To find out, it was a scary site for self expanse to see star Jason Tatum rupture his Achilles tendon on national TV. But now that he's gone under the knife, the road to recovery begins. Mass General Brigham doctor Adam ten Forty tells me these injuries are particularly devastating.
The challenge with the Achilles tendon is that it's very important for being able to develop the ballistic athletic movements that are required to be the All Star athlete that Jason Tatum is.
He'll need to make up for the lost muscle during his post surgery recovery and then focus on rebuilding his coordination and strength. The Celtics haven't given a timeline yet, but doctor ten forty says we could see him back next year.
We will see athletes as quickly as six months get back into sport. We give a range of six to nine months because there's a number of different factors to go into tissue healing.

There's a lot of confusion right now as the Trump administration looks to cut spending in the name of efficiency and aligning programs with the president's agenda. In the last four months, the dashboard at mass dot gov slash fed Impact says state agencies have seen three hundred and fifty million dollars in pulled funds. Some of the biggest cuts are money for vaccines for kids, mental health care for students,
emergency shelter programs. Health and Human Services is the hardest hit agency, the Governor's office stressing this doesn't include hundreds of millions of dollars for federal programs, jobs, and research grants in Massachusetts, and they're hoping this will be a helpful tool for local municipalities along with businesses and nonprofits to see the impacts and make plans.
