There is debate over when the first presidential turkey part in actually occurred. Some historians say it may go all
the way back to Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln's son Tad befriended at turkey and successfully lobbied his father to save it from ending up as dinner president Harry Truman is credited with granting the first presidential pardon to a turkey in the modern era back in nineteen forty seven, but the first known official turkey pardon was in nineteen eighty nine during the presidency of George H. W. Bush, when he used the word pardon at his annual Thanksgiving Turkey event.

It's a breezy one with a high around fifty two. Then we dry out for some sunshine. A chilly Wednesday
with a high around fifty. This second round of rain and potentially snow is when things could get heavy, though it is too soon to say whether this will pan out as a nor'eastar or as a dud. It looks like some rain at least is likely during Thursday afternoon at night, of course. and a clear blue sky at eleven o five. There's more criticism around two of the president alex picks for his cabinet. The Defense secretary nominee is facing scrutiny over his history with women. Here's ABC's Perry Russ.
Trump's nominee for Defense Secretary, Pete Heigseth that's come under scrutiny after a police report revealed a woman accused him of sexual assault in twenty seventeen. The Army that denies the allegations and was never charged. Republican Senator Jony Ernst telling Politico the claims are worthy of a discussion. Senator Bill Haggerty calling Hegseth a very talented person.
Don't let these allegations distract us. What we need is real, significant change.
The Pentagon has been more focused on pronouns than they have lethality the past four years.
Some Democrats and Congressmen are also claiming that former Rep. Tulsa Gabbard is a quote sympathizer for Russia and Syria. In Gloucester, school is back today with a teacher strike resolved, but it is another day of empty classrooms. In Beverly and Marblehead, educators in the school committees butted heads again at the bargaining table over the weekend. A fact finding investigation has now been ordered in Beverly, with a deadline
on Marblehead tonight. If they don't reach a deal by six, that same order comes down from the state for a fact finding investigation. The governor had said that kids needed to be back in the classroom today even if a deal hasn't been reached. That has not happened. Tomorrow in Ddham, the Karen Reid case returns to court. Reed is getting ready for her retrials set for next year and the death of Boston Police officer John O'Keefe. Her lawyers have requested the personal emails and text messages of the Norfolk District Attorney, Michael Morrissey. Meanwhile, prosecutors have requested the call and textata from the phones of Reed's parents and the hours after Reid dropped John O'Keeffe off at a home in Canton, where he was later found
dead in twenty twenty two. Reed's defense team is also asking Judge Beverly Canoni to approve an out of state lawyer to be added to her defense team. Reid is facing civil suits as well, and the state Supreme Court has not issued a decision on a defense motion to have two of the three charges dropped against Sure. Jim mcka WBZ Boston's news.
