It's forty degrees with sunshine at least for now in Boston at eleven o'clock. Good Thursday Morning, on Madison Rodgers, and here's what's happening. New data shows inflation has cooled down, but there is an asterisk. Here's ABC's Brian Clark.

Consumer prices increase by two point four percent in March compared to a year ago. That's a cool damp. Economists projected a two point six percent increase, but this data was collected before President Trump's tariff escalation. Economists say tariffs could leave inflation high. The two point four percent reading is still above the federal reserves two percent target.

Economists say the lower inflation was driven by plunging gas prices down six point three percent in March. Massachusetts, though has not seen that kind of drop. President Trump hitting pause on what the White House calls its reciprocal tariffs. Those ten percent tariffs on all imports do remain in place, though rates on Chinese imports have been pushed to one hundred and twenty five percent. ABC's Mary Bruce.

That uncertainty trickling down to small business owners like Chris Farley. He owns five running apparel stores in the DC area. All of his stock, from shoes to clothing, produced overseas. We were with him when news of the President's decision broke. The President appears just announced that he is pausing these tariffs and lowering them.

Uh, this is you know, this is the world we're in now. What I was hoping for is some predictability of life and work. And this is just so challenging that that's great news. Maybe I should react that that's great news, but what does that mean for tomorrow?

Massachusett's Governor Morihely also called for predictability yesterday, holding a press conference alongside local business leaders. The EU also says that it will hold off on counter measures.

European Union officials of Jessa the EU will put its retaliation measures on hold four ninety days to match President Trump's tariff's pause. The hope is this Buy's time and room for a negotiated solution with Washington. It puts on hold twenty three billion dollars worth of EU duties on a range of US made products, including tobacco, motorcycles, poultry, steel, and aluminum. Vicky Barker, CBS News, London.

Now, despite all this positive news, we've also seen another day of serious value drop or rather rates falling on Wall Street. We'll have the latest on that, with Bloomberg business coming up in less than ten minutes, opening statements and Karen Reid's second murder trial more likely right around the corner. Just one more juror needed. It is day eight of jury selection in Dedham. So far the prosecution

and defense have selected fifteen jurors. It comes as Reid's defense argues the first jury had actually agreed to acquit Read on two charges, and as the Supreme Court says it will, they will not delay the retrial. They are on track for opening statements on Tuesday, and we'll continue to follow the latest right here on WBZ News Radio

and on the iHeartRadio app. In the four day forecast, we'll see sunshine followed by increasing clouds this afternoon, also getting breezier out there and Boston the high is around forty eight degrees. It'll be warmer Inland. It's a night's cloudy with a bit of rain later. In Boston the low's around thirty seven, but in cooler spots north and west of the city. You could see that rain mixing in with a little wet snow, some rain or drizzle

at times on Friday. Otherwise it's cloudy and breezy with a high around forty five near forty on Saturday, with clouds, some rain and drizzle much of the day. Just periods of rain and drizzle on Sunday with temps in the mid forties. So that's improvement over the first half of our weekend. I suppose it will be noticeably milder with some sun returning on Monday. Look forward to that. Right now in Boston and it is forty degrees and Sonny at eleven oh five. Round one of the Masters is

underway right now down in Augusta. That believe z's Jim McKay says, for many local golfers, this is a springtime right of passage.

A ballerina is on a plane heading home home to the US right now after a prisoner swap between the US and Russia.

Senya Carolina is a US Russian jewel national who was serving twelve years in a Russian penal colony. Her crime donating less than one hundred dollars to a Ukrainian charity. Well, this morning, she is free, exchanged in Abu Dhabi in a prisoner swap arranged by the United States Secative State. Rubio tweeted that she is on her way home, and he credited President Trump for her release.

ABC's James Longman reports CIA director John Radcliffe, saying Russia wrongfully detained Carolina. As part of the swap, the US released a German Russian national being held on allegations of exporting sensitive microelectronics. An investigations underway after a student was stabbed outside of Brockton Middle School yesterday afternoon. Police say the student is expected to recover after getting stabbed during a fight outside the Pluf Middle School. Police say one

person has been detained. The varsity cheerleading coach at Quincy High has been fired now following an investigation into claims she supplied students with alcohol and marijuana. Amy Jay has been on paid leave since late January. A statement from the superintendent obtained by the Patriot Ledger says that Quincy Public Schools made a decision to terminate the office prayer,

paraprofessional and cheerleading coach. Police had been looking into the allegations as well, and that potential criminal investigation is ongoing. A shark attack victim wants a new alert system to warn others to stay out of the water.

Sixteen year old Lulu Griffin of Alabama lost a hand and part of a leg when she was attacked off the Florida Panhandle last June. Yesterday, she convinced an Alabama House committee to approve a bill that would set up an amber alert type system telling people when there's been a shark attack nearby, so they notice stay out of the water.
