Good Friday morning. I'm Madison Rogers. It is forty degrees in Boston at eleven o'clock and here's what's happening. A state lawmaker from the Cape will face a Boston federal judge this afternoon. This morning, he's been arrested in a fraud scheme and cover up. Prosecutors with the US Attorney's Office alleged House Rep. Christopher Flanagan stole tens of thousands from a home a homebuilders association on the Cape, including after the Democrat was elected to Rep. Barnstable in twenty

twenty two. US Attorney Leo Foley says he used the money to line his own pockets, including to pay off personal bills by luxury items and to bankroll his political campaign. Flanagan had served as an executive officer for that trade association. It's alleged he went to extraordinary lengths to cover up the scheme, even fabricating fake personas the reps do before a federal judge in Moachley Courthouse in Boston around two thirty PM. WBZ News Radio. The US Supreme Court has ordered the Trump administration to work toward bringing Kilmar Abrigo Garcia home. The man from Maryland mistakenly deported and sent to a notorious prison in his native El Salvador last month. ABC's Terry Moran has more.

Exactly how or when Garcia will be returned to the United States remains unclear. The government says that Abrigo Garcia's was a member of the notorious MS thirteen gang in El Salvador and that he's a threat to the public here. His family disputes that he was under a court order protecting him from being deported to El Salvador because he feared for his safety there. In a statement, his wife saying I will continue to fight until my husband is home.

A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to explain how Garcia will be returned and set a deadline for the government to confirm his low location. Just a few days ago, the Supreme Court decided to allow the president to continue deporting people without due process through the eighteenth century Alien Enemies Act. In a push to drive out some legal immigrants, the Social Security Administration has labeled them debt.

On Thursday, Agency officials added the names and social security numbers of over six thousand, mostly Latino immigrants to the database that they use to track dead people. The move effectively erases their ability to work in the United States or receive any benefits. The named immigrants entered the US through the Biden administration's parole programs, which granted temporary work permits, saying adding living people to the death database violates multiple laws.

On Mark Mayfield and looking at the four day forecast, we should have some breaks of sunshine this afternoon, the high around forty five, and it should be a dry Friday night if you'd like to get out there. The rain holding off till after midnight, but once it starts coming down, we're going to be dealing with rain and potentially a wintry mix through the night and through much

of tomorrow as well. Now it should be the northwestern suburbs for the most part seeing the slush out there, though there could be a couple of inches of accumulation, quite a bit of rain closer to Boston, maybe some ponding on the roads, watch out for that. Tomorrow's high is around forty oh. It's also windy, so Sunday cloudy and breezy, with just some occasional rain and drizzle. Less miserable up to forty six and a lot less miserable Monday,

up to fifty seven in Boston with some sunshine. Right now in Boston it is forty and cloudy at eleven oh five. China is firing back against the US as a trade war reaches new heights, the latest with Abyc's brick Clinet.

China now raising import taxes on goods from the United States to one hundred and twenty five percent as the tip for tap trade war escalates even further. The announcement from Beijing coming hours after Chinese presidency's imping said there were no winners in tariff war. China faces a one hundred and forty five percent levy on some of its goods imported to the United States as President Trump zeroed in on China as a target while pausing tariffs on

dozens of other countries. In announcing the latest tariff hikes, China's Commerce ministry again said China would fight to the end, but the statement also suggested this might just be China's last tariff increase, saying if the US raises rates higher again, China will ignore it for Clinic, ABC News, Hong Kong.

A lot of Massachusetts Democrats aren't happy with our reps in Washington and the kind of fight they've put up against the Trump administration. A new letter is signed by dozens of Democratic committees around the Commonwealth. They say, right now it's up to Democrats in Congress to save our democracy,

but party leadership has failed to meet the moment. They're calling on the Massachusetts delegation to organize to replace Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and to use every tool, rule and procedure at their disposal to block Republicans at every turn.
