Ep.37 - This or That

Hey there, guys, gals, I's going that's that's my intro. Welcome back to the lunch Break podcast. You don't recognize my voice. It's probably because Ricky's usually the one of the first year he's a more welcoming, soothing voice. But he gave me the job today, attached to open up this podcast. So that's me, Chris, And as I said, just said, Ricky is my my co host here laughing it up. Wow, Hey there guys. Yeah, not what you expect thing probably huh. I didn't

know what to expect. We never know what to expect. We just we just fly by the seat of our pants. And holy cow, that was funny. Well, right beforehand, Ricky was like, hey, do you want to open up the podcast today? I said, At first it said no, but he said are you sure? And I said, I'll give it a whirl, and that's what came out. So, hey, I whatever, I mean one time I started it with crash crash, that's true. What episode numbers is? By the way, I shouldn't even ask that,

no, I mean, I think it's episode number thirty seven. I was gonna ask, are we up? Are we up in the thirties yet? We're in the thirties, okay, which for as long as we've been doing this, not that many, no, but it also feels like quite a few. But took that many episodes for me to be the one that we're on, episode thirty seven. I can't believe I got that. There it is. That was quick ice cream. That was fun last that was a great one, very seasonal, good times, good times, for sure.

We're still in the midst of that summer season. But we did get some feedback on that. Actually, if you were curious, I am curious. I mean not a ton of not a ton of feedback though. Uh, our good friend Larry, yes, it's a loyal listener. He couldn't be a member of the church if we hated chocolate ice cream that much, which if you like chocolate, we certainly certainly bashed it. We did.

We didn't give it really much the time of day. I mean, so I didn't get a ton of look here now, so uh, Robin a friend, Robin agreed with me on Rita's and wah wah, oh yeah, how it's necessary up here. And my brother in law Dan, who's never without an opinion, and I love it. I love it. It's good. He said, that list is so messed up. You should all have picked a better list. But that thing is Yeah, that's true. We couldn't picked any lists. I mean, I didn't want to over analyze the

list beforehand because it's more fun being surprised by terrible takes. Let's well, he agree with us than essentially that the list was not a good one. He says, du Dutch chocolate is good. I've never I've never had that. Yeah. And then Chris, your buddy needs to come to Lancaster with you sometimes eat all the good treats we have here. Maybe you're my buddy, that's what he means by that. Yeah, yeah, I would like to do that. That'd be fun. And then chocolate marshmallow is delicious.

Is there's just a little Well you're the one that said that you like that no anti chocolate, Well, I don't know. Marsh topping, Yes, the top of the ice cream, which Katie Katie called poo poo on. She said, you can't not like chocolate with marshmallow and then like the marshmallow topping because that marshmallow topping is what is in the chocolate marshmallow ice cream. That's what she said, at least Lap Valley Farms. Well, maybe that's

how they do it. Yeah, but typically get little pieces of marshmallow. I'd see almost like little chunks of it. Oh. I always think of it kind of like throughout almost like yeah, yeah, like whipped whipped into it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I have. I guess I've seen that too, but I usually see it. I still don't like it. Yeah, I don't like it. There. It's not that I actively dislike it, like even chocolate ice cream. Just to clarify, it's we don't

like think it tastes bad. But if there is anything else other than that as a as a as a choice, if you have to reached for that over the jack and ice cream buffet, yea chocolate is not getting pick well. I get to say one thing though, too, as an a sort of an update too, as I did. I went on vacation and had

for the first time a gelatti. I found it, sought it out, and you know, I forewent my favorite, which is pistachio, because I always give everybody opportunity to try their pistachio, and no they I tried a gelatti and I was pleasantly surprised and I will have to seek that out elsewhere close around here, somewhere if I can find anywhere good combo. Yeah, yeah, what did you say you You said it was a where you usually get it usually like out of state. Oh is that out of state?

I could read, remember that's what it was. It was, Yeah, I mean, that's that's why I like the most. We've tried different places around here. There was a place we tried, but he wasn't just after we recorded that, or no, maybe it was the day before we recorded that episode where it felt like the Italian ice wasn't that great. Yeah, serve is fine. You get the soft serve and it is really just but

Rita's actually saw it. Does this thing now we just saw the other day on their social media almost like four like a tray with four things, four holes holes, I can't speak, four four spots to put okay, Italian ice, gotcha? Hold on wait wait today had to do it to myself. So you four different Italian ices or water ices, depending on where you're at regionally on what you call it, right, and then in the middle kind of amongst all of them, they would put just one big thing of

the soft serve custard, so you have different flavors. Oh, that's cool with out mixing back like a flight a flight of yeah right, Yeah, it looked great. So we're heading down. Oh, I wonder if they have riders in Delaware. We're going on vacation next week down too. I just got back and now you're going, yeah cool. If they have read is, I'm gonna maybe seek that out. You should definitely gonna have some soft serve. You gotta have soft serve at the beach. It's like a

thing that is true, it does working, it's hot. You gotta get something that's really yeah, that's enjoyable and that is refreshing. Yeah, and soft serve does that better than hard ice cream. I would say that's true. And I'm typically a hard ice cream kind of guy, so yeah, I admit that. But anyway, the Latti was really good, So nice follow steners. You maybe not have had it. They have another reason for trying it out. Give it a whirl. Yeah, you know, you

know, if you don't like it, that's fine, move on. We won't yuck your yum, that's right, or don't yuck our young that's right your yum, or whatever's keep it whatever, So what do today? We should just it down into things. So I'll preface this with this. I don't know. It's the same where I words is hard today. That's a show I watched a Guitar Pedal show. They always they have like a musical bumper when someone stumbles over their words and it goes words is hard. It's

pretty funny. It's the JHS Show. But speaking of podcast shows, there's a podcast I like to listen to that I can't say go ahead and subscribe and listen to it because it's definitely has some some language e things in it, but it's funny. But just let that be the warning. It's not a family show. But it's called Taste Buds and it's two guys sell Volcano as you might know from The Impractical Jokers, and then another comedian named Joe

