For Day 5 we get back on track with a real version of the original story, this time with the Robert Zemeckis directed "Disney's A Christmas Carol". Jim Carrey voices Scrooge, as well as the three ghosts, and does a pretty good job of it in this 3D animated motion-capture feature. We also get probably our scariest Jacob Marley spirit and creepiest looking Ignorance and Want too.

Okay, so sometimes we get things wrong. Today we looked at The Simpsons Christmas special 'Tis The 15th Season. Sure as Christmas sepcials and Simpsons episodes go, this is a good one, however if we are talking variations or versions of the Charles Dickens orginal story, we are way off. There are some funny lines and nods to the source material, but it would really be a stretch for us to classify this as "A Christmas Carol" adaptation. D'Oh!...

How do you make the Ghost of Christmas Past look like they stepped out of a bad Duran Duran video? Obviously by making a version of the Charles Dickens classic in 1984. Today we look at the George C. Scott as Scrooge adaptation of "A Christmas Carol", which not only features a blonde, teased hair ghost, but possibly the best Ghost of Christmas Present so far, played very well by Edward Woodward.

For Day 2 of our Christmas Carol variants, today we went back to 1983 for the Disney animated "Mickey's Christmas Carol". In this version we see Scrooge McDuck taking on the iconic Ebeneezer Scrooge role, and Mickey as his loyal employee, Bob Cratchet. Throw in some other Disney favourites as Marley and the Ghosts, and you've got a pretty reasonable version of the original story. Sure, there's no mention of "Ignorance" and "want", but there is a shocking Tiny Tim scene neither of us were expecti...

As we roll toward the end of the year, it must mean it's time for Mitch and Joe to flood the airwaves with Christmas special cheer. However, this year there's a twist... For the last couple of years we've discussed 12 different Christmas specials in our mini episodes, but for 2016 we take it one step further and look at 12 different adaptations of the Charles Dickens classic tale "A Christmas Carol". So, after a bit of a chat about the original story itself, we dive into day 1, and go a bit trad...

As another year rolls into December, it must mean it's time for us to wrap up all that was over the last 12 months, and give you our top fives for 2016. Just like the last few years we lloked at the areas of gaming, TV, Movies, Comics and Podcasts, covering our favourites, both new or new to us, and honourable mentions of the what enjoyed most. We also take a sad look back and pay tribute to some of the celebrity deaths over the year too.

Tonight is Halloween, so it seems pretty fitting to discuss horror movies for the minisode this month. Joe looks back with fond memories to the "A Nightmare On Elm Street" series, especially 3 and 4, while Mitch goes a little bit newer, and tackles the 2014 Australian favourite, "The Babadook". We also have a chat about what makes a good horror film, and why we have both waned on the genre a little.

Mitch hasn't really done much this month except for picking up his new Xbox One, so we discuss his initial reactions to the console and the set-up itself, then we jump into some new TV with the HBO re-boot of "Westworld", Netflix original Marvel Universe series "Luke Cage", blood and gore with "American Horror Story - Roanoke" and animation and real world crossovers in "Son of Zorn". Joe then takes the helm with movies to discuss "Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children", the kids films "Zoo...

It's spring here in the Southern Hemisphere, and tomorrow is the AFL grand final, the biggest day in Australian Rules football, so did we pick something that fits into either of those themes for this month's mini? Of course not, we went with teenage ski films. Obviously! Seeing as Mitch came up with the idea, he got to pick the good one in the John Cusack cult comedy "Better Off Dead", whereas Joe lucked out and got to watch the lesser known, and frankly not quite as good, "Hot Dog...The Movie!"...

In gaming this month Mitch tried "Forza Horizon" and after a bit more Pokemon Go, Joe attempted to finish "Far Cry 4" but got distracted and went back to "Lego Marvel" to collect character tokens. We then talk TV with "Stranger Things", "Halt & Catch Fire", the third season of "Penn & Teller Fool Us" with new host Alyson Hannigan, and Mitch does a bit of cross-promotion and talks about "Hey, Hey...It's Saturday!" and his new Geekdudes spin-off podcast Hey, Hey...It's the Podcast which dr...

For this month's mini we recorded early due to the impending birth of a new little Mitchell, so it only seemed fitting that we look at a couple of baby related movies. Joe looks at the Leonard Nemoy directed "Three Men And A Baby" while Mitch gets a lesson in parenting with Michael Keaton in "Mr. Mom". Hopefully it gives Mitch some reminders of what it's like having a newborn around again.

In gaming this month we have a bit of a chat about "Far Cry 4" and "Mars: War Logs" on Xbox 360 before Joe jumps on the "Pokemon Go" bandwagon, then it's on to TV with Mitch finishing "Stranger Things", Joe diving into his Cornish roots with "Doc Martin" and a little bit of wrestling with our thoughts on the recent WWE brand split. We then look at movies with Mitch checking out the latest in the new Star Trek series, the Justin Lim directed "Star Trek: Beyond", DC's animated film "Batman: The Ki...

With the Olympics just days away, this month for our mini episode we thought we'd look at sports movies. So, in true Massive Attack fashion we looked at two films that probably have just as much to do with the Olympics as we do ourselves, with the Asian kick-fest "Shaolin Soccer" and the Psyche-out showdown, "BASEketball".

After a brief gaming chat covering "FarCry 3" for Joe and "Tron TV" and "Red Dead Redemption" for Mitch we dive into TV with the gritty 70's record producers in "Vinyl", Dinosaur robots in "Dinotrux", suspenseful criminal drama in "The Night Of" and small town sci-fi in "Stranger Things". We then jump into movies with the Irish 80's music-based drama "Sing Street", pan the acting in the new Peter Pan based "Pan" and go on a side tangent covering almost anything but "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." Mitc...

