to read it as well um there is magic lessons by Alice Hoffman who's the author of practical magic which so it's a prequel to practical practical magic and if you haven't seen that movie go watch it you can read the book as well but go watch the movie immediately it's our favorite it's well it's likely you're not my
favorite season on movie to watch together um there is the very did you mention this no yeah you just did okay there's cackel by Rachel Harrison which is a feminist horror comedy um there's the girl and why I'm excited to read this I think I'm gonna read this as third up okay cute okay it's a
feminist horror comedy about a woman who moves to a queen to town after breakup and the friends are mysterious possibly magical woman who may be more dangerous than she's seeing so set in New York City oh I've like read the description of this book and I read like in a page into it and it the vibes sound great cute and it's often it's described as like a horror book for all of the reviews I saw with that it's more like a cozy feel and not you know it doesn't like maybe it gives
you like some goose bumps but it's not like horror yeah so I'm excited cute there's the girl in white by Lindsey Curry which is a spooky middle grade mystery about a girl who encovers chilling secrets in a small town haunted by a local legend there's Frankenstein on our list by Mary Shelley which
is a Gothic classic that tells a story of Victor Frankenstein a scientist who creates a sentient creature raising themes of ambition morality and humanity's relationship with creation love Frankenstein and this is amazing in the background there's also we've also put Angelina Frankenstein makes her
match by Sally Thorn which is a romantic twist on the Frankenstein story but it focuses on the female characters journey to finding loves in a world filled with monsters oh I really want to read that yeah me too well that rather than Frankenstein the original yeah how about is that
yeah no literally this one sounds so cute it's called legends and lattes by Travis Baldry which was recommended by one of the listeners right oh and Lee oh yes the book is so cute okay I can I can say you need to say that yeah perfect go for it so yesterday I was it yesterday no day before
yesterday I was still feeling sick like I got a bit sick over the weekend plus I had my period plus I had to get my blood drawn in the morning it was really the terrific threes terrible threes whatever and Marco was very sweet he ended up like driving me to my doctor's
appointment like to get my blood drawn and waited outside like the whole appointment even though I was like I had to wait for like 45 minutes I found out he's very he doesn't like seeing blood or like being in hospital really yeah so yeah he was waiting outside for me and then afterwards he
was like oh what are you doing like again because I think he's so scared of it he was like wow you're so brave and then he we were we're kind of driving home I say driving because we were like cycling we were cycling home I was on the back of his bicycle and we were still a passenger
princess bookshop or still a passenger princess and I was like oh my god I've not been to this bookshop before and it's like really close to our house and we were like okay and he was like do you want to go in and then we went in and then we were just in the bookstore and then without
warning he's like because I've sent him so many times like these TikToks of like boyfriends being like you have one you have 30 minutes to pick out all the books you want or whatever and I'm always like making hints like this is what I want for my birthday and then we're suddenly just like
in front of a shelf and he was like okay you have 10 minutes to pick out two books stop he's so cute for you you know what it's even a it's a it's a good compliment that he's like actually watch the TikToks and videos that you've sent him so I know I'm very proud I'm still such a cute thing for him
to like actually I couldn't believe it I think this is like one of our my top five moments in our whole relationship I was like wow you get me you know this would make me so happy I was this honestly like oh it was the best feeling so I picked out two books one of which is legends and
lattes by Travis Goldry and I saw the Dutch version of it which was so cute unfortunately again it was Dutch but it was like a special edition I had like it was like you know the pages were like spray painted black and there was like cute little latte cup and swords and stuff it was so
adorable anyways I've just got the quote unquote boring paperback but and then I also got a big fat fantasy book a day of full-on-night by Samantha Shannon I'm a bit concerned because I think this is like actually also a prequel and maybe I should have started with the first where's
the prequel but I just look so stunning oh wow oh she's she's chunky you love a fat book I do love a fat book if she's good you know then it just means I have longer to read her so okay should I say should I go through a few more yes two more minutes okay I'm gonna quickly say what
legends and lattes is about so it's a cozy low stakes fantasy about an orc who retires from adventuring to open a cafe focusing on friendship community and new beginnings so cute so so cozy so demure there is the priority of the orange tree by Samantha Shannon which is a found
see this is the that's the first of this series okay that I yeah it's and it's supposed to be really good feminist fantasy with dragons politics and warring kingdom centering on a queen and her defenders as they face an ancient evil there's also when the moon hatch oh I've seen this book
by Sarah A Parker which is a fantasy adventure about a young girl who finds herself entangled in a magical world when a mysterious moon creature hatches leading her on an expected journey there is unexpected I thought it's an expected journey it's expected she knows what's coming
I'm not unexpected there's the I'm trying to read quick girl there's this fell shop by Sarah Beth there's which is in like scary tree now a whimsical fantasy about a young girl who works in a spell shop filled with magical adventures humor and a coming of each story I love a coming of each
story me too okay there's the which is guide I really want to read this the cover of it is also so beautiful this I will not be reading on my Kindle the spell shop yeah cute there's a which is guide to fake dating no which Leo does not recommend I spoke about it there's the ABC murders by