DeRosa. He played the Veterinary and a better call Saul, and they go back and forth with each other on these different topics where one has to pick aside, the other picks another side, and they debate it and they do funny, just nonsense things like they recently they have my phone on do not disturb. Oh this is this recording audio still I don't know. My brother in law is calling me, Dan, who we just talked about. So I'm gonna leave this in. I'm gonna leave this in. Hopefully my video

restores. There we go. I thought we thought we lost it for a minute. There. Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and just let him know recording the podcast right now. Can't talk. I can't talk something very important, Yeah, because this seems like something I should do live for all of you to hear. I can't even I can't even spell while I'm talking. But anyway, so, oh man, recording this is terrible content. Terrible content. I thought I was gonna talk, and then I just was typing

in my mouth stopped working. It's hard to do both at the same time. Who's that Mitch mcado who just all of a sudden stopped talking. Yeah, Mitch McConnell. Anyway, on that show, they go back and forth these things, like just recently they debated like chocolate syrup or whip cream, and they spend a decent amount of time talking about it. They did the Grimace Versus Barney, Oh did they because the Grimace Shake, which update two. If you saw our video on the Grimma Shake, neither of us like

it. Yeah, not a good not a good beverage. Yeah, it's well, it's a limit of time, so it might not even be around more anymore. I'm just letting you know. If you saw our Instagram reel about the Grimmas Shake, I would think we both came to the conclusion we would never get it again. Yeah. Yeah, so even though we were thought we liked it in the car, Yeah, the first taste was best. After that it just went downhill dramatically after that. It's weird. But

then they even did one that Chris you thought was pretty funny. Sore throat or stuff your nose both terrible. You know, anybody, you have to pick one, you know which one would you go for. So today we just have a list of a bunch of either or things. Yeah, and

we're gonna just try and go through it now. As you know, if you've listened to the show for any period of time, we we are not good at being succinct, that's true, or tempering ourselves oo equacious brevity is not our strong suit, but we will try to make it for today. So if we get through this whole list. Yeah, so the first one we're gonna do fun. It's probably my favorite one in the list. So it's kind of a bummer, but it's a bummer that we're starting out with

it. Yeah, I just move down to the bottom. You can if you want to. Oh no, because now I've overhyped it. So if it's there, everyone's waiting for that that gem, and then they get to it, they're like, that's what we were waiting for. I don't like, I don't want to be an overhyper you know. So anyway, first either or jump jump right in cargo shorts or sorts. I have to go with cargo shorts, for sure. You go with the cargo shorts. I still wear cargo shorts, you know, from time to time, but not

as a rule. It used to be much more bigger than nineties. Yeah, along when with George now, just just so people who maybe don't understand the nomenclature, George are shorts are Gene shorts, right, I think everybody knows that. I think I don't want to assume you know what that's from Jane shorts shorts. I think I'm going cargo short as well. If you asked middle school me when I was super into Sean John, Yes, it would have been Jeane shorts all the way, because I had my south Pole

Jean shorts. I had my Sean John Geene shorts. But were they were they at one point they had I don't know if they still do, Cargo Jeane shorts, Cargo George. One of them may have been a cargo short. And they also had the carpenter ones. Remember the carpenter ones, A little time carpenter jeans for my hammer I had, Yes, I had carpenter

jeans and I had a carpenter George too. I don't think there were Tommy's, I mean Tommy Hill figure was I never did Tommy money, I know, Yeah, but I like would save up an entire paycheck just to go get a Sean John product. Yeah, like the shirt I had the bad Sean John all the front of them. I had a polo, but it was like the material of a bath towel. I don't know what I was thinking, but I wore it a lot. South Pole was big too, wasn't that another? Yeah that's what my other pair of you said that I

already then. Yeah, that's probably I thought it was planted in my head. Yeah, but us with my south I was gonna say wearing the lugs with with the shorts was the big thing shows, yes, sir, Yeah, that was the way that, yes, sir, it was handled back in the nineties. Man, if I if I came with my gosh, if someone said you want these pair of a pair of lugs, I wouldn't say no, I would take them. You're still wearing them. Well, I don't know how much in public I would, but I would want them.

I would want to have them. I think I would do. Actually, they were cool. I think yeah they would. They would look good still even I used to them with the right type of pants, though you couldn't wear with shorts anymore. I think we both agree, no shorts with lugs, right, I'm not agreeing to I have them and can we'll see. I don't think I have the same shorts that would compliment it. I like, I don't. I don't think these need these khaki shorts would go.

Well, it's probably with the lug. I think it has to go with a gene though at this point, like a gene pant obviously not a shorts. I would say, even I'm just going back to our either or here cargo shorts or shorts the original No, I gotta go cargo still. I just I'm thinking of the bulk on the side of the shorts, and I still want anymore. Yeah, but it is I got to hold more stuff. You got two extra options. It's functional. It is functional.

They can they can look they can look decent depending on how they're made. No, the Gane shorts just all right, shall we move forward? We're both that one goes to cargo shorts. Are we just going down the list here? Yeah? Okay, and what's our next one? There? I'll let you fantasy or sci fi? Now fantasy? How would you the genre? Yeah? What is deferent about? Well, you know what we should probably do? This was actually I think another one was birthed out of this

concept. We just jump to that instead. Okay, that makes more sense. It's still the same vein. So let's take probably the greatest of fantasy, Yes, and what I would say is the greatest of sci fi original trilogy. Yes. So so Lord of the Rings for on the on the fantasy side, yes, and then Star Trek no Star Wars Michael Scott yelling all right, so all right Lord of the Rings or Star Wars Wars, which I feel like for you is very easy for me, I I still

haven't decided. So, so you're gonna be like that guy in the restaurant when everybody else's ordering their food, you go first, I'll go last. You guys go ahead and first. Well, yeah, mine, Mine is definitely Lord of the Rings. And I'm not either a big fantasy or sci fi guy. I'm more of it like a realism I guess you would say, but I if I had to choose between the two, I'd go fantasy

