This is WBZ, Boston's news radio re defining local news. The sun is coming out and it's twenty five degrees in Boston at four o'clock. Good afternoon. I'm I'm a freedman and here's what's happening. Donald Trump is once again President of the United States. He's now attending a Congressional luncheon on Capitol Hill. Earlier today, he delivered his inaugural address. CBS's Lynda Kenyon has more.
The president said he would marshal the powers of his cabinet members.
To defeat what was record inflation.
Trump also vowed to impose major tariffs on foreign goods entering the US.
For this purpose, we are establishing the External Revenue Service to collect all tariff's duties and revenues.
He says. It will bring massive amounts of money into the US Treasury. Economists say it will lead to massive price hikes for average Americans. Linda Kenyon, CBS News the White House.
President Trump also reiterated promises to crack down on the southern border. Shortly after the president took the oath of office, it was announced that an app called the CBP one had been shut down. CBP one allowed migrants to make an appointment for admission into the United States through legal ports of entry. All existing appointments were canceled when the program was shut down, and former President Biden pardoned his
siblings and their spouses just before leaving office. The former president says he's protecting them from political retribution on the part of President Donald Trump. Biden also pardoned some public officials, including doctor Anthony Fauci, retired General Mark Milly, and members of the House January sixth Committee. None of the people Biden pardoned today have been charged with crimes. This comes as the new president teeses pardons of his own.
Donald Trump has talked about burdens for the January sixth prisoners for those that were convicted of attacking the capital the plan. I am told by somebody familiar that Donald Trump was going to issue pardons for hundreds of them, but not all of them, that those that were involved in attacking police officers, for instance, would wait for a
further review by his Justice Department. I am told that it is quite possible that he goes further now and truly issues blanket pardons for virtually everybody who attacked the Capitol in January sixth, in part because out of a reaction to what Joe Biden did.
That was ABC's Jonathan Carl reporting there. Right now, it is twenty five degrees in Boston at four to four, and we're seeing mostly sunny skies today, mostly Clara. like it's single digits at times. Tonight. Tomorrow, well, we're continuing our week of freezing temperatures, mainly cloudy skies. High of nineteen to twenty three tomorrow. Tomorrow night, same deal as today. It's dropping down again, low of fourteen. The rest of the week. We're gonna have some clouds coming in and out, but it's gonna be cold. Progress has been made, but how do we increase that? How do we address the issues of numbering, inequality? And I mustn't remind people Dad wasn't killed because he was talking about sitting in a restaurant eating what we wanted to eat, or sitting in front of a bus. He was killed because he was talking about economic empowerment for more people.
