Let's get into it. Let's dive into it. Okay? So the first thing to understand is I'm gonna give you a very high level overview of the top 12 most common side effects around purpose in life. Okay? And we're gonna dive into that right now. Okay? So when we look at the research, these are sort of the top things that we see. Financial abundance and business success. So there's a direct correlation between financial results who here wants more money? Anybody? Anybody want more money? Okay. So

purpose in life. And financial results, direct correlation. Alright? Setting the example for your children. Better parenting. If you wanna be a better parent, purpose in life. Okay? Healthy love, romance, and passion directly correlated to purpose. Okay? Higher HDL levels, the good cholesterol, lower LDL levels. Right? So, yes, there's stats and there's lifestyle. Purpose in life literally gets the, quote, unquote, bad or whatever cholesterol lower and the, quote, unquote, good cholesterol

higher. Purpose in life is correlated with lower h b a one c levels. What does that mean? If diabetic, you know what that means. Right? So what does it mean? It means your life becomes sweeter without the sugar, literally. We see that in the physiology. There's improved sleep quality. Anybody have insomnia? Okay? Or have a hard time sleeping? Okay? Direct correlation between purpose in life and improved sleep quality. Improved immune function. Your purpose and your immune system are directly

correlated. Okay? Purpose in life lowers the risk of heart attack or cardiovascular issues. It builds resilience and heals trauma. It can lit the research is clear that purpose in life can add almost a decade to your life, independent of other factors. Talk about longevity? Come on. Who'd like an extra ten years? Anybody? K. That's what purpose that's what the research shows. It also improves cognitive function, which is brain capacity, and it enhances emotional regulation. Okay? So who

here thinks that these are, like, things that you would like to see? Yes? I'm curious. Okay. So let's kinda break it down a little bit because I promised you research, so I'm gonna give you research. So example. So

we have this research from 2022. Over the fall the four year follow-up period, people with the highest purpose had better subsequent physical health outcomes, reduced risk of mortality or death, health behaviors, reduced risk of sleep problems, and psychosocial outcomes, higher optimism, and reduced forty three percent reduced risk of depression. That's better than Herozak, just so we're super clear. Okay? So powerful in this new research. Okay? Purpose in life was

positively to post traumatic growth. This is from 2020, okay, in a study about, what happened after COVID. Purpose in life, when people went through the COVID trauma, we found that people had purpose in life healed faster, not just healing their trauma, but grew after trauma. So if you've been stuck in trauma, the research is very clear that purpose in life is something that helps us not just heal, but thrive after

trauma. Another example is that in the specific context of COVID nineteen, a high level of purpose in life was related to lower anxiety and emotional distress. And so it's a recent study specifically in the context of COVID. But what this tells us is that it tells us that when you have purpose, the likelihood of anxiety is down. Now think about that for a second. Think

about this for a second. Okay? If you're not going where you're supposed to be going, if you're not doing what you're supposed to be doing, what matters to you? Don't you think you should have anxiety? Think about that. Imagine trying to medicate that. Right? I'm not giving medical advice. I'm just asking questions. Right? If you're not going where you're supposed to be going, maybe their anxiety

is appropriate. Okay? Also, we looked at grief like emotions over the loss of normalcy can lead to a loss of purpose in life. So when we look at the last five years, there has been an exponential rise in grief, breakups, divorces, and and this, like, lingering loss of the pandemic. And we also kinda still feel that sometimes. Like, is it still 2020? Sometimes we wonder. Right? And so what happens is there's so much grief and so much shattering that can happen that there could

be a loss of purpose over the last five years. And a lot of people say, gosh. I just don't feel the same as I used to. Right? So if that's you, that's totally normal. Okay? Now we also see that possessing higher levels of purpose in life may provide a wealth of resources to cope with any situation, any situation. Right? And whether and it can buffer the effect of adverse experiences, that's

code word for trauma. What this means is purpose in life is like a buffer for trauma and could facilitate better learning and create better skills. So if you're not able to learn or apply what you're learning, okay, you may be missing purpose in life. Okay? So the research is clear. This is from 2013. Okay? We look at levels of awareness and purpose. There's a couple different levels. Okay? There's I don't know what my purpose is. There's I thought I knew what my