Lord of the Rings. For realism, I think like if you're if you're well, anything that's that's typically like a drama film that's typically about real world events that happen, or a life of an individual that because of you know, not not fantasy as in like where you're in a fantasy realm, a different world, different universe or meta universe or anything like that, or sci fi. That's what Lord of the Rings is. I know. I'm just saying I'm typically not either one of these. Got Ian. I thought more

realism. I thought you were saying Lord of the Rings was more realistic than Star Wars. Oh yeah, no, no, no, no no no. The category I would find myself in would be more like, would be the more realism. But if I had to choose between these two, just hold on, I said, talking trees, anyone listen an who's super into Lord of the Rings. I know they're called ants, I know, I know. I even know that tree tree, but his name is Treebeard,

so he does get confusing. I finally watched that, Like I think I told you, I don't know if I said on the podcast, I finally watched all three of those and their entire entirety not the director's cut. Yet everybody asked me that one not the director's cut, No, that's just the originals, but it was. It was very good, and so I would say, yeah, Lord of the Rings all the way. And that is

sci fi guide in general. If you look easy for me, if you just look over my shoulder, you can see you got lots of representations Star Wars represented. I have no Lord of the Rings representation in here, though I do want to get in our friends Carl and Robin. I think I actually have this map in their house, a map of New York, but it's drawn like the Lord of the Rings maps. Oh that's cool, Yeah, that would be a nice addition. You would like that over an actual

map of of New York. No no, no, no, no, no New York of middle of the middle of Earth. Yeah, because it's kind of cool because it's like, oh, it's local, but it's real. It's not. It's not. So Yeah, I choose now, I skipt school. I already return of the k I order this New York strip stake. Now it's your turn. Order I turn just a water please. I think it does pay me because I feel like to choose one is to to to completely just ostracize the other. And I hate it because I like

Lord of the Rings so darn much. But I'm gonna go Star Wars's. But it's not it's not a good I don't feel good about it. Yeah, because Lord of the Rings is just those are better movies. The Lord of the Ring movies are better movies are better movies. I wouldn't know. I didn't see it, but I just like, I'm so invested in the Star Wars universe. But if we're just going trilogy for trilogy, okay,

gosh, no, you're gonna I can't cut out. I can't because I can't let the story over the actually production, the production quality is what you're saying is better of the Lord of the World. The Lord of the Rings is even probably a better story. Everything I'm saying is pointing to Lord of the Rings. But if I come out and say that I would take Lord of the Rings over Star Wars, probably somebody's self listening unhappy. We can't

make everybody know what that's what we're gonna be true to yourself. We make people listening unhappy, it's true, and we're sure to try to make people happy. Should we come back to it. I need I need to pick one. I need to pick one and four three Star Wars Star Wars story. Thank you, Dwight. Okay, sorry the way he did it, you remember that from the office. White's trying to make h buy Andy's car, or make Andy buyas car. It's like do it three two one,

sell me the car like some crazy price. All right, let's move on, all right, Next second Genesis or Super Nintendo. This is funny because what you you, well, you have both now I do, but grown up you didn't have both. I didn't. I had superintend and I grew up with Pechod Genesis. So you choose. Then, if I had to choose between it, but I had friends who had Superintendo, so I did

play it from time to time. I never owned it, but if I had to pick one, I would say Sechod Genesis and I would probably choose Super Nintendo. Yeah, I would be fine missing out on the on all the Mario games to have you say that as though to have like the Balloto's Double Dragon, to have like I have Battletoads. You had that on Superintendent. I had battletoats for any s, but Battos Double Dragon. Oh the

Combo. I think they made it for Superintendo? Did they? Chris where I was just looking it up. We did't have mortal combat though, yes I do. They had more combat superint Yes, I have wret A combat and wre A combat too. Wow. That's blowing my mind right now for some reason. Tell me what else you think that Nintendo doesn't have Sonic. That was a hard one for me because I really do love so that one.

For me, I'm not a huge Sonic fan. Like, if I did choose between the two of those, Sonic or Mario would go Mario for sure. But then why would you choose no gens? Because I'm trying to think of all the games that I had, like you probably didn't have, like uh oh like Jam Aladdin. Yes, oh my goodness, but they were dou they were the same game, but there were differences between the two, okay, which happened a lot on Supernintendo Ones versus Genesis ones. But

okay, yes, Lion King al NBA Jam. Yes, we've played NBA Jam. I'm my Supernintendo. Oh yeah, we did. That's true. Although I think that like the Betters, I think it was different. It was a different Second Genesis. I think had a higher capacity for graphics. I mean that's a better frame rate or something like that. There's something about it that definitely set it apart visually. But you've named so many games that I actually I didn't realize all those things were on there. So but at

the same time, I think I'd still go with the Second Genesis. Yeah, I'm gonna go Superintendo. As much as I like Sonic, I just can't imagine a world without Super Mario World. Can't we do this when we actually had the Cape? Right? Yeah, that one's that one's so good. I don't think I played that though, honestly, well, no, I did play because my friends had Okay, let me Country, don't Key

Kong Country. I didn't play that game. Well, you had a genesis, that's why, right, I know those were only Mario Kart only. Yeah, I didn't never grow up playing Mario Kart right, sad existence I had had a Thriving Distance, but you got you had Michael Jackson Moonwalks. Sure, yep, that's true that that is a game I don't believe came out for Supernintendo. Could be wrong, but I think that was Park. I had a drastic Park game. Yeah, okay, I had to go

back, but sometimes it was first person shooter. Sometimes you were running around with dinosaurs springing by. Yeah, I had that. Okay, it's terrible game. Yeah, it wasn't a great game off, but I think I just liked I think I do like the way that Sega gens. I think I liked the gameplay better than I did on the I would have said the the Nintendo, the Sea button never did anything. He had too many but Earthworm Gym. He didn't have farth from Gym. Uh there is Earthworm Gym

for Supernintendo. No, yeah, no, I can't fact check. I mean maybe there is no. No, They've all of a sudden created works. Well, no, no, no, they but they did buy I think Sega or Sega and Nintendo some did some kind of a partnership, so and like for instance, now you can yeah, but I see Mario and Sonic together. Oh yeah, but I don't. But I don't think. I don't think. Back of the day, Earthworm Gym was available. Well, I had it for Pete. I had it. Oh man, you're

you're gonna look so silly, you know what. I just saw this. I just sell it over at Shrewmy's. Did they have it there? Yeah, that is Earthworm Gym. Okay, Earthworm. Jim had it for PC. Groovy. Yeah, I may have even had it. I think I got it. There was a store up you remember Aims. Yes, well, Ames was selling SNS games when the N sixty four had been well established out for a while. But they were still selling Oh they those packages as

they were, they buy more than one. I no, there were normal boxes, but they were for some reason that store was still carrying them. So that's when I got like a Looney Tunes game, and I'm pretty sure we got Earthworm Gym, but that's where we got drafted anyway. So it's you could you're pretty much telling me there's no there's no good reason for me to have as when I could have gotten all those same things, unless maybe Kid Chameleon or something like that. I know, I don't care about that.

