It's thirty degrees with a chilly, gusty wind in Boston, four o'clock and a good Sunday afternoon. I'm Madison Rodgers and we start off at Boston Logan. We are following developing news from the airport today. A smoky odor inside a plane forced an emergency landing and one person's in the hospital. A Delta spokesperson says the New Orleans bound flight had just taken off from Boston when an odor was detected in the cabin and the plane had to

turn around. It was able to make a safe emergency landing. Massport confirms it's not clear right now what issue what the issue with the plane was, but the airline says three people were treated on scene and one person was brought to a hospital later this morning. Delta says passengers continued on their journey and this comes during an anxious time for many air travelers, submit a string of high profile and other incidents with uncertainty around a ceasefiring Gaza.

Israel has again cut off all humanitarian aid into the devastated strip. Israel's Prime Minister is defending the move.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's saying the decision was coordinated with the Trump administration, and this comes as Israel and Hamas had just begun negotiating next steps in Cairo, Israel endorsing a proposal by US Middle East Envoice Steve Whitkoff to extend Phase one by another six weeks that would see half of the remaining hostages released on the first day of the extended SIES fire, the other half released at the end if a permanent cease fire is.

Read ABC's and Estela Kotera reporting there. Hamas has so far rejected any extension of Phase one. Phase two would entail a withdrawal of Israeli troops and the release of all remaining living hostages after an Oval office face off reaction is divided. Protests in Boston and across the US this weekend are voicing support for Ukraine after talks dramatically broke down with Presidents Trump and Zelenzi. Republican House Leader Mike Johnson pinning the blame on the Ukrainian president.

For him to act as he did was rather shocking to everyone. I mean, President Zelensky instead of showing gratitude. He interrupted and berated his hosts at a very perilous time for his country. He should have been anxious, I think, to enter into this agreement. Thank both sides to bring it to an end.

Britain's Prime Minister is calling this once in a generation moment for the security of Europe, urging countries to continue supporting Kiev. World leaders will continue grappling with the war and the path to peace.

This Thursday, the Moment of Truth, another European summit will be held in Brussels, where the European Commission is expected to announce a defense package for Europe, including Ukraine. The open questions how much assistance, what kind of weapons, and whether it will be enough to counter Russia without the United States, RAIMI, Innocensium, CBS, and US London.

Looking at the four day forecast, we'll see those temperatures yo yo again in the coming days, this time in a milder direction. Right now in Boston, the wind is blowing twenty thirty miles an hour. It is icy cold all around thirty degrees and feeling like sixteen. At four h five, an Endicott College hockey player is finally back on the ice after a scary illness. The Bulibez's Kyle Schaffel has the story.

It's been a grueling road back to the ice for Endicott College senior Jack Smiley.

How is just doing my thing? But at the same time it was exciting. It was the best day of the past thirty years.

The hockey player's world was completely turned upside down in his sophomore year when he suddenly suffered a stroke during practice.

But you don't wake up every day wanting to go to therapy. You don't want to sit there and learn how to walk again at twenty two years oli.

But with three years of recovery, a ton of grit, and the support of his team and family. Smiley is once again playing games for the Endicott Goals. In his last semester of college, he says he took one day at a time, always keeping his eye on the eventual goal.

The number one item on that list is playing hockey again.

The future is open ended. He's considering going pro or maybe more schooling than psychology to help others overcome similar hurdles. Kyle Schaffield debbe Busy Boston's news radio Neighbors are.

Rattled in Boston's Back Bay after an attempted stabbing and Dudley's shooting in the middle of a busy Saturday night. CBS News Boston Samantha Cheney has more.

Police say an off duty Boston police officer shot and killed a man inside of Chick fil A on Boylston Street. This after they say he chased two people inside with a knife.

What was trying to attempting to stab the two individuals in the store and the offer The officer identified himself as a police officer, instructing them to drop the weapon, at which point the individual did not comply. The officer discharged his weapon to stop the threat and the individual destruct.

According to police, it all happened around five thirty Saturday evening, leaving some people shaken.

Officials say they believe there are witnesses with more information about what led up to the shooting, and they are urging people to reach out. The mayor offering condolences to the family of the man who lost his life. He has not been named, and neither has the officer. Governor

Morri Healey says the Democratic Party needs a rebrand. In an interview just published in The New York Times, the governor described the Trump agenda as a chaotic usurping of congressional powers and said her party's north stars should be delivering for everyday Americans. In the Times program the interview, Heally was described as someone with a lot of behind the scenes influence in the National Democratic Party, privately pushing Senate leaders to hit back against the White House harder.
