This is WBZY, Boston's news radio, redefining local news. Forty seven degrees in Boston at four o'clock. Good afternoon. I'm Ben Parker. Here's what's happening around these parts. It's no longer smoke from a distant fire that's been affecting us. It is smoke from nearby fires. North of Boston. One fire in Middleton near the reservoir has increased in size, and WBZTV's Penny commit tells us there's an even larger one burning near Salem.

Speaker 2

With one hundred and thirty acres burned. Crews from up and down the state are in Salem today trying to save another one hundred and thirty acres from catching flame. Fire Chief Allan Dyon says that will all depend on the wind. Were anticipating the fire will flare up again today. This morning, we saw Cruise tackle a large brush fire off Highland Avenue. It reignited about forty five minutes later

when the wind picked up. This cycle, the Chief says, is making it difficult for Cruise to fully extinguished these flames.

The good news for Halloween revelers is that downtown activities in Salem so far are unaffected. The beatles, saying about eight days a week. By that logic, election days a week away. In reality, it's a week plus a day, hence eight days the presidential candidates hitting the road and digging for votes from the undecided. Still, Vice President Kamala Harris has another battleground state blitz.

Speaker 3

Vice President Harris today makes several stomps in battleground Michigan, focusing on investment in manufacturing. Her campaign says she'll argue she would be a better president at protecting American jobs and her opponent Donald Trump. She'll visit a facility that produces solar panel parts and received a three hundred and twenty five million dollar federal grant last week, touring the assembly line and meeting with workers. She'll later visit a

union training facility, meeting with instructors and apprentices. Tonight, the Vice president will hold a rally with her running mate, Governor Tim Walls in ann Arbor, home to the University of Michigan. Karen Travers ABC News Washington.

Former President Donald Trump rally in New York City last night. Today, he's back on the campaign trail down south.

Speaker 4

Today, Trump holds two events in Georgia, afternoon remarks to a gathering of faith leaders, and then an evening rally in Atlanta following last night's Mega MAGA rally at Madison Square Garden. Trump's campaign is actively seeking to distance itself from the jokes told by a little known comic before Trump took the stage. His line that Puerto Rico is a floating island of garbage is one that Florida Republican Senator Rick Scott calls not funny and not true.

Chilli night Tonight is some of the inland suburbs get well down into the thirties, and we may have a frost in some areas. Gets cold enough, and it could in a few of the normally colder spots we may get a freeze. No freezing in Boston about forty two for the low downtown under mainly clear skies, clouds and sun. Tomorrow to be breezy and a little bit milder than today,

Temperatures in the mid to upper fifties. Tomorrow night cloudy, breezy, a little rain gets in here, especially after midnight, Temperatures in the low fifties. And then Wednesday, the sun comes back out. The temperatures come up to about seventy degrees, mostly sunny on Thursday, mid to upper seventies, and then a couple of shours possible to Thursday night before we get a little bit cooler back into the sixties on Friday. Right now it is forty seven degrees in Boston. It

was a dangerously fun playground structure. Now it's becoming a sizzling hot collector's item. Wz's Matt Shearer climbs in.

Remember burger jails. Back in the seventies, McDonald's built their iconic play places, including the infamous Big Mac Climber, a giant cheeseburger that kids could climb into and unfortunately get very hurt on. There were hundreds of hospital visits. By nineteen ninety seven, McDonald's had disposed of them all but a few survived, which brings us to Easton Cool. So

this is the reaction I look for. Jacobell has an entire corner of his backyard dedicated to decaying McDonald's memorabilia, including the Big Mac Climber, which now goes for thousands of we first, god, he so what are you gonna do with that?

Speaker 5

I'm gonna put there. I'm gonna look at it.

Speaker 4

I'm gonna smile because it makes me happy.

Walmart is promoting a so called inflation free Thanksgiving twenty nine items to feed eight people for under seven dollars a person.