Yeah, you can play Ninja Gaiden for SNS. You could so many good games. Yeah, okay, that's okay, but I'm choosing SNS. You might as well speak with Genesis. I got to at this point. All right, what's next? All right, let's go to fashion here. Let's talk about what's on your feet. And we're not going crocs because that would lose to everything, absolutely would except maybe the keen hiking said. Anyway, what are they called? Tivas? Those things I hate. I don't

know what they are, but I'm just thinking Tivada looking up. This is we're looking stuff up. We didn't hook the monitor, but I think you need to see this because you'll know exactly what I mean. Yeah, I think it's TeV Tiva's sandals. Oh gosh, they're making a comeback. I don't. I see people with these all the time. Now, I don't like them. This this is the quintescent. No one sees what we're looking at. But okay, they're the sandalence with the strap around the ankle and

the strap around the front of the foot. Yeah, I hate him with a nice, very supportive foam were trying. No, they're not supportive, was ironic. Let's let's talk about good footwear. Converse All Stars, Yes, lower high high. I was putting either option out there, lower high doesn't matter. Okay, you're saying, or Vans, which I also have a lower high option. Sure, so I am. Actually you're wearing You're

wearing the Converse right now. You got him on the camera. These are not my favorite Converse, just the ones I have Chuck Chucks, Chuck Chuck, Taylors. I got these funny. I got these not out of spite. I don't want to say that. But before I went to Disney World in twenty twenty, my brother was just like, make sure you get walking shoes. You gotta have good shoes for walking. I went and bought Converse, just despite what he said. And then he got he thought I was

so stupid for wearing Converse the whole time. I meanwhile, I felt feet felt great. I just love Converse. Man. You know, I haven't had a pair of beause I haven't had. I don't think I've ever had a pair of Vans, okay, and I hope, but I almost bought somebody. I didn't find the ones I wanted, so I ended up getting a different shoe altogether. What I ended up getting oh Nikes, the tennis

shoes, and then Converse I haven't had since middle school. But if I had to choose between the two, I had to go with Converse only. Although I hear good things about vans, I would say only because converse are are the recognized They're the ones that I looked. I think are more stylish looking than the vans are. But I don't plan that. But I don't like it. I don't like that van wave. You don't have to have that canvas that you've seen. Those are the ones I like, But I

don't like the ones that have that wave in them. They looked like I had the waves about it on the pair of Vans that were actually more like a skate shoe than my other vans, the ones I wore the day of my faithful crash. We're both elbows. Decided to break both complement a pair of jeans rather well. But I think I'll go converse They've been a staple for me for a long time. If I'm drawing a character like a little cartoon person, the shoe of choice is going to be a converse. Yeah,

it is. By the way, I've always noticed this is that the van logo in the back always seems to come where essentially the soul comes together. Rubbert really sticks out there. Yeah yeah, yeah, that must be a thing like they must do that intentionally of it. It looks like it's a manufactury defect, but they just they just roll with it. Yeah. Anyway, Yeah, so we're both going converse. All right, all right,

this one should I can't imagine. We talked about this very long smart watch or traditional watch, so not smart, yes, like an analog or all right, so let to the cameras. I'm clearly going with the smart watch, and I got the traditional and Chris has a traditional and I would time at smart all day. I'd say, no, I'm I'm a traditional guy. One, how my options open? Yeah, I know, I

can make mine look like a traditional watch. We see. The thing about that is that you can you can use it for something completely different than a watch, so it doesn't even have to necessarily be a watch. Doesn't. So I could wear one of these for telling time, which it's really good at doing, and then I can have another one on my other arm my risk of everyone too, and just call it a smart band, right, or a health band or something like that, Right, Why just wear the

one? But if I had to choose between the two, I'd still be a traditional watch. Yeah, I'd go smart watch all day long. Yeah. I like the convenience of never having to I never have the sound on my phone on. You don't have to change. You probably don't to update your watch the time either, No, but I have to update the watch, which is a major drawback, is you know the at least this is the series three Apple Watch. It's it's pretty old, man. The updates

terrible, they were. They didn't consider that one very well when they when they made that one. Now, but yeah, the fact that I this is my alarm in the morning, it goes off, doesn't wake up Katie. I mean so many I use this for so many things. I wouldn't want to go back. Right, if you get a regular watch with an alarm, it's gonna have to beep, that's true. I don't have the sound on my phone. Sound of my watch not yeah, the Iron Man,

I had one of those back in the day. Let's go back to the movie world, all right, let's go where we at ace Ventura or ace Ventura two when nature calls? It is a very difficult one because they're both so highly it's whatever one notable and funny, it's whatever one you had in your possession longer as a kid. Yeah, that's probably which neither movie really should have been in our possessions as kids. Yeah, Like, if you think about it, especially the first one, Yeah, I had.

I had the first one, so I always looked at the second one as the one that was I don't not better, but it was, Oh I really wish I could watch that because I didn't have it, right, maybe have a longing for it. So it's more of like, oh, I'd rather I have this one. I could watch anytime I want to, but and I still will, but i'd rather I really wish I had the other one. I could watch like it was it's it's it's always the grasshoways greener?

