Later this week, we'll get the chance to get a glimpse of a total lunar eclipse. Wbz's Sherry Small tells us about it.

Speaker 4

There will be a spectacle in the sky to see on Thursday and Friday, March thirteenth and fourteenth, a total lunar eclipse that will flush the moon a reddish orange color, been called a blood moon. A lunar eclipse happens when the Earth is positioned exactly between the Moon and the Sun. The Earth blocks all direct sunlight from lighting up the Moon's surface. The eclipse is happening Thursday night into Friday morning,

lasting a few hours. The blood moon portion will only be visible for about an hour, starting at two twenty six am Friday morning. Peak viewing will be close to three am. Now, unlike a solar eclipse, you don't need any special glasses to view a lunary eclipse. It's safe to see it with the naked eye, so just look up and if you have binoculars or a telescope, even better. Sherry Small, WBZ Boston's News Radio.
