Sunny in forty seven degrees in Boston at eleven o'clock. Good Sunday morning. Thanks for being with us. I'm Sherry Small. Here's what's happening. Are a more seasonable weather today, but fire concerns remain. A red flag warning is still an effect until sixth this evening for the high fire risk.

Speaker 3

Good AUGUSTI wins, very low humidity and continue very dry conditions.

Speaker 2

And that's thatch you weather meteorologist Joe Lundberg. The full forecast coming up in three teachers in Beverly among several Massachusetts communities hitting the picket lines. Here's WBZTV's Beth Germano with details. Well, do whatever it takes. We'll bargain around the clock.

Speaker 3

But the fact of the matter is we have to fix them.

Speaker 1

And the fix for these teachers is smaller class sizes, paid parental leave, better pay, particularly for para professionals who say they work several jobs to make ends meet.

Speaker 3

I work weekends, I miss sporting events for my children because I'm working on the weekends to supplement my income.

Speaker 2

How many jobs are you working?

Speaker 1

In addition to this, are two other jobs.

Speaker 4

You can survive on this spay, and you can even live in Beverly, so it's just not easy at all.

Speaker 1

But the city says it's offering educators more than twenty four million dollars in new money over the next three years and now have a court order in hand to force teachers back into the classroom next Tuesday.

Speaker 4

The school committee has been negotiating in good faith.

Speaker 3

Our most recent offers would raise salaries by at least thirteen point four percent for teachers.

Speaker 2

And meanwhile, Beverly teachers rallying yesterday with Gloucester teachers who are voicing similar demands, and teachers in Marblehead also authorizing a strike after Veterans Day that would begin on Tuesday. The Marblehead Education Associations it's ninety nine percent of its members voted to stay off the job after the holiday weekend. A pay raise, say for work working conditions in a

modern parental leave system among the demands. Officials insisting the district had bargained in good faith during a school committee meeting last night. State law prohibits public employees from striking. Stop and Chop says it's listening to its customers and has ended charging for paperbags. The grocery chain issuing a statement saying a ten cent bag fee was dropped in most Massachusetts stores last month. They still are in place in stores located in cities and towns pushing for more

sustainable shopping. A similar move was made last month in Rhode Island as well. And now the four DAWBC ach you weather forecast. We do have a red flag warning that's in effect until six o'clock to night for higher risk fire risks. That is, that's due to the winds, low humidity, those very dry conditions that continue. As far as what we're going to see whether why sunshine, it'll be a chili blustery, a hive just fifty two, so

winds are going to die down this evening. We'll just see a clear but cold overnight with a low of thirty six in the city for those inland suburbs, much colder twenty five to about thirty degrees tomorrow, sunshine and then followed by some clouds, a high a little warmer but still seasonable fifty eight degrees tomorrow night, some showers, fairly mild, a low of just fifty two, So that's leading us into Monday, with a high of sixty eight degrees.

Monday is Veterans Day, so if you have the day off, you know, a hole tight in the morning. It looks like there might be a couple of showers around, but then those clouds will break for some afternoon sunshine to enjoy your day off. If you have the holiday off Tuesday, as we head back to work, it's going to be much colder. We will see some sunshine, but despite that, we'll just see a high of forty seven degrees or excuse me, fifty two degrees. It's forty seven degrees right

now in Boston. It's eleven oh five on this Saturday.

Speaker 1

All right.

Speaker 2