It's like always better. If I had that one, then I could really Yeah, we only have had the second one, the second one, but I watched the first one in other places, but the second one I quote far more. Yeah, and I just love a good quote. So I'm going ace Ventura when nature calls. If I did choose between the two, i'd go with I think I had to say the same thing as to go to the side. I mean that's the one we quote. Yeah, I think you. I had to go on. Whatever, They'll switch the

whole next to two. Put it quick. Whatever I'm getting, like whatever, it's warm, I'm always like it's getting not in this running just like stupid stuff like that. I supposed to say, he's in there's like he says, he says, yeah, he says that, but he knows something else like warm exactly, he goes warm. Yeah, yes see, it's

so good. I have to go. But if you're ever playing pick up football and someone does a kickoff poorly, someone's yelling laces out, which goes to the first one and the first one just one rover set, let's see that's hilarious time. Yeah, yeah, that's true. Yeah, but I'm have to go with which the Cliffhanger party opening. Yes, it is hilarious, which he's is even funnier, is that? Arnold Schwartzenegger superimposed on to

Jim Carrey on the Brian Marnarch Instagram page. It's something again I can't actually promote, but we'll mention it because it's funny. Uh So we move forward back to the eaton realm. I'm thinking more like just sweet versus dill. Okay, yeah, because because you can, That's right. You can get

it in different formats, right. You get the gurkas, which are the small ones too, Yeah, the gerkins gherkins, which we like in our house now too with when we do our shark cuterie board. That's the new element we've added to it recently. But so swee yeah, so pretty much as sweet or dill, I think I think I got to hang out in dill land as much as I do like a bread and butter or any kind of a sweet variant, sometimes I don't like. Well, it's hard because

Dill even has dis different categories, That's true. I'd rather have a class and Dill than a lassic dill. Yeah. If I had to take the two big brands, yeah yeah. Or there's another one out there that olive something maybe no oh yeah yeah yeah they make like the pepper and chenies, yeah, green olives whatever that brand. I would go cloths in that kind of it's more of a salty dill than like a vinegary dill. Yeah, yeah, I got you, like a deli dill. Yeah. It's I'm

trying to think because I used to always be dill all day long. That was my favorite growing up, for eating those gherkins. And then all of a sudden, I started getting the yeah, the gherkins, and you know, adding the I'm thinking, yeah, I don't know's there's another. I'm going to do another positive Lancaster shout out because I feel like after the episode with the Wives, I don't know, people thought it was very negative towards

Lancaster. Maybe it's because I said negative things and succession. Yeah, but it's funnier because Katie was there. Without Katie here, I'm very positive. But there's a place called Kitchen Kettle Village that has a jelly, jelly and jam shop. But they have pickles and they have so many different pickle variations. They have a lot of great pickle flavors, so you could sample them

when you're there. Yeah, well you good. I don't know, uh post COVID not sure what they got said up, but yeah, you just have a tooth some like spicy ones. Oh yeah, yeah, you know what, it's really good. But they had some sweets that were that weren't over the top and they were really good. More subtle sweet. Yeah, sweet, sweet and savory together that would be good. But yeah, if I have to land in the playing in one direction, I'd say dill im

same way, I'd say the same thing. I like that vinegary so more of a more of a savory than a sweet guy in general anyway, so I'd say yeah, for the most part, we're maybe it's about fifty to fifty and whether we're on a united front on these or not. Maybe it's not obscure. It just regular people. It's worthy, regular diet item. Maybe maybe for some you know what, there was a little while where it was probably a part of mine a lot. Okay, But tuna fish salad or just tuna fish as most of us think of it, Yeah, yeah, or chicken

salad. So the sandwich sandwich tuna or sandwich chicken and that in that kind of it was in a can. Now we're well, are you taking can chicken or even just cut up with mayo kind of chicken, whatever your chicken. If you order a chicken salad, that's what you're expecting. Yeah, whatever, you know, whatever chicken salad is. Yeah, I'm just going tuna fish, tuna fish. I'm gonna say tuna fish too. Actually really yeah, I like tuna. Oh I didn't thought this would maybe have more

thought to it. No, I mean I like sucking salad, especially like the one I've been getting recently at the store, like the cape cod inspired which has got like the crazins in it, and it's got some pecans or walnuts in it, you know, and then so it's got that kind of element to it, which is that's really very good. Yeah, and any my wife likes Brianna really likes that. But just gonna shout out our friend mining Katie's friend Janet from down in Pennsylvania makes that kind of chicken salad and

I had it. It was very very good. I would choose that chicken salad over tuna. But that's a very specific one in general, just a general just mixing it with mayonnaise and putting on a slight Yeah, maybe maybe with celery, and I don't know. I think I would still go tuna. Yeah, I would still go with tuna as well, although yeah, periodically I liked that other kind of chick that out. Yeah, anyway, cool, Right, let's dis agree on that one. Let's get local.

Yeah, let's get Capital region kind of upstate local. Let's go gas stations, but not because of the gas. Yeah, but maybe gas is a part of it. I don't know, maybe Cumberland Farms or Stewart Shops. Now, there's going to be some people that wouldn't even have to think twice about this. They grew up up state, they got their Stewart shops. They're not going anywhere else. They go there every day or that they have they have a Stewart's Shops mug. Maybe even they do because you get refilling

it. Oh my dad was a Stewarts guy, so yeah, people who were Stewarts people from the days of old. Is because Cumberland Farms used to be hot garbage. That's true. I mean it used to be one of the worst places that. Yeah, no, until they redid them. They really put a lot of money and so a lot of money in them and change their a lot of what they do inside. And they have a rewards program now and they're ten cent off per gallon, sometimes twenty sometimes at random.

