He's be with you all.
Pope Leo is the first American Pope. He's the Chicago native who the late Pope Francis had brought to the Vatican in twenty twenty three to serve as the powerful head of the office that vets bishop nominations from around the world. In January, he was elevated into the senior ranks of cardinals.
I'm Donna Water.
We have more and reaction to the election of an American Pope coming up throughout the afternoon here on w b Z. The jury excused for the day. Now at the Karen Reid retrial, only one witness on the stand, State Police Sergeant Jury Buchanic. During cross examination, defense attorney Alan Jackson asked Buchanic why efforts were not taken to secure and document the home at thirty four Fairview Road in Canton.
Did you contact CSSs to process the house or the yard or the area adjacent to the yard which houser thirty four Fairview Sergeant Buchanic, Do you think I was talking about a different house?
Yes?
I did, really, Yes, let's stick with thirty four Fairview where John o'keef's body was found.
Buchanic was Trooper Michael Proctor's supervisor. Proctor eventually was fired after it was revealed he had made derogatory comments about Karen Reid earlier. The prosecution had Buchanic go over the evidence collected at the scene and how that evidence was processed. A trade deal reached, President Trump announcing a deal with the UK.

Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell filing suit against pharmacy chain CVS. The AG filed the complaint in a lawsuit alleging that they charged Mass Health, the state's medicaid program, higher prices than they offered to the general public for the same drugs. Campbell claims in the suit that CVS offered lowered drug prices to cash paying customers through a discount program administered by a company called script Save, but evaded its responsibility
to report and bill Mass Healthy lower discounted price. In a statement to WBZ, a spokesperson for the Rhode Island based company says they strongly dispute the allegations that our prices for Medicaid programs were inaccurate or inflated. They say we've always been transparent with Medicaid programs concerning the prices we were submitting. A couple of scattered showers about this afternoon.
We may see more of them cross the area. We've got a bit of precipitation up across northern Worcester County and into southern New Hampshire. This is pretty much winched in north and then back out into western Massachusetts. There's some more bubbling up in terms of a showers and or a thunder shower, so that could make a run toward the Boston area. Later. We'll see a shower up here right along the Massachusetts New Hampshire border.
This is.
Right around the thu In and over toward about Pelham, New Hampshire. Not everybody getting under these showers, obviously, but if you do, it'll be fairly brief. We will see more showers as we go through the night. Forty nine for the low. Later tomorrow, it's a rainy day. The heaviest and steadiest of the rain will be in the afternoon.
It'll be the temperatures that will feel well different to us because we're only going to hit fifty or so for the high, and with the breeze tomorrow, we'll feel like we're at thirty five to forty degrees for much of the day. Periods of rain continue into tomorrow night, some of that heavy at times. Temperatures in the upper forties Saturday to about sixty with some sun coming out late in the afternoon after some morning rain, and then pleasant on Sunday for Mother's Day. Nice gift from Mom.
With the sun and temperatures near seventies sixty three right now in Boston. Boston after dark can bring out some creatures of the night. It's bats man. Yeah, the bats are out and flying about, but not after us really. As we hear from wbz's Jawilllette.
There are reports of runners around the Chestnut Hill Reservoir in Brighton having run ins with bats once the sun sets.
Generally around Mother's Day is when mosquito larva get their wing for the first time.
Ranger Tim Popolo says it's exceedingly rare to have.
A bat swoop in on you.
AT's will be out feeding now that we have this nice protein meal, and during the daytime you'll see tree swallows and other kinds of insect eating birds flying around.
And if you happen to have a dusk melee with one best recommendation is to get a raby shot immediately, especially if skin is broken. Or a raccoon, skunk, fox, or a bat is the perpetrator. I mean, like back at where we're staying, like you know, there's a bunch of bats hanging on the walls everything.
We're in a castle.
I'm Dracula, that's my assistant, and but I haven't heard about it.
But it's actually kind of scary because I mean we're out here every morning walking around, and I run around this place a lot, so I don't want to get attacked by a bat. In Brighton Jay Willett WBZ, Boston's news radio, And.
We get a little more information now about that Soviet spacecraft that is headed toward a crash into planet Earth.
Cosmos four eighty two should return tomorrow or early Saturday morning. Where it will land is still a mystery. It was launched in nineteen seventy two on a mission to Venus, but it's rocket malfunction, leaving the thousand pound cars sized craft stuck in Earth's orbit. It has a heat shield
so it will not burn up in the atmosphere. Cosmos four to eighty two's orbit is between fifty two degrees north latitude and fifty two degrees south latitude, which covers Africa, Australia, most of the Americas, and much of Europe and Asia. Chances are will land harmlessly in an ocean. Michael Wallace, CBS News.
Maybe we're a helmet over the weekend, just to be safe.
