Episode description

On this episode of The MacGuffin Guild, a failing ice hockey team finds success with outrageously violent hockey goonery.... in Slap Shot.

This 1977 Comedy classic stars Paul Newman, Michael Ontkean, Melinda Dillion, David Hanson as well as Steve and Jeff Carlson.  Written by Nancy Dowd and Directed by George Roy Hill.

We're gonna talk about Paul Newman's likability and how it impacts his character of Reggie, the best sports movies of the 1970's, the origins of JJ Beyonday, Weng Weng and Violence and Sexuality in film.

We'll discuss Hockey nuance,  giving yourself a nickname, Mike's sexual peak and we'll discuss if he's ever scored... in sports.

We'll also get the comparisons between Slap Shot and Major League,  Justin's shingles and Pat's legendary baseball moment.

I'm Pat Dougherty and as always I'll be joined by my fellow MacGuffin's Justin Jones and Mike Antonio.  Our theme song was written and performed by Jordan Vincent. Slap Shot... Out slaps... Out swears... and Out Laughs.