Right, I'm just gonna set this right now. I'm going Cumberland Farms. Okay, there's not enough at Stuarts that that makes me go Stewarts. The only thing that has me that Stewarts has on Cumberland Farms for me right now is the ice cream. You can't beat. Cumbering Farms doesn't have ice cream to offer you, No, not in that way. I mean maybe they have some generic ice cream with their logo on it, but but they

are them in Turkey Hill are owned by the same company. So unless it's Cumbering Farms with some Turkey Hill logos sometimes, which those change things a little bit. Stewarts. Stewart's ice cream is better than Turkey Hill ice cream. Yeah, and I'll die on that hill all day. Stewartstill like, let's get the sentiment to it. It's it's still even even there their signage, everything about it, even even when you're at at the pump, right and you're like, oh, you know you could get a free coffee? Did

you know you could get a free coffee with every pump? And it's like even the way that it's it's written. Sometimes it's handwritten, but but it just has that that look and feel of home. I will say, homes hometown. It's had the same look forever forever. Well I've only been here since two well only, but since two thousand and it hasn't really Yeah, but everything two changed for the babies, but everything, but everything has changed

dramatically for for Cumberland Farms since two thousands. Yeah. I don't want a world without Stuarts right right, I have to pick where I'm stopping for a treat on a road trip. I like the roller bites. Oh yeah, I like their coffee a lot more. Yet, there's people who swear by Stuarts coffee, and I think it's just because they don't actually like coffee. Could that could be they want something light that accentuates the creamer that they put

in. Well, they still make them. They still make them in the coffee caraffs, they put them on rafts always say the thing wrong. I never can say that craft. Did I say, correct, ump can whatever? You know what I'm talking about it? Yeah, they don't have the pots. Yeah, they still have the pots. Yeah they put out what the what? What the thing like? The craft you're talking about? The

Yeah, I don't like dispensing my coffee that way. No, No, I want a little firs coming from the whole forward and the coffee just comes out, you know, like the typical coffee dispenser. But that's and the if Stuart's coffee was so good, if their method was I had to do the right, that's fine. But I just don't like Stewart's coffee. Yeah,

I think I agree, very rare. Do I go in and get my coffee and go this tastes fresh, This is very Even if they say they just put a fresh pot on it, I still don't like it. Yeah, I like their breakfast sandwiches. Though they make good breakfast sandwich. They also have a really good uh apple fritter of all things that stars. Okay, yeah, I'm not better than Duncan Donuts. I don't go well Duncan Donuts. It's really there's a lot better than Duncan Donuts these days.

I'm just saying, like, if you're going to compare it to a place that's supposed to do it really you think would do it really well. You know, they do a better job of it than even a Duncan Donuts. Who that's what their bread and butter should be baking donuts and things like it. Who has better bread and butter? I'm just getting it exactly. Oh, anyway, I agreed on that one. This is this impromptu either olive garden breadsticks or red lobster cheddar Bay biscuits, Red lobster cheddar Bay biscuits.

Yeah, okay probably yeah, although but it was it was a really good question because I like the bread sticks there. You get the bread sticks on the right day, They're really good, man. You just keep shoving those. They don't even need any salt, garlic, salty things, eat any anything with them just eating. They are good if you deplement something though too, like whether you're eating, you lap up the overabundance of dressing from the salad. That's what I do with it. Yeah, that's one way.

They have the soggiest salad of ever eating my entire life. Because it's not a good salad. No it's not. It's it's it's it's it's a satisfying salads say it's it's obviously not going to compare to like a really well made salad or you know, at a place like even like a Panera or those kind of things. But they make a salad for people who don't really like salad, Like you're gonna come out, you're gonna taste the Italian dressing more

than you will ever taste the single vegetable. But the Italian's dressing that they sell. Maybe the way that they the right they get the right ratio or they have like their salad is it's chilled really well first, you know what I mean, something that they do with it that makes it like, oh, this is really good, Like it doesn't taste as good unless you have

it in in the restaurant. That way, it's a salad you can slurp though it is, which I know if Andy and listen to this, they would say, there's nothing that I can't slurp, because that's my reputation. But it is a salad that like if you didn't have teeth, you can still eat it because the dressing has broken it down so much. They pre dress all their salad for the whole week. So if you go to Olive Garden on a Friday, you're really going to get the soggy treat. But

I do like to get the pepper and cheeny. But anyway, so yeah, but cheddar babies, I think I would go like that. That was a good question. It just came to me. It just came to me. Let's stay in the food. We're still in the food here. Yeah, we got a few food but it is the lunch break, so it does make sense. True, Nikki D's or Burger King, Man, if you had to choose the one, you know what, Depending on my time of life, this answer changes. I am currently at the place. That's

a good point. I mean, I am at the place where I'm choosing Burger King over McDonald Me too, Me too. It used to be McDonald's because I just thought McDonald's fries were superior, which they I guess they are, But I think Burger King's onion rings are superior to McDonald's fries. So I'm going Burger King. I think Burger's crazy better. Yeah, I think, I said, I think it's for me. It was just the burger.

It's like that it has a taste to it. Yeah, that has a flavor that the flame broiled taste to it that you don't get taste. McDonald's tastes very good. You know you have to you're depending on whatever else, although well, I still think you're still your your your flavor profile is determined by what's on the sandwich with your burger McDonald's in a sense, well

right and McDonald's and almost depends on Burger King. You still know, no matter what you have on your burger, you're still gonna get the flame royal taste is gonna come through, yes, right, because all their patties are the same. But you're if I want a big Mac, it's a different path to say I ordered a big Mac with nothing on it. Just give me a bun in burger, which is bizarre. I would never do that, but if I did that, and I would said I wanted a quarter

pounder with nothing on it that would taste like two different restaurants. That's true, and that's the problem. That is true. So I'm a quarter pounder guy. I don't actually go Big Mac very often because I like the flavor of the quarter pounder. But I think it's because that really gets a little closer to what Burger King offers. Sure, and Berking's got a wider burger, Like you really feel like you got a sandwich in your hand. That's

true. Yeah, and now for nothing the Burger King crown. You get a crown at the end, that's right, And you get a crown to be a kid to have it either, Like I haven't asked without having a kid, but I can suppose you're right. They they ushould just leave them out, set them out. I guess some places still do that, but I get asked for it. Yeah, can I get a crowd? Yeah? I know. What I like too, is like that's that's uh, what's the sauce they give you with the onion rings? I like that.

