A beautiful sunny sky and fifty three degrees in the city at eleven o'clock. It's Tuesday, November nineteenth. I'm Sherry Small. Thanks for being with us. Here's what's happening. Striking teachers are taking their fight from the North Shore to the State House. In just about fifteen minutes, Marblehead, Beverly, and Gloucester will hold a rally on the State House steps.

Their strike now in its second week. Negotiations with school committees in each districts are stalled on several sticking points. Some include paid parental leave and also paraprofessionals salaries. Now, the Beverly School Committee says if the strike there doesn't end soon, they may have to cancel spring vacation. The Gloucester School committee says mis days will be added to the end of their school year to Revere, where teachers

and the school committee strike a deal. After a marathon bargaining session held last night, lasting more than seven hours, a tentative deal was struck just after midnight. The new deal offers wage increases, paid parental and family leave, school safety reforms, and agreements on other issues Revere educators they have been working one hundred and twenty days without a contract.

Firefighter is battling a brush blaze in the Blue Hills Reservation in Milton, and WBC S James Rojas says this comes as much of the state as dealing with red flag warnings.

A dozen counties in the Commonwealth are at high risk of wildfires, including Norfolk County. That is evident here at Blue Hills Reservation, where conditions are very dry and firefighters are busy keeping a forty plus acre brush fire under control.

The sworn police officer in Massachusetts is required to do forty hours of training a year, much of it online through a portal called acatus. But WBZ obtained this letter sent to every police chief in the state. It says the Municipal Police Training Committee, or MPTC, found officers skirting

the system. The letter states, quote, we have discovered instances where trainings that should take hours to complete are finish in a matter of minutes using techniques that override controls meant to prevent fast forwarding through the training sources tel WBZ. As of last week, EMPTC identified seventy officers in eleven departments who had bypassed a CAADUS training. EMPTC is now shut down the ACATUS portal while it investigates requiring all training to be in person.

And the updated trainings for the police officers. They can contain anything from new laws and guidelines to CPR training. Abington Police chief meanwhile wants a former police officer with his department meant desertified amid fallout from the Sandra Birchmore case. This according to the Broughton Enterprise. Ex police officer Joshua Heel resigned from Abington Police back in twenty twenty three. Desertification would mean that he would be prohibited from working

in law enforcement. Three Stoton police officers are accused of grooming Sandra Birchmore for sex when she was a minor. One is accused of staging her alleged twenty twenty one murder to look like a suicide. Heel's attorney claims that his client was initially wrongfully implicated. Heel was dropped from the case.
