Has anyone ever heard someone say, oh my god. The trauma made me stronger. Who's ever heard this before? Okay? Bullshit. No. The trauma did not make you stronger. What made you stronger is how you responded to the trauma. That is what made you stronger. We do this trauma worship where it's like, Oh my God. I'm so grateful for my trauma. No, honey. No. What made you stronger was your response to the trauma, how you handled it, your capacity, your ability, your strength, your resilience,
your ability to make something happen. That is what made you stronger, not the trauma. The trauma hurt you. How you responded to it made you stronger. Who follows? Does it make sense? K. So we'll put the emphasis on you, not the trauma. Okay? Also, it helps us integrate the experience into your life in a way that empowers you and benefits other people. So it's not just about you. It'll be about others also. And
we don't wanna justify or romanticize trauma. No. It recognizes that strength and resilience comes in the wake of difficult experiences from within you, okay, and is associated with post traumatic growth. Okay? Who falls? This makes sense at least at a at a high level. K. I'm talking about a lot of stuff quick. Okay? So now it's like, okay, Masten. Cool. But how do I align with my purpose? Okay? How do I define my purpose? Okay? So the answer is we have to define it, then we align with
it. If we don't know what it is, then how can we possibly align with it? Okay. Cool, man. That's great. But how? We're gonna map out, and I think this will make things, like, super simple to understand. So we call it GMaps in c. Okay? So we wanna have a goal, a motivation, a certain area of life, which I'll define here in a second. We wanna measure progress, not, how far you have left, but, well, backwards to measure progress. We wanna understand what season you're
in. Okay? And we need a community. If you have your GMaps in c, you have everything you need. Okay? So let's break this down a little bit more. Okay? Now in terms of a goal, okay, well, what does that mean? Okay. We want SMART goals. So we know we understand SMART. We need to be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time bound. So sometimes with purpose, people like the purpose of my life is some big esoteric thing. I don't know what to
do. So we need it to be specific. Now depending on how far out you have the capacity to imagine, the goal could be today, this week, next month, next year, right, in the over the decade or a lifetime, right, depending on where you are. For some people, the goal is I wanna be able to survive the day. For other people, it is I wanna be able to be a good father of other. The other people, the goal is I wanna be able to make x dollars per month.
So we make sure they have a specific goal that we're working towards. Now the goal gives us directionality. Okay? But goal setting and $5 buys you a cappuccino. Okay? We need a little bit more. Okay? So what we really need is also a motivation. And I think that with motivation, this is what people kind of think of as purpose, but purpose is a combination of all these things. Okay? So your motivation, what's your why? So the common things that we see are to prove the naysayers
wrong. Anybody got some people in your life that don't think you can do it, that it feels so good to prove them wrong? If that motivates you, I say celebrate it. Celebrate what motivates you. Okay? It might be to prove your supporters right. So the people who believe in you to be like, you know what? I wanna prove them right. Right? It might be take care of your loved ones or your family. Right? That might be your compelling reason. Right? You
could have a higher mission or a calling. Right? Something larger than yourself. Or it could be become a cycle breaker or what's called a transitional character, which is the first person in your lineage to do something or something else. Okay? But just on the top of your head, let me know, what do you think is motivating you right now? Is it to prove that they sayer is wrong? Is it to prove the supporters right? Is it to take care of your family
or loved ones? Is it for a higher mission or calling? Is it to become a transitional character? Maybe it's something else. This is these aren't the only motivations. These are common motivations. But what's motivating you? Okay? By the way, notice the answer is not baseline survival. Okay? Then that that's that's not our motivations here. Okay? We wanna bring it to mind. So you think about the goal, and then we think about, okay, what's my motivation?
