Good Saturday morning. Is Chile out there. We have mostly sunny skies, but a chilly twenty eight degrees in Boston. The real field temp in the teens. Hello and thanks for being with us. I'm Sherry Small. Here's what's happening. A Rhode Island man is arrested after police say he body slammed a woman in an apparent case of road rage. This happening yesterday morning at the intersection of Route one and one A in Attleborough. We get details from CBS News Boston's Timmy Mutassa.

Speaker 3

And by the time I was realizing, I was in the air and I thought to myself, like I might die right now.

Speaker 2

The road rage attack was so violent.

Speaker 4

Hailey Sores says it's a wonder she's home from the hospital this morning. Police say a man is seen on cell phone video snatching the petite mom of two young kids out of her car, picking her up, then and slamming her head first on the ground.

Speaker 3

It was like a weird sensation I felt on my face and that's when I realized I was on the ground and I rolled over and there was blood dripping all over my hands, and pictures showed the brutal aftermath.

Speaker 4

Haley suffered a very serious injury to her skull and eye socket.

Speaker 2

Her knee and foot are broken. She says she couldn't move them.

Speaker 3

All I could think was I'm probably not ever gonna be able to walk again. I can't even tend to my kids. I can't even walk up a staircase. I can't put my own sock on my foot.

The Rhode Island man facing charges of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, malicious destruction of property, and operating a motor vehicle without a license. Somerville police say that they've arrested a suspect in several break ins throughout the city. Last night, a resident on Cherry Street called nine one one after they allegedly found a person in their basement. Officers responded and arrested Fabio Armelio without incident.

Somerville police say that he was a person of interest in a dozen break ins near the Tufts University campus at has now been identified as a suspect in three of them. He also has twenty outstanding warrants throughout Boston. Cambridge Somerville and Lawrence, with charges ranging from theft to assault. He's set to be arraigned in Somerville District Court on Monday. A week of funeral services for former President Jimmy Carter

begins today. Crowds expected at the Carter Center in Atlanta to say farewell to America's oldest president, who died last Sunday at the age of one hundred. ABC's Faith of Bubay reports from Carter's hometown of Plains, Georgia.

Speaker 5

A national service at Washington's National Cathedral planned for Thursday, before his remains are flown back to his Georgia hometown for private burial. At the national service, his longtime friend President Joe Biden will deliver a eulogy. President Elect Trump also expected to attend. President Carter will ultimately be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Roslyne in Plans. He once called her his secret weapon. over a year ago. Faith Aboubay ABC News Plans, Georgia.

And now let's check the ACU weather forecast. We're seeing another chilly day today, and that's going to be the case. At least for the next several days, a mix of sun and clouds, but highs near thirty three degrees and real field tempts are going to stick in the teens. That's because of that breeze that we're feeling. Partly cloudy Tonight, it's going to be another brisk night, dropping to twenty six Tomorrow again, highs near thirty three. Pretty much the

same deal, partly sunny, breezy, and cold. Monday remaining cold with a mix of sun and clouds. Again, highs not far from thirty. But we do have the ACI Weather meteorologists continuing to track a storm that should pass well south of our area on Monday. That's if the storm stays on its current expected track, it should remain dry, but again we'll continue to watch that. Tuesday windy, cold with a mix of sun and clouds, but high's only

near freezing Right now. As we check the region along the Cape, we are seeing some snow flurries clipping parts of the Cape. Looks like Provincetown right now getting clipped

just a bit, well Fleet as well. Otherwise the rest just dealing with temperatures anywhere from twenty eight to thirty degrees Plymouth seeing thirty degrees, Quincy twenty nine up on the north shore, twenty six in Gloucester, Newton twenty nine degrees, Framingham twenty seven to twenty three in Worcester and in the city right now mostly sunny skies, but Chili we have twenty eight degrees. In the real field temp is fifteen.

It's eleven oh six. In just a few weeks there will be a new store opening in Summerville, specially made for rock climbers.

Speaker 6

It's not a sport like basketball, where you grab a ball and some shoes and you're ready to go. The equipment has very specific needs to keep you safe while you're scaling rocks and climbing new heights. But that doesn't make it easy to shop local.

Speaker 7

The closest thing you've got is either retail shops within gyms that some have some don't, or a place like Arii or one of the big box retailers.

Speaker 6

And that's exactly why colin mannivil is opening up some abound Outfitter and Union Square so climbers have a full selection of specialty shoes and gear that fits their needs.

Speaker 7

Our goal is to have a great selection and employees that really know the market and the details of how that product works for the individual.

Speaker 6

He says having the staff knowing their stuff is super important. Like Ryan, the assistant manager, who's also an outdoor climbing and rope instructor.

Speaker 7

We want our store to be a place where people can come get products, get the tools that they need, but also get the information that they need.

The new District Attorney in Los Angeles is deciding if he will support efforts to release the Menentez brothers. We've been serving time for decades for killing their parents in nineteen eighty nine.

Speaker 1

County DA Nathan Hawkman says he spent hours meeting with all of the Menendez family members who wanted to give their views on the release of the brothers. The family members are pushing for their release, Hawkman saying after the meeting.

Speaker 5

Who is a in some ways an informal, off the record discussion where I invited them to tell me anything they wanted to tell me.

Speaker 1

He says he has not made a decision on how the La County DA's office will move forward on the Menendez brothers under his new leadership, alec Stone ab Snows, Los Angeles.

Speaker 2

The Biden Administration has found that formaldehyde presents an unreasonable risk to humans and should be regulated. The EPA says that the chemical is found nearly everywhere and that people are routinely exposed to it both indoors and outdoors. Long term exposure to the substance can cause cancer, asthma and also reduce lung function. The EPA says it will propose a rule to protect workers and consumers from the risks

of formaldehyde. You are now in the loop. For news updates throughout the day, listen to WBZ News Radio on the iHeartRadio app. I'm Sherry Small, WBZ, Boston's news radio