In the year of the next US presidential vote, and the eve of the Australian Federal Election, what better time for the boys to discuss political movies. Joe goes all school council crazy with the Reese Witherspoon and Matthew Broderick drama "Election" while Mitch looks at the McCarthy trials with the George Clooney directed "Good Night and Good Luck" Mitch even manages to slip in some important voting advise too.

We start off the show this month with a bit of a run down of our involvement at Continuum Convention 12 over the June long weekend, including panels and DJ'ing the costume ball, as well as tales of Mitch's drunken escapades. After that it's a brief chat about games with Joe getting stuck into "Farcry 3" and Mitch going back to the DLC for "The Force Unleashed", and some TV with "Great British Bake-Off" marathons, new comic adaptation, "Preacher" and ABC sci-fi with "Cleverman". Joe talks movies ...

On the show this month we depart from movies for a change, and look back at some of fondest gaming memories. For Mitch is was a little Sega Add-On that let you back up your games onto floppy discs and Joe talks about buying his first console with his own money, the Super Nintendo.

We're a week late and a little bit all over the place with Mitch sick with a cough, but it doesn't stop us from diving into games with "Rise of The Tomb Raider" and "Dead Space 2", talking TV with "The Walking Dead" and "Mike Tyson Mysteries", taking a huge bite out of the "Saturday Morning All-You-Can Eat Cereal Cartoon Party" at the Astor, as well as "Captain America: Civil War", "X-Men Apocalypse" and "The Huntsman: Winter's War" in movies, and still finding time to get all cultured with the ...

With Free Comic Book Day less than a week away, for this episode we decided to pick our favourite films based on comic books. It's Wrestlemania month, so in this episode we talk a lot of wrestling - the build up, the aftermath and what we though of the Wrestlemania 32 itself. We also have a chat about movies, including a pretty spoiler free look at "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn Of Justice", musicals with "Xanadu" and "Grease", and the romantic comedy "Leap Year'. A brief look at TV with "Orphan Black" and "Call The Midwife", and a little bit of Xbox with "Need for Speed: Most Wanted" and more mobile gaming with "Futurama:...

For the second of our Welcome To My World episodes we go back to our care-free high school days to look at two of our favourite films from our teenage years, the Queen soundtrack fueled decapitation frenzy that is "Highlander" for Joe, and the highly unlikely scenario of a teenage flying ace stealing a fighter jet to rescue his captured father in "Iron Eagle" for Mitch. Did we watch them repeatedly when we were younger? Sure did! Are they any good now? Probably Not. Either way, listen to what we...

It's our 50th episode, so we thought we'd celebrate in true Massive Attack form and pick something with "50" in it's title, but after passing on a 50 Cent film, "50 First Dates" or "50 Shades of Grey" we ended up settling on the sci-fi classic from 1958, "Attack Of The 50ft Woman." It's an iconic poster, but was the film itself just as iconic? Before that we also had a chat about the Aussie-ness of "Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel", the frenetic "Galaga Legions DX" and the episodic "Life Is Strange"...

Welcome to the strange world that is Massive Attack. This is the first of our new series of mini-sodes we will be posting each month between our main shows. Each one will focus on something we enjoy, starting here at episode 1 with our guilty pleasure films. Mitch pulls out an obscure one, and then revels in bagging out Joe's for being much more main stream than expected.

We start off the new year with a bit of a chat about the gaming we’ve done over the Christmas break, including “Rage” and “Borderlands The Pre-Sequel” on 360, and Mitch’s new ios addiction, “WWE: Champions”. From there it’s on to TV, including a non-spoiler chat about “Mr. Robot” and "Making A Murderer", re-cap of New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s “Wrestle Kingdom 10” and a pointless conversation about UK game show “Pointless”. Christmas Eve is here, but it's not the end of the world, it's just the end of our 12 Days of Christmas Specials Specials However, it just might be the end of the world for The Goodies in this Christmas epsiode from way back in 1977. Watching this again brought back many fond memories of our childhoods watching repeats on ABC, and made us yearn for a simpler time when comedy just worked. There are a couple of different versions of this available on YouTube, most are broken up into parts, but the...

For Day 11, the penultimate as Mitch rightfully pointed out, we put on our Puffy Shirts and headed back to the heady days of late 90's New York for the "Seinfeld" episode "The Strike". Not only does it bring up the concepts of the "two face" and making up fake charities to donate to as a way of avoiding buying actual presents, it was also the episode that made us all aware of that magical time of year that is Festivus. So grab your aluminium pole, get set for feats of strength and prepare to air...

As we head into the final stretch, Day 10 brings us another serving from "Bob's Burgers" with the Christmas episode from Season 3 called "God Rest Ye Merry Gentle-Mannequins". If you want to watch it for yourself before we do, there is a very good HD rip on KissCartoon.me you can check out.

Much like "The Simpsons", the origins of "South Park" stem from a Christmas episode too, so for Day 9 of our 12 Days of Christmas Specials we go back to where Trey Parker and Matt Stone started it all, and watch not one, but two specials, each called "The Spirit of Christmas". Firstly it's the 1992 one, also known as Jesus vs. Frosty, and then the slightly more advanced 1995 one which became known as Jesus vs. Santa, that went on to pave the way for the actual first season of "South Park". Both ...

Just like last year, Joe being the big Simpsons fan, he chose a Christmas themed episode from Springfield's favourite disfunctional family to add to the list for our 12 Days of Christmas Specials. So, for Day 8 this year we watched the Season 12 episode, "Skinner's Sense of Snow". When the Simpson kids and the rest of their class get snowed-in at school with Principal Skinner and grounds keeper Willie, Homer and Flanders plan a rescue. There are lots of classic moments in this one, and a couple ...
