Sim Nicole Davis, Thanks for joining us. Here is what's happening. We start this hour on the banks of the Charles River, where preparation preparations are underway for the annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular tomorrow night. Part of Sturo Drive is already

closed off. We'll talk about that coming up in traffic on the threes, but it's also worth noting that tomorrow's event will take place under a different schedule than usual. If you're wbz's Jeremy Russe the.

Again we're going to keep an eye on those closures in traffic and weather. Together will take a look coming up next in about two minutes. Over to Capitol Hill, where the House Minority leader has been holding the floor for six hours and counting. Congressman Hakim Jeffries using a tactic here to try to delay a final vote on the President's massive budget bill is after overnight Republican holdouts allowed it to proceed.

Speaker 4

I feel the obligation, mister Speaker, to stand on this House floor and take my sweet time to tell the stories of the American people. And that's exactly what I intend to do. Take my sweet time on behalf of the American people on behalf of their healthcare, on behalf of their Medicaid, on, behalf of their new tres No assistance, on, behalf of veterans, on, behalf of farmers, on, behalf of children, on behalf of seniors.

Speaker 2

Now, House Speaker Mike Johnson can only afford to lose three votes to get this bill passed. President Trump wants that bill on his desk. Note later than tomorrow. The final vote is set to take place at any point. Will update you as it all plays out on WBZ. And we're learning more this morning about a confrontation that played out between two Northendover police officers as one of

them was served a restraining order. According to The Globe, that order came from the fiance of officer Kelly Fitzsimmons, who says he was concerned about the safety of their infant son. In the order, he mentioned fitz Simmons hurt herself repeatedly while she was pregnant and threatened to kill both herself and the baby once he was born. She'd also been hospitalized for postpartum depression soon after the birth.

The fiance is a North Endover firefighter. He also mentioned in that order that recently, while they were in Maine, Fitzsimmons had assaulted him. It's still not exactly clear how it all played out, but say a quote armed confrontation took place while she was being served. That Simmons is in stable condition at a hospital in Boston and for the weekend. We are looking phenomenal, but we do have to get through the rest of the day today and it will be a very kind of an uneven, volatile,

sort of stormy day that we're looking forward to. We're already seeing some storms and parts of western Massachusetts those are developing right now and coming along Brute too, and also in parts of southern Vermont. Later on today we will see more of these storms popping up in places like southern New Hampshire and also getting into central and eastern Massachusetts. High is today just about ninety, but with the humidity, it will feel like the mid to upper nineties,

cooler on the capin islands. Once the storms move out tonight, the humidity will start to break. We have a low near sixty five or so in Boston, upper fifties if you're north and west tomorrow for the fourth gorgeous beautiful barbecue weather or beach day. High in the mid eighties, close to eighty on the capin islands, and humidity is going to be very low Saturday and say mix of

sun and clouds both days. On Saturday we have a high in the mid eighties and on Sunday high near ninety right now eighty two in Lemonster, right now seventy nine on the beach in Gloucester, eighty four in Taunton, and in Boston at eleven oh five it is partly cloudy, eighty five degrees and it feels like ninety one. W bz's James Rojas is at the beach today checking in before the crowd show up.