purpose was, but then I lost it. There's I don't believe I have a purpose. There's I know what my purpose is, but it's not happening fast enough. Or I know what my purpose is, and I'm rocking it if I'm ready to go to the next level. So where are you right now? So let me know. Are you, like, on number one, I don't know what it is. Number two, I thought I knew, but then I lost it. Number three, I don't think I have one. Number

four, I know what it is, but it's not happening fast enough. Or number five, I'm ready to go to the next level. Where are you? No matter where you are, you're in the right place. So here we go. I want you to think about purpose of versus purpose from. Changing one preposition from of to from will change everything. If you think about this for a second. Right? If we ask the question this is a, obviously, a really

dramatic example, but I'll give just just check this out for a second. Right? If we ask the question, what is the purpose of something like the Holocaust? Right? Well, the purpose of the Holocaust was genocide. Right? But if you think about it from the person who was going through it, who was, you know, being perpetrated, what's the purpose of the holocaust? It presupposes you think about what's the purpose of my trauma? It

presupposes. It means that there's a implied meaning that was supposed to happen, that was meant to happen, maybe you chose for it to happen. And and and we wanna delete that, like, completely. Okay? I don't believe that any trauma was chosen. Sorry. I can't get on board with it. Okay? However, if we go from purpose of to purpose from, everything shifts and changes. So Viktor Frankl, who wrote Man's Search for Meaning.

Right? The purpose of the holocaust was genocide. However, the purpose that Viktor Frankl created from going through the holocaust was he created logotherapy. He created man's search for meaning. He created a a whole therapy practice, and he found purpose from the adversity. Now think about this. Purpose of something, is that inside or outside your control? What do you think? If there's a purpose of something. The purpose of my trauma, the purpose of Mercury retrograde, the purpose of this, the

purpose of that, is that an internal thing or out external thing? That's right. It's external. Now if I say to you, okay. But let's find purpose from this. Is that internal or external? Inside or outside? What do you think? Pop in the chat. Leave a comment. Let me know. It's inside. So purpose of is something outside I can't control. Purpose from is something inside that I have control over. Fancy language, internal versus

external locus of control. Right? So purpose of something gives us an external locus of control. Purpose from something gives us agency or an internal locus of control. So we're not searching for some existential meaning of why did God or the universe or something do this to me. No. It's what purpose can I find from the adversity? And it, presupposes that something inside you has the capacity to answer that question. So purpose of, it's external. It's preexisting why

the trauma occurred. Okay? It's arguably impossible and potentially harmful to find a specific reason. Think about this for a second. Anybody asked this question before? Why did this happen to me? Who's asked this question? Anybody? Well, how far back should we go? Well, why did this happen to me? My parents. Okay. Why did it happen to them? Their parents. Why did it happen to them? Their parents. How far back do we go? Their parents. Their

parents. Okay. We go all the way back to the first parents. Why did it happen? I don't know. So if we keep going all the way back, what happens? The big bang. If you go far enough back, we get the big bang. Now why did the big bang happen? I don't know. I don't know. So in a way, asking why did this happen to me is unanswerable. Who follows? Does this make sense? Okay. Now we might need to understand a little bit of context around developmental stuff, family of origin stuff,

but the existential question of is this God's will? Why did this happen to me? It's unanswerable. So we like to think about things in terms of how useful is this. If it's useful, let's roll with it. Okay? And so we can focus on understanding that if we go far enough back, the answer is I don't know, even at a meta level. Ultimately, it's I don't know. Right? Because to know why the big bang happened would to be know a lot of things that nobody knows. Now we're in the realm of

faith who follows. Does it make sense? Okay? And I'm not gonna tell you what your faith is or what it should be. Okay? What I'm telling you is the research is clear. If you can find purpose from something, now we're in the present moment, you're in the driver's seat, and we don't need to answer questions that we can be debating existentially forever.
