Seventy seven degrees and cloudy in Boston at eleven o'clock. Good morning, I'm Kyle Bray. Thank you for joining us, and here's what's happening. A massive fire at Fall Rivers Gabriel House assisted living residents claims nine lives. This fire happened at around nine to thirty last night at the facility on Oliver Street. Fall River Fire Chief Jeffrey Bacon says thirty people were taken to the hospital, including one in critical condition.
My heart goes to the families of those who were injured, and especially the nine who lost their lives.
First responders say some residents were hanging out of the windows with hopes of being rescued. Fifty firefighters responded, a majority of whom were off duty at the time. Governor Morey Heally says an investigation into what happened is underway, and her heart goes out to the victims family. Le's waking up to the most horrific news imaginable. We're expected to learn more today about President Trump's news stance on Russia, following months of unsuccessful attempts to end the war in Ukraine.
CBS's Weaija Jayang has the details.
Trump told reporters he plans to send Patriot missiles to Ukraine, which is president what Ladimir Zelensky has been pushing for. They are one of the few defense weapons capable of intercepting ballistic missiles. The president says European allies will pay for and distribute the weapons. CBS News has also learned Trump is considering authorizing new funding for Ukraine for the first time since he took office back in January.
Prior to taking office, mister Trump said he could end the war in Ukraine in just twenty four hours. Nearly two hundred people have been killed in Gaza and just over the last two days. ABC's Guy Davies has the latest.
Is radio asterrites continue to rain down across the Gaza Strip over the past forty eight hours. The mass run as a health ministry saying at least one hundred and ninety eight Palaestines have been killed and over six hundred injured. Amongst the casualties were ten people, including children, killed on their way to collect water in the city of Caryunis, the IDs saying that strike was due to a quote
technical error. Meanwhile, cease fire talks continuing with no breakthrough, as Hamas and Israel remain at an impasse on how exactly to end this devastating war. Guy Davies, ABC News in London.

Republic Services workers and union members in California are honoring picking lines here in the Bay State. Trash is piling up in Orange County and the San Francisco Bay Area, with garbage not being picked up in some communities for nearly a week. The Essex County DA's office launches an investigation after a man died in police custody while experiencing a mental health crisis. Family members of Francis Jiggliani rallied in Haveril yesterday calling for justice. His fiance says Jiggliani was calling out for help as police officers knelt on his neck and pig piled on top of him. Police initially responded to the area after getting a call about a man acting erradically weaving in and out of traffic. Officers tried to restrain
him until he became unresponsive. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His fiance says he suffered from mental health issues and was not armed at the time. The ESSEXDA is looking for anyone with video or photos of the incident to reach out to them. Mounting backlash against the Trump administration over the Justice Department's hands of files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, CBS's Natalie Brand has more.
There's been this growing revolt within the MAGA base really stoked by far right social media personalities, including Laura Lumer, who's been calling for the resignation of Attorney General Pam Bondi. They are highly disappointed with the decision to withhold records and also the DOJ's statement that there's not a client list, despite previous comments that indicated more information could be coming.
President Trump defended Bondi on social media, saying she's doing a fantastic job, adding that we should not waste time and energy on Jeffrey Epstein, someone that nobody cares about.