Agatha Christie Agatha Christie is a perfect autonol read like all her books um can you believe I haven't read a single one I think that's a tragedy that's like it doesn't read but the one author that he reads is Agatha Christie he's obsessed I need to I need to read her especially before we do
like our our Catholic Christie episode which we do want to do yeah maybe Ed should join that episode because he's usually obsessed with it um oh my god okay there we have persuasion by Jane Austin which is a timeless romance about second chances we have a poem of every day of autumn
struggle to read that which is edited by Ali a Siri so I actually bought this so I've been reading it every day it's just really cute it's very aesthetic yeah it looked so and I kind of like the idea there's always like a poem for morning and evening I've been kind of reading them
together like in the morning I haven't really been sticking out of this I don't know like how incredible the poems are but I just like the concept of it I think it's quite cute like every day you get like something different to think about and and they're obviously all like themed around
things that either like happen on those day in history or like for example obviously 9-11 which was like as in the 11th of September which was very recently there was like there was a poem about you know what happened on that day and like similar things like that or sometimes also it's just
about you know poets describing the season yeah also I have to get ready but Kar are you can continue me you can get ready um we also have okay I'm gonna say goodbye now but I'll still be able to listen the candle is off okay I might just finish this the candle is off I'm going
to stop my recording now okay I will continue and I will say bye by myself goodbye guys I've got to go to Plati he's very important you know it's my fault I was late with this okay let me finish I'll finish the rest on the list and then I can end it okay right so we also have the name of the
wind by Patrick Rothfuss how the howdy say his last name um which is uh the first book in the King Killer Chronicle the epic fantasy follows the life of oh my god these names Kvoth a legendary figure as he recounts his adventures from a troubled childhood to his rise as a hero also I feel
so sneaky that like I can still hear Leo and you guys can't hear her anymore um so funny yeah she's a secret commentator maybe you can hear her in my headphones I don't know um okay we also have the book Wonders by Anna James which is a middle grade fantasy about a girl
who discovers she can travel into the pages of books embarking on magical adventures alongside classic literary characters so cute the house witch series by Emily Mikoto which is a cozy fantasy series about a witch who uses her magical talents to create delicious food and hearth hearth
is it hearth I don't know spells with a blend of humor magic and everyday life I feel like this is perfect for Leo um because she is you know in the food industry you know you feel me okay there's the honey witch by Sydney Shields which is a magical fantasy about a witch
who specializes in honey and bees leaving spells that affect both her environment and her personal relationships interesting I know what what is oh okay Leo just said isn't it so funny that so many books have been written about witches and I said my response is I'm sorry I'm sorry my
responses I know isn't that so weird that's my day box I return about witches um where it's like we have an obsession with them which is very enough I guess because it's actually so like the concept of witches in society and stuff um
and actually like the hardships that they that the witches um quote unquote have experienced or like just had the way we there's so much to share about it even in the past so fair enough we just want Leo says we just want to be magical okay the next one on the list is a spoonful
of murder by J.M. Hall which is a cozy I like it if you all start a cozy fantasy a cozy mystery it's a cozy mystery about a group of retired school teachers who investigate a murder in their small community full of charm and light suspense why does that make me that's so cute it's like
retired teachers trying to investigate a murder oh was a Leo stop talking because I was wanting to you um she said it was a book club uh it was one of the ones on the book club poll uh okay we also have garlic and the vampire by Bri Paulson which is a graphic novel about a shy
garlic bulb who must confront her fears and the local vampire blending humor adventure and themes of paper I'm so confused what is a garlic bulb is the whole book about a garlic like a okay I'm she's told me to go oh my god it's literally about garlic

sad and saying all confront the vampire okay love it I love that okay I'm I'm kind of shocked by that I'd like I'm still processing but there's a book about garlic but fair okay and then there's fangs by Sarah Anderson which is a witty romantic graphic novel about the relationship between a vampire
and a werewolf filled with humor and heartwarming moments and then the last one with a description so it's gonna be the last one I'm gonna read is songlight by Moira Bufini Bufini which is a songlight it's a novel about people with telepathic skills in a bleed post apocalyptic world
reminiscent of archaic civilizations who are persecuted and dehumanized by their communities so this book actually just came out and Leo was in a bookshop when she was a mom then she picked it up so she's she's still yet to read it but she'll let she'll let us know her thoughts
when she's back on the mic and she reads it this tobian books are so automino don't you think go you guys think like even twilight you know you get it you feel me okay Leo's now peeing and meeting herself so that's good to know but anyways okay those are the
ones that I've seen on the list if you guys have any more recommendations that is now sorry for the chaotic chaotic nature of this episode don't know what's happened to us we're just in silly goofy moods this morning but I mean I'm I'm so glad Leo's worked on this list because now I
have it all in one place and what we can do is actually like share this in written form with you guys so that you have it somewhere that you can always refer back to but yeah let us know if you want us to add any more books to the list if you have any recommendations and we can you know make the list longer because there's there's never enough books is there but anyways that is all that I have for you guys and Leo has for you guys and I'm gonna now finish
