This is Debzy in Boston's news radio, redefining local news.
Chili but sunny, twenty nine degrees in Boston at eleven o'clock on this Saturday. Hello, I'm Sherry Small, Thanks for being with us. Here's what's happening. Winter now just officially one week away. Mostly sunny for today, still on cold side.
We'll top out in the low and mid thirties, mostly clear tonight down to twenty two.
And that's ach you, Weather meteorologist John Ferick. The full fourcasts coming up in three. It's been going on in the New York area since last month. Now it's starting to happen here in Massachusetts. CBS News Boston's Logan Hall has more on mysterious objects seen in the night sky from.
New Jersey to New York and now Cape cod Several reports of swarms of large strones cruising the skies. Look up in the sky over here, What did that look like to you?
She's like, that's not a plane.
That's weird.
I know. I wonder if it's one of those drones that we keep seeing on TV and social media. From New York, New Jersey.
Harwich local Alex says he witnessed this phenomenon. I woke up this morning to the posts of everybody saying, look at there's drones on Cape Conn. I'm like, now, I know it was a drone. I'm not crazy. And Alex wasn't the only person on the Cape to see something in the night sky. Harwich Chief of Police Ken Considine says his department documented a report and passed it along to state and federal law enforcement agencies. He says a
police officer even saw them in the sky. One of my officers also saw a couple type drones over near our station, in the vicinity of our station, and they were reported as bright white, couldn't hear anything.
But similar drone sightings were also reported in Marshfields, Well Sidings of drones along the East Coast, along with conspiracy theories being heard everywhere. In CBS News New York's Christine Sloane has the latest on the drone which is now gone missing.
Hillsborough, New Jersey residence on edge after reports of a down drone.
We're very curious and we'd like to find out where they're coming from and what they're doing.
But after an extensive search, nothing to be found, leaving residents with many questions.
I see them by my house.
I think they're something the government knows.
I think somebody knows something. The Congressman Josh Gottheimer says he got a briefing on the mystery drones that some say are the size of small cars. He says the public has the right to know what he's been told.
I'm just totally ridiculous that we don't have more information.
And Gotttheimer also said that based on the information and the briefings that he's received, he's not concerned about imminent threats to public safety or national security. All right to sports. In a rematch of the twenty eleven Stanley Cup Finals, the Ruins face off against the Canucks in Vancouver. Puck drops at ten pm. Celtics off to our nation's capital for a game against the Wizards. Tomorrow's Sunday night tip
off at six o'clock. The Patriots on the road this weekend as well for twenty five kickoff Sunday against the Cardinals in Arizona. And it's the Army Navy game outside Washington, d C. At three pm today. And now let's check the weather. It is a chili one out there today, but plenty of sunshine. Highs will only reach about thirty four degrees. Clear skies tonight, the cold a low of twenty two tomorrow, much like today, cold again, some get sun giving way to clouds, but just to high of
thirty five. We start to warm things up on Monday, like ten degrees warmer. It'll be milder, more clouds, even some rain in the afternoon and at night. That could start out as a wintry mix if you're in areas north and northwest of four ninety five. But the high on Monday forty three degrees and listen to this, even ten degrees warmer on Tuesday, a high in the mid to high fifties. We will start out with some morning rain, but then Klaus will break forth some sunshine. It'll be
breezy and mile twenty nine degrees right alan sunny. In Boston, it's eleven oh five on this Saturday. Cruz got the water back on last night after yesterday's water main break on Boylston Street. CBS News Boston's Tammy Moutassa has details.
Yeah, it was shocking.
The break left businesses like Secu Salon with no water.
The amount of water that came flooding on the streets was a little bit scary because it started coming over the sidewalks and then when the sinkholes started happening, people were.
Just running to the window to see it.
Boston Water and Sewer Cruse had to shut down the damage made to contain the leak. We have nothing leaving the salon to get creative to somewhat keep running, heating up buckets of water to wash hair, but other appointments canceled.
By canceling our afternoon, we don't really have anywhere to put those people to reschedule them because it's just incredibly busy. So it's a loss of revenue, it's upsetting.
The clients, and what's the blame for the break is still under investigation.
And at last word, water service has been restored, but repairs continue on the one hundred year old water main. The searche continuing for a suspect after a police officer in Saint Johnsbury, Vermont, is shot. The victim among the officers responding to a report of domestic violence yesterday afternoon at an apartment on Portland Street. The officer was taken by medical helicopter to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon,
New Hampshire. The extent of his injuries was not immediately known. The suspect is identified as thirty eight year old Scott Mason and is considered armed and dangerous. He's described as five feet eleven inches tall, weighed two hundred and twenty pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. A two alarm fire yesterday afternoon in Plainville at a single family home on School Street. Firefighters arriving to find a man in a wheelchair who was unable to escape. He was pronounced dead
at the scene. The fire quickly extinguished. No one else was injured. A preliminary investigation indicates that the fire was accidental. Scams are everywhere these days, well. One of the latest revolves around that package you might be waiting for.
One of the most prevalent scams as holiday season involves text messages made to look like they're coming from delivery services such as the US Postal Service.
People are reporting that they're receiving text messages claiming to be from the Postal Service that a package is delayed at a warehouse and they need to give a little bit more information.
Melanie mcgoverin spokesperson for the Better Business Bureau, says they're clearly phishing texts hoping you'll fall forward, hook line and sinker.
We're telling everybody to avoid clicking on any links. Check with the retailer where you purchased an item if you are waiting for something, to see how they're shipping.
That product, and the address bar is a dead giveaway when it comes to scams.
You really want to closely look at where it's coming from before you click on anything.
