Sonny and breezy cold thirty four degrees in Boston. Will it snow? This week looks like it will have more than the forecasts coming up on Laurie Kirby. But first breaking news in the Middle East, a ceasefire reportedly shattered. Lebanese officials now telling rerouders Israel fired an airstrike, killing at least two people in southern Lebanon. This after Israel signed a ceasefire deal with Hezbolah, which only started taking effect last week. Meantime, Israel says Hezbolah has fired into
a disputed border zone. Hesbolah's calling it a warning, a warning strike, saying Israel has repeatedly violated the ceasefire. And again, so fresh, it's a very very new ceasefire and it looks like it has been shattered at this point in time. But again, take us on the go. We'll have more on this both here and streaming on the iHeartRadio app. Let's go to the White House to be President Elect Donald Trump's pick to leave the FBI as a lot
of defenders and a whole lot of detractors too. The nod goes to Cash Patel, who famously wrote last year in his book that he wants to shut down FBI headquarters and scatter its staff to field offices around the nation. Now, Patel served under the first Trump administration and both intelligence and defense roles, along with National Security Advisor Josh Bolton. Remember Josh Bolton. Well, now the Republican is comparing the nomination of Patel to Joseph Stalin's secret police chief. He's
urging the Senate to deny the confirmation. And international students at Harvard University are blindsided on housing arrangements this winter breaks. Jay Willette reports.
School officials deny those students here on financial aid packages on campus housing, in a break with tradition. The sudden decision leaves them all scrambling to put a roof over their heads during the upcoming winter break. Close to three hundred have signed a petition calling on the housing office for a do over this semester. Man They say they need shelter during break because they simply cannot afford a travel home for the holidays. Jay Willette WBZ Boston's News Radio.
So we have a statement from Harvard University and it says, while it's our expectation that students will not be in residence over the winter recess, we do understand that some students may need to stay on campus, but only those who meet the eligibility requirements will be approved. But we're willing to discuss any challenges. The end of the Stewart Healthcare saga continues in Massachusetts. At a ceremony last month, Rhode Island's biggest healthcare system took over Saint Anne's Hospital
in Fall River along with Morton Hospital, taunted. The official handoff to Brown Health ushers in the arrival of a new player to the state's hospital sector, bringing in the financial stability of new operators. Brown University Health CEO John Fernandez says their medical facilities follow a patient centered vision, and between the holiday shopping and the freezing tempts, let's get a handle on that stress. Well, snow is coming. Snow. I said the four letter word snow. This is not
a snow storm. This is baby step snow. But for today, tonight and tomorrow, very clear, very cold, our hoh today forty are low to night twenty two and again tomorrow around forty Wednesday. Here it comes rain and snow at times. Wednesday afternoon with some light accumulation north and west of Boston. Thursday windy with a snow shower or two, especially on the south coast of the Cape and the Island. So everybody gets a little dusting.
You know.
For some people that puts them in some good holiday cheer. For others, maybe it stresses you out. And for some of you, the holidays is a battle with stress.
Yeah, the most wonderful time of the year, unless you know, it's not.
Take a cake, Take a cake, doumble hate los entirely.
But it's not just the Grinch not getting down with the holidays. Survey says nine to ten US adults feel at least some stress this time of year. It gets dark early, the calendar is all booked up in crazy family work parties, and of course there's that pressure to buy gifts. Some advice from doctor Juhu Smalls Monte.
You might want to consider doing all decret Santa, where one person in your group gets a gift from one other person, so you're not on the hook for buying a gift for maybe five, ten, fifteen people.
And don't forget it doesn't always need to be expensive to be great. Sometimes a gift from the heart is gold Drew moholland WBZ, Boston's News Radio.
So how do we manage that stress deep breaths?
According to a study published recently in the journal Nature Neuroscience, the pathway regulates voluntary breathing, which lets people manually slow their breathing and calm their minds. The author of the study says it someday there could possibly be a new drug that would emulate the relaxed state that people experienced during yoga or meditation.
A Marknyfield All right, now onto something a little bit stressful if you ride the Tea, in particular the Red Line. They just found a new crack, a crack in the rail near Quincy Center, and right now they're taking folks by shuttle busses between North Quincy and Braintree stations. Cruise are unseene and they've been doing track inspections. And again commuter rail service is now free. It's a free fair
to cover this while they make those repairs. You are now in the loop for news updates throughout the day, listen to WBZ News Radio on the iHeartRadio appine Lory Kirby WBZ, Boston's news radio