Okay. Financial dependence. But so financial dependence is the goal, but what's the why behind it? So so so to show possibly for my kids. Okay. Perfect. So pause for a second. Let's just say you have a goal of $10,000 a month, and you your your motivation is to show possibility for your children. Pause for a second. I love that. Let's just use
that as an example. Okay? Think about this. Your goal is $10,000 a month or $20,000 a month in business, and the motivation, what you remember to keep top of mind is I need to show my kids what's possible, who follows. Does it make sense? Now where does breath work belong in that? Where does psychedelics belong in that? Where does meditation or somatic experiencing or NLP or modality belong in that? Who here can see that if you have a clear goal and a motivation, that the nervous system
regulation tools can be used completely differently? In fact, you're not instead instead of regulating, life without an aim, you're regulating with a purpose towards something who follows. Does this make sense? The analogy is your nervous system regulation tools, when you have purpose, which is goal and motivation that we're talking about here, it's like
miracle grow. It makes everything you're doing better. Because if you're off track and you're experiencing anxiety and you're trying to do breath work to down regulate anxiety, it doesn't solve the problem that you're off track. Who follows? Does this make sense? But if you have a motivation that's like, this is for my children, that that statement alone is regulating. I felt that in my body. I felt the oxytocin go. I felt the dopamine go.
I felt the adrenaline. I don't even have kids, but I could feel it because I could step into that mindset. So who follows? This makes sense, y'all? It's so important. We have a goal, then we have a motivation. Okay? So what what's your goal? What's motivating you? Okay? Then what area of your life matters most right now? Not forever, but right now. Here are common areas. Right? Relationships, finances, business or career, playing enjoyment, personal
growth, impact or giving or health. So which area for you matters the most right now? Is it your relationships, your finances, your business, play or career, play and enjoyment, personal growth, impact and giving health? Which one? Could be something else too, by the way. Okay. Lots of great answers here. Okay. So we have our we have our goal. We have our motivation. We have one area. Which area we're gonna focus on? How many areas, y'all? How many areas?
One. Say it with me now. Pop it in the chat. To start. And how do I know which one to pick? Everybody has one area in their life where if this area improves, every other area is gonna thrive. Okay? For some people, it's your health. For the people, it's your finances. For some other people, it might be relationship. Okay? Or it might be I gotta get my business going. Right? But we wanna focus on not now. Can we eventually focus on all the other areas? Yes or no? Yes. But we wanna
focus on how many areas? Say it with me now. One. Now this next one, mind blowing. This one's mind blowing. I'm gonna say it ahead of time, and you can disagree with me, but I don't think you will. Okay? The next question is, are you making progress in your season? So this is something that nobody thinks about. Okay? What season are you in in the area that we just so some of you picked business, some of you picked relationships. Okay? Are you in a healing season where you have to
resolve something? Maybe there's, like, some symptoms you have to like, how do I know I've healed? I've successfully resolved symptoms or issues, and I can increase that basic function. Some of you are in a healing season. You can't function basically in in your relationships, in your business, in your in in certain areas of your life, in your health. Okay? If you're in a healing season and you try to optimize something, is that gonna work? Yes or no? No. So
most of us, if we're trying to do trauma work, where are we? We're in healing. Who follows? Does this make sense? Okay. But there's a lot more that we gotta focus on. Once you have a baseline of healing and you've resolved some of the basic symptoms of something where you can function again, now we can get into strengthening. That's greater resilience, greater capacity. Right? We can start to learn new skills. Right? We get to we get to not just heal, but think about,
like, I don't know, if you're broken foot. The cast comes off, and now we get into physical therapy. Right? Now we're strengthening. Okay? After some strengthening, then we get into performing back out in the field. Right? I'm going for my goals. Right? I'm showing improvement. I'm making things happen over time. Okay? And then we get to optimizing. But after performance, when we're making it happen, that's where we're tweaking, where we're trying to, like, improve
profit margin. We're trying to improve a little bit conversion. We're trying to, like, have an even better relationship with, like, even better sex or better vacations or, you know, something is even better with our children or better with our health, where we're trying to go for a personal record. Right? That's optimization. And what happens is is that people who are in a healing phase in, say, relationships are trying to optimize their business and going, why is it not working? They have
pause. They go, hold on a second. I need to focus on the most important thing, and that has to be my goal, and I need a good motivation for that. Who follows? This make sense? Okay. So does the amount of effort you're putting in match the results you've been wanting up until now?
