Speaker 1

This is WBZY, Boston's news radio, redefining local news.

Speaker 2

It's only eleven o'clock. We're all ready up to eighty degrees in Boston, partly Sonny, Hello, and thanks for being with us on this Juneteenth holiday. I'm Sherry Small. Here's what's happening, all right. We start this hour in Beverly where one person is dead, another is heard after a small plane crash this morning on Sam Bonzo Drive. WBC's Mike Macklin is on the scene.

Speaker 3

It happened just before at nine o'clock this morning. The plane, a single engine aircraft, went down shortly after takeoff from Beverly Airport. Beverly Police Chief John L. Lasher I think a single.

Speaker 4

Engine airplane was on takeoff in Beverly Airport for unknown reason. This time it came down and struck Samponzo Drive here in Beverly. DNTSP is a root to the scene right now, so we've been here until their arrival. We really have no further information now than there was one already deceased in the plane. One party transport to Beverly Hospital in brintal condition.

Speaker 3

No one on the ground was hurt. The plane coming down in an industrial park that on this holiday is quiet in Beverly. Mike Macklum WBZ, Boston's news Radio.

Speaker 2

Karen Reid's second murder trial is now in the books, read only convicted on her OUI charge and sentenced to one year probation. WBCJ will let checking in with the Deadham community now that it's all over.

Speaker 4

Because of the data employees to stake, police and the DPW here everything was handled beautifully. Really didn't bother me at all, and I live very close to the courthouse.

Speaker 1

Those who live near Norfolk Superior Court tell me they're glad Karen Reid's trial is finished. Here in Denham.

Speaker 5

We are sort of glad that it's over. We are beginning to get a little fatigued.

Speaker 6

It was like a good bet read and I'm glad it came.

Speaker 5

Out like it did. It's just been very busy. I'm glad for the businesses and the lunches that are ordered and the thriving economy that have been half has been happening because of the trial, but the overall amount of people in this small area, it's very congested.

Speaker 1

Beyond that, though outside the courthouse there's nothing but pink confetti left behind the uproar Karen Reid supporters launched when the verdict was read. Now it's peace and quiet here on High Street, apart from the occasional dogwalker in Detum Jaywillett WBZ Boston's news radio.

Speaker 2

The Israeli military says Iran used a missile with multiple warheads in an attack today, as both sides continue to launch strikes against each other.

Speaker 7

Both countries launched more strikes overnight. Iran State TV confirmed that Israel hit a heavy water reactor used in nuclear production. Israel says a medical building was hit by an Iranian missile yesterday. Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyaho vowed to win in the end. Iran Supreme Leader said his nation will not surrender, and he threatened irreparable damage if the US

gets involved. American officials say Iran has prepared to retaliate with strikes on American bases in the Middle East.

Speaker 2

CBS is Jared Hill reporting there. Now, let's check the weather. It's hot and humid today. We're going to see highs reaching ninety four, between ninety and ninety four degrees for the cape in the Islands. Much cooler mid seventies to low eighties, a mix of sun and clouds again humid, thunderstorm in some spots late this afternoon Tonight, partly cloudy. It's going to remain warm breezy as well, but only

reaching a low near seventy. Friday, mostly sunny, breezy, still warm, but much less humid, a high of eighty five Saturday. All right, we finally start our weekend off on a Saturday that's dry. We'll see a mix of sun and clouds, though it's going to be warm a bit more humid on Saturday, highs eighty three to eighty seven, and then very warm and humid on Sunday. We could see highs bumping to near ninety, clouds in sunshine, cooler of course

on the Cape in the Islands. In Boston. Right now it is eighty degrees, mostly sunny, partly sonny in Boston at eleven oh five. The Federal Reserve is keeping interest rates where they are, and President Trump, well not happy about it.

Speaker 5

I know what I'm doing.

Speaker 3

So we have a stupid person, frankly at the Fed.

Speaker 8

Despite presidential pressure and insults, Fed Reserve Chairman Jerome Pals leaving interest rates right where they are our job.

Speaker 6

Is to make sure One of our job is to make sure that a one time increase in inflation doesn't turn into an inflation problem.

Speaker 8

The FED indicating there will be two rate cuts later this year and expect economic growth to slow by one point four percent this year.

Speaker 2

And the Fed also predicts a slight increase in unemployment. A powerful hurricane makes landfall on Mexico's Pacific coast. Here's ABC's Jim Ryan with the latest.

Speaker 6

Add just a day and a half, Tropical Storm Aer intensified to category four hurricane status with top sustained winds of one hundred and twenty five miles per hour. It dipped back down to category three strength before making landfall this morning southeast of acap Ullo. The forecast is for up to fifteen inches of rain along Eric's path.

Speaker 2

That storm system is expected to dissipate later today or early tomorrow. The Tampa Bay Rays are going up for sale, and the team's current owner confirmed yesterday that a buyer has already emerged.

Speaker 9

Since Hurricane Milton tour through Tropicana Field in Saint Pete last fall, the Ray's future has been up in the air.

Speaker 8

We're going to do what's.

Speaker 1

Best for baseball, for this this franchise, and I'm opening.

Speaker 9

Talent put with that. Owner Stu Sternberg pulled out of a deal to build a billion dollar ballpark in Saint Pete and relationships with leaders in Penela's county soured to the point of no return.

Speaker 2

And that CBS is Aaron Parsigen reporting there a group led by Florida real estate developers is in talks to buy the team for about one point seven billion.
