Speaker 2

This is w b Z, Boston's news radio, redefining local news.

Speaker 3

Good Thursday morning. It's mild and we're seeing some showers fifty vibe degrees in downtown Boston. I'm Laurie Kirby. We begin in Washington, where the House of Representatives has just voted to censure Democratic Texas Congressman Al Green. Green was removed from President Trump's address to Congress Tuesday night for shouting to the president. House Speaker Mike Johnson told Green to sit down, but he refused. Today's censure resolution officially

documents the House's deep disapproval of Green's conduct. It was approved in a mostly party line vote, and President Trump tees up the new executive ordered, this one targeting the entire Department of Education. Wldbz's James Rojas.

Speaker 1

Reports dismantling the Department of Education from within. That's reportedly the direct from an executive order that the President is expected to sign soon.

Speaker 3

Not a great idea.

Speaker 4

The Department ARAD was created for a reason and it really should stay that way.

Speaker 2

It's very scary and alarming, especially for students with disabilities.

Speaker 1

That'spressa led.

Speaker 3

My daughter would never have graduate at high school. I don't want their education to meet the minutes planning means. But at the same time, it's like appears the people voted for it.

Speaker 1

It takes an Act of Congress to abolish the department, but the executive order is expected to direct the new Secretary of Education to take steps to close it. At Logan James Rojas WBZ Boston's News Radio and the Jobs Market.

Speaker 3

Weekly unemployment claims drop nationwide. ABC's Jim Ryan has that my.

Speaker 4

Two thousand first time claims for unemployment benefits were filed in the week leading up to February twenty second. In the week after that, according to the Labor Department, filings declined by an almost identical twenty one thousand. Tomorrow we get the employment report for all of February. It's expected to show that one hundred and seventy thousand jobs were created last month.

Speaker 3

And we are getting an ap alert out of Washington, where President Trump's Commerce secretary has just indicated that the US tariffs slapped on our trading partners Canada and Mexico are likely delayed for months on most goods and services. Again, earlier today, we're hearing from the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau saying he expects a trade war to last for

the foreseeable future. With the US Wall Street reaction coming up, and we have an update on the Boyleston manhunt has started with a shooting at a home on Central Street around this time yesterday. Authorities now say police shot and killed someone, but it's unclear if it's the same shooting, and the Wooster County DA has not said how the officer was involved her who was killed. Again, We've reached

out to the Wooster DA for comment. Mostly cloudy throughout the day, breezy, mild, with showers, just a couple How hot, well, how mild, I should say, not quite hot. Fifty eight degrees are high. We're in the load of mid fifties out there right now. Then we flip that switch. Two things. One wind advisory is starting at seven o'clock tonight, so we have some very very blustery weather moving in and it's going to be very cold. We're going to feel like we're still in the winter season, which we are.

Load tonight, you're thirty in Boston, some of you will be in the teens again tomorrow forty five. Real feel much colder during the day and that looks like we're in the mid to low forties for both Saturday and Sunday. We spring forward this weekend as well as promised, Boston Calling is making some changes to the experience, and wbz's Drew Mholland has that.

Speaker 5

Pins of spring all over the map right in Boston Calling Memorial Day weekend. It's going to be here before we know it. Loopcomb's Fallout Boy, Dave Matthews Band, the Big three headliners each night. And now Boston Calling is announcing a partnership with Berkeley College of Music. The goal will be to showcase student performances, and they do so in the festival's indoor arena.

Speaker 3

Not only will you get the chance.

Speaker 5

To watch some fantastic young jazz musicians, but this also offers a comfortable retreat and can get out of the heat, grab a drink, whatever. And as you probably know, Berkeley students and alumni tend to be a big part of Boston Calling anyway. Look, God Kieran Rhoades rocked the place last year and this is a bit of a throwback. Boston Callings indoor arena used to be used all the time. You might remember a film festival hosted by Natalie Portman.

So this is pretty cool. Boston Calling and Berkeley College of Music a new partnership taken center stage Memorial Day Weekend. Drew moholland W Busy, Boston's news radio.

The Town of fox Brows feeds up construction on a new training facility for the Patriots. Fox Rows My laws typically let construction crews work from seven in the morning until seven at night. The select Board recently decided that until August, cruise will be able to start earlier than seven am and work until eleven o'clock at night. Board members tell the Sun chronicled the changel will help get

the building done sooner rather than later. No word on the impact on sleep that new facility opening next spring. Speaker 3

They will be paying for all of your prom tickets.

Speaker 2

That was the reaction to John Muir High School.

Speaker 3

It's a pretty good deal.

Speaker 2

Alice's kids will pay a total of one hundred and seventy five thousand dollars for the tickets.

Speaker 5

Have fun, enjoy the prom, and remember this is Steve Carell.

Speaker 2

Every prom needs a balloon smack dab in the middle of Times Square a massive kurvy likeness of Kim Kardashian lying down in a bright blue skims bikini celebrate her new shapewear store blocks away on Fifth Avenue. Some social media followers say it's beyond weird and sets an unrealistic representation of women's bodies. Others complement the Reality Stars marketing team. Kardashian herself posted in a now expired Instagram story, OMG, I cannot believe there's a sixty foot float of me

in skim swim in Times Square. Deborah Rodriguez, CBS News.