You say they give it to you, Well, if what's the sauce you want with the onion rings? But they never never put in the bag. Yeah, yeah, that one zest sauce. I love that. It is a good sauce. I love that sauce. So okay, burger king all right and within that same vein. Then would you rather have hot dog or hamburger? Hamburger, not dog? Not even a question. I know you're a more hot dog guy. I love hot dogs, man, Yeah, I just think they're not They're not worth not worth it. I mean,

you have the right hot dog. You're not talking bars do you ever? Doggie? They're terrible with no context. But I'm not going to tell you how I know. But bar as, if you throw them very hard against a wall, burst into nothing, you won't find pieces. You'll find maybe a little tiny specks, but there are such little meat content that they just disintegrate if you feel it hard enough. Found that out. No, but Nathan's hot dogs are good. They are all good hot dogs. I'm not

saying I'm against hot dog. I'm just say no, I have I definitely prefer a burger like that. I just I just love a good hot dog. I would choose it, though not at five guys. Like if I go to five guys, I never order their hot dog, right, Yeah, because here's the thing. If it's one hot dog or one hamburger, I'm gonna go one hamburger because I can't have just one hot dog. Although their hot dogs that are bigger though not that, but but still five guys

is knowing for their birds. They're a burger place, you see me. Yeah, I'm not even one hot dog. I don't care they slighted it in half two by the or I've seen this split. I don't need that. I don't split my dogs. I'll do that for myself. If I want to split it, i'll split it normally. I don't want it all right, let's change gears here. This is in spiado from from the Taste

Buds podcast, but a little different, a little different. So if you're if you're going to be sick, i'd you rather have a stomach bug or like fever chills. Yeah, to go with one thing. I just I'm a baby when it comes to is anything stomach related, like nausea. I can't. I can't handle nausea. So I have to go with fever chills, as much as that's annoying because that usually comes with body ache. I mean, that's all combined, right, I remember, I remember we were

when we went to the Cape was No, it wasn't the Cape. We went to where do we go? We went a little a little Oh it was for Natalie's basketball tournament. We went to Oh, my goodness, where where there where the Olympics were hosted here doesn't think of Lake Placid? With the Lake Placid. And I ended up getting, yeah, getting fever, chills, and and then you know, I knew what it was. My throat was bothering me, so it was obviously, you know what I what

I thought it was. And then so I went there and they confirmed that I was sick, and obviously they gave them the antibiox and but I remember driving back to the hotel and I'm like, I had the chills and I hadn't had in a long time, but I was back at the chills and I was like trying to drive at the same time. It was a terrible sensation. But yeah, so I'd prefer that over the stomach bug, for sure. With the stomach bug, I'm usually pretty confident that within twenty four

hours it'll be done. Okay. I don't normally have a stomach bug that lasts longer than that. Sure, but I certainly have had like fever chill kind of stuff that has been a couple of days. And I don't like that. Like I like going to bed after a day of being sick and thinking tomorrow will be a better tomorrow, Like you have that in your mind, like this is just very temporary. But like when you go to bed, could be up sweating. Yeah, you're like, shoot, I don't

feel any better. Yeah, I don't like this. It's funny. I'd rather. I'd rather, I'd rather pull a two day or of the feverite chills and a one day of stomach bug, because just at least the stomach bug does such a baby. I'm going stomach bug. But you know, you have that time of vomiting, right, you feel some relief. You're like, ah, I feel a little bit better now. Sure, a little bit later it comes back and you're like, I don't know, it's

still again. Yeah, I need I think when it gets to that that point where you literally have nothing left in your stomach to get rid of, that's when it hurts a lot, Like that first one, not to gross everybody with that first throw up when you when you've had food it's not so bad because it's mostly food. But then when it's just stomach biop, that does sting. But I think I would rather that having just the last time I was sick was like feverite, chills, sore throat. Ye, I

want nothing to do with that. Yeah, yeah, I want to throw up. Either of them are fun. I want to throw up stomach bug and you know stomach bug. You got a fifty fifty. You could have the stomach bug that comes out the mouth or the stomach bug that comes out the the old backside there they yeah, coming out to you old took us

there. Yeah, yeah, and I would take to took us over to mouth all day as far as where things are coming out of you out of the old body there, and when these things happen are usually No, it's not usually in these seasons. But let's go to our next either way. Yeah, I was thinking I was gonna have a segue, but then I don't think my segway is accurate. I think most of these things happen in

the winter. But if you had to choose a season, because we live in a region where people say I have I like to have four seasons. Seasons that's why I like living here. Yeah yeah, depend two against each other. Fall fall otherwise known as autumn or autumn or spring, dog Dog, Dumb and Dumber or any other comedy dumb and dumber or spring. So here's the thing, like spring always brought joys. One, there's two, there's there's multiple aspects to these of why I would choose one or the other.

Spring means baseball, m and so for me that always meant springs rolling around. It's ready for me to play baseball, and I always like that. Yeah you're coming out of the cold, you're just but you you yourself being up. Yeah yeah, not necessarily a major league baseball though, I guess that's probably what it is. More now we do have softball, which is not the same. But but then fall brings means foot football, and I'm going fall. I'm just going fall as much as like I'm clear,

I'm a baseball guy. If you can't tell the I do have a football up there. I am a baseball guy, a Mets. I love baseball, but man, do what I love pizza on Sundays during football season, which I know football season is far more than the fall. Actually, most of it curs in the winter. True, but the fall gets me there, man, It's yeah, what do you really think? I just Jerry when pizza popped in my head, Iges automatically went fall. I don't have

baseball, I don't make food to watch baseball at. Disappointment on my face is not so much that you chose it because you like fall better or that I disagree with it. It's the fact that I thought we were gonna be I thought we're gonna have two different answers to this one, but we agree on this one as well. Oh so you do like fall like fall? Oh I thought you were disappointed. No, no, no, no, it's the point because I was thinking for this is certainly one that we would

have differences on, but we didn't. But no, I like I like Fall for well, different reasons, but some of the same. Like I like that it's not so much watching football, because I don't watch football much. But it was when basketball started, right October November is when, like that is when the NBA would start playing. I thought it was October October's preseason, so you know, it's so, but you know, I'd still consider it fall because you're going back to school, like you know, I

like to like going to school. I liked I like the cool, the Christmas of the air. I like cider donuts, see apple picking. I like. You know, but this was initially hard for me. I was thinking it was gonna be hard because I've grown to enjoy spring now because it's the end of winter and something that's changing. You're finally going into nights or weather. But I still I still like the fall, like everything about it.

