Speaker 3

Speaker 2

Is WBZ Accuwater meteorologist Joe Lundberg continued, dry and a little easier to take outside this weekend as well. Patriot star Jabriel Peppers is due back in court today and we'll take the stand once again in Quincy District Court. The twenty nine year old testifies in his own defense on assault charges. Prosecutors say he physically assaulted a woman in his home last fall after she got a message

from another man. Peppers pleaded guilty to drug possession charges just before jury's selection began yesterday for the assault case. Celtics get blown out by the Lakers in a late night in La Bruins shout out the senators at the garden and the joke's on you. Novak Djokovic loses in the first set in the Australian Open Tennis tournament semifinal and then hangs it up, retires.

Speaker 1

You can't believe some people are brewing.

Speaker 4

Let's just dest focus and yeah, there's some people are bowing and Novak's put the thumbs up.

Speaker 1

That's the surrenders.

Speaker 2

Joker booed by the crowd. Patrick McEnroe not happy with the Australian tennis fans as well. That tournament continues on Capitol Hill. The full Senate yets set to vote on the nomination of Pete Hegseth as Defense Secretary after a confirmation committee narrowly advances his bid despite the objections of

Maine Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. The process comes despite new allegations of verbal abuse by Hegsath and now a statement from one of Hegseeth's ex wives in which he claims he still has an alcohol abuse problem. A controversial executive order to ban birthright citizenship in the United States is now placed on hold. More from Cbs'suija Jang.

Speaker 4

A federal judge in Washington State called it blatantly unconstitutional, temporarily blocking the order for two weeks as several states challenge it in court.

Speaker 1

Well, obviously we'll look the other. They put it before a certain judge in Seattle.

Speaker 5

I guess right, and there's no surprises with that judge.

Speaker 2

President Trump says his his administration will certainly appeal. It's over the work from home lifestyle that is of the federal government employee. President Trump orders directors of federal agencies to rescind the pandemic era policy by close of business today and give employees thirty days to get back to their office desks. Now, this means no more sweatpantsies, not to mention, it's causing sleepless nights for parents who need to look for childcare while adding to the workday misery

in a likely long commute. Critics say this will force many federal workers to quit, but the White House says that's kind of the point. So we started the week with a holiday, it's a four day week, and it seems like it's one of the longest weeks that we've experienced, and it's probably because of the cold as well. It is twenty two degrees here in Boston. Real field temperature stuck in the teens this morning under mainly clear skies.

It's going to be a nice day today with sunshine much of the time, like breezes too, with highs right around the freezing mark. Mainly clear, back in the teens overnight tonight, and this ultra dry weather is going to continue through the weekend as well. We'll see sunshine both tomorrow and Sunday, and on Sunday afternoon we might fit very close to forty degrees by then. Looks like the theme is going to be cold and dry into next work week as well. Right now in Boston, mainly clear,

twenty two degrees here in the city. It's six oh five on this Friday morning. Finally, the NBTA feels the need for speed. It's coming to a subway line near you, with.

Speaker 3

Speed restrictions a thing of the past, and the Red Line south of Dorchester. Agency officials now say a peak speed of fifty miles per hour could be achieved.

Speaker 1

I would love that.

Speaker 3

Quicker commute, the better commute, and things have been going more smoothly of late.

Speaker 4

They say, less time now for me.

Speaker 2

This good thing.

Speaker 4

It's faster, a little more reliable.

Speaker 3

But hitting fifty on the speedometer and even fifty five and some stretches on the orange line as the agency suggests the system was designed for. I've never seen it go that fast just because they fixed what they what was bulken.

Speaker 4

Unless they made improvements, it's not going to hit the.

Speaker 3

So you'd be afraid to go fifty miles an hour on this Chris Fom and WBZ, Boston's news radio, better watch your speed when coming up on a red light because tucked inside a sixty billion dollars state budget some cameras.

Speaker 4

Josh isn't shy about his driving habits yet.

Speaker 1

Honestly, I don't even worry about speeding in Boston.

Speaker 3

I think cops have bigger fish of fries, so they don't really worry about speeding quite as much.

Speaker 4

So as people like him that the governor wants to deter from speeding. He at least proposed a budget would allow state and local governments to install speed cameras on highways, streets, and roads.

Speaker 1

I mean, it would definitely make me slow down.

Speaker 4

If approved, Massachusetts would join nineteen other states and DC allowing the use of automated cameras to catch fast drivers. James Rojas WBZ, Boston's NewsRadio.

Speaker 2

The birds at Crescent Duck Farm are harvested and known as a delicacy with mild flavor and tender meat. The H five and one virus detected

last week. Some thirteen million birds in the US have been killed in the past month alone for this fourth generation family run farm, though a loss of all of its ducks likely means that farm is going to go out of business.
