Yes, this is WBZY, Boston's news radio redefining local news. Forty five party Sunny Boston. It's eleven o'clock this Monday morning. Good morning, I'm Laurie Kirby and topping our news bunch of coastal Massachusetts. Woke up this morning to the smoky scent of brushfire. Wbz's Drowm Holland tells us it's all thanks to blazes and Salem and elsewhere.

Local brushfires and firefighters and Salem have their hands full.

Most of it is contained in the areas that have already burned out.

That's chief Alan Dieon smoke up and down the shoreline today. The smell of smoke has been jarring the WBZ newsroom included. We've been stopped in our tracks a few times smelling it all here. Same day for one of our editors, b Aldrich, she says she had an unpleasant wake up in Brighton. It was so pungent, so strong, that I actually thought that my house was on fire until I realized what it was.

Even driving into work, you could see like this layer of hayes.

We've been getting all sorts of calls from people with similar stories. Today. The sky still has that smoky, hazy look to it, and it could linger for a while too. Firefighters say lots of smoldering Drew maholl and WBZ, Boston's news radio, and a lot of.

Towns too, too many to mention, you know, from Beverly to Canton, and one turned deadly in Millbury, where a fire at a homeless encampment claimed the life of an adult woman. Her name has not been released. The state Fire Marshal says the fire originated at her site. Of course, the entire state and New Hampshire have been under a red flag warning for many, many days, and I've been mentioning any spark could easily ignite and spread flames quickly.

I think they're getting a break with the winds today. Those are finally scaling back a little bit. So the entertainment at former President Trump's rally in New York last night might come back to bite the campaign. Comedian Tony Hinchcliff made a questionable joke about porttery. Puerto Ricans are considered a key voter block this election season every election season. ABC's Rachel Scott is.

More Democrats seizing on this as that Trump rally got underway Harris was visiting a Puerto Rican restaurant, hosting this message to social media.

Charlie, who was named the highest earning TikToker in twenty twenty one when she was just eighteen, is set to star on Broadway in the musical and Juliet, and her sister Dixie Some Some has more than an one hundred and million plays on Spotify thanks to this track, Be Happy. South Shore Hospital in Weymouth puts a high dollar donation toward expanding its short state wing. The West unit is reserved for anybody who needs inpatient care while they recover from surgery or battle of brief illness, and soon his capacity will double, all thanks to a five point three million dollar donation from the McKim Family Fund. Expanding the West unit will take some pressure off the er. As CEOs tell the Patriot Ledger, their emergency room has been overwhelmed.

Some several other local healthcare facilities shut down. You know, we had the flooding that shut down Nord Hospital. We had the fire in Brockton, and then we had, of course the Steward bankruptcy fiasco closing down. So that's what's been happening.