I even like, I know this sounds funny, but even like the the pumpkin pumpkin spice, you know, Lattees, which is coming out in this month, Yeah, which is ridiculous. I'm anti I'm antip. Yeah, I'm very pro pumpkin stuff. Yeah, but just wait until it's t wait first time, until the pumpkins are ready. That they're doing. They're doing the same thing with this pumpkin stuff that they did with Christmas. They're jamming it down your throat two months too early. That's true. I want

nothing to do with it. If you ever listened to our episode about Christmas too early, you know how I feel about doing stuff too early. I agree it is too early. Let things come, let the excitement build. Yeah, like except Labor Day's coming. You're like, oh, my goodness, we're getting closer to fall, getting closer to that pumpkin spice, that apple cider. Oh. Wearing wearing a hoodie everywhere. I love wearing hoodies. I do like good hoodie weather. I like hoodie weather, hoodie and

jean weather. It's great weather. You get a hoodie with some jeans and a good pair of Converse. You gotta look. You got a very relaxed look about you. Yeah. And it's very nice. It's nice, very it's nice. I'm liking it a lot. Okay, So, I mean, apple picking is just a fun going to an orchard and enjoying the fall activity. It's going for a hay ride and the beautiful color of the trees and foliage, foliage, and it's so wonderful. I missed that I didn't

have that and growing up in Florida, but now I love it. People used to go for rides just to look at the foliage. Yeah, let's go, let's go. Let's go take a ride to uh in Vermont, which is not that far away from here. Let's take a look, just so we can look at the foliage. Yeah, that's the only reason it's a good enough reason. Yeah, right, I mean you also get some pumpkins along the way. Don't get me wrong, right, but I mean like that's a premise. I would say a fall event. I don't like

to I don't like carving pumpkins. I don't like car it's not a big fan of it. No, not either. I like the pumpkins, it's just the carving part. Yeah, I like them lit up at the end. Yeah, but the whole process to get there, it's kind of like me and the end does not justify the means. Christmas trees, Well, you get a fake one, you'll love them. I know. I wish I could. We are at fifty five minutes speed through these. Let's uh okay, okay, can we really speed through this one? No, we

can speed through the next one, but the first time. All right, let's do this one because this one's this was just funny. I forget why I brought it up. You were over analyzing something, but anyway, you're over yeah something. Oh it was it was energy drinks, wasn't it. Yes, yes, so impulsive or analytical? sometimes, but and I can be it. I can be like if I walk in your office and I'd be like, you want to get some taco bell? You don't think about it very long. That's true, you're usually in for some taco bell. But other things I'm sometimes over analytical about. Like I've been asked you about things sometimes, like Chris, I think I just really I think you're overthinking things. Yeah, I'm like, you're probably

right. How about me asking you to start the show and you're like, I don't I don't think I'm very good at starting yet, like's not very creative. Yeah, I just thought I see my pants anyway. I was like, the same thing. That's true. I should be. That's when I said, you're being very analytical, but you think you you're a thinker. We need thinkers. That's true. I'm gonna be I would choose impulsivity, the joy you get from not thinking about the outcome of your choices and

just being able to enjoy. Okay, I'm just gonna go in. You know, I'm out and about. I just need something to drink. I'm gonna get something drink. I'm gonna stop in at Cumberland Farms and get what do you get? Like a C four or a Yeah see that was a bad bang. I got a C four, which has the stuff that makes your skin tingle. I did not like that, stay away from it.

But but you said, I only choose the same blue Monster because yeah, I don't know enough about the other energy drinks, right, it's just maybe a wise the same. The ingredients list on an energy drink is off the charts exactly. So is that a good idea, that's a good taste. I'm not gonna have a whole a whole can of something that I'm not gonna like to drink the rest of this with. Yeah, yeah, it's probably not like girl'll drink it anyway, because I'm still enjoyed. I can't be

I felt like he was a super hit the superhero my childhood. So it was Batman though. You got two Dynamite cartoons, yes, spider Man cartoon. You have the Batman the animated series, which was very good. But everything about Batman is just dark. Batman is dark. Not the sixties Batman. No, that wasn't

dark. Adam West Batman. But that's the Batman nobody likes. That's true. Yeah, the Batman everybody likes. It's pretty dark. But Superman or spider Man, though there's some dark storylines, there's usually some jocularity. That's true. I did think that, Yeah, that was good. Well, he also like his he has he has a it's very evident as comics too, Like when you read this comic play, he has a sense of humor. Yeah, Batman does not have a sense of humor, that's true,

but spider Man does. Or Peter Park the game Maximum Carnage, Oh, yes, is one of the best. I forgot about that game. So good that existed for both as well. That was a game I forgot about the game. Yeah, sometimes you need but I just like I listened to all kinds of podcasts. Most of them I wanted to be funny.

But you can get into any anything you want on the podcast universe. It's true. So I'm gonna go podcasts. You can get your theology on, you can get your comedy on, you can you can listen to stories and podcast for him. That's not my thing. But I think I go podcast as much as I likes some music. I go music on a road trip. Yeah yeah, with multiple people in the car. But if I'm by myself driving, a podcast engages, you know what. That's a good

idea. That's a good point, because you're right. When I was we were driving down to South Carolina, we had music on the entire time, and that's what you need when you're driving a car. But I'm not putting a podcast on with everybody listening in. I like, that's more of like a yeah, I'm gonna listen to it myself. I want to think through. I want to Plus, the kids would probably be bored by it anyway, don't get me wrong, but although that might have helped to help them

sleep a little longer. Put a podcast on. Yeah, me a week when everybody else is asleep in the car, I'll tell us a podcast on. Yeah. No, Katie, we've listened to the lunch Break podcast before. Yeah, Katie hasn't heard the episode yet. Let let's listen to it. That's a good idea. I thought I would hate listening to us. I kind of enjoy it. It's fun, right, it's yeah, I don't listen to a lot, but I listen to it every once in a

while because I forget. I want to listen to it more. I forget the things we've said, and then they're actually funny to me because you're in the moment you don't remember what you said. I don't remember a thing about what we just talked about. This is a really tough one for me because I really it really is a mood based decision for me. Okay, so there's some days even when I'm like mowing the lawn, do I want listen

to the music? Now we're don I listen to a podcast, you know, and you I have to say, if I can't think of a podcast that strikes my interest at the time or topic of one of the podcasts I'll listen to, then I'll switch to music secondarily.
