This is WBZY, Boston's news radio, redefining local news. What is it snowing in Boston? You've got to be kidding me. It is thirty six degrees here in Boston on this Friday morning. Otherwise it is raining or snowing where you are, doesn't matter. It's April eleventh, and we've had enough. Thank you for being with us on this Friday morning. And yeah, you've got to be kidding me. Some rain to start with,

some wet snow over the interior. Later today, clouds and breaks, the sun, breezy and quite chully, the high the mid forties. That is WBZ achi weather meteorologist Joe Lundberg. I'm Jeff Brown, and the News at six is brought to us by your New England Toyota dealer, your hybrid all wheel drive headquarters. Another slug of potential snow is expected to kick off

the weekend as well. China strikes back. Global financial markets disintegrate on word that Chijingpeng, we'll see President Trump's trade war and insas tariffs on US exports to one hundred and twenty five percent, and this morning, officials in Beijing say any further levies by the United States would be seen as a joke around the world. This comes after the President raises the US taxes to one hundred and forty five percent.

Speaker 2

You know, we have to have a deal that we like. We don't want a deal that's going to be a bad deal. Or I could make every deal in one day. If I wanted to do this in all in one day, I could just say, is what we'll do.

Speaker 1

While the White House maintains dozens of other countries around the world are lining up to cut deals with the President, he also says China would love to but doesn't know how to go about it, and therefore Wall Street chaos continues. A collision on the taxiway at Reagan National Airport, outside the nation's capital, two American Airlines flights come into contact. One of the planes carries several members of Congress on their way back to New York and New Jersey this weekend.

The other flight off to South Carolina. No injuries in either plane reported. One of the crew members says he has never been involved in anything quite like this. Both planes have since been taken out of commission. It is too soon to tell this morning what caused. A touris telicopter in New York City to seemingly break apart in mid air and then splash down in the Hudson River,

killing the pilot and five travelers. Officials say Energy Technology Company executive Augustine Escobar, his wife, and three kids all died on impact. Officials have retrieved all of the victims and all of the wreckage. Witness video reveals horrific images showing the Bell Jet Ranger helicopter disintegrated in mid air and hit the water at a high rate of speed. It's six O two Bruins get blasted by some former teammates as they get slugged by Chicago at the Garden.

For the first time in ten years. The bu Terriers returned to College Hockey's Frozen four Championship tomorrow night against Western Michigan and the Red Sox around the road. Tonight, they begin a weekend series in Chicago, and lest we forget sunrise at Augusta National another pretty day coming up. As Round two of the Masters gets underway. Shortly, Busy's Drew moholland is here. Good morning, Andrew, Good.

Speaker 3

Morning, Jeffrey. I'm going to bring you some hope on this Friday morning.

Speaker 1

I'm ready here you go.

Speaker 3

Justin Rose is your Master's leader, right, but this is Justin Rose last week on the tour show.

Speaker 1

No, that is a world class shank right there, Wow, right into the woods.

Speaker 3

Last week the game was not there.

Speaker 1

I've been there.

Speaker 3

He currently leads the Masters by three after round one.

Speaker 1

Joe, I have not been there as a patron or a player, and I likely never will be.

Speaker 3

Bad golf shots happened to.

Speaker 1

Everybody, Thank you. Drew. Lawns and Greater Boston may look like a Celtics jersey this morning. It's certainly green underneath and white on top. Snow this morning and beyond it's coming down at this moment. We're also seeing some rainfall mixed in as well. So this, as you probably likely realize, is not going to amount to much. But it's just the thought of snow in April and now approaching mid April, that is getting a very old act here in the city.

Or expect to see rain throughout the day today, temperatures will only be in the mid forties. We're at thirty six right now in Boston. It is going to be a terrible kickoff to the weekend tomorrow, and it looks like we'll be dealing with windswept rain from time to time throughout. It's going to be cold too. Highs tomorrow only in the upper thirties to low forties. Really not

much better on Sunday. But wouldn't you know it, as we turn the page in a new work week, we're going to see some sunshine returning on Monday, and we shoot for sixty degrees by then. Right now, it's thirty six. Some snowflakes mixing in with the rain drops this morning, six oh five, this Friday morning. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Junior says his agency will reveal a cause of autism by September.

Speaker 4

Speaking at a cabinet meeting, the Health Secretary said, the number of kids with autism they're going up again, and so US health authorities are now conducting a large scale study to find out why.

Speaker 5

It's going to involve hundreds of scientists from around the world.

Speaker 4

He says, by September, we will know the cause. He has a law claimed without evidence that vaccines cause autism. Stacy Lynn, CBS News Washington.

President Trump spends a good chunk of his Friday at Walter Reed Medical Center Today it's time for the forty seventh president's annual physical. The seventy eight year old, the oldest president to start a second term in office, says he's never felt better. It's likely we won't know much about the results of this appointment. The White House is notorious for keeping lips zipped during his first term, while doctors claimed he was the healthiest individual ever elected to

the Oval office. Doctors do remind us, too, that medical records are privates well. He once promised two trillion dollars in savings on the campaign trail, then cut it in half. Elon Musk says DOGE is now on track to save just one hundred and fifty billion dollars of the government's money this year. The comments come during a televised cabinet meeting at the White House. Democrats have launched an effort to permanently sideline Musk from his daily role at DOGE

by the end of next month. And two great tastes that taste great together can now be yours if the price is right.

Speaker 5

If you have a sweet tooth that just won't quit, or hankering for something fried and oil, it's the best of both worlds.

Speaker 6

See maple bacon with the bacon jam just like does something. It's not overly sweet savory, it's cheesy. Oh, it was really really yummy.

Speaker 5

That's Crystal Lia trenta operations manager for Union Square Donuts. She says Boston Burger Company came to them with an idea to combine donuts and burgers.

Speaker 6

And they really wanted to do a concept that was all smash burgers, like keeping it simple, giving people what they love, and they approached us because we had some extra space in our Brookline location.

Speaker 5

The Smashed Up burgers include a maple bacon Donuts smash and a hot honey glazed chicken sandwich. So imagine a chicken sandwich, but instead of on a bun, it's on a donut.

Speaker 6

This will be here for at least the month, maybe longer.

Speaker 5

I'm a Friedman, WBZ Boston's News Radio.
