Some marijuana users here in Massachusetts are looking forward to new regulations coming down today that could allow them to partake more in social settings. Here's so many BSS James Rojasa.
Massachusetts could become the eleventh state to allow the consumption of marijuana at events or social settings. Supporters say it could benefit tourism, added.
Bonus to their travels potentially, And I think if there's something like bars, cannabis bars, that kind of thing, again, it's another it's another thing to drop people out into.
Those Some would have concerns.
Certainly consistent with other practices. I'm suspicious generally, however, that you're going to inhibit your reaction time.
The Cannabis Control Commission is asking for public feedback on whether to allow the purchase of products and the use of it in the same location or at designated events and places in downtown Boston. James Rojas WBZ Boston Some News radio.
This comes as the state auditor, Diana Dezaglio, says she has discovered significant problems at the Cannabis Control Commission. Her office has put out a brand new audit that looked at the state agency's operations between twenty twenty two and twenty twenty four. Among other issues, the audit claims there was potential favoritism and or impropriety, and there also weren't any proper digital or paper records kept on fee collection, all of which Dezaglio's office says led to revenue laws
for the state. The report also says the agency did not properly enforce regulations. There was also a lack of supervision and accountability for staff. A spokesperson for the commission telling WBZ News Radio they've been working closely with the Auditor's office and they've made progress on many of those issues that were raised. And Trump is on his way to Anchorage, Alaska right now for a summit this afternoon with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The president is expected to hold a news conference at the conclusion of the summit. He says, if the meeting goes well, it'll be a joint news conference with Vladimir Putin by his side, But if it goes poorly, and he says there's a twenty five percent chance that it will, he'll hold his own news conference and then head back here to Washington. Trump has aired the hope that a second meeting with Vladimir Zelinsky could be hastily arranged, maybe
even right there in Alaska. But that's only if things work out between him and Putin. Later today and this.
ABC, Stephen Portnoy now on board Air Force One. This morning, the President told reporters that security guarantees for Ukraine are possible. He did say those guarantees have to include Europe, but did rule out NATO membership for Ukraine. When it comes to weather news, we have some developing in the Atlantic right now. It's Hurricane Aaron is officially now the first hurricane of this year's Atlantic hurricane season, just about a Category one right now. Mack sustained wins of seventy five
miles an hour. But this is not expected to even approach the US for at least a few more days, so that is not anything we have to factor into the weekend forecast. After running through the New England Regionals with ease, Braintree American lost thirteen to nothing in their first Little League World Series game last night. Braintree was undefeated going into the game, but the team from Irmo, South Carolina proved to be a tough matchup. Now they have to win out to win the whole thing, five straight games to be exact. It starts on Saturday against the Southwest Champions

Attorneys for marathon bomber jaharz Ar Naye are now escalating their bid to remove the judge overseeing his death penalty case. Last month, the three judge panel rejected the bid, saying Judge Georgio o' toole's comments about the case are not enough to merit a recusal. Now, Sarnaia's lawyers are asking the full First Circuit Appeals Court to reconsider Sarnaiya's legal team, ultimately trying to get him a new trial. He has confessed to setting off the bombs at the marathon finish line,
killing three people at the scene and entering hundreds. Washington, DC is now suing to block President Trump's federal takeover of the city police force. This lawsuit coming this morning after Attorney General Pam Bondi overnight named DEEA Boss Terry Cole as the district's new emergency police commissioner. Washington's mayor says that's not lawful.
The standoff comes though, as eight hundred National Guard troops begin a second full day deployed here and the Guardess's character. This is a twenty four to seven mission and it comes as some protesters are now confronting federal law enforcement. Sean Dunn of Washington, d C is charged of the felony. He's accused of throwing a sandwich at a federal law enforcement officer, and the Attorney General revealed yesterday Done was an employee of the Department of Justice.
CBS's Scott MacFarlane reporting there. Bondie also rescinding the district's sanctuary city policies. Her office says those limited police from working with federal authorities. And in Boston, city and church officials are calling for a hate crime investigation after another vandalism attack at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross early yesterday before seven am. The Boston Archdiocese says somebody they don't know who sprayed graffiti on a statue of the
Blessed Virgin Mary. The arch Diocese says this is the second time the cathedral has been vandalized in two years. Back in twenty twenty three, a man was arrested after attacking a crucifix on the grounds Boston City Councilor Ed Flynn now says he wants Boston Police to conduct a hate crime investigation.
